Описание

Experience epic space battles while piloting a small, fast fighter ship as part of a fleet that lashes out against enemy factions across stunning procedurally generated star systems in Disputed Space.

Features:

  • First Person Space Shooter with Six degrees of freedom (6DoF)
  • Single player campaign with 30 levels
  • Pilot your ship by rapidly strafing, aiming, dodging, and shooting
  • Local Split Screen Co-Op Multiplayer
  • Play as part of a large fleet
  • Fly in between large capital ships while dogfighting with fighters and bombers
  • Procedurally generated space scenes
  • Large battles with dozens of ships and thousands of projectiles
  • Arcade, Action, 3D SHMUP
  • Highly Optimized (100+ FPS on a modern PC)

Single Player with Optional Local Co-Op Split Screen Multiplayer Mode

Disputed Space supports 2-4 player local co-op split screen multiplayer in addition to the single player mode. Friends can jump an existing space battle by simply pressing the fire button on their game controller or joystick. Disputed Space will automatically add the additional local co-op player to the game and split the screen for the players. This mode is a blast to play with friends and family.

Gameplay

Disputed Space is a fast-paced arcade action game, not a realistic simulator. It is a 6DOF game that plays like Descent or Overload, but in outer space instead of inside a mine. Players pilot a small fighter ship that can fly in any direction (including backwards) while blasting enemy ships with lasers and missiles.

Multiple Control Schemes

Disputed Space is designed to play like Descent or Overload, but in outer space instead of inside a mine. As such, the default control scheme is set up as an arcade action style which makes it easy to aim and strafe. If players prefer to have Disputed Space play more like a flight simulator, they can customize their control scheme. All keyboard, mouse, game controller, and joystick controls can be re-mapped to suit each player's unique play style.

The game could be good, but its a no for me. The lack of polish makes it feel very amateurish (although the graphics are pretty great). It feels like it was released in EA before finishing it properly.

Others have pointed out that there's not a lot of depth to this game, and while I've only played it a couple of times the $2.29 current price tag is too cheap for this game (and I got it on sale on top of that). Yes, would love to see upgrades something like the old Raptop Call of Shadows 2D game. Worked fine on Xubuntu 20.04 Linux, though devs should update the Linux/SteamOS requirements on the Steam page to indicate the video card needed (it shows on the Windows section, but not the SteamOS section. My GTX 650Ti boost was okay despite the min GTX660).

There are games that I enjoy more, but if the developer keeps working on this game it's going to be even better. Love the graphics and effects. Got my butt handed to me. Controls seemed okay to me, though I looked briefly at the Controls page first since it was mentioned. I didn't try my Gamepad, but that would be a bonus if it worked well too.

One last thing, the game launched on my second screen, despite the Steam play button being on the first screen (dual monitor).

Really doesn't feel like a 'game' and there are a lot of quality of live issues that need to be addressed. Like there are some really rookie mistakes here. Why is the text all fuzzy? Cuz they forgot to use TextMeshPro, the free asset that even ships with unity now. How do I know this runs Unity? Well the easiest way to tell is the icon for the game... still the unity icon...

Instant Action.

The only info you need: Earth is under attack.

The controls are where they should be: WASD for movement, Shift for Thruster, T for target, etc.

Your mission: destroy the enemy fleet.

No market, no upgrades in stations, no dialogues. Just plain shooting. (you can collect orbs from destroyed ships that give you perks)

And the lights.

You can really feel you are in the middle of an epic space battle, with thousands of lasers blasting in very direction. It´s like New Year´s Eve fireworks. Awesome.

If you´re looking for an Arcade Spaceship Shooter, this is a great choice.

The formula for this game is pretty simple: pilot a starfighter to destroy the enemy fleet while defending yours, collect power-ups to improve your stats, warp to the next level, rinse, repeat for 30 stages. Currently there is no multiplayer or other modes available save for the arcade missions.

It doesn't seem as if there's a difference between the primary beam weapons either, except for the rate of fire and projectile velocity. Even with the damage upgrades, they all seem to do the same amount of damage once maxed out. The predictive aiming reticle is suspect; it's clear that it wasn't designed to account for the different speeds the weapons fire at, which makes long-distance targeting impractical. Because of this, I ultimately kept using the quad-lasers since they seem to have the fastest rate of fire and velocity, making aiming easier. The physics are very basic too; the creator improved the sense of inertia in space slightly, but it's still clearly a very-arcade-like space shooter since you can easily come to a complete halt, strafe and accelerate yet cannot drift.

