nice strategy game
It's a bit boring. Sad
Very fun game that pulls you into your characters really hard. Makes losing them and the sacrifices it takes to push forward all the better.
I'd be more than happy to praise many of this game's design elements, such as music, pleasant-but-non-demanding graphics, crafting, the combat card game, and others, if it weren't for one encounter that makes the game unplayable in my view.
A monster called "Light-sick Striga Master" can spawn pretty much immediately and is impossible to defeat, because its challenge level is at least 2 levels higher than what you usually deal with this early on. It actively seeks you out when you are in its sight range, is faster than you, and worse yet, uses an attack type that your party typically isn't skilled at initially. So once it reaches you, you are nearly guaranteed a party wipe, because there's no winning the fight, and no escaping.
There's no possibility of any counterplay. Getting through early game means rolling the dice on Striga Master spawns. If it spawns close to you, you might as well restart. I have no idea how this got past testing or why it's still in the game after all these years. It is all the more surprising seeing as the difficulty of other encounters seems meticulously crafted to give you a fair challenge, increasing gradually as your party gets stronger. All other unbeatable early challenges are well-telegraphed and/or require the player to actively seek them out. And then there's the Striga Master that just gives you the middle finger. Absolutely unacceptable. Which is a real shame, because the game has much to offer past that point.
I prefer Thea 1 and have only played 2 for 40+ hours BUT I like it for its ease and overall update in game play compared with Thea 1. combat is much easier as is crafting and gathering. There is more of a build up in challenges and each island gives you a higher level of difficulty.
Great game, I loved Thea 1, this was an unexpected change compared to the first but still fun. Avoid the switch port that's where I got it first and ended up wasting my money.
A surprisingly nuanced game where you can start with a ragtag group of human settlers barely eking out an existence, only to perish horribly before returning as an undead horde fielding a small army of baby polar bears on a quest to revenge-murder swarms of possessed pumpkins! Or, you know, any other combination of absurdity that Thea 2 not only allows but often outright demands.
Every time I return to Thea 2, I get sucked into the unique charm of its world and systems. The game blends elements of strategy, survival, and role-playing in a way that feels fresh and different from other titles. Its mix of crafting, combat, story, and party management creates a thoroughly engaging experience that keeps me coming back to see what weirdness might unfold next.
Overall, the game offers a highly customizable experience, workshop support, free DLC, and even a demo so you can dip your toes into the wrathful waters (thanks, Wrath of the Sea DLC!) for free. Ahem, I mean—what’s not to love?
civ but all earlygame and fantasy
Give me Thea 3
The game is an interesting mixture of story-telling with some roleplaying elements and management of your teams and its ressources. At the beginning this management is tedious and keeping stock of your looted weapons and constantly reequipping your characters can be tedious, but is part of the gameplay. Compared to the first Thea game, this has been vastly improved.
Great casual game with stories and random events.
Great game :)
a fun game, a better upgrade from the original version.
I still wanna play!
I suppose this style of game might be for some people. Gathering resources, to build your equipment, your food, your housing. While also managing the minutiae of every aspect of your group members lives. Sounds like an extremely boring chore to me, and for .2 hours, it was just that. Boring. I got the feeling that hadn't even passed the tutorial. I was already so incredibly bored, I wanted to stop. Then I got to the point of having it explained to me how I had to balance my Chosen's sanity, with using their morale to rebuild it over time, and that having either aspect drop to 0 would mean the character would leave my party and be gone. Wow... what a needlessly complex, overwrought and boring mechanic to deal with, multiplied by every single character you bring into your party. I'm not sure what's more amazing, how mindbogglingly dull that would be to deal with or the fact that there seem to be no small amount of gamers who felt it was worthy of a thumbs up in their review.
I thought I had played Thea (the first one), and perhaps I had, I can no longer recall. However, if I enjoyed it, then it played nothing like this. Nothing about this was fun, or even hinted at becoming fun if I stuck with it long enough. If anything it only hinted at how much tedium would be in store for me if I stuck with it, so I did not.
12 hours of decent fun with a disappointing finish. I'd give this game a 'meh' out of 10. All my progress has randomly disappeared (God Points all gone) and I'm sure this is somehow my fault.
After playing the game just doesn't have it. I believe it is an good game if you come to play a roaming rougelike but if came to Thea 2 from Thea 1 from playing more civ like games there's not much there to keep you playing.
I did not agree to have my money donated to a country whose goverment is known for embezzling it.
Unbalanced trash
Nothing special
The game.
would say it comes close to Civilization (without city builder) it have micro stories
it's a card game that play events based on cards
Game play
It's nowhere close original Thea game. to even call it Thea 2 feels like scamming players into something that's absolute not.
do it makes it a bad game. (more or less) if you expecting Thea game. which the game say it's Thea 2.
Graphics.
I like it's design of cards, but can be made with today's AI much better. (the 3D art like map etc) is underwhelming
and nothing special.
Sound.
Music is killing it, but you buying a game not a music disc.
I don't Recommend this game unless you get a massive discount and like card games.
Stick with the 1st game, much more enjoyable.
witch curses girl
girl becomes rat
rat falls in love with wraith
they birth a human
the cycle continues
a fun 4X. gets kind of repetitive once you figure out abusing the crafting system but still good for a few hundred hours
I played Thea 1 and I thought that was a fun game... then I was like, "hay, Thea 2 has multiplayer, let's try it with friends" and OH MY GOD! We've spent 130 hours in the game in the last 2 weeks and we all have full time jobs. The game is soo much fun!! Only not so fun thing is there are still several noticeable bugs, almost all of which are not game breaking and only mildly annoying.
The idea is interesting, but the combat system is terrible. A lot of time in the game is spent rearranging items.
Every single thing in Thea 1 is better, then in Thea 2.
This is absolute trash, ignore it and get the first game instead.
If you're set on buying it, you can pick it up on other platforms for less then 3 bux.
It is an excellent game that has aged-very-well.
I have no real complaints.
Great game similar to the original. I have not been able to win the game as it is hard for me, but still love the game.
This is a very fun game with a ton of content. Hours of hours of enjoyment and great replay value.
Great game!
