This is an episodic game and doesn't feature all the episodes, yet. The season pass includes all five episodes. Every episode will be available for download upon release.
What would you do if you found yourself trapped on an eerie space station with nothing but a computer? Play as the hacker Alex and save the world from your keyboard as a sinister A.I. rises from the corner of the universe... but you are not the only one who acts from the shadows. Monsters lurk in the dark and soon humanity itself is in danger. When analog and digital worlds collide, only a master of both can survive.
Code 7 is a hacking thriller in which your imagination is the stage. The things unseen are the most terrifying ones... travel the network, gather information from e-mails, documents, and logs, hack protected computers, and navigate your partner through dangerous situations. Work together, gain their trust and make the right choices. The outcome of the story is determined by how you act and what you say.

Reminiscent of Inscryption and ShadowRun. Good fun, intuitive interface, great story. 10/10
This is an awesome game.
The story is imersive and deep. The hacking gameplay is cool and fun and the voice acting really makes this game stand out. The fact the game has a mode for blind users makes me really happy, being blind myself. Only issue I have with this is that it's not finished. Episode 4 is not out and I doubt it will, as we haven't gotten updates in 3 years.
If you're looking for an awesome story game, this delivers.
Honestly - none of my friends own this game, but I'm sure a lot of them would have an absolute blast with this title.
Yes, it takes a bit of time to learn how everything in this game works, but all that really shows is this isn't the 799th ripoff of the most popular adventure-inde game.
Yes, the text based controls take time to get used to and can be a little wonky, yes while the voice acting is usually pretty good - it's not perfect. It has an amount of polish that is a bit beyond what you'd expect for a less-than-popular game currently sold for $5.99.
Personally I found the game legitimately exciting, nerve wracking, even giggling at some jokes, or some silly audio log by some side-character voice actor.
Seriously, I can't promise that you'll love this game, but on average you'd be spending more at your local Starbucks than the developer is asking for a game that they truly put a lot of effort into. If you love the game you'll have no problem buying the season pass, if you didn't care for the game you're not wasting $26 on all 4 episodes - win/win.
Would have been great if they finished it, but it looks like they took the money from the season pass and ran. Decent game turned into a disappointing scam with no ending. This is one to avoid.
I was happy to try this game as there are only a few really good games in this genre.
I like the story and the voice-overs. It was nicely built up.
On the hacking part it's really light, I hoped it would go a bit more in depth but this makes it more accessible to a bigger audience.
Maybe a little con is the slow movement of the characters. I would imagine if they're in a haste they would walk/run faster.
Looking forward to play the next episodes.
Edit for trigger warning:
Beware BYG trope.

Original Review:
brilliant game, absolutely love it.
By far one of the best games that i've played in the last 12 months.
Brilliant voice actors, great story, loads to find and figure out.
I did need to clarify a few settings options for streaming but even that was super quick and easy.
Compelling story and great voice acting. Challenging enough that you fell a sense of accomplishment when you finish a puzzle, yet not so challenging that you're throwing you're punching your computer in rage and frustration.
Edit: Not a spoiler or anything, just a sort of easter egg. In Episode 2, when you're in the club, go to the EIU computer. Navigate through the network until you find a computer called "PALEXPC". From there, go to Files > Documents > TALKR2028. The rest is clear.....
"Story driven" not promised too much. It's of course not "real hacking", but it's fun and the mini games are well dosed.
I definitely enjoyed the game and the story so far (EP 00-01) and consider buying the upcoming episodes
I'm hooked. What an excellent game! I'm surprised I haven't come across it before. Can't believe Steam hadn't suggested it to me.
Picked this up quite by accident last night whilst searching for a different game... Played Episode 0 and just had to get back on to it today. Given Episode 0 only took about 1.5 hours playing fairly cautiously, I really didn't expect it to take me another 3.5 hours to get through Episode 1... Alright, I do like to fully explore in a game like this, but I think most people do if they enjoy this kind of title. So I'm very much looking forward to the next couple of episodes and it looks like the fifth instalment (episode 4) is well into development. Something tells me I won't want to wait once I get to that point. Excellent value for money so far!
