I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.
Thank you.
The Sun Never Sets is yet another construction kit template copy+paste from serial shovelware pushers, My Way Games/A Nostru (the guy uses a number of shell accounts to hide his identity and mislead gamers). These guys do nothing but copy premade game templates and game tutorials, fill out a few things/stamp out basic levels using the construction kit templates, slap on an asset flipped set of sprites/assets, and dump them on Steam and into cheap nasty shovelware game bundles as cash grabs. Trying to get paid for someone else's game templates, assets... at best, this is shovelware, at worst, it's a scam/cash grab.
This asset flip from My Way Games/A Nostru is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction.
This particular flip swaps the badly written anime fantasy fan-fiction for a badly written anime pirate fan-fiction, otherwise it's the same identical shovelware garbage we've all come to expect from RPG Maker... the only notable point here is that it's unusual for Unity asset flippers like My Way Games to change tack and try their hand at RPG Maker asset flips. That doesn't mean any of this has any value for gamers, it's garbage, a cash grab.
As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development.
Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips, the game features extremely low quality copy + pasted 2D retro pixel art, looks awful, and has even worse gameplay. RPG Maker is an absolutely terrible construction kit, and never results in games of any reasonable quality or value to gamers.
Cipher Hive/My Way Games/A Nostru have shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. Here's some examples so you can see for yourself:
- "Dinosaur Bone Digging" = Dinosaur Bone Digging Games developed by Ardian Kaltara (as A Nostru)
- "Extreme Racing On Highway" = Highway Racer developed by BoneCracker Games (as A Nostru)
- "Muscle Car Robot" = Muscle Car Robot developed by GameNing (as A Nostru)
- "The Hunt in the Forest" = Advanced Sniper Starter Kit developed by Hardworker Studio (as A Nostru)
- "Top Burger" = Top Burger Chef developed by KetchAp (as A Nostru)
- "Mine the Gold" = Gold Miner Century developed by SplayGame Official (as A Nostru)
- "CubeXL" = Switch The Gravity developed by App Advisory
- "Space Force" = X-Racer developed by Deer Cat
- "Trivia Night" = Trivia Quiz Game Template developed by Puppeteer
- "Miniballist" = Endless Turns developed by SGLib Games
[*] "Easy Racing" = Crashy Racing full game pack developed by SgLib games (as Adeeemmm)
Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only appears around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
It's also important to note the "developer" here has connections to a number of shady Russian and Brazilian asset flippers and review manipulators who show an organised pattern to scam and defraud gamers with fake reviews and asset flipping the work of others for profit. While reviews are about the games, gamers should be informed when developers act unethically. Whether these connections are the same developer using multiple accounts, or just working closely with other unethical developers, gamers should be warned about the harm to gamers by this developer and their associates. Buying games from unethical developers puts your money at risk.
The Sun Never Sets has the almost unethical price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the unethical nature of the developer. Remember that if you buy a game from an unethical developer, you're putting your money at risk. Gamers who want a good retro JRPG experience would be better off playing the originals, like Final Fantasy, Star Ocean or Chrono Trigger.
cant continue because of glitch

Just another RPG game that you should probably avoid.

Honestly, I enjoyed the game more than I thought I would. However, there is a glitch with one of the characters. The character named May has an attack called windstrike. Its a pretty good move but the only problem is she cant use it on the enemies. She can only attack herself and her teamates. Please fix this. And also, the main cult leader; I dont know his name. He and his followers are on one of the islands; I dont know what its called. There on the island that seems peacefull but when you explore more, its not. Anyways, when the battle begins, you cant see the leader in the back. He is still there and attacks and all that but he doesnt "look" there. He is invisible. There are also a few typos, please fix these bugs too, but other than those small things, the game is still playable and I really enjoy it a lot.
So far I have only played for an hour, so this is just a short review. I like the game, because it's not linear. I can go anywhere I want and when I want, with my ship.
What I don't like is that the enemies are quite hard to beat right from the beginning. I entered a nearby island and was killed pretty quickly. So I am just roaming around the waters and fight pirates until I have levelled up more.
I could also do with a little less drama in the battle scenes. The more basic the better for me. ;) Other than that, I like this game a lot.

Edited to add: There is a bug that prevents continuation of the game after defeating Graybeard, if you take on the ship by approaching it from the lower left-hand side. Go up and around the island to the right side of it, and there you will find the same ship. Fight the pirates here, and you will be able to continue.
Cute little game. Some typos, got lost for a bit because it was not very clear on which direction to go. Not bad for a weekend time killer.
