Peak RTS experience. They don't make many RTSs today, because it doesn't get better than this in the military tech setting.
If you enjoy strategy in the least bit, play it. IF you don't enjoy strategy, still play it.
this game does everthing a rts game should be its good for beginner having missions that lead you through the game and its also dosent punish your play style you can play this game however you want its also verey easy to explore mods and is a good game to get into rts
Awesome game, since it's easy to mod there's an interesting modding scene which does marvels for a simple and small game. Besides, it's really cheap, absolutely no reason not to try it if you like rts.
amazing rts complicated but not too complicated and great mods too
Basically a platform for mods, but a really, really good one. Tons of awesome mods for this, & the vanilla units are cool too.
this game is the most wonderful game i have ever played, best 5 dollars of my life, when i first downloaded it, it was confusing at first until i understood the whole point of it. once i understood it enough i downloaded mods, and it made the game so much better, played the game 2 days in a row, 19 hours, i cant get away from it. im still addicted and still cannot stop playing it.
a great strategy game that takes skill and can be fun with many friends
I don't play it to often, but when I do it somehow keeps me immersed for hours on end.
It's alright I guess, but don't buy this. I was unfortunate not to get around to refunding this before 2 weeks past. This isn't worth it, please I beg you not to buy this. There are so many better RTS games that you could buy rather than this. This one is just dull and empty.
If you want an RTS game so badly then just get Halo Wars.
5/10
I have never been a fan of any games remotely like Rusted Warfare. I would even say that I strongly dislike most games that that are similar to Rusted Warfare. However, one thing holds true. I love Rusted Warfare.
Rusted Warfare: 9/10
Amazing game, mods are awesome, lack of a grid layout is lame, but if i was more into RTS games at the moment I would sink hundreds of hours into it.
This is a fun game specially for modding, yet the AI is overreliant in flooding small units for suicidal attacks instead of going for the late-game and experimental units; making the game over-reliant on turrets.
Pros:
- Very moddable
- A lot of unit variety
- Good performance
- Ability to increase game speed in PC
- Good control scheme also for mobile
Cons:
- Stagnant gameplay reliant on defense.
- Bad sound effect design, seems made with sticks (music is OK).
At the end, the unit variety vs. AI is more for what way you will kill your enemy.
In Very Hard challenge missions, things get more interesting and you might have to salvage your own units to progress (I won everything in Very Hard).
Online gameplay is another beast entirely, it has a very high skill ceiling.
I would reccomend to download mods such as Unrusted Warfare in order to make the game more dynamic and less defensive. There are also several total conversions and the game is cheap.
Main downside is that the game is no longer being developed.
This game is such a hidden gem. The mods, man. The mods are just crazy.
I've ignored the wife and kids for the last 4 days and I have no regrets.
5 stars from me. So reasonably priced too, just awesome.
A real RTS hidden gem in my opinion.
The AI is far from the best but the game truly shines playing with others and playing modded content.
i used to play a roblox game that was quite similar to this, good stuff
HOLY THIS GAME IS AMAZING ! COULD NOT FIND A GAME THAT CAN FASCINATE ME LIKE RUSTED WARFARE!
RTS in its purist form. I do miss the usual "building ..." / "our base is under attack" voice prompt part. Shouldn't be that hard to implement with speech synthesizer. Maybe a mod?
I'm terrible at writing reviews so I will keep this short.
For the price of ~£4 I have had over 170 hours of enjoyment.
Of this 170 hours, the majority has been vanilla, (though there are some fantastic mods out there). It has also been purely single player, as I personally have never been interested in the multiplayer aspect.
So, if you are a potential new player and are worried about struggling to find online games, or being overwhelmed by where to start with modding, you can get more than your money's worth using only the most basic features that this game has to offer.
I'd be mad to not recommend it 10/10.
Very fun RTS game. I found the demo for it on my phone and liked it so i got the full game on steam. The full game is great and the mods for the game makes it not repetitive and fun.
great strategy game with endless modding possibilities, and it isnt even hard to understand basic modding.
I've played this game both on computer and on tablet, this is good game!
a nice try of indie RTS game, but unfortunately bland.
lack of good music and sound effect make this game less exciting and dead silent. i just turn off the ingame music and play my own music playlist, unit destruction sounds like knocking on steel plates. no notification sound on building construction, not even a beep as alert after being attacked, only silence. just feel sleepy after matches.
barebone RTS content kills fun. limited base expansion and oversimplified economy (only cash) cause less strategy and lacking depth
UI is functional, but nothing beyond that. it's just a rough squares with text on it.
even its modding community don't save this game from complete bland.
