HIVESWAP: ACT 1 is the first of a four-part series set in Andrew Hussie’s Homestuck universe, with a companion series, Hauntswitch, to follow. Continue your save from chapter to chapter, then from game to game, to carry your story, choices, friendships and frenemies across them all--then do it again! Once released, HIVESWAP and Hauntswitch will be playable in either order. Haven’t read Homestuck? That’s fine! This game is set in 1994! Homestuck hasn’t even been invented yet!

LOVE THIS SHIT. HAD A LOT OF FUN PLAYING UNTIL I GOT STUCK IN DAMMEK'S FUCKING LIVING ROOM.
Immediately loved this game for its sense of style and voice.
Immediately became ill in the first fight sequence due to the flashing lights without any clear posted warning that I could find. The sound effects during the battles are also unbearably loud compared to the rest of the game. Not sure if there is something wrong with my install or what, but I am very disappointed I will not be able to continue it because I have no way to solve these issues without muting my game and not looking at it.
One of my go-to comfort games in a while. I wish I can play it for the first time again.
Feels like this was the original intended format for Homestuck.
I think this is a well made, solid game. Some people argue that it's too short but this is only the first act in a series and if you take the time to explore all of the dialogue options you can get a good 15+ hrs of game play out of this.
The music is fantastic, the art is very solid with highly detailed, beautiful painted environments. It is very much a point and click adventure so if that is not your thing you will not enjoy this game regardless of how good it is - lots of reading and puzzle solving. You can see that a lot of love was put into this project and these characters and I respect that.
If the genre is your type of thing I'd highly recommend
Tad short, and unlike Homestuck not free. Still good though!

i absolutely recommend it, even to people who have never read homestuck and to people barley know anything about it. i personally really love the animations, soundtracks and just everything honestly.
also for act 2, i loved everything, especially the background characters because they all have such cool designs!
and ofc the game is probably not for everyone because it's also a point n click game. but i really loved it! (i don't really write reviews so it might be a bit crappy..)
art is cool and i think i might have brain damage considering i wandered around zoey's house for 20 minutes having no idea where to go

8/10 at most. if you're playing this game and wanting to get every achievement, just know that it's currently impossible as of now.
every achievement is obtainable except for >BOROS. its a pretty good game regardless of that, the art is absolutely amazing and i love the vibes. throw rocks at joey claire (affectionately)

Great introduction to the four part (presumed) game with interesting lore with sweet easter eggs and references to Homestuck while having enough Hiveswap exclusive concepts and storylines to not utterly confuse players who never read Homestuck. Can't wait to play Act II and for the rest of the acts to come out.
this game is beautifully made and has stunning visuals. the gameplay is also relatively quick if you know what you're doing with the puzzles. it only took me a little bit of yesterday and a little bit of today to finish it, and only that long because i kept forgetting what to do in certain parts lmao. but i'd highly recommend this game to all homestuck fans out there.
as of right now, this has GOT to be my favorite act out of the two! my first time playing this game was an absolutely unforgettable experience, and i still find this game pretty fun to replay too sometimes! in my opinion, one of the most important things in a game (besides the plot ofc) would be the music, and i absolutely LOVE this games music! i could listen to these soundtracks ON LOOP and never get tired of them! and the characters in this game are honestly some of my favorite characters in fiction! i'd like to THANK this game and it's developers for giving me and thousands of others an INCREDIBLE gaming experience! THIS is my favorite video game!

Good game, but extremely short. Just as I reached the interesting part; finally getting to meet xefros in alternia, act one ends. If you have money to spare, don't buy just act one, buy act two as well. Because its mostly puzzles and visuals. The animations and art are 10/10, I love them. I love the character and the little details, as a homestuck fan who's also interested in making 'fantrolls' picking up visual alternian culture through hiveswap is mighty helpful especially when it comes to hives and the exteriors.
My rating for this game overall is 8/10 simply because its so short. Do I recommend it? I dont know, depends if you're into this stuff. I only have 3 hours on this, maybe there are things I missed but I'm not good with puzzles and so finding the rest of the secret achievements is not my thing, but if it is for you, go ahead!

I finished this game in one sitting lol I was so excited to finally play it. I love the new look on alternian culture, gonna be obsessing over that for MONTHS. This also motivated me to start a translation of alternian text (I know there are a bunch online but its funner to DIY)

Highly recommend, especially if you’ve read Homestuck. The game definerly does replicate the same feel as the comic through its humor, animations, and design. Even if you haven’t read the comic, I’d still give it a go. The only complaint I have is that it’s abit on the short side, so wait for a sale (if it does) if you’re patient enough.

cool game
It's a beautiful point and click game stuffed full of homestuck references, but you don't need to have read the comic to enjoy the story here. I only wish Act 3 were out but I also know there was a lot of drama for a while. I haven't ever encountered any bugs like I have with many other games so there's that. I think my only peeve would be the Boros achievement which isn't possible to get at this point in the series; I love 100% ing things so when i legit can't it's a tad frustrating. Other than that I seriously recommend this and Act 2 for the art, music, and lore.
I really enjoyed playing this game.
I think I just don't like point and click puzzle games.
