i wish my trauma was a bunch of little creatures inside of me >:(
this game feels like speedrunning therapy
This game doesn't really have a reason to be a game, since there's just no gameplay. It would work better as an illustrated book or something, although the visuals aren't that good. I assume it's supposed to look like a child's drawing, but it doesn't really work either. You can make something minimalist and yet more evocative or appealing. The texts are the only interesting part, but there's not much to find there either. As a free experiment on Itch I would understand. Actually, if it's really about fighting depression just post the text on a forum. You'll help more people that way. But making an empty game out of it seems like a bit of a weird approach.
The games about what the inside of someones head looks like when they've fallen into despair. Its all well and good, up until the end where it says you need to forgive yourself and those who hurt you to truly live. I have been in despair. I've had all those creatures living in my head and I still do. While forgiving yourself is important, its not the only thing and its not so simple. The game needs a second phase where Jonas seeks help, learns how to cope, and actually does better. Otherwise its just depression porn.
a game that tries very hard
This game could have benefited from being a lot longer. I think that criticism gets levelled at too many games, so I'll elaborate on why I mean it here: there were so many facets of this character which the game wanted to foreground that it was impossible to cover them all in a memorable way in the 15 minute playtime. There are 16 other characters you have to seek out and all of them have interesting sprites and text, but I could tell I was meant to remember them a lot better than I actually could given my extremely brief interaction with each one. I understand the desire for a short, impactful piece, and I thought this one was well made, but it tried to cover too much ground for its length.
I'm in this game and i don't like it
6/10 it is okay
nice 10 minutes point and click adventure. The only downside is that you need to leave it open for a few hours for you know what xD
The Game is simple, Spoilers ahead: you play as a man named jonas, the game opens up with your wife in bed being unable to understand why you are pulling yourself away from her, jonas struggles with alcoholism among other traumas the main plot the game follows is jonas... and his 16 demons, the objective of the game is to first talk to the spirit of manipulation and then 15 more negative spirits around the map. once you have spoken to all 16 demons you will hear a knock and when manipulation tells you it's time to come home, you step back into your house to face all 16 of your demons before standing your ground one last time before jonas finally snaps out of it once and for all. I personally didn't like the 17th spirit, they could've maybe changed the way they drew it if it was going to be portrayed as something positive but no... ah well. 90% of the game for me is very edgy dark concepts but 16 spirits people struggle with that i knew very well on a personal level. addiction for example among others makes you really want to look at yourself in a spiritual mirror much like the one at the end of the game. the lesson being that jonas no longer wants to be a footstool for 16 demons anymore. forgiveness is a great starting point. love is a great followup, i personally like the very short concept as far as storytelling goes and the game was pretty cool. in a dark edging sort of way. but yay happy ending. amiright?
"Keep in Mind: Remastered" is a short, very badly made 2D retro pixel top down "walking simulator", but really more of an e-book, where you move between lengthy discussions with your 2D retro pixel "demons" who are concerned with your alcohol and depression problems. Apparently this is a remaster, which makes me wonder, given how absolutely godawful this is, just how much worse the original was. Or maybe we don't want to know. I sure don't. Anyway this is just garbage where someone pretending to be a "developer" also pretends to be a "psychologist".
Trying to address social issues such as alcoholism and depression through the medium of video games is misguided and can be harmful. While it's plausible to suggest the intention was noble, this can do more harm than good. Game developers are not professionals in areas of mental health and social problems, and when they use video games to pretend they are, this can cause far more harm than good. It's my opinion that it's improper to use video games to push political or social agendas. Apart from the harm such hamfisted attempts at addressing social problems can cause, this offers zero benefit to PC gamers. People suffering from health issues or other social problems should seek out professional help rather than going to crap shovelware video games attempting to get sales by exploiting such problems for their own benefit, as is the case here.
There's an overwhelming amount of mediocre Visual Novel/E-book style cutscenes in this game. The developers failed one of the most basic, fundamental requirements of game design... "Show, don't tell." So you'll spend a huge amount of time not playing the game, but clicking through endless lines of poorly written VN text cutscenes because the developers couldn't work out how to relate their narrative through the game mechanics, and decided instead it would be better to compete with reading a book for your time.
We're here to play games, not read through hours of garbage intersituals. My gaming rig is not a Kindle.
The game is very very short and can be finished in about 10-15 minutes. Developers have at least some responsibility to provide enough content to make a game last more than 2 hours if they're serious about providing something of value to gamers. There's less content here than some free game demos.
From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result.
There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision.
The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected.
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a modest spike in player counts for the game. But this only happened once, around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam?
"Keep in Mind: Remastered" is relatively cheap at $2 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 11,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.
really enjoyed it
A total waste of my time, and it took me only thirteen minutes.

Absolutely amazing remaster well worth the money
Keep in Mind is a game about your inner demons, you talk to each monster one by one and can piece somewhat of a story told through dialogue about how our protagonist, Jonas, got to where he is now.
Short, simple but nontheless, beautiful