Rusted Warfare is a great RTS game and I hate myself for not playing it sooner, it has a far simpler gameplay whilst also not being too shallow. Unlike other RTS games where you have 5 different resources to collect, Rusted only has 1 that being money. It has tons of units to choose from and even more buildings offering their own uses. My favourite being the repair bay, not only can it repair units and buildings but also build new ones that you place. This game even has nuclear bombs that awaken my Obama mind sending spy drones to bomb my friends to a fine dust. The limit on how many units you can have so at the end game you’ll have these massive battles that’ll go on for ages. It also has its own workshop with a fairly small modding community, but plenty of other ways to play the game and a ton of new maps. Honestly a great RTS game especially for the price.
This is a certified Robberdollar review
underrated rts game with great modding ability
Nice total annihilation-like game
this game is fun and all until you are playing against 屁股歼灭者 and 专业花盆吃者 and they destroy your base in less than a minute
beatifull game if you like rts.
This is one of, if not the greatest RTS warfare games ever created. The mods make it have endless playability. Over the last 5+ years I've owned this I've played nearly 500 hours. It's in my top 3 favorite games ever.
Such a nice game even if it has a small modding community and didnt have a update for almost 3 years
When I am commanding my endless armies in Rusted Warfare I am brought back to the Glory days of Command and Conquer by Westwood Studies.
worth, just the first few matches and its already enough bang for a buck or 2 ($). Then there is the modding community behind it, and well its whatever you want it to be, worth lol.
Definitely recommend using the workshop content rather than playing base game. even though the AI likes to cheat.
great little rts game mods add a lot to it to
Because the insane amount of total conversions you essentialy get like 20 games not 1, this alone is Reason enough to buy it.
IF YOU EXPERIENCE CRASHES OR WANT TO PLAY WITH MANY MODS:
If you go into the Files and edit Fallback64.bat you can change it from 1000m to 8G (more is possible), and now you have more RAM. Then you add -steam and use the .bat file to launch the game from now on. This got rid of every crash for me and i can play huge battles, in one battle i killed about 6 million parasites from the infestation in the combat expanded mod.
I will do it again 10/10
From TAF to this, Runs extremely well on a laptop// its game engine is great, im even playing with phone hotspot wifi with and against Chinese and: though i dont immediately make turrets in a front line position, costing us the game, NO One makes anti ground XD a truly classic experience 12/10 just gifted my friends. Enjoy!
DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THIS GAME!! Graphically, its easy to pass over, but would be missing a depth of strategy and an explosion of mods that give this game so much content. Yes, it looks like its a 90's era RTS the likes of Starcraft or Warcraft (btw, there are mods which pay heavy homage to both of those games), but this game is more akin to Supreme Commander game play wise.
While there are smaller maps for the quick 2 player skirmish, the potential for scale is enormous. The scale and unit capacity is massive especially on maps such as various Earth, China and Japan, and others where even a 5 v 5 epic war will take hours to achieve dominance, and the battle will rage over air, land, and sea.
My personal recommendation is to use Major Experimentals mod. There are just insane model sprites for obscenely powerful units. If it's not obvious, I love this game.
If you have a small group of friends who love the strategy genre, BUY THIS GAME and it will give you many an evening of strategic and tactical entertainment, at a very affordable price I might add.
This is more of a modding engine than anything. Just try it
Simple, fantastic RTS with Workshop support. For sure worth the 5 bucks
This game is fucking incredible, it needs more love
bad
Tried to give it a chance, Shouldnt have given it a chance its mid at best shit at worst
best strategy game ever its totally worth playing.
Fun game, reminds me of C&C red alert.
10/10
Very good game and I like how you can customize it to whatever you want.
hella fun. the mods are cool
Super simple, classic style RTS... Until you realize that the game is "secretly" a neatly packaged sandbox/framework that just happens to come with a "default set" of fun stuff to play around with, resulting in GLORIOUS MOD MAYHEM as soon as you click into that ever convenient workshop tab.
Good game vanilla, nice and simple and fun with a few neat mechanics like multi-weapon single entities, GREAT game when mods are taken to account. More than worth the measly $5 for possibly dozens of hours of messing around, likely more if you find/have a group to play with.
The AI is surprisingly robust too, which is a huge plus as it massively improves the replay factor. They can be adapted to use mod mechanics with noteworthy reliability given the number of mods with clearly unique mechanics(Some a wildly different game) still function almost completely fine with AI bots as it does with players.
Decent cheap strategy game, very simple too
I played on Medium Difficulty, here are the playtime stats:
The game has 10 Campaign missions (no real story just different maps that become more challenging)
It took me 5.3 hours to beat them.
The game has 7 Challenge missions (much more challenging than Campaign missions) -
It took me 8.7 hours to beat them.
There are 48 Skrimish maps (Including the Campaign and Challenge Maps) all of which give the game great replayability.
There are also mods for it but I haven't played any yet.
I would definitely recommend this game, even for the original price it is amazing.