It gets tedious trying to destroy the capital ships too; they suck at targeting your small starfighter, so evading their hail of fire isn't difficult. However, they have a TON of hit points and barely take damage from the player, so get ready to spend several minutes just firing upon the same ship with beams and missiles over and over until it dies. Not fun.

In conclusion, grab this only if its on sale for cheap. And even then, I'd advise grabbing House of the Dying Sun or Everspace, both are far superior experiences with greater replayability.

If you asked me 20 years ago what the future of space combat games could look like, Id describe this game. It is beyond me why anyone wants to chase and dogfight little distant dots surrounded by massive HUD icons in the black void of space like most space games. Just pay a guy 30 bucks and text him "did I win?" and wait for him to say "ummm yeah?", way faster and entertaining than most dot chasing Flight Combat games.

Straight-up eye candy here and its ready to hit something like 300fps if you have the hardware to pull it off. Exactly the game I didnt know I needed, but just a few minutes in and im sold. Cant wait to play it some more.

Doesn't support it out of the box but with the right software this game works great with VR. If it ever gets mouselook for interior cockpit view BAM! VR support out of the box(again provided you have the correct software).

To think I was about to throw down 30 dollars for an official VR game like Overload/Descent or Eve Valkyrie....close call. I played the demos....not even close to the fun from this game at 2 bucks.

My only wish is for more particles, more lens flares, more bloom, even more eye candy....and maybe a volume slider for BGM and SFX. UPDATE: I mixed up UI's, this one DOES have volume sliders for everything. Now its time for 90's computer hacking music and some action packed laser combat. I still cant get over the value to dollar to visuals to functionality of this game.

A nice little space shooter, similar in controls to something like Descent, with the 6DOF thing. The game is paper thin, each area exactly the same as the previous. But you level up your weapons and your ship by collecting little floating remnants of ships you've destroyed, and you get more and more powerful. It's a fun little game. Worth the price. If it were 10 bucks I wouldn't recommend it, but for the asking price I definately got my money's worth out of it, and do intend to play more when I need a frenetic space battle.

Some positives:

  • The fights feel grand in scale. Laser fire fills the space around you and large capital ships duke it out while you pick off the small fighters.
  • The ship controls responsively. It's not hard to be a competent pilot.
  • A decent variety of enemy ships to shoot at, from the small and agile to the slow and tanky.

Some recommendations to the developer (little complaints to maybe avoid in their next game, which I do hope they make):

  • It's possible to exit the menu while you're in the options screens, so the game resumes play, but you're still in a menu.
  • It would be nice to have a break point at the end of each level. This gives the player a chance to sit back for a second and catch their breath. Have a prompt float on the screen "Push 'O' to warp to the next zone" or something.
  • [*]Some sort of a tutorial mode wouldn't be a bad idea. The game is fairly self evident, but I found the switch weapons button by accident, and I had to go look at the controls list to find out how to switch the secondary weapon (resulting in the above moment when I exited the menu with the controls panel still up).

All in all, a game I am happy is in my library.

Its an average SciFi Arcade Shooter. Its worth the low price of a burger. Couple of hours fun guaranteed especial on split screen mode.
Pro
-Fly with Joystick or Xbox Controller
-up to 4 players split screen coop.
-nice graphics
-epic battles

Con
-almost no options to configure graphics so it lag 4 FPS in Splitscreen at start of the battles.
-bug as target lock disappears if 2nd player enter game and no one could lock on target anymore, making it impossible to dogfight.
-No Mission design let you get bored after a couple of levels.
-Game design is like the Flight simulator on Wing Commander or X-Wing vs Tie Fighter. It plays more like a Demo than a full game. (Single player as Coop)

I give a Thumbs up cause of the low price. If you have controlers and flight stick you get a competition with a friend who scores most, if you have also a strong PC.

It's exactly what it says it is, and worth its current price. It seems like most negative reviews are from people that expect a video game to fill the void of purpose within themselves and give their lives meaning. Nothing will ever fill that void, but if you want to blast some NPC bad guys that are messing up your air, then this is a game for exactly that. "Pew-pew-pew" your way to self-actualization as you acquire a of sense of agency in this tiny universe. Fend off simulated waves of opponents in a way that you never will in your own life.

Gameplay is very shallow and the controls are bad. I was constantly drifting to the left the entire time even after checking my controls and calibrating everything. I do like that it supports multiple joysticks, but setting those up is a little cumbersome.

UPDATE:

Got the control situation figured out. When I tried to set the horizontal movement to a certain axis on one of my sticks, it somehow picked up a different axis to map it to. Once I got that sorted out, everything was great.

