I don't know how to read. I love this game.

A run takes 20 minutes. Normal feels like a good introduction, and hard feels like a whole new game. The attacks change significantly as you move up in difficulty, but the lessons you learn from lower difficulties remain important.

I expected boring vertical scrolling, but every stage feels great. Stage 2 and 4 are really refreshing. The store system is largely tacked-on, but the game itself is more than worth multiple playthroughs. I haven't played a game in this genre in over 10 years, this is exactly what I wanted.

I not sure, i play the easiest and there is only 1 "plane" to choose with 3 different style of shooting, i choose the widest also the stated the strongest, most of the time you need to press 2 keys?? the shift (slow/focus) and z (shooting) but why??

The wide shooting almost hitting everything on the screen, but same time it is so weak after stage 2?? So in the end you are using 2 keys!!! If you don't using the shift key you can magnet those coins that is so scatter around!!!

Those coins are use to unlock stage and music, and you only able to use it after you death or you complete the game!! There is no upgrade on your fire power its the same so the further stage you pass the harder to kill, even normal mob you need like 5sec to kill??/ WTH?

Play Raiden III is more enjoyable...

Barrage Musical ~A Fantasy of Tempest~ is one of my favorite danmakus of all time. Yes, really.

Music has a very profound influence on me. It heals me in various ways that barely any other media can do. Video game soundtracks are no exception, and thankfully it did not disappoint. The music is simply incredible. I absolutely loved making my way through each level, admiring how everything synced so perfectly and smoothly. Take that, and the amazing patterns the game features as well, and the result is a truly beautiful experience. The whole game has a certain charm and calming atmosphere to it. Everytime I started a new run, I was instantly immersed and taken to another world.

While it most certainly takes a lot of inspiration from Touhou, the developers (SlimeSmile) really tried to make something special here, which I absolutely think they succeeded at. Sadly, it is criminally underrated.

I wholeheartedly recommend this game to everyone who loves the genre, especially if you enjoy Touhou. 'Tis a hidden gem in my books.

Good game with good music. Enemies attack in sync with the music, which is really nice. Easy mode is actually easy.

However, the engrish translation is horrible to the point that trying to read it literally hurts.

One of the best "not-Touhou" games on Steam.
Gets the right feel, the music is nice (specially on stage 4, the stage and boss themes are real bangers), the only downside is that the characters aren't that memorable. Maybe they could be more fleshed out in a sequel.

I first bought this game 3 years ago, and throughout this time, I've enjoyed it again and again.
There's no denying it: this game is Touhou-inspired. Its staff were all members of the team that created Shining Shooting Star, one of the best Touhou fangames to this day.
However, its gimmick is that it features stages and battles tightly bound to the music and soundtrack, to an even higher degree than is usual of Touhou games and fangames. There is a strict choreographic track that the music and patterns follow, and the flow of the game will adjust itself so that they stay together, by inserting or deleting certain nonspells.

The danmaku design is on the easier side but is still nice to look at, but the music and stage presentation is ridiculously good (though I hear it suffers on lower difficulties since there's not as many bullets to accommodate the music). There is a cheaty autododge system you can buy time for in the in-game shop (using the in-game coins) to use for help on higher difficulties though. If you just care about experiencing the presentation, I recommend playing on at least hard and using the autododge.

For $10, I recommend any fan of Touhou and Touhou music to pick up this game and give it a whirl. You won't regret it.

This game is so fucking good, I really wish more people knew the existance of it.
Bullet hell synchronized with music is one of the best feelings of the world, for real. I can't describe how good it is, also it is very generous with the coyote timings in between deathbombs. There is also like a shop, where you can exchange score to unlock bonus art and the music room, aswell as Lunatic and Ultra mode, which is honestly a great addition.

Not only that, but the patterns are really fun too! like, stage 1 is one of my favorites, not only it is interesting due to the music synchronized with the stage, but also because of the unusual instruments used like a fucking pan flute, truly the best.
Stage 2 has a 4secs slow start that makes you think "ugh, stage 2 zzzzzz" if it was some Touhou game, but after that 4 seconds without enemies, IT JUST KICKS IN and makes such a fast-paced stage so early into the game it's just so ??? I love it.