I don't normally bother with reviews, but given how surprisingly good this hidden gem is, I thought it deserved the time and I thoroughly recommend it. For those who like a little more detail (without any spoilers), here you go:
Graphics: - It's a text adventure, but it runs smoothly and quickly... no graphical glitches. The animations are appropriate to the story and setting. Everything looks "right". 9/10
Music: - Fantastic... just fantastic! Does exactly what great game music should do. 10/10
Voice acting: - I can't imagine how difficult it must be to bring characters to life without the aide of visual communication, but this is about as good as I've come across. Some very occasional and very minor cutting issues - presumably where lines are recorded at different times then put together... no overlaps or anything, more emotional oddities such as a character seeming calm in one sentence then emotionally charged in the next even though ti's a continuous speech and nothing has changed. I'm being very picky though! 9/10
Story: - So far, completely captivating. I may revisit this once I've completed the game, but unless something goes seriously wrong, this is shaping up to be a fantastic story arch. For every moment I find myself thinking "I saw that one coming" there's a least one far bigger "how the hell did I miss that?" or "wow, did that just happen?"... very impressive and engaging. Even a touch emotional at times. 10/10
Game-play: - Essentially a text-based adventure, well constructed with plenty of puzzles that are enough to get me thinking without tearing my hair out. Haven't come across any annoying dead-ends as of yet and everything flows nicely, seemingly regardless of the route you try and take, the game gets you to the right path comfortably and without anything feeling forced. Keyboard only controls with a nice "hacking" element to it. If you are a fan of text adventures or any hacking type games, this is for you. Also, the occasional time-based challenge appears which generally will require you to use the skills that you have developed to be applied quickly and accurately. These challenges are tough, but failure only sets you back to the start of the challenge, so it's not painful. 8/10
Replay-ability: - Looks to me that there are some achievements which are dependant on taking different paths in the game, so there will be a reason to replay, but I'm not sure this is really the kind of game that would be particularly rewarding if replayed... not that I imagine it was designed to be.
Overall: - Engaging, entertaining, attractive, challenging and that soundtrack! 9/10... And that could easily move up a notch by the time I'm done with it!
I have to say, this is a great episodic game! The story has been good, nice VA work, and a thrilling narrative. I hope this will be done with EP 4, and that it will be a great end to Code 7. The devs did nice work despite it being unfinished with one more ep left.
This is one of few story-driven games that can actually pull off a convoluted plot. Far too many story-driven games have either (1) a plot twist you can spot in the first 5 minutes (2) a plot twist so far out in left-field that you just don't believe it and lose interest or (3) a singular hook that might be good, even epic, but you get just one. This one has convoluted plot, interesting themes, and I'd say engaging game play.
The game play is largely based on you directing your partner (different one each episode so far) around various stations gathering information, supplies, passcodes, keys, .... Their kickstarter describes it as a "fully voiced text adventure", and that's not a bad description for how your partner will describe what they are seeing while you're looking at a computer screen with network information and a map. And the superb sound effects allow them more than once to have tension as you can clearly hear that something is going wrong before your partner describes the situation.
The one part I don't really care for: They don't have an manual save system, so some of the mutually-incompatible achievements mean you need to replay the entire game unless you enjoy mucking about with the save game folder. And while I like the idea of having choices matter in the ending, I'm wondering how many times I'm willing to replay the entire thing just to have different combinations of which characters trust me. But that's a relatively minor point for completionists --- the story is certainly compelling for the playthrough, and it is worth the money. Especially since they have Episode 0 for free.
Oh, and as a P.S. congratulations to the developers for Rick-rolling me in a secret message!
My entire progress got reset.
Now I have to make backups of my saves.
I need to find out where the saves are located.
I have to replay a text adventure... takes a while.
I feel like an idiot because I bought it before
Episode 4 got released because I wanted to support
this kind of game.
I am not happy.
This Review is not objective.
I am only writing this because I'm annoyed...
Bye.
Edit: Guess what, it happend again...
I have backups now but it still sucks...
Edit 2: 3rd reset, seems like you can only
safely play the episodes if you play them
in one go.
Edit 3: Oh and if you can't type blindly you most likely
won't enjoy this game, especially because sometimes
you have to type pretty fast or otherwise fail.
And the timecritical hackingchallenges are very unlikely
to beat the first time.
Edit 4: One of the develeopers rolled the game to a previous
version, so Autosave is atleast useable again (I couldn't get
a single Autosave to work in Episode 2),however I don't
know if it's entirely fixed, so no guarentees.
Edit 5: I had a reset again, after everything was "supposedly"
fixed and I just finished the game, (because Ep4 isn't out yet)
which shows I guess that beneath this broken savesystem,
is an actually quite interesting game.
But if you have a savesystem that only has 1 file that
randomly f u c k i n g explodes then it is quite hard
to stay positive about it.