The gameplay is somewhat shallow, but it's arcadey in a good way. So far I'm enjoying it now that the controls work correctly. Mapping the controls is done the same way as in House of the Dying Sun. The visuals are very nice.

Not at it's current state anyways.

Only 30 minutes or so in and I can already say "meh."

Good things, it has loads of potential. I loved the classic star wars space battles, and I feel like this could be the new battle. Oh, and the gun controls seem fairly real. Like, having to angle your shots.

That it? Yes. At it's current state, the only thing it can show for itself is potential. Would a bank loan you money on that promise? No.

Things that could be tweaked:
- The game lacks immersion. I don't feel like I am a part of the action.
- Design of the interior of ship: Meh. Not really all that cool.
- No real soundtrack. It may not need one though.
- Enemy ships are in this divide between ships that blow up easy and ships that take forever. It doesn't feel like my weapons do anything to the ships my size. Only 10% of the ships I fight I can kill in a snap of a finger.
- Upgrades are way to common, and I feel like they don't really help.
- I kept getting the same upgrades for two weapons all the time. What makes it worse is that they were max upgraded. The two weapons that were max upgraded only make up 1/3 of the weapons I have, why do they make up 99% of the upgrades I receive?
- Weapons aren't clear as to "Which is better." If the two I kept getting upgrades for were the ones that dealt the least damage, then I understand why the game wants to give me more of those.
- I can literally sit there and shoot. I am not forced to move until I get one hit or two. Shouldn't I always be in motion?
- I don't feel like what I am controlling is anything. It doesn't really exist.
- Repetitive combat. No real story or campaign.
- Took me to level 3 to finally know that "T" was target.
- ^^ No tutorial
- I got torpedoes, but I have no honest idea how to get to it.
- Missile are endless. Is that a good thing or bad? I don't really know. Depends on where they want to go.
- Engine max upgrade makes it really hard to control your ship. If they put in a throttle or something, it'd make it easier.

Things that are utterly bad:

- Price. At it's current state, it is not worth $5. I am lucky I got the 80% off deal and got it for $1.
- Wait, seriously? $5 for this? It feels early dev not released.
- I feel like this is more of an arcade game.

I hope that the creators are working on this game, because I have faith in it. I also hope that they already had plans to fix these things.

This is just the same fight over and over. Little variety in weapons, minor upgrades to weapons and engine speed. No real customization that I could find. I played about half an hour and I wasn't feeling like anything was actually happening. I just shot some things, flew to another mission ("enemy ships detected in area!", "Defend the friendly ship!", etc...) and that was it.

The thing is, the game engine is actually pretty good. Movement feels fine, weapons behave real enough that you have to lead your shots, but not so much that you can't still hit anything. It looks pretty good, and with some shading and lighting tweaks, could look fantastic. Some minor sound effect stuff too (the generic weapons fire sounds are very repetitive and could use something to make them less so).

But in the end, it doesn't really do much of anything. Shoot, fly, next mission. Shoot, fly, next mission. Shoot, fly, next mission.

Add a basic campaign mode or something. Then it would be worth keeping. I'll check back in a year or so, see how things have improved.

Overall, I'm cautiously optomistic about the game, but it needs to add more content.

It's absolute garbage. When I played it in early access it was clearly unfinished, but I gave the developer a benefit of the doubt as he seemed pretty active updating it. As it's finally "released" its a complete shitshow. There's one kind of playable fighter, all the weapons are the same, it's impossible to tell if your homing missiles actually work. Battles consist of shooting at a capital ship for 5 minutes. Freespace this is not. If your space fighter itch is driving you crazy for an arcadey title, grab House of the dying sun, not this garbage.

Fun, gorgeous arcade shooter. This is a fairly casual action game that my 8 year old enjoys as much as I do. It is NOT a sim, 4x, or anything else, and is not intented to be. Simple controls can all be mapped to a single 8-button joystick with a hat switch - i don't need the keyboard at all during gameplay.

The developer is very responsive, and even added a feature to resolve an issue I was having with an old unsupported joystick.

while i dont have allot of time into the game, i can say that it is very fun, its exacly what it says it is, your a small ship in a huge fleet battle, very fun, fast paced, its an arcade shooter that gives you a bit of a space ship feel, its in no way a sim game, i think some people forgot that when reviewing and complaining about controls and what not... if you just want a game where you can kill time blowing stuff up and have fun, this is it and for 5 bux you cant lose, i got it on sale for 2 bux, even if i only put an hour or 2 in to the game, then its money well spent, seeing that it is early access, i look forward to seeing where it goes, i have a fairly decent pc and its one hell of a light show in the game

Win 10 All AOK...Plenty of framerate / Graphics...i7 GT 970
Playing with an "Old" Sidewinder...Works just fine
I'll have a little fun with it "AS IS" and hope for up-dates
HUGE Plus is easily being able to spot the "Bad Guys"

It's surely worth $5 to help out on the developement

Hope they're successful and get it all polished up !!!

tl;dr, if you wished the space mode in the old battlefront 2 had more, a lot more, going on, you'll enjoy this.

