Well, here we are. I described the first game as being brilliant but looking back on it after playing the second, it starts to look as if FC was a glorious prolog. It wasn't, but compared with how superb SC is, it might as well have been. Its to be expected all the same, as the first game does a lot to introduce the characters and the world in a meaningful way. Something I would say, for the most part, it succeeds.
Still, jumping over all that SC is an amazing game that you must play. Granted, it has its flaws: repetitiveness points in the game were you run around the country to advance the plot (like a checklist), the long playtime of the game (which I don't consider to be a flaw, especially because of its story that is brilliant but i know some might) and a few other minor tidbits.
The story is at the core of why this game is so loved. Go play it. If you love it, go on to the next games (that I hear are fire as well). If you don't, then I'm sorry for you, guess its just not your cup of tea. But all the same, do try. I assure you that it's worth at the very least that.
To end this, I want to give just one piece of advice to those that will go on to play the game and that is: Stick with it. There are repetitive portions as I'v said but trust me its worth it and from what I've heard it only gets better from here on. Don't make the same mistake as me, where I played through to the final chapter and then leave it for months on end. You'll still enjoy it, as I have but it wont feel the same.
That's it from me, hopefully you do at least give it a try, especially if your on the fence regarding whether you should continue with the series or not.
Finally, The Legend of Heroes Trails in the Sky SC is a superb game. I do so ever hope you all enjoy it just as much as I did.
A fantastic sequel that builds on the strengths of the first game—deeper combat, higher stakes, and some truly memorable character moments. Trails in the Sky SC delivers on the payoff from FC in a big way, with a more intense story and a broader scope that feels earned.
That said, it’s not without its rough edges. A big drawback is the forced party composition—for nearly half the game, you’re stuck with certain characters whether you like them or not, which limits strategic flexibility and can be frustrating if you’ve grown attached to other units.
And yes, there's that chapter: the one where you’re stuck backtracking without magic. It slows the game down considerably and feels like a punishment rather than a challenge.
Despite these issues, the highs far outweigh the lows. If you loved FC, you owe it to yourself to see this story through. Just be ready for a few bumps along the way.
The Legend of Heroes: Infinite Tears
10/10
while this is the second game in the trails in the sky, it feels more like the first game was split into two. As this game perfectly continues off the ending of the first chapter and concludes the story in a satisfying way while expanding on the characters. All and all 8/10 I really enjoyed this and look forward to the rest of the games on my legend of hero journey.
Masterpiece of a game
This game is not only an improvement over the first in terms of story, but also gameplay and gives meaningful payoff to events and characters set up in the first game. Trails in the Sky SC is really the perfect sequel and an amazing jrpg in its own right. With the Trails in the Sky the 1st just around the corner, I eagerly await for this amazing game to get the remake treatment too.
this might be one of the best games of all time. other games have hit me emotionally, sometimes even HARDER emotionally, but NONE of them were as consistent in the character writing and emotions department as this game. genuinely one of the best jrpg main parties ive ever seen, the chemistry is outstanding, and the themes the game tries to get across fit this chemistry insanely well and it feels real and not shoehorned like lots of game themes tend to feel sometimes.
the main story is really intriguing and the character moments stemming from it are (obviously) amazing, the gameplay is nothing mega special but its still fun, the dungeons are VASTLY improved from the first.
PLEASE play this game, its genuinely outstanding.
man, where the fuck is this 7 chests i missed? fuck you Cassius
One of the greatest JRPGs ever.
Game is actually difficult on Nightmare but satisfying once you beat it.
The characters are one of the best casts in a JRPG, with Estelle and Joshua being one of the best protagonist/deuteragonist duos ever.
As always with Falcom, story and worldbuilding are off the charts on this entry. I really enjoyed that they gave satisfying conclusions on setups that were built from FC's story. Especially Loewe, who is also another really good character.
Only complaint is the first chapter of this game is weird from a gameplay and story standpoint, they reset your orbments and I really felt like the story of the first chapter of SC could have been in FC instead.
A 10/10 game for sure.
Well, if you made it through the first game I don't think you'll need a review to decide if you're moving full steam ahead or jumping off the train before you're locked in for life. Personally, I think I'm locked in.
SC is a satisfying conclusion, but it does take its sweet time getting rolling. The majority of the game retreads familiar territory, which I found slightly disappointing. But catching up with the events throughout Liberl was still a delight. Plenty of great character moments and exciting plot developments finally start happening after the halfway point.
