In days gone by, people could only imagine their perfect worlds. Today, all of humanity can live within its dreams. But dreams sometimes turn into nightmares.
THE STORY
The year is 2046. Virtual reality is omnipresent. It’s a perfect shelter from life’s hardships - a fully immersive experience. It’s not hard to wonder why some people spend almost all of their life logged into VR.However, not everyone stays connected voluntarily. Occasionally, a software bug or even a virus can prevent a VR user from disconnecting. To save face while extracting the Stuck, corporations often hire freelance hackers that can enter the client’s neural session and reboot it.
Those hackers call themselves Divers. Thomas Hall is one of them, and he’s up for an odd job.
KEY FEATURES
- We must go deeper – Engaging story with interesting characters, which unfolds as you “Dive” into a virtual reality program of a future world to save a user that is stuck, and to battle the unforeseen causes of that glitch.
- Fast-paced action – Become a living bullet hell for your enemies. Blow them to pieces, crush them against the walls, evade or block their shots. The core mechanics are easy to grasp, but using them to the fullest against all the threats will be a challenge.
- Arcade play mode – Become the best cyberspace diver out there by achieving a high score in the separate arcade mode. Choose from three different difficulty levels, kill drones in a quick succession and shoot incoming bullets to gain combo points.
- Slow motion power – Freeze time to a halt when you need breathing space. You can take down lots of drones at once, dodge bullets or check that no one’s attacking you from the side.
- Multifunctional pistol – Gather power-ups from killed enemies to temporary arm yourself with dual blasters and transform your cyber weapons into various more powerful modes, such as a laser or a plasma gun.
- Various levels – Virtual reality is vast. You will see radically different and gorgeous environments, from claustrophobic and dark to enormously big and bright. Level structure shapes the gameplay.
- Hordes of droids – Enemies are numerous in quantity and type. Each one behaves differently and demands a change in combat tactics. Uniquely challenging bosses await at the end of each level.
UPDATE 2.0 CONTENTS
- Removed StarForce DRM – The game can now be installed on as many machines as you would like.
- Introduced destructible level elements – Blast through enemy cover and leave a trail of destruction as you progress through the game.
- Added the “Survival” game mode – Fight against hordes of enemies and try to survive for as long as you can.
- Miscellanous – Made various small improvements to performance.
The world you’re in may be virtual, but the consequences of its infection can alter all of humanity.

Truly addicting. Yes it's a pure wave shooter, but a very very good one.
It good, very polished and runs perfectly on my Quest 2. I don't get the negative reviews tbh.
It is very similar to Space Pirat Trainer so when you get it on a sale like me for two bucks, there is nothing you can do wrong.
Game seems like it would be fun but I have zero sound no matter what I do, just glad I got it in a bundle super cheap, maybe it will start working eventually, could be compatibility issues but only game not running right

Similar to Space Pirate Trainer but a little brighter environment, nice variety.
Nice wave shooter with good mechanics and all .
From the graphics to the voice acting audio and perfomance, the game feels excellent.
Essentially its a wave shooter with you standing on a platform that covers your back, so you focus on things coming towards you, so no motion sickness, enemies are robots so, no blood, the gameplay instructions are "kill everything" so easy to get into and start playing.
The main weapon is a pistol with a shield, the shield has a very cool slowdown power that helps a lot and can be used on levels tactically to squeeze the most out of it. Others are plasma, shotgun, laser, rapidfire, dual weilding, so there is a good variety of weapons, as with other waveshooters i wish i could grab powerups and save them for usage when i need them instead of instantly using them when grabbed, even replacing your previous unfinished powerup... But most if not all wave shooters use the same mechanic.
There are a few different enemy types, and a different boss each level.
I did not expect to see destructible environments, but there are and they are a little detail that really pops up.
Audio and voice acting for the storyline is pretty decent, i wish some sfx where louder but overall they are acceptable.
At the end VR INVADERS is a "simple" waveshooter that is very easy to get into, it has nice graphics and a decent lenght campaign.
I got it at a deep discount and it was easily worth the price.
Recommended for anyone that wants a simple, cheap (if discounted), fun, good looking wave shooter game.

