Devade 9/10

not bad
A game more about playing enough times that you memorize the obstacle locations than actually being skill-based
Devade is yet another of several hundred, if not thousands of garbage low effort endless runners plaguing Steam. Like all endless/autorunners, you're moving and you can't stop. All you can do is avoid the obstacles coming at you in this incredibly shallow shovelware game. The notable difference here is the lack of 2D retro pixel art or... well.. any art at all. It's just low quality pixel blobs and shapes. You tap your mouse button to make the lines "jump", avoiding the blobs coming down the screen at you. Yeah, it's more Russian shovelware garbage infesting the place... another minimum viable product dumped here as a cash grab for a few rubles.
From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic low quality vector art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the mediocre 2D visuals.
The game features extremely lazy, minimalist "art", of the type you normally expect to see in low effort Flash/browser games and mobile apps. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing.
The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here.
This looks and feels like a mobile app, but it doesn't seem to have made it to the app stores. It's unclear why this was put on Steam instead of the app stores it seems to have been designed for. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all).
Regardless, for all intents and purposes Devade might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
You don't have to take my word about how bad the game is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. Devade has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for starting the game, but less than 6 percent of players bothered to. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch.
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show less than 6 percent of players bothered playing the game. How is it possible for this game to have so many concurrent players who weren't even playing the game? Trading cards. Players will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game. That tells us people only really bought this game for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
Devade is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.
It works, I finished it, and I got the achievements. Would recommend it to fellow achievement hunters.
Don't waste your time with this trash.
The earth is 4.6 billion years old and we managed to exist at the same time as this masterpiece.
this game is about knowing when to click or not click. guiding 2 lines to pass obstacles.
sort of reflex, concentration and a little bit of memory training.
note: can make you dizzy and a bit annoying, so play it when you're fresh.
tbh I didn't enjoy playing this game. Pretty boring and at some point annoying, but the greed for achievements is real.
This game is horrible
4/5
among cheap, crappy, achievement hunter baiting games, this one is a diamond.
challenging and with good soundtrack!
have fun
nice little game. quite addictive, but i got dizzy after a while. however ~ 1,5-2 hrs to 100%
6,5/10
Didnt enjoy playing this game you have to play some levels more than once just to know where you need to be on screen, its like a flash game that has easy achievements but not recommended.
Its a good game if you dont have alot of money and you are lazy and just want to press one button for your enjoyment like some kind of man made coma
Stick to the outside, come in a couple of times when you have to and beat every map while clicking your mouse into an early grave. Shit not worth even a cheap mouses life for this pile of garbage.
Devade is a minimalistic skill game. You need to control two symmetrical lines and avoid objects on your way to the finish line. Sound simple but is a lot of fun.
The game starts slow, and the difficulty rises on a smooth level over the course of the many levels of the game.
The only thing that gets annoying over time is that you can only control the movement of your lines with clicking the left mouse button and since you often need to button mash to avoid obstacles, it isn’t the best choice in my opinion. An option to change the button would be a great addition to the game.
Otherwise there isn’t much to complain about. The soundtrack is alright and fits the action on your screen. I enjoyed my time with Devade.
If you’re looking for a cheap skill game that will entertain you for a few hours, I can absolutely recommend giving Devade a try.
Only get for achievements. Actual game is dull and bad.
I am hesitant to give this game a positive rating because of many issues, but overall the game is acceptible for the low price.
Pros:
- 75 fast achievements (roughly 30 minutes)
- Gameplay is somewhat challenging and entertaining
- Great soundtrack and price
Cons:
- Bad controls - you must spam left mouse instead of hold it
- Minor stuttering when soundtrack moves to next song which can cause the player to restart the level
- No level selection - once you beat the game it resets you back to the first level
[*] As of now, the achievement for completing the last level is bugged for many people. No level selection means those people must restart the entire game to have a chance to earn it again.
Edit: Bugged achievement has been fixed, so I now recommend this game to achievement hunters.
This game is as simple as they come. But it IS fun, and it is a quick time killer when you're looking for a casual little game just to have a little fun with when you got a few minutes to kill. It requires clicking your left mouse button to spread two lines apart to avoid the lines crashing into any oncoming objects. Do nothing to let the lines come back together. Don't crash. Simple as that.
I like it. Watch this video to see me play the game and also hear me explain why I disagree with the single negative review that is currently on this steam page for this game:

My Score (which is boosted by a high "value" score, the biggest part of my indie game scoring system I use): 85%
Recommended for those of you who appreciate simple little casual games and who aren't expecting Call of Duty or Diablo 4 for your 99 cents here. ;-)