Estelle's personal journey is the highlight of SC. There are a few standout moments with her character, particularly in the opening and during a certain reunion later in the game, that are so well-written. The whole game has great writing, that's really the main appeal of the series, but these moments exploring Estelle's grief, growth, and resolve are so good they almost feel like they're from a different game. The length of these two games gives so much breathing room for her arc to have gradual, relatable development, and the payoff sticks the landing.
On the other hand, the stuff with the menacing secret society? Not so great, featuring a collection of villains with weak motivations and a few character designs that feel straight out of a 2006 DeviantArt page. But you do eventually get to beat them up, so that's nice.
While I think the Crossbell arc as a whole remains the strongest of the series, this is THE top of the Trails mountain for me. Love coming back to it time and again, absolute classic in every possible regard. Also the true start of Anton's long, ridiculous arc (I know he's in the first one, but this is where his story REALLY gets going).
10/10 game. excellent flow, amazing story. A game where you set it to hard and its actually challenging. Father Kevin, Olivier.
Just as good as the first game 10/10.
ruined my ability to enjoy a video game without Olivier Lenheim in it
The MC is Estelle, she has a very large stick, she also hits things with it a lot.
Great story. Play the game.
aj says play trails in the sky
This game takes everything you love about the first installment and ramps it up. It's great addition to a wonderful series.
Trails in the Sky SC is one of the best jrpgs ever made and one of my favorite games I have ever played. Fantastic follow up to FC with some of the best characters in any game. A story with so many twists and turns that all leads up to a perfect climax and ending. Top tier gameplay with very in depth character building ( along with a pretty sizable amount of playable characters ), amazingly well written music and one of the most developed worlds of any game I have seen. Any fan of JRPGS HAS to play FC and especially this game. Even after playing other trails games this one is still my favorite. A masterpiece in every sense of the word. A true diamond among gems.
Giving this review after finishing 1, 2 and 3.
No spoilers, but will be a collected review of the 3 games, as they are directly tied together.
1 was amazing, nice pacing, nice story(its only the beginning of a rly interesting story)
Fun characters, comedy, action, abit of.. romance.
2 was just as amazing, directly tied together with 1, i instantly jumped into it to keep going through the story.
Same as 1, fun characters, comedy, but this time more action, more suspense. Very nice.
3 felt alittle slower, but still very good once it got going. It also follows the events of the first 2 games, alot of backstory for the characters we love aswell as setting up future story lines. So very good to go through.
Overall Trails in the Sky as a trilogy, very solid, It is is a long one, but its a good one.
Now onto Crossbell(Zero and Azure)!
Имба, сюжет 10/10, и спасибо за тошноту на финальном боссе
Easily in my top 3 games of all time, what a masterpiece
Trails in the Sky SC is an even better sequel than I'd thought. It did a great job providing amazing payoffs for all the intricate story threads that the first game created. Having played the Cold Steel games before this, I can now see that the formula of how Trails games "build on" to their sequels is well established here. From the expanded game mechanics to the pace of how the story unfolds, SC does a marvelous job of grabbing the player's interest considering how slow FC was. Revisiting areas from the previous game can be a bit of a chore but thankfully the game provided a good enough experience through interesting quests and NPC interaction that I never really got too bored except for a few places. If I have any complaint about the Sky series so far, its that both FC and SC should never have been split into two different games to begin with. In a narrative sense, the FC really suffers because of this and I can imagine quite a lot of players dropping the series because FC didn't do a good enough job of really informing the player of the ambitious story that the series is trying to tell.
I don't really need to say this but I'll say it anyway, SC is a must play if you've played the first game. Players will be doing themselves a disservice if they didn't jump onto this game immediately after the first one as this game really fleshes out what the series is all about from both a narrative and gameplay standpoint.
Easily one of the best and most fun series of games.
このシリーズはとてもハマります。シリーズの順番どおりにプレイすることをおすすめします!
This is the best series I have ever played. From the story, to the character interactions, the high speed modes, adorable wholesome characters, to the things Estelle says that I am thinking but no one ever really puts in a game, she actually says what we're all thinking!! I love this game so much my hubby tried it out too and loved it so much that we legit grabbed all of the games in the entire series (12 or 13 of them and more coming out!) to play them in order. Each game has been even better than the last. Just when i think, man this one is sooooo good there's no way the next one can top it, it does. No regrets. Very high recommendations!

