"Apocalypse brought us freedom" said a stranger man named Marius. Nobody knew him before, but he showed another path beside the one which is going behind the walls that built by who is responsible of this breakdown. In a few months he was controlling thousands of men. Then he has ordered men to fill the diesel to the engines...
The great war ended by a ceasefire after desolation of the earth. Only a very small population of people were living safely behind the walls of self governed cities which appeared after the breakdown of the countries. While cities were guarded by the walls, outland was under control of a doomsday cult which was led by a stranger man named Marius. As an individualist, Marius convinced groups to act against the cities. His idea spreaded quickly due to the post war conjunctures.
The only transportation way is being used between the cities was railroad. All the resource trade is made with highly armored diesel trains called "The Dreadnought"s. Our character takes his place in a dreadnought by joining the "regiment".

All you do in this game is shoot at people in cars as they fall off the back of the train.
You find yourself on a moving train and you are responsible for the defense of this train as bandits are after the goods that the train is carrying.
They are not nice to you so you should not be nice to them, start shooting them from the moment they are visible.
The game mainly consists of a monotonous gameplay in which you have to protect a moving train with the help of firearms and where you build strong glutes by bending over for incoming projectiles.

Really love this game, the developer has obviously put a lot of time into the environment and has a great imagination, set in some kind of Stalinist dystopia/Mad Max style world that would make a great movie.
I really wish they would develop it more with interaction with the towns but that might be something for a sequel?
Even on sale, it's not worth it. I don't know how someone can make Mad Max boring and repetitive. It's a waste of money unless the developer puts more work into it.
Abandonware
Its fun for first 15 minutes, tideous for the next 45 minutes as you try to unlock new weapons and realize that the second tier guns are the only guns after your starting pistols.
Oh, and lack of enemies and lack of levels and lack of pretty much everything.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
This is an on-rails wave shooter where you can duck behind cover. I paid $2.99 USD for this game during the Steam Summer Sale 2018. Even at that sale price, I cannot recommend this game. It's pretty clear that it's a ripoff of the very good game, Thirst VR. They are both on rails shooters where you are on a locomotive and shoot at the bad guys (or are they good guys?) who are shooting and chasing after you for some reason.
Thirst VR is fun, adrenaline-fueled intense arcade action. Diesel Express is just plain boring. I tried to play 1 hour to give it a fair shake, but I really struggled for those last 30 minutes. I wanted to stop playing early on and just tried my best to keep going thinking maybe at some point the game would become interesting. I went through all the stops. If I remember correctly, there are 6 paths. There are guns to unlock. There is easy and hard difficulty. As far as I could tell, the only difference between easy and hard was the annoying, immersion-breaking big red reticle on easy mode.
I was just so bored playing this game that I couldn't last a whole hour playing it. I wanted to shoot myself. Other than the snow, and strange things like a ship laying in the middle of the desert, I couldn't tell the difference between one level or the next. It was always the same enemies and they always did exactly the same thing. The guns did feel a little different, but they take a while to unlock. The differences are so minor that it's not worth it.
The graphics are subpar. I had pop-in issues in the background regardless of whether it was on high or low settings. The VR environments looked bland and uninspired .... which actually matches the gameplay. This is a .99 cents USD game at best ... good for like 20 minutes of entertainment at most. You can duck behind cover and pretend it all matters before you notice how repetitive this POS really is.
Rate 4/10. I think maybe I would rate positive if it were free to play ... maybe or more than likely give a neutral score of 5/10 ... that's how bland this game is
A good experience. However, the front or back of the train or even the track can never be seen. Seems more like travelling on a truck. After several minutes of play, the enemies become repetitive and game becomes boring.
No accuracy in the shooting experience.
Like a cross between Indiana Jones and Mad Max. But mainly Mad Max. The premise is simple but effective; defend the train from the marauding band of vehicles.
The sense of being in an action scene is palpable! Do you go for the driver or the gunner? If I can waste the driver of the car in front of the upcoming truck, will it cause a pile up? The mayhem of seeing various vehicles piling up with passengers thown around, and often going under the wheels of ongoing bad guys, often creating further anarchy, is what really gives this game an edge.
There are some minor niggles; the targeting of guns feels pretty random. Though I found that when trying to slightly lead the targets it seemed to help (they are moving after all).
I'm really looking forward to how this game develops. But regardless, this is going to be my go to 'VR fix' for a long time. This game deserves to succeed.
As fellow devs, we appreciate the effort and level of quality already exhibited in this early access title. We love watching cars veer away after killing the driver and the pile-up that happens when cars collide. We definitely have some things that we would love to see improved, but for an early access title Diesel Express delivers an exhilerating experience different from any we have ever played.
-Make the shooting more accessible. It's really hard to know when you're hitting something.
-The red effect indicating damage should fade away eventually. Make it easier to understand when you're being hit.
-Currently the mission selection starts at 6 which is more of a UX thing. It would be nice to have levels given to the player in some kind of progression.
-We'd love some lore about each route, even if it's a sound clip or line of writing. Your world is so cool!
-Can we please shoot tires out? Maybe you can do that already, it's just hard to tell.
Altogether a great experience that we're going to be following closely! Great work!
The setting and thematics of the game are fun - a dash of Mad Max, some SteamPunk, and a smattering of WWII thrown in for good measure. Currently the hitbox detection is abysmal, and I haven't figured out how much I need to raise my weapon to hit more than 25% of the time, which detracts from the gameplay. This is still in early access though, so there's time for improvement.
EDIT: Dedicated developer - listens and implements, so I have revised my review. Support this dev!
