Nice interface and feels very responsive and fun.
I HATED the game at first, but instead of just not recommending the game, I forced myself to play it to the end, so I could see what other players loved about it and be fair in my review - and however painful it was for me to finish the game, I ultimately have to recognise it's a well made game with a lot of passion behind it, so I do recommend it - pick it up in a sale and you'll have a decent CRPG in your library for when you don't want to play Pillars of Eternity, Pathfinder or Dragon Age (not that one).
STORY: The story in general is good. But the writing shifts between really good prose and amateur-15-year-old-me writing a fanfic and not much in-between. Either the dialogue and texts are snappy and impactful, or they are drawn out and disjointed - and by the end of the game, right before the last encounter, although the game has told you 95% of it's story, the last 5% are told through a VERY LONG conversation between the characters before the game lets you get to the final boss fight.
COMBAT: it's decent, but it is completely unbalanced in some fights and overstays its welcome very fast. Although the game has different "battle modes", it's all the same in essence and, if you want to skip the boring 10 minute fights, just put the difficulty on "easy" or "story" and steamroll everything in the game - And I'm a min/max freak, so it's really not a matter of not building my characters right, it's just objectively unbalanced in some places. Seriously, you're not losing much by lowering the difficulty.
LEVEL DESIGN: It's pretty clever, mostly succeeding in making you come across the side content while pursuing the main quest, which makes it a lot easier to play. But by the mid point in the game, it starts to wear out and repeat itself with repeated combat encounters and silly puzzles that are not very fun to explore. And by the end of the game they try to strech the last tasks for as long as possible before letting you get to the final encounter.
I forgot to return this game on time :/ Wish I could because I really didn't like this game. I can't even remember why now....I suppose that it just bored me.
f... steal for the price
this game has a great mellow flow.. there isn't a bunch of chore quests, only chore, if any, is walking the map between engagements, but its 95% resolving battles at your own pace with a satisfying progression.. very chill game.. story line was great and had its own charm..
If you want to play CRPG game with Realtime Pause, please play Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Pillar of Eternity or Tyranny. You will know the differences between those games to this one.

A great take on the crpg formula. Good story as well. Lucky to have so many different rpgs. This one is kind of Grim Dawn meets Pillars of Eternity. Worth the buy

hidden gem
This game has a well thought out story line and the story is deep.
Like a poor bum, I pirated the game back in 2018 and finished it, so disregard hours played.
Up to this day it has the best story I ever experienced. Imagine 1998 seeing Undertaker throwing Mankind off Hell In A Cell. Yes, that good.
If I had to choose between experiencing this game's story again like it's the first time, or my wife and two kids, I would need some time to contemplate. In fact, this game is the reason I have a wife and kids. My entire life can be divided into before playing tower of time and after. My sausage got bigger. I got more confident. Women suddenly noticed me. Please, don't underestimate this game. Don't let it slip. It'll change your life.

combat system is really different. not bad, just really different. Reasonable story for a dungeon crawl.
Would 100% recommend on sale.
If you're an achievement hunter, be prepared for some difficulty when 100% the game.
Most achievements are gotten on lowest difficulty, yet some are locked behind Epic difficulty hence the difficulty part of getting 100%.
The game is quite good; I might even replay it someday. I really liked the ending—it was an unexpected finale.
The only thing I didn't like was how the reputation system with companions only affects battles. It would have been nice if it had a more global impact.
Additionally, it wasn’t clear why certain “critical” choices in the tower—like the portal with forest creatures or the orcs—ultimately didn’t seem to affect anything (except for companion reputation).
The game also crashed a few times. In one location, the FPS dropped to around 3-4. The problem occurred on Windows 11, but everything worked fine on Windows 10.
Controls are too sluggish and unresponsive. Character pathing is frustrating when navigating the overworld, I.E. You must click just ahead of the characters, not to a mid distance or below some stairs or they'll get confused.
They offer a pause option for combat to make it more Baldur's Gate style but the pause is not immediate so it adds needless clunkiness to the combat. Combat also does not feel rewarding.
That all being said, I got it on sale for $2.50. Absolute bang for your buck in that respect.
A bit goofy and the character interactions seem a little forced. I'm sure the story probably gets better with investment.

But for an upside-down tower, is everything perfectly orientated the right way up?
There are aspects of the game that I like but overall, it's a no. The biggest problem is it's billed as a strategy and really, you don't need any to get through the game. I think the first boss fight required a little thought but after that, even bosses with 20k health are no real challenge. I think I maybe crafted 2 items just to see how it is but generally using dropped epic gear since legendary almost always has a negative aspect (which is a neat idea, but I'm lame). Regular encounters I pop a couple summons down and treat it like an auto battler. For bosses I need to refresh the summons... meh.
The concept of the story started out cool, but meeting of the other characters felt contrived and as the story advances and you go further down (or up) the tower I feel like it's railroading me down a path of increasingly poor choices. If I really know what my companions know and see what they see, why would I do this? I understand why, but I think the writing is maybe a bit of a blunt instrument.
In the beginning it was kind of fun but now I'm often finding myself asking "When will this level end?" Often I like exploring and large level offerings but here, I find it a bit boring. I havent completed the game, to be honest. But I also won't be completing it regardless. Just can't bring myself to finish it
I love the story and the setting, the grafix and sprites are good, but I cannot say I am a fan of the combat style, I wish it would have been pure turn based.
I do think its a very good game and people that like real time tactics should really love it. I do recommend but its not for me sorry to say. I might revisit it some time though.

A true hidden gem among crpg games. Tower of time is their first game and they done it so well.
Before I start to talk about tower of time let me just say I finished it multiple times first on steam in 2019 then on gog and again on steam. I bought multiple copies so far because I really like it. Why not?
I will not talk about story much but I will say that story is really good, interesting that keeps you going until the end.
As a dungeon crawler looks amazing I believe they used Unreal Engine 4 for this game. Level of details is amazing, waterfalls, stone statues, carving on the walls, particles that falls on the ground, astonishing.
Gameplay is what you would expect from an rpg game, exploration, managing your party members, finding loot and gearing your heroes. Other part of the game are fights that taking place in small arenas where you can test your tactical skills against lot of enemies. Tactic is crucial part of every battle, sometimes felt like there were too many enemies but never felt unfair or too hard.
Equipping and gearing your team is huge part of the game, there is so much depth in it, enchanting, crafting, transmuting... I guess that`s why I liked it so far cause I could test different playstyles and builds.
There are 6 classes in the game pre-determined, we cannot change that which means there are no character creation screen, something I didn`t like. No matter how you play or what difficulty you choose you always start with Keane and Meave (shieldguard and archer).
Another thing I liked is that they all have different personalities, very often they would argue about something which makes game so much more fun :)
After 3 playthroughs I can only say amazing game and incredible job and ideas from this small team. Great job guys.
If you`re into CRPG games don`t skip this one, its really good.
Great game with interesting combat.
Too many plot-holes, and a weak ending. Pathing is terrible, requiring frequent clicks to get the characters to navigate many ramps or stairs.