Also, since the game has an actual Story, pretty similar to EoSD, where you go first 3 stages trying to get into Remilia's castle, well, in here it's basically the same. The third stage is the equivalent of "Meiling" and not only does she feels as strong, but the music emphasizes this. Truly a way to show off a "bodyguard".

Now, stage 4,5 and 6 are inside the castle, so the instruments and the pace of the songs also change BY A LOT
Stage 4 has this Sakuya wannabe, which is actually fun, and Stage 5 has the "end boss" which even messes up with the UI and it's just so scary, I love her.

There is a 6th boss and stage though, but that is unlocked after reaching more than X score, and it really is worth it. I wish I could explain more about this game, but it really is just an experience, and I wish there was a sequel of it, because I really had a lot of fun while playing. Loving every single second of it.

Barrage Musical ~A Fantasy of Tempest~ takes a lot of obvious inspiration from the Touhou games, but it has enough differences to make it more than just a glorified Touhou fangame, and its solid presentation and gameplay make it worthwhile for pretty much anyone interested in bullet hells.

The basic gameplay is what you'd expect from a Touhou-like: besides moving and shooting, you have a handful of screen-clearing bombs and a focus button to slow down for more precise dodging. You can choose between 3 different shottypes at the start of the game, which come with their own bomb types as well, and there are also 3 difficulties to choose from (at first, anyway).

One of the game's biggest features is how the stages and boss attacks are all synced with the background music. While this doesn't affect the core gameplay too much, there are some occasions where paying attention to the music can be helpful for anticipating bigger attacks or waves of enemies. The stages are also very well-paced due in part to the music syncing; the intensity of the stages always matches that of the music, which gives them some nice variety.

The scoring system revolves almost entirely around collecting coins. Of course, shooting down enemies causes them to drop coins, but more coins can be gained by killing enemies quickly, shooting them at close range and cancelling bullets. Making it through certain boss phases (think of these like Spell Cards from Touhou) also rewards the player with a truckload of coins. Because cancelled bullets are also converted into coins, spamming bombs often gives more score than properly dodging the attacks which I don't really approve of from a design standpoint, but a part of me can't help but enjoy the inherent satisfaction of blasting away hundreds of bullets into a shower of coins.

Collecting as many coins as possible is the key to getting extra lives and bombs as well as the true ending, but all coins collected are also added to a total, which can then be spent on a bunch of unlockables in the main menu. I'm a bit mixed on how this was implemented: I don't mind having to buy songs for the music room or art for the gallery, it gives the game more replay value in my opinion, but I don't like how the higher difficulties also need to be bought, all it does is force more expert players to grind for a while before they can play a difficulty appropriate to their skill level.

Barrage Musical is generally easier than the Touhou games, but the unlockable Ultra difficulty is sure to give veteran players a good challenge (I can 1cc Lunatic but I can't even reach stage 3 on Ultra lol), while novice players can unlock an auto-dodging system from the shop, which can only be used for a limited time and costs coins to recharge. I'm sure it's nice for people who just want to beat the game, but -and I don't want to come off as one of those "git gud scrub haha" people- a lot of the fun of bullet hells comes from getting better over time and learning to dodge attacks that previously seemed impossible in my opinion, and I don't think holding down a button to bypass the harder sections gives that same sense of accomplishment.

The presentation is well done. The graphics are admittedly pretty low-resolution, but the character portraits are otherwise well-drawn and the overall art design is quite pleasant. The soundtrack is also excellent. It has a similar style to Touhou, but like the gameplay, it's different enough to set itself apart. The 4th and 5th boss themes in particular slap major ass.

Barrage Musical is overall a very well-made shmup. The game's relatively low difficulty (compared to other bullet hells, anyway) makes it great for newcomers to the genre, but the unlockable difficulties are bound to keep more hardcore players busy as well. The fun (if somewhat flawed) scoring system and the unlockables also give the game a nice amount of replayability, and the solid visuals and fantastic music tie the whole package together very nicely. It's not going to suddenly change your mind if you're not fond of the genre, but if you are a fan of bullet hells (especially Touhou), you can't really go wrong with picking this one up.

