only slightly OK.
there are nine maps. and about four unique maps.
i finished the game before i got my 3rd card.
the achievements are easy. the exit is on the table.
it crashed then i chose a lower resolution and it worked.
you could click on stuff with the mouse to damage the mobs or mine money.
only 3 maps with 6 predetermined spots for towers
Not a very good Tower Defense.
Definitely only worth picking up when it is a 1.00 or less...and ONLY if you are wanting the achievements and cards.
Although I think the ability to click (fast) on enemies to kill them, and click (fast) on the mine to get more currency to spend to build towers, are really great ideas, there are only 3 actual levels that are reused over and over, only 4 towers to build, and only 2 towers you will actually use. You earn money at the end of each level, that you can spend on 3 upgrades per tower.
It's a pretty easy, but very boring grind.
If you like TD games, this is not one you need to even try. No story, no depth, at all, and no fun to be had. Unlocking the upgrades gave no sense of satisfaction...
Really sad. I love TD games, but this one is surviving on achievements and cards alone...which to some, is enough.
I mean...this game is not worth anywhere near 6 dollars, but it's worth the 60 cents it's on sale for right now. Not too simple or straightforward to be a bore but it's a very simple tower defense game (with a lot of clicker elements) so it can only offer so much. Fun to play once and finish. Beyond that there's not much to do.
An interesting and unusual game, beautiful graphics, well-designed maps.
I will be honest, if I had made this game, I would be very proud of myself. I would show it to my friends and family, maybe even toss it up on free-game site, but the thought of charging money for this is really odd.
Okay, first the pluses. It works! Sure, it has a few quirks, a long gap at the end that makes you wonder if something is wrong. Except for that one stage that ended while monsters were still on the board. But it works just fine.
And the art is pretty nice, the background is attractive, the early monsters are pretty good, and the later monsters, these two types of big galumping guys who look like guys in college mascot suits are wonderful! All of the monsters should have been a variant on these guys!
The guns were blah, and the menu-room were okay, nice 3D, but kind of blah.
Usually I comment on the music, but there was none. There were nice wind-sounds that suited, and as I went from start to finish in 62 minutes, that was fine.
The controls were... okay, they worked, most of the time, but when they didn't it could be an issue. The worst was a tower whose support box wouldn't pop-up. As this is needed for upgrades and such, it was pretty important, but it only happened once.
Now the short comings.
There are three types of guns, all of which shoot ground units and fliers, which is nice, except there are no fliers, that I can tell. The DPS is easy to figure, and the cheapest gun is the best. Upgrades are expensive enough that there never seems a reason to do anything but build the cheapest gun, and only upgrade it.
Plus they only upgrade twice, so meh.
There is a freeze tower, but the impact is minimal, and never as good as just placing another gun.
There seems to be four maps that are used over during the whole nine levels of game. Even the gun placement locations are the same.
There is no sign of fluff, if there in a beastiary, I didn't see it. Odd how these games seem to go light on the easy touches, the things that take zero programming to add, but give a game flavor and personality.
For example, why does the game have such a strong fantasy flavor, but our weapons are guns, rockets and lasers? Makes no sense.
The worst thing however, for me, was the tactical opportunities. Mouse clicks. Yup, mouse clicks damage the monsters a little, and fifty clicks on a stone mine gives you ten gold. Guaranteed to give you carpal-tunnel if you play it long enough. Even in the short hour of play, I had some pain in the mouse hand.
Kudos, honestly, to the designers, they made something nice, and something that works, but I really feel they should have used this to build upon, and sell the fourth of fifth generation, not this prototype. Two thumbs down.
ADDENDUM: Got an announcement of a huge update, so in to be fair I gave it another look, but nothing has really changed. Still two thumbs down.
NOOO!
this game is not worth a penny. it is made cheeply, upgrading the wepons does nothing and inturn makes levels inposable to pass with out braking your finger trying to click on the things to decrees there health
This is not a very good game. It's extremely one dimensional. The cheapest tower fully upgraded is all you need to easily beat the game. In fact the more expensive towers do far less damage. The grphics are blah. There is very little choice to change up where you place towers.
It's kind of obvious this was a game made by someone experimenting with making games.
At a dollar? Well who cares about a dollar anyways. You should get 1-2 hours out of this game. It wont be that enjoyable but time will at least pass a little.
Meh. only a few missions; some are dups. High end weapons don't do much compaired to low level guns. 3 sets of upgrade for 4 devices (gun, lazer, rocket, freeze). Doesn't feel final.
Kinda brief... Kinda too brief.
9 levels with 3 repeating maps with the gun spots at the same places.
2000's style graphics and sound.
You have to use arrows (where one of them just turned 180 degrees, lol) to scroll the screen.
Sometimes game ends, while you still see units walking to the gate. Like, you'd kill them anyway, so who cares.
Sometimes game ends when you killed everyone, made a cup of coffee, drinked it and made another - a bit later, than it should.
You have to click the enemies to make additional damage, instead of placing one more gun and cool down.
Well, I could tell more, but just trust me - the game is bad at literally every aspect.
Very boring game. Not worth the money. Graphics suck as well. Do not buy this.
Decide for yourself
Pros:
easy achievements
See my guide http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1095832209
Cheap trading cards
Cons:
-has frame rate issues
-the mouse becomes stuck for a few seconds
-the game sometimes slows down greatly and then speeds up again which makes shooting the bad guys kind of annoying.
Finished the game, got all cards and 100% achievements in less then two hours.
Game is a little dusty, could be really from the late 90's, but playable without crashes.
A few minor bugs, nothing serious.
Gameplay is repetitive, therefore 5/10 maybe less.
I probably wouldn't buy it again, but I can barely recomment it if you're a completionist.
This is pretty bare bones and requires very little strategy (I dare to claim this since I cleared all 9 maps using only one type of tower). If you are lucky you get one hour of gameplay out of this. The last 4 maps has some challenge at least, and as such I don't think this dollar-game was a complete waste. It's certainly not the worst TD out there, but far, faaar from the best.
The bad:
* Sound. Dear god man.
* Spam click monster to get their health down. It's just such a poor game mechanic it makes me sick.
* Length. Over befor
* Lack of strategy.
* Graphics and UI (Smartphone port I'd say). But you stop caring a few levels in. (As with most TD's)
The good:
* There is some challenge to be found.
* Interesting enough to keep me in to the end. (But the first 5 levels were stretching it).
* I figure it's easy to get 100% achievements if that's your thing.
Recommend because the dev(s?) must have put some effort in and it's cheap as dirt.
It's really not that great of a game though.
I wouldn't recommend this to friends, but to other TD-enthusiasts who likes to scrape the bottom of the barrel; go for it!
Not the best Tower Defense game, but still, for $2, not bad either. I had fun for the time I put into it.
9 lvls - 3x 3 same maps.
5 enemies types. 5 waves.
4 turrets with 2 upgrades each. you can finish the game in 1-2h of mindless boring grind with basic tower - other are usless.
ugly graphics from 1998, sounds from 1992.
worst tower defece game I ever play. it cost 2 euros, but it 's worth 10 cents.
avoid at any cost.
only 3 maps with 6 predetermined spots for towers. (10 "levels")
UI covers up you ability to upgrade/build towers
alot of clicking is required, not optional(click attacks)
cannot adjust sound in game
