A great Sega game from de DC era.

OMG! I was about to uninstall the game after finishing it, ready to never play it again, then I saw the steam community posts about Area X, and thank god I did. Base game was a cool experience 7 out of 10. But Area X is something else, 11 out of 10. The idea that I might have missed that experience gives me chills. I played in a OLED 4k 144hz screen and it was the most beautiful thing I have ever seem in a game.
Think Star Fox meets Space Channel 5. That's this game, and god is it good.
I've owned multiple copies of Rez/Rez Infinite over the years. Dreamcast, Xbox 360, Playstation 4, Quest, and PC. Tonight was the first time I've ran through it in VR on PC and it's exactly what I needed after a terrible work week. I cannot recommend this game enough VR or no VR. It is and has been in my top 10 games of forever since I played it back in 2001 on the Dreamcast.

And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

very underrated
I never played the original Rez but this is still a great experience in 2024. I'm not sure about 'synaesthetic' exactly, but it's been a while since I've enjoyed a game with such a well-designed and musically integrated flow. It's short, but only if you're _very_ good - and offers heaps of replayability. It's also the first game I've bought _for_ the deck rather than just happened to play on it and can happily report that it's a fantastic experience especially with (wired!) headphones.
If anyone reads this, can they tell me if the DLC soundtrack is a better mix than the one on spotify? It just doesn't hit the same as playing.

Very bad
It's like Panzer Dragoon/Star Fox meets LSD Dream Emulator. This game is pretty much an on rails shooter combined with a rave, featuring a catchy soundtrack & extremely trippy visuals. It's also very challenging, I still haven't beaten it myself. But, what I've played so far has been pretty magical, keeps me coming back for more & also keeps me hoping I can finally get past the third dang level.
