Get it if you LOVE Fallout 4 and own a VR headset but for me, Skyrim VR is so much better. Plus the most immersive part of the game was taking off the headset.
For starters, YES, every negative review makes entirely valid points about needing to mod the game into playability. However I would only really say you need 2-3 mods to achieve that and have a casual experience with this game.
If you somehow don't believe you'd need mods to run this game, you're either new to Bethesda games, or live under a rock. Bethesda is notorious for leaving the process of fixing their games up to modders. Just grab some mods and install them, not that hard, and you'll be good to play one of the most enjoyable VR experiences I have personally had.
I will also agree that this is easily the laziest VR port I have ever seen. Those reviews aren't lying either. In general, take every negative review and accept them as true. Then put aside the concern and mod. Boom. You're enjoying the game.
Amazing. Requires lots of MODs, but amazing.
Overpriced and half assed.
1 Star after years of being released Bethesda could easily add arms or a body but no they don't care about their fan base at all. They rely on free labor to do their work such as the modding community and for the vr mods are not as easy to set up plus no DLC content at all. 1 Star Bethesda dropped the ball.
This game is one of the biggest jokes possible. The game is basicly Fallout 4 Vanilla without the Creation Club or any DLCs. For 60 Bucks....
And NOW the highlight.... If you own Fallout 4 (non VR Version) with DLCs , Mods and saves... you can move the files into the Fallout 4 VR folder and get every DLC the non VR game has while these mods dont exist for Fallout 4 VR.... Most of the mods from normal Fallout 4 work. Bethesda did the absolute minimum to make a VR Version to get a VR Version while the big VR hype was on max.
Game is not optimised controller wise and you can clip thru objects because they didnt add collision for the player. Weapons float in the air and you can shoot everything with one hand.... yes .... Gattling guns too....
To fix this basic stuff you need dedicated mods because Bethesda didnt care enough to work at all.
So... I recomend this game because its Fallout 4 in VR but YOU need to do so mucn to make this playable AND need another game to get the DLCs too.
While Fallout 4 is an older game, it's still fun and lends itself to VR well. It's open world, has many options for weapon choice, and a well populated map with plenty to do. The one downside for me is that, in the event of a nuclear apocalypse like this, the world would likely be much greener, like Chernobyl today. I'm sad that it's so desolate. There are mods for that, though.
Preforms horrid
Best vr game ever, better than any resident evil vr game.
Very buggy. Don't bother.
I love this game. As your character explores, you get more and more attached to places and other characters. You have the opportunity to create communities, fight off interesting creatures, and you learn about how each of the weapons work. The graphics are great and it truly is a great adventure.
Please update the game, Its amazing but at least give it a small update
With the right mods installed this game is pretty fun. Bethesda might make games that are meh, but their biggest win is allowing the modding community to take off. Some games I've spent more time modding than actually playing. xD
WITH MODS this is one of the greatest games ive ever played, made for VR.
WITHOUT MODS its not really playable. Shame on bethesda.
But man is it great with DLSS mod (DLAA) and modlists (gingas)
controls suck
if you can get past forcing compatibility for your headset, its pretty gud
like with borderlands vr, you start to notice how detailed the game world and weapons are
sadly like with skyrim vr, father todd has abandoned this game, evident by it having no creation club access
super fun beat people
good
Fallout has always been a good game, and being able to explore the Commonwealth in VR has been fantastic
A clumsy made port, needs mods to be fun, but as it's base, just feels like a stuttery cash grab. Mod it, and you'll have a blast.
Well, what can i expect from the devs? a Good and optimized game? nope. dont get this unless its 90 percent off, and even then i still wont blame you for feeling ripped off. Game stutters and blurs every five seconds, no i am not exaggerating, perhaps giving too much leeway to say even that. just get the normal version. and do yourselves a favor, you will encounter less bugs. theres a reason why you dont see anything about the VR game play in the store-page
Un-playable without mods
awesome
It's not bad, needs some work, and definitely should not be 40$ I recommend downloading some mods with this game
I tried to play it on valve index. Ive tried really hard to make it work, but those controls are so very bad that... well, theyre way beyond worst controls I ever used in VR. I just cant find words for it.
Just trust me. If you plan to use index controllers and are thinking that you can download some mods, tweak some controls in steamvr settings and it will be barely playable, youre way too optimistic for this one. Its completely unplayable. Broken as can be, beyond saving.
Do yourself a fovour, turn around and dont waste your precious time on it. Honest advice.
HEY YOU, STOP RIGHT THERE!
You have considered buying this game, that's your FIRST MISTAKE.
you bought the game, because it was 99% off? SECOND MISTAKE!
