Weird combat mechanic

The story makes no goddamn sense and the characters are corny as hell, but the combat system somehow still manages to make up for its many flaws.
What remarkable game ,very different and unique. Could do some character developement in other way and the story as well,never the less a good plot . I really hope for a sequel some day .

I was going to write an essay but really nobody will ever read this so suffice to say I'm giving this a thumbs up but 95% of the population of Earth will hate this game but it does have several interesting things to it and it's not a bad game, it's just incredibly niche even by JRPG standards.
Explaining the beauty of this game is hard because to get to the cheesy goodness you first have to go through the hard outer shell of learning how the relatively complex battle system works. Basically, this is a JRPG that plays like a John Woo film. Each character uses handguns, submachine guns, and grenades to defeat steampunk themed monsters in a stylistic fashion that involves a lot of aerial acrobatics as well as some anime-inspired gunplay. Each element must be used in tandem (this includes jumping) to defeat enemies that creates a thrilling experience for those who take the time to learn it.
The world itself takes place in a giant tower far above the earth, on a map which contains hexes that must be unlocked using drops from enemies to create paths to other towns and dungeons. This also gets relatively complex as you must use specific pieces in a tetris-like fashion to unlock pathways to new locales.
The characters themselves are absolutely hysterical and often laugh out loud funny, especially Vashyron, who will keep you glued to the end of each chapter.
The battles themselves can be quite difficult depending on how well of a grasp you have on the battle system. Basically, enemies (sometimes with outer armor layers) must be weakened with SMG fire, then finished off with handguns, in its basic form. Combat takes place in turns with each character being able to move freely within a set range, including the "anchor" feature, which creates a movement axis which you character follows while allowing for attacks that launch the enemy into the air. The complexity gets a bit deeper from there, but that's the general gist of battles.
What results is an insane symphony of acrobatic gunplay and stylistic dive shots that are incredibly well animated and will blow you away. Each character can use up to two handguns or SMGs at a time which can also be customized to hilarious levels using various weapon attachments on a blueprint grid which expands the weapon attributes and abilities.
All in all an Resonance of Fate/End of Eternity is an awesome game and one of the most fun and engaging JRPGs I've ever played in my life. A true hidden gem and a must play if you like lots of complexity and tons of gunslinger style to your JRPG combat.

The story is a bit jumbled and hard to understand and you have no idea who your team mates are. I put about 2 hours in and while I was curious about where the game was going, there were too many design flaws for me to keep playing. The gameplay/combat mechanics took a bit of time to understand as this is a game that does not hold your hand. You will be expected to figure it out as you go.
This game is incredibly frustrating at point and is definitely not a beginner JRPG. They have a very interesting way at game progression that has use solving puzzles in the for of 'hex placement' on the world map. All of the characters are pretty weird, which I like. Buy this at a discount or if you're looking for something dated and sweet buy at full price if you absolutely can't wait. 7/10 so far.
When people call the game difficult, its not skill based its just cheap bs. Like I dont get who decided to allow you to do side crap without any indicator that you might be way too below the required lv, and the kicker once you enter thats it youre stuck there until you get lucky, like lotto winner lucky or get pissed off and reload.
Do like the characters and their chemistry, its on par with 2000's animus. Again all that charm and unique combat falls flat cause of the bs you will experience and the grinding required to make it easier for yourself, so Im not confident in recommending it
I just finish the game and this game freakin awesome! I spent more than 100 hours to get all the achievements till 100%...the gameplay very unique....to be honest for the first time you will be confused about how to play it, but after you understand, you'll feel this is absolutely genius!! You need to learn how to manage every single attack and defense, of course leveling is very important! But upgrading for the gun (Weapon) is the most satisfying in this game! Trust me!!! If you JRP-Turn Base fans, you will love this game.....Hopely Tri-Ace can make a squel for next RoF….

this has been an amazing game so far, combat is fun, upgrade system is neat, and the story has me hooked so far. dont listen to anyone complaining about no guide, explanation of the game mechanics, or mission points, just talk to npcs and read the dialogue and you'll be okay. ps go to the arena and do the combat tutorial AND do side quests

Couldn't put this game down once I started playing it,ROF is a game that has an acquired taste the battle system isn't the most easy to understand once you start playing it.Once you begin to understand how the hero gauge works armor on enemies and scratch damage weapons everything starts to come together!.The game has an extremely addicting game play loop it was all I could play for weeks !,the story is a little obscure but going online looking at a review cleared up a lot of questions for me and explains why the world is so drab and gray respectfully.There is some very clear game-play flaws and design flaws like your hero gauge getting wiped or you going into condition zero once you lose all your health things such as that may sour the experience for beginners.Once you get into the game-play learn the game by ear .ROF might end up being one of your favorite games of all time or one of the worst game experiences you've ever played,to summarize ROF is a refreshing and unique experience unlike any other RPG you will play highly recommend!

My complete save says 60 hours, Steam says 68 so apparently I spent 8 hours just dying and retrying fights.
Resonance of Fate is a one-of-a-kind RPG, which I say not with overwhelming praise or snide condescension, but mostly as a neutral comment that literally I have probably never played anything like this and I will never play anything like it again.
That being said, I generally like the game. Its combat system is a a unique style of ATB whose closest comparison is probably Valkyria Chronicles, where you have free movement over a field over a set turn which you extend by flipping into the air and becoming Simone Biles with bloodlust. Its story is a subdued series of episodes about the daily lives of your team of odd-job monster hunters that eventually builds into the pope trying to kill you to prove miracles aren't real. Typical JRPG stuff.
But it's a like, not a love. The game feels underfed in many ways. It shows the marks of the PS3 era that it comes from which was not very kind to this type of game. The brown grungy graphics, the underwritten script which could have really shone with some editing, the dungeons are all kind of samey, the combat system though fun and often challenging lacks quality RPG progression, and the sidequests especially towards the end are really tedious. It feels like this was a game done on a tight budget and it also feels like it wasn't given much love in the porting to modern platforms.
Despite all that, I still feel like it was a good experience, and I'm glad to have played it. It's a weird game, and its better that games like this exist jankily than not exist at all. Also the game lets you dress-up the characters and doesn't charge for cosmetics. That's real gameplay innovation that modern AAA could never do.
weird control and no sign for the building to indicate what the place is, you literally going blind on the city, take the quest, no idea who to talk until you get out from the city and immediatly get killed by random enemies because you don't know how the battle mechanic works. It sad because the cutscenes actually looks really good, and i hear that this game have a great story, but because this game was released during experimental era, it kinda make it hard to play. (i think wifu with guns are cool though)

Great RPG, LEGENDARY battle system. Easily top 10 best battle systems of all time, right up there with Grandia 2/Xtreme. This game is also really hard and you cant really overcome the difficulty with grinding. The replay value is extremely high.

Has no autosaves and the only place you can save is at your base. So if you end up in a fight you can't win on a another level your only option is to potentially lose hours of progress by reverting to your last homebase save. Also mired by a lack of PC features, inexplicable frame drops, telling you "not turn your console off when saving", etc, etc. Utter excrement tier PC port and "Remaster".
Don't sleep on this unique, kino, diamond in the rough JRPG.
It's pretty fun.
A JRPG with a very unique battle system that makes every battle looks like the player is in the Matrix or a John Woo film. Couple that with a story that knows how to take itself seriously while being funny and light hearted at parts make this a very entertaining experience.
The only problem is that the world is way too saturated in grey, brown and black. Though there is a lore reason for it in game, more colourful area or places where it is not a rundown factory or industrial zones should be included to brighten up the game and give it more variety.