When it comes to Shoot 'Em Up & Bullet Hell genre games, most of them are either bad or good. But in this case, it's good. The thing that captured my attention about this game is a Shoot 'Em Up & Bullet Hell game that combined with musics! However, it's not entirely like the game is musical of sort but using music as theme for the entire game. What's about it? Let's get into details!

The Gameplay
Well, in this game, you only have 1 character to choose and that's Misty Laxia, the Fire Magician. You have 3 choices of which weapon type you like and that comes with different magical bomb type as well. Sounds pretty bland and typical, right? No, actually. In fact, this game has a unique feature, called the Divined Time! It's something special that you can get it from the in-game shop to activate the most powerful move of all, the Auto-Evasive-Maneuver. Of all the Shoot 'Em Up & Bullet Hell, this is the first game I've seen that can activate the auto dodging bullets and shoot at the same time. In short, it's like CPU playing for you. No matter how many bullets filled the screen, using this feature guaranteed 100% no death. But of course it's a time based. So, I think that's a pretty nice thing to have in a game. Cool! Other than that, it's nothing fancy and you have to evade the bullets and keep shooting at the same time, same old same old. Then, there's a simple story too that comes with characters of little background. At least that what makes the game intriguing to see what's going on about. I'll say that's at least better than just blinding shooting in each stage without knowing what's happening.

The Graphics
For this aspect, it's slightly below the average. The characters are not so nice, and the backgrounds are somewhat poorly drawn, somewhat too bland, to say. Even for the true ending, the scenes are disappointing. But then again, it's not that good, but it's not that very bad either. It has a lot of room for improvement. However, in all the entire game, the most stunning and beautiful graphics would be the magical bombs! Yes, the magical bombs! I know this sounds ridiculous but the bombing scenes, are one of the best ones I've seen.

The Music
Now here comes, the main point. The musics are the main key element that make this game enjoyable. Each of the stage has its own musics and I must say, all of the musics are very nice, especially almost reaching to the final stage. As this game featured the keyword Barrage Musical, it indeed delivered good themes and each music score has their own title at the start of the stage. Although the shooting and stuff seemed pretty bland, the musics somehow make it up for it. Thus that made the gaming experience a lot more fun. Lastly, it has a great list of musics in Music Room.

The Misc
The main menu interface looks cool, using medieval theme as the concept for it. There are a lot to check it out as well, especially the Gallery and the Music Room ( this game is heavily based on Musics, so yeah ). Other than that, it also has a manual that contains almost everything, so it's good to see who what and which. Seriously, do check it out before playing the game.

The Drawbacks
Usually, I don't include this section but as this game has potential, I want to point out a few so that in future, they (the developer) can make better games. Well, for starter, it has key config issue. Seriously, I wasn't able to do any key mapping at all, until I realised I had to go to the local files to change it myself. Then comes the unstable FPS, which is a drag especially when it's in window fullscreen. That is a real bugging issue when the screen is filled with uncountable bullets flying around. Another point is the spelling mistake and grammatical error. Nothing serious but it's too obvious. Lastly, it lacks 2 players mode, and there's only one character to select which is a bit disappointing. If there were a few to choose, that would have been great.

So, in a nutshell, this is a nice Shoot 'Em Up & Bullet Hell game with great music soundtrack. Although there's a few drawbacks, yet it's enjoyable as it delivered good fun challenges. In the end, it's the musics that captivate the most. Musical Shoot'Em'Up!

You can tell simply playing this game it's a real labour of love. The shot types, patterns, bosses and of course the music are all really polished and timing bullets to the music works so well! It makes you feel like a real badass when you manage to dodge a pattern to some totally groovy tunes.

The music really is the selling point here. The game is pretty easy but if you want a real challenge there's Ultra mode, the "untested difficulty."

The story is simple and borrows very heavily from Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, but it works really well. The final boss is truly epic. It's comparable to the Final Spells in Concealed the Conclusion, in my opinion.

The English translation is very messy but you understand what they're going for so it's not an issue really. Similar to Touhou, dialogue is very minimal.