WOW - this is an adventure as it should be: exciting, challenging, interesting, varied with a fantastic story and great music! At first "Text-Adventure" almost scared me off, but if you played the first few minutes, you immediately realize that this game can do without any elaborate graphics. It creates a unique atmosphere that captivates the player, requires careful thought and skill, and the decisions you make determine the course of the game. One of the best adventure I have ever played!
First: there are puzzles involving programming in this game. A couple are not all that straightforward. So, be aware. Apart from that, this is an amazing all-text controls based game with fully voiced audio, an awesome story, and cool puzzles that are all story-based. I mean, it has a silly AI controlling a giant robot marveling at how fun it is to battle physically with an intelligent virus that wants to wipe us all out that is controlling another giant robot as background dialog as you reality hack while piggybacking in a holo lens worn by your human friend (or are they human). By the way, you are the digitized brain of a now-dead human. Also, you hack into computers using various skills. It is like old timey text adventures on steriods^2 .
Incredibly well executed and exactly what I want from a story focused hacking game. The episodes aren't quite coming out as fast as I'd like, but they have enough content in each episode that I've already gotten more than my money's worth.
Met the guys at gamescom. They were really nice. I even got a poster by solving one of the challenges at the booth.
But now the game: I actually did not play at the booth. I just talked to the devs and found their ideas really cool and I like how passionate they are about the development of Code 7. I went home and bought it right away. Played Episode 0 in less than an hour. And I was hooked into the story from the get-go.
The Pros:
- really intuitive UI and game design
- good voice acting
- good mix of old text adventure games and modern game design
- good and interesting story
Cons (so far):
- some minor bugs which I will report to the trello board.
All in all I recommend getting this one if you are interested in a text based adventure/hacking game. 17 bucks (as of 08/28/17) devided into 5 episodes is around 3.50€ for each episode. Give these guys a chance. They deserve it.
Really nice hacker game. You indirectly control the sifi story, which is really fine and good voices. Take over systems, communicate with others, control robots, reroute energy and much more. Try the demo, when you like hackers games you will have fun.
Update as of 8th of August 2023:
The game will probably never be finished. Episode 4 is on hold due to the developers having ran out of money and the covid situation. Be aware that if you do buy this game, you will most likely never get to finish it. Despite this I will keep recommending the game because what is there is good, and any purchase might help the developers get back on their feet.
Original Review:
Can't recommend this more. It's simply an amazing game. You really get attached to the characters in the game and the story goes deeper and deeper. The ending of Chapter 1 was amazing. Can't wait for the rest of the chapters. The gameplay was pretty cool though I wish to see some new gameplay mechanics in the other chapters, as it can get a bit repetetive doing the same thing. Introducing a new game mechanic each chapter can make things harder and less repetetive.
Maybe make some more visuals, like accessing a few cameras so you can see what is going on in some places? Accessing the microphone is a cool feature but maybe the ability to access the webcam aswell?
(Small spoiler)
When doing the mission to get the ID card I found myself going back to the Intelligence app to look up the information I needed. Maybe once you discover the things you need make a note on the side revealing the info once gathered it?
Although I've had trouble playing through (mostly) text-based games, Code 7 got me hooked and sucked me in in an instant. The amount of lore found on almost each computer you hack, together with the interesting character writing, add a feeling of great depth to the world. The story itself is top-notch.
While you experience the eery atmosphere of Code 7 almost entirely through the splendidly voiced descriptions of your partner, the interface only consists of a console and a map, with which you need to lead her through corridors and shafts, deactivating obstacles or luring enemies away - all through inline commands.
The minigame sequences, in which you are hacking other computers, are quite fun and get progressively harder.
After a couple of hours with this game, I can very much recommend it to anyone who is interested in a great next gen text adventure that doesn't come along as dry as other games of this genre I've played in the past - on the contrary!
And by the way - the music is awesome!
Did you ever want to be able to type like a hacker in the movies? Code 7 combines a hacker console text adventure with photographs, video and glitch effects to create a great surreal athmosphere. Everything in the game works via your text console commands - even the game options are part of the game. As you go on your adventure a creeping sensation sets in that you might as well be in a Philipp K. Dick novel like Ubique. Are you even human? Are you alive? Is any of this even real? Sam seems real. At least she gets annoyed when I turn the light in her room on and off on her. I guess the only way to find out is to press on..
(Edit: I was mistaken in thinking it comes with all episodes, developer confirmed, I'm just blind) It's fun, slightly challenging, and makes you feel badass about solving puzzles. Voice acting is great most times, and the visual style and controls are cool. The story shines most, as it captivated me and really drove me to keep playing. Great game!