The best jrpg I've ever played
100/10
The greatest payoff ever coming from all the world building and character development of FC
The fact they had to write dialogue for all 500+ empty chests in the game is truly commendable
I honestly expected to not like these first few games in this series, however, I watched many reviews of the game which highly suggested that you play through all the earlier games in order to follow the story line. Being that they are so old, I was not very enthusiastic but I have been very pleasantly surprised. I would say I've even enjoyed it.
Wow just wow - on the penultimate battle I think - what a story
What a satisfying ending as well - Very much enjoyed it
Olivier and Kevin my beloveds
This is my first JRPG game so there's not much to compare it to, but I finally finished the whole Trails in the Sky trilogy to the end and im very grateful for the time spent on this masterpiece...
The story, the music in this game... it's criminally good.
Even after a while, I can't stop listening to the soundtrack and thinking of this series over and over again...
Hopefully Falcom will hear the pleas of the Russian-speaking community to add Russian localization to the upcoming remake of the first chapter of Trails
SC stands for Super Cool sequel.
This is where the big buildups of FC really shine. Hard recommend.
This entry fixes my complaints of FC, mainly the lack of exploration rewards, the lack of equipment customization, and the slow pacing of story.
The orbment system gets a 7th slot, and grants much more powerful bonuses and spells versus the orbments in FC. Additionally, the inclusion of items like Crimson Eye, which allows prioritizing Arts strength at the cost of speed, means the equipment system allows for actual tradeoffs unlike the FC situation of "pick which status you want to block".
The story pacing is so much faster than in FC, with the first few chapters playing a villain of the week story to tie it all together in the last half with the overarching story between FC and SC. The guild quests, while of a similar quantity to FC, doesn't nearly suffocate the main story like how FC's side quests feel at occasion.
All in all, this is the massive payoff to FC's build off, and is well worth while for a masterful JRPG.
So, you want me to review Trails in the Sky SC huh? hehe, I'm about to yap (but not as much as the cast) and I ain't proofreading nothin. any spelling and grammar mistakes you find are your fault due to you reading this review with hate in your heart.
Coming from Cold Steel, I realised that half way through cs3 that I was not infact playing the first game in the trails series and also spoiling some characters and references for myself. so my bad
playing this right after FC, you could definitely feel the effort they put into the rest of the game after realising rpgs aren't just visual novels with a some kind of battle system hastily tacked on. im not sure if it was due to budgets or times or it being their first go or whatever that made FC's battle system so disappointing compared to cs but falcom cooked this time around. the chain mechanic and the unique quartz HHNNNHHGGGG
story was a yapfest, loved it. the conversations going from heartwrenching confidings to comrades in times of hopelessness and anguish to oscar (olivier is a stupid name) saying something unserious because he wasn't the centre of attention as usual in the next frame of animation... *chef's kiss* BEAUTIFUL.
i haven't finished it yet. but im sure when i do im gonna boot up the third game instantly then buy the second part of the trails series.
amazing game, amazing characters, amazing story. stupid acheivements though
10/10
Fantastic 2nd entry in the Trails series
It is we who are unequal to such a gift.
silver will
What a journey, my friends. I took my time with this one (over 100h) and it paid off. Game is pure gold. Can`t wait to advance in the series!
Peak. Just peak.
peak
Love the Trails series and being able to play this one on my pc has been great.
Ngl these mfs were cookin in 2006. Banger game
PEAK. PEAK. PEAK. PEAK. PEAK. PEAK. PEAK.
So...after that ending...this game happens. This game picks up the following day after the end of the first title, and it gets *good*.
The story is just excellent. I can't say much without spoiling, but it was an experience I will not forget anytime soon. Full of scenes that made me cry, scenes that made me hyped as hell, intrigued, etc. The characters get real fleshed out, the lore gets so much deeper, everything is just way bigger and it builds off of the first game quite excellently.
The gameplay is mostly the same, it has an easy mode now for people who just care for the story. There's new orbment customizability, some new things in combat, like chain attacks, and etc. But ultimately, it's the same gameplay, but a bit more polished and expanded.
The music in these games has been incredible as well. There is not a single bad, or forgettable, track in the entire ost. Falcom is known for great OSTs from other series like Ys, and they did not miss in the Trails series either.
Overall, while I don't want to spoil in my reviews, I will just say that Trails in the Sky SC is an unforgettable masterpiece of a video game, and a game I will never forget. It is my favorite video game of all time, and it moved me in ways no game ever had done before. I am in love with the characters, the world, the music, everything. It will be extremely hard for any other game I play to move me the same way this game has, and this makes me happy because I was sure I had already experienced the best I'll ever experience in gaming. I am glad Falcom proved me wrong.