Works well on Reverb G2. Fun, stable and looks good. SPT with a narrative and mini bosses, what's not to like ?
This is a fun little shooter.
However, I don't think it is worth the price because its length is less than 2 hours.
v2.0 review on Rift w/ Touch
Summary: An OK wave shooter but only on a major sale (< $5)
A very quick (< 2 hrs) wave shooter. Decent enemy variety and (from the power-ups) weapon effect variety. Liked the health bar on the back of the gun. In 2.0, levels are semi-destructible which is a nice twist. Didn't seem to change the tactics much to me though.
Honestly, my preference would probably be something half-way between this and Space Pirate Trainer (SPT). SPT really requires accuracy (which I don't have), but this was mostly just holding the trigger down and picking between power-ups based on the enemy. The turret shooter Eve Gunjack or "tactical" Raygun Commando or Covert Syndrome are more to my liking (and inexpensive or even free).
Story is super basic and doesn't really make much sense. Voice-acting is also basic but not as cringe-worthy as many small dev games.
So there will be lots of comparisons to Space Pirate Trainer and this game. However, truthfully, although both games have several things in common, they play completely different. They are both wave shooters. They both have flying droids. Both have a gun and a shield. Both play 180 degrees in front of you. That's pretty much where all similarities end.
VR Invaders is a story driven game. Now, I get it. It's hard to shoehorn a decent story into a flying drone wave shooter. But I like what they did in this game. The flat 2D cut scenes are a nice break from all the action in between. They are not too long and although they are not the best cutscenes ever, they do a nice job of giving the player a rest and it's an okay story.
The main difference is the way to approach VR invaders. There are very spottable, enemy flying patterns. So you can face the right direction and shoot them down, reminiscent of Galaga. And use the shield to cover your six. The other big difference is the boss fights. I know, SPT now has boss fights too apparently. But this game had 'em before, so who is copying who?
Either way, SPT is more about leaderboards and surviving as long as you can as the waves get bigger. Here, you are going into more challenging levels, reaching a definite end. It's more about recognizing patterns and reaching the conclusion.
Sale Price Rating 7/10. You get good amount of content for $4.49 sale price for Black Friday deals... not sure if I would recommend at $17.99 or not, but I'm glad I got it as the sale price

Disclaimer : I bought VR Invaders for the price of $4.85 during the Steam Halloween Sale. In my Let’s Play I incorrectly assessed the price as being <$5 normally but it is not. I will review VR Invaders based upon the retail price.
VR Invaders is in a very similar vein as Space Pirate Trainer. Both feature you on a platform fighting various robotics that shoot beams. Both feature a slow down although VR Invaders is far more forgiving allowing you to be hit and recover health more generously from what I could tell. Visually, both games are fantastic although I prefer SPT’s music slightly more while I prefer VR Invaders environment varieties and slowdown more. Both games have a variety of power ups that are sort of similar although Space Pirate Trainer has way more customization on your vanilla setup due to the rate of fire options/defensive item options.
For me, these wave shooters are entertaining for a bit and because VR Invaders actually had a “story”, I was tempted to stick through it over just “wave #’s” like most traditional wave shooters. The bosses were actually slightly varying with different styles of attacks or strategy to defeat. The variety in color and the “neon” styles reminded me a lot of Space Pirate Trainer and I enjoyed it about both games. The last level I played before this review(the 4th) actually had these interesting mine style robots that would try to fly up to you and explode. It was satisfying to blow them up and see the visual.
For the retail value, it really comes down to how much length you’d get out of the game. Being a wave shooter, it works great for parties or groups of people but playing it by yourself – its hard to say. If VR Invaders is on sale, like when I purchased it, its definitely worthy of a library addition. I’d say the game is on-par with Space Pirate Trainer – both have similar qualities and pros and cons. I may have enjoyed this one SLIGHTLY more although SPT takes better advantage of matrix-esque bullet dodges if you have the room for it.
I played this game start to finish, it's about a 2 hour experience. I actually thought it was very good: paid $10 on the steam sale and it was definitely worth it.

In regards to other reviewers comments/ criticisms:
-the voice acting seemed fine (some said it was poor), it was even pretty good for most of the game.
-the story isn't mind blowing but there IS a story with a possible sequel as this appears to be thbe first chapter in a series.
-at least one reviewer complained that the smaller enemies are "simple" and have "galaga like patterns". Some do, while some move reactively. I felt overall it reminded me of Starfox with the use of enemy and boss patterns and scoring system. Very satisfying overall.
Think I played a different game to everyone else. Despite everything going on, I found this pretty boring. It lacked the skill of Space Pirate Trainer (deflecting bullets back into the targets for example) and was literally a case of hold the trigger down and spray everywhere. Played for 20 minutes and refunded before going back to SPT.
this is one of the best VR wave shooters around
Well worth your time and money
Just be sure to turn the story mode off at the start options as it's just a load of talking during the game that gets annoying.

Absolutely wonderful gameplay, a great polished wave shooter, totally worth the money!
I like the feeling of this game. Mostly this type of games is roughly unpolished but this one is really well-done. I like the akimbo double pistols and fantastic bullet-time. This game have a progression chapter line and it's really fun because of most of VR games unfortunately is only for one run and abandon.
I hope developers are reading my post and will make a multiplayer challenge mode, I think it would really rock!)))
Amazing game, graphic look like 'back in 80'th', i like it, but i not found any one dinosaurus))). Sound good. Shielde with slomo effect interesting fiature. Developers please add light siber for close combat and make menu in 80'th style. 8/10
It's my first owned VR-game - and, actually, after the first 4 levels I don't regret buying it in the slightest.
Really, it's a really fun, and quite fast-paced, experience.
The bots are flying around, gun (or guns) blazing, power-ups and all the needed stuff.
And the bosses - they are really fun.
So, I think it's worth it's cost, totally.
Nice little game, reminded me of oldschool shoot'em up wave-shooters.
I wish there was survival mode, though.
This game is so unfinished.
Cheap copy of "Space pirate trainer", with horrible animations, and awful sound fx.
Played for 2 levels, and already bored with it.
When i tried to "alt-f4" from "it" - i couldn't. So after i've opened task manager - i laughed hard, because the task was named "unreal engine". So..
Save your money, don't buy it.