So this the future of Bethesda. This is probably one of the most disappointing excuses for a product I've ever seen. Not just because it require 3 hours of modding and troubleshooting just to open the game, but because Bethesda never came back to fix it. Imagine what people would think of CD Project Red if they just left Cyberpunk as it was. Who would buy their games? If Bethesda is happy treating its own IP so poorly, I'm really not looking forward the Starfield VR port whenever it comes out. I'm so curious, why did they even waste their time making this so bad? Doing a crap job just so it exists is probably one of the most disrespectful things you could do to your consumer base. Bethesda is dead, and its sad. Not even worth buying on sale. Stay clear of this bugfest
Picked up Fallout 4 VR during a 60% off sale, and honestly, it’s been a blast. Stepping into the Commonwealth in virtual reality feels immersive in a way the flatscreen version never could—roaming the ruins, scavenging, and blasting mutants with my own hands is just plain fun. The scale of the world hits different when you’re in it, and I’ve sunk hours into wandering without even noticing.
I don’t get the hate, personally. Sure, it’s not perfect—controls can be a bit janky, and it’s not built from the ground up for VR like some newer titles. But for a game adapted to VR, it delivers that Fallout vibe I love, now with an extra layer of “whoa.” At the sale price, it’s easily worth it to me. If you’re a Fallout fan and have a VR setup, give it a shot—don’t let the naysayers scare you off!
Not even out of sanctuary getting stuck and phasing through walls. the rest of the issues might just be Quest side knowing how little intelligence people use towards making sure every piece of technology has proper support. *cough* "syths arent shit." Didn't leave sanctuary and encountered a considerable amount of problems and its clear the developers of this put little to no effort to kill the bugs, errors and issues of this game let alone the actual game. its 2025 and we have games that are still stuck in the 2000s in quality so do better or retire. Has potential but the developers gotta show some on their end first.
One of the best VR game... When modded.
No need of a very long list of mods, really.
MIne is 82 mods long including the usual performance Patches and fixes, finer textures for better graphics, better npcs and monsters models and some gameplay changes ( full body, holsters, no collisions with npcs, etc...).
ekun aloc
its fun inside of fallout world, ok, what else, um its like cool and good story!
I've been playing the game for a little bit now over the Meta Quest 3. It plays well. I do experience the lag times but that's to be expected while playing through the Steam Link via network connection instead of the Quest cable link. I enjoy the having to hold my left arm up to view the pipboy armband. The Aiming of weapons is fantastic, definitely don't find the need of using the VATS system. I do have some criticism though. 1 it's a Bethesda game which means you can expect glitches and some game freezes but because of auto saves you can expect to be reloaded relatively close to where it locked up at. 2. Why didn't you bring the height adjustment feature over from Skyrim VR? I don't want to sit down and look like I'm living life like a 10 year old at their height. Overall, I'm very happy with the game with just wanting some fixes and features added.
i want my £60 back like such a rip off where is the full body
This Game is PEAK. The game looks amazing and for a game that was just thrown into vr, the vr mechanics are amazing
I am not sure why all the negative reviews but this game is amazing as is without mods and I play a lot of VR games like Half Life Alyx and am a huge Skyrim/fallout fan (over 6000+ hours combined on them, with mods). This VR game so far does not need mods. This game lets you pick things up and place them down unlike SkyrimVR where you had to get a mod to do that. So far I only have small issues but nothing big.
game seems a bit unstable sometimes and jus be crashin but the game is fire and super immersive when it lets you play for a couple hours, lowk usually only crashes once and then i can play for hours
I love the normal version of the game, but the VR port is atrocious. Mods can help, but they're still not enough to save this mess.
great game just like the standard game idk why there is poor reviews ya the controls can be wonky at times but its still good
runs poor;y very stutters a lot everything in the game world is super small mainly humans it's just a lazy port of base fallout 4 to vr but done incredibly poorly
Wasn't advertised as working with the DLC, but the fact that none of the DLC works makes it not worth playing imo. Even if mods didn't work, I'd have been fine as long as I could get Atmomaton and extra workshop items. Alas.
The game is in dire need of being brought up to date with the standard version and also have the DLCs compatible with it. The neglect of this release, especially after the popularity of the TV show is disgraceful.
No keyboard shows up for name registration. I cant even play. BULLSHIT
.
Still love it! You need to mod the S@^$ out of it though. Vortex mod manager works the best.
Prefacing this with the fact that Fallout 4 was an absolute masterpiece and truly a game worth coming back to again and again. I have tried to play this tragedy multiple times in multiple configurations. I've read tips from other players, guides, recommendations. I've tried just modifying settings and setup in dozens of permutations. The end result is still shoddy, unnatural, and a bit nauseating in terms of virtual reality motion sickness (even with teleportation and other VR settings to reduce this).
broken, doesnt work
Completely broken doesn't even work save your money
I ignored all the warnings and reviews thinking this game would be fine. Hear me when I say, it is a terrible VR port the original Fallout 4. You can improve it alot with mods, but I never managed to get it to work properly. Its just a headache through and through. Don't waste your money!
its good