I am not a fan of the shop system. I understand wanting to keep people playing, but having to collect coins to unlock higher difficulties can be very tedious. I think it would've worked well for the art gallery, but not much else.

I also would've liked graze to be included somehow. You can hear the noise but there is not indicator and it adds nothing to your score or coin count. Not a big gripe but it's something I always find satisfying and fun.

This game is a real gem and I highly recommend for anyone. It's quirky passion projects like this that I really love and want to support the most. I really want a sequel!

A nice touhou-esque shmup.

The main gimmick is that some stage sections and most of the boss fights are synced to the BGM – this sounds simple, but actually works very well.

The music itself is also pretty good.

In a sea of poorly made Touhou clones, this happens to be a heavily Touhou inspired shmup that for one does (almost) everything right. The soundtrack is amazing, there is creativity shown in the stage design (stage 4 is great) and the pattern design, which often syncs with the soundtrack to make the battles even more tense. The game is also not impossibly difficult (it's actually on the easier side, but there is an extra difficulty in Ultra to compensate).

The menus are in English, but the story is all in Chinese, so I had absolutely no idea what was going on. Not that it really matters.

Why I said (almost) everything right above: mainly the terrible shop system. Lunatic and Ultra are locked behind it, and It's a boring unlocking system that simply requires you to grind by playing through the game a bunch of times. The auto-dodging system, another shop unlockable, is too overpowered, making beating the game a matter of holding a single button.

A very solid and ridiculously entertaining bullet-hell shmup. Everything here is clearly crafted with love and care. The game might not have the highest production values, but the music is pumpin', the anime girls are well-drawn, the bullet patterns are gorgeous, and the controls are tight. In addition, the fact that the bullets fly in time to the fantastic soundtrack makes the gameplay in Barrage Musical that much more immersive.

A must-play for fans of Touhou and Cave shooters. Highly recommended.

For those who enjoy games like Touhou project and are familiar with bullet hells, I would recommend this game. It's overall a fun game, with challenging difficulty. Charaters are bit bland, the backgrounds should have some touch ups, and the English translation isn't perfect. However, the music is wonderful, and I love how barrages go to the beat of the music; especially in the 2nd stage where the music speeds up and down which is very fun to play. Another intresting thing is when it would change from a vertial shooter to a top down shooter.

Overall, I think the game needs some polishing along with some more characters to play as. I think the game could probably be a bit cheaper since it's a rather short game, but $10 isn't bad.

Hope to see more games like this in the future!

Solid, and not too difficult, Touhou-inspired shooter. The attacks being timed to the music is a nice feature, one that I'm surprised Touhou proper has never leaned into. EN translation's pretty bad but otherwise no complaints. Doris' theme is a banger.

This is a game that attempts to do a lot of important and related things all at once. For the most part, it does so. Just trying puts it into the circle of the elites, but Dànmù Yīnyuèhuì dares to edge out its contemporaries.

The 3D modeling could be better, I guess. The English script could use some work, and I'm sure the Japanese one could too. I think an attack or two might be too easy or too hard for where it's fought. There's a certain thread to the overall game design that I disagree with, but very few others do.

As you can see, finding real issues with the game is an exercise in grasping at straws. Particularly, the flimsy kind that tear far too easily. Buy Dànmù Yīnyuèhuì at full price ($9.99!), please.

Chinese product, a competent clone of Touhou's style of Shmup, with emphasis on sound system.

I'm not a specialist of Touhou's side of Shmups, but even knowing that you can believe that the gamedesign is widely acceptable right here. Scoring system is heavily linked with survey, and the system hitself is pretty competent too.
The OST is great and the general rythm of the game is nothing to complain about, only cons to me are the weak challenge on normal mode (but you got superior difficulty levels, so its alike Touhou games i guess), and the fact that all menus are in (simplified, but still) Chinese, so i haven't found a clue to make my D-pad works on this game. And playing with analogic stick, even from a XONE controller, is no good to me. At all.
Otherwise, i would recommend this danmaku for anyone who want something different, or obviously for any Zun's enthousiast.
Until Touhou 16's arrival on Steam, that's it i guess.