As for where it stands in development:
I would say this man has built a race car, he just needs to build the track for it to run on now. The game engine and core elements are all very well done. A lot of love and polish has gone into this.
EDIT: He's added scoring now, which is fun. He plans to keep increasing such features. He updates nearly every week, which is nice. Arcade hard mode is a great addition.

How it looks and runs:
The ships all look really nice, as do the projectiles.
Sountrack is good. No problems with the way it looks.
Runs amazingly well on my GTX 1070, i7 6700.
EDIT 2: You no longer feel like a camera, but a ship. Big improvements here!

How it plays:
It's a very very good base. It stands to have more "game" parts to it. Currently, you warp in, blow everything up, and warp on to the next place. This is quite fun, especially with a friend.
No objectives or score as of yet. I feel like this is what it's missing, but at the rate he's going...
EDIT: The afterburner is a good game element.
EDIT: Enemies target you more hurray he fixed it!
EDIT: There's a score system now, enemy targeting and other such things continue to be added. The game elements to this keep getting better.

For the price of $5, you get an enormous amount of potential and a good bit of fun. I personally consider games worth it at an exchange of $1 for 1 hour unless the experience is really nice. So far, I'm having a nice experience and I can see getting my $1 to 1 hour ratio. Happy customer.

Bonus:
As you can see from my edits, he's actively improving the game. I have to change this review every week, and always for the better!

I've had a surprising amount of fun playing this game. The action is there. The music is great. It's flashy. It's arcady. It's nothing more or less than what it claims to be. It's definitely early access at the moment and there just isn't a whole ton on content in it but for $5 how can anyone be too upset. I'll give a quick pro and con list here just for anyone curious of the current state.

Pros:
-Graphics are pretty good. The lasers are bright and flashy. The paint on the ships is cool.
-Get that sense of mayhem. There are big ships shooting big lasers everywhere and then all around are little ships so it's really kind of crazy.
-The controls are tight and simple. I have used both keyboard and mouse as well as an Xbox controller. Worked great.
-Music is wonderful.
-Split screen coop. A rare addition to modern games especially on PC.
-Active developer. He answers questions on the forums and has already implemented some requested things.

Cons:
-Explosions are a little weak. The sound. The look. The feel. Just not much there at the moment.
-Can be a little hard to tell what ships are good guys and bad guys. Maybe that's just me.
-Although the controls are good and tight it can feel like you are flying a camera around a level editor sometimes. It doesn't hurt the game but some may find it a little strange.
-Repetetive. It's a $5 arcade game so I can't say I expect a big story or a bunch of unlocks and things but just be aware that you are just going to fly in and kill all the ships and then do it again and again until you win or lose. Again that's not really a con if you know what you're getting into.

I whole heartedly recommend the game to anyone looking for a flashy arcade shoot em up to play with friends on a couch.

This game is a blast! It's like a 3D shmup without a pattern and is something I would have pumped tons of quarters into if it existed before now.

It's pure mayhem and there's zero fluff. You drop in and start shooting until everything is destroyed, or until they destroy you, then it's on to the next level. They get more difficult as they go - there are more ships and a greater variety of them further on, and the bigger ones pack more of a punch and are harder to kill. If there's not many enemy ships left in the wave, just follow the tracers from the capital ships and you'll be right back into it!

The HUD is minimal, just a reticle and weapon selection, and the controls are simple and easy to use. You can strafe and roll in any direction while shooting constantly. The AI is decent and will track your movements with their weapons, no matter how slick you think you're being. The backgrounds are pretty and the ships designs are cool too.

The sound effects are a bit tinny to my ears but they are well done and you can tell the direction of incoming fire by sound location as well as the shiny lasers. So many shiny lasers! They are everywhere and remind me of bullet hell games. The capital ships don't seem to damage you though, just the other fighters.

If this were in an arcade, I would have already spent more than $5 bucks on it so it's a good buy in my book, plus it's pure no-frills fun, no BS, and I'm enjoying the hell out of it!
