I think this is really a wonderful idea. I feel like the Tai Chi would be far better if I could figure out how to just do it for as long as I want. I never get to a deep meditative state because it keeps interrupting me to give me a "score". I don't do Tai Chi for a score, and this is a great way to enhance the focus of Tai Chi and help you get into it fast, but why not just let users "go" for 30-60 minutes if they want to? It's a distraction that ruins the entire experience. It seems like a massive lapse in a crazy simple option that just involves turning off features that harm the purpose. I also wish they would set this up to do actual Tai Chi forms (maybe even multiple families like Yang and Chen). This seems like a big missed opportunity. I wouldn't recommend it yet, but it's the only Tai Chi VR available on Steam. I hope they improve it... At the very least allow us to do it without time limits and remove the score. Like fruit ninja "Zen Mode".
I bought this for the taichi as no other vr product appears to do this.
Sofar I can say Its okay, but really simplistic, and does not give you enough guidance at times about how to move your hands, so that it makes it seem like it wants you to move your hands through your arms...
I also dont think the youtube feature works.
So if you want a basic tai chi app this does that but thats all i can see getting out of it.
Not worth the money.
This is abandonware. It has *some* functionality as-is, but in 6+ months there have been zero updates or bug fixes, no responses to feedback here or on their website, and I have no faith this game will ever been completed.
I tried WiseMind in AWE and fall in love with these guys. They are sincere developers who really trying to address a big issue and take a correct but difficult path. They are running clinical trials with these prototype activities and seeking clinical evidences. I am here to share my supports to their mission.
WiseMind offer an interesting way for VR gaming and fitness. Here are my observations:
Tai Chi: simple but fun. I wish there are more game elements or special effects. But I guess for a relaxation application this probably enough. The screenshots of the gameplay may be under stated. Touching balls and moving bodies are actually more fun that it looks.
Balancing: physics are weird, but I can get used to it with some practice. I think this is a common issue with VR's lacking real physical feedback. Not this software's fault. I found it easier to stack if you gentally drop the rock instead of trying to put it on top of another.
HINT: you can actually take 360 screenshots of your stones. I found this very interesting. I hope the developer can descirbe this feature in a more obvious way.
HINT2: you can press the keyboard to generate letter cubes. I don't know what it is to do with mindfulness practice. But it is fun to make some funny words and take a screenshot
Breaing: Not much here, just simply breathing. I think this should benefit some people with breathing difficulties or have trouble relaxing. Not for me though.
Overall: This software shows some promise in innovative VR gameplay. I will recommend this to people who want to try new ways for general wellness or fitness.
INNOVATIONAL!
This is the best implementation of VR technology for fitness I have seen. Their Tai Chi exercise requires full attentionof your own posture to perform and that's the core concept of Mindfulness. I am not a big fan of meditation or zen but I can see myself do this everyday. I think this is a better way to relax for a busy mind like myself. I also love the way we can use my own musics as background. My favorite is Katty Perry's Fireworks.
I like it! It shows great potentials as a mind and body exercise. I am an Yoga teacher and I found great similarity between Yoga and TaiChi. They are both valid way to improve your well being. The stone balancing is a little jumpy but I guess that's because physics in VR is just not that mature yet.
Still, good job WiseMind team.
I'm always interested in ways to relax my busy mind, so I tried this...
There are 3 exercices : the first one is Tai-Chi which is pretty difficult if you have never done this IRL like me. I'm pretty sure I wasn't doing this correctly, but there's nobody around to guide you or correct you. I think it's better to first practise (at least) the basics with a real teacher. During your exercise you can see your score, but I think Mindfullness and relaxtion isn't usually linked to a score.
The 2nd exercise is breathing : you can see your breath going in and out, like it's very cold while it's clearly summer around you (green trees) so it's rather like you're smoking. Breathing exercises are usually done in different patterns, some of them are quit challening (f.e. breathng in shortly, but breathing out for a long time) but in this VR app, you only have Equal Breathing which means breathing in and out takes the same amount of time. You don't have to wear VR glasses to do this simple breathing exercise.
The 3rd exercise is balancing rocks, but we all know how VR physics can behave, so it will likely make you more nervous than focused or calm.
It's all very underwhelming especially if you consider the price of 16 EUR. Can't recommend.
