Twitch.

nice rogue - lite .. you got some ammos, kill baddies, get gold, power up in the hub, rinse and repeat .. and you are a redneck in egypt !!!
Boomer Shooter + Roguelite = Very Fun
This is probably one of the best rouge lite boomer shooters ive played. It has a similar progression system to Vampire Survivors with gameplay like Doom. The map is a pyramid with randomized rooms each run so every run feels like you're going through a different pyramid. There is a consumable you can buy to make the pyramid the same as your last run but at the cost of no gold spawning. Tons of weapons and perks and there's curses to balance out the perks but its all random. The goal is to find the stairs on your floor and reach the next floor until you eventually reach the Apex of the pyramid. (there is also mini bosses you fight on the way up giving the game that extra bit of challenge it needs. The bosses arent to hard i actually found them pretty fun to fight. (I would forsure recommend this game especially if you're into boomer shooters, i would give it a try and if you dont like it you could always refund it if you have under 2 hours of play time <3
I have faced really annoying bugs that sometimes lead to death (like impossible to pick up the food).
second - your run is depend on luck. got no useful weapon? lose. got no useful scrolls (or got a bad one)? lose.
and also encrypting values like health and money makes it almost impossible to cheat with cheat engine. like why? single player game. that's in summery just kills the game for me
nice game. played pirated version several years back for some hours, dropped it cuz of lack of time, today spotted it in recommended, bought it and glad to play this long forgotten (by me) game again =)
Pretty good, if a bit simple.
FIRST IMPRESSION:
Fun but very mid game that could have been elevated drastically simply but giving more punch/oomph to the guns. It feels like your shooting BBs and throwing wet paper towels which takes away the powerful feeling shooters give. Its a humorous and more grind heavy Ziggurat . Worth it for the $1.99 sale as I feel ill get some good play time out of it but probably wouldn't buy it full price.
good game
Hes wrapped in bandages so you cant see how red his neck is. FALSE ADVERTISING!
I dont love this game, theres a few things about it that either annoyed me or i just didnt enjoy as much i would like. Some of the weapons are useless, shooting animation are not great, the progression is too sluggish. However it can be fun, i like the graphics and i think people might enjoy it.
I'm conflicted on Immortal Redneck. As a boomer shooter fan, I feel like I should love this game to death, but as a roguelike fan, it's kinda hard. The movement and gunplay are some of the most addictive in the genre, and they highkey carry the game in spite of its shortcomings. The music's pretty nice, too; I never considered how well a banjo and a sitar could work together. The bosses are cool, but the enemy and level design is frustratingly hit-and-miss - the blue sniper dudes in the third pyramid straight-up don't work sometimes and ruin certain rooms.
Redneck's biggest failing, though, lies in its roguelike elements. Immortal Redneck not only isn't a very good roguelike, but it feels like it doesn't even want to be one. Room layouts get VERY repetitive only a few hours in, and the skill rooms in particular get a groan out of me every time. Scrolls, your main source of progression during a run, can just be bad for you sometimes with garbage like adding fall damage (LOL) or removing one of your jumps. There's no interesting choice here, the game just decides your power-up is a power-down for no reason. I once had a run where nearly every scroll I picked up was bad, and there was nothing I could've done about it other than not picked up scrolls to begin with, which isn't fun. Some scrolls just turn off certain mechanics, which doesn't feel particularly well thought-out; Trap Disarmer trivializes most skill rooms by itself, for instance. The most you have in the way of long-term progression is a hackneyed skill tree, which leads to lengthy stretches of grinding each time you reach a new pyramid so you can get your numbers up. Frankly, it makes me wish the skill tree wasn't there and I could run through each pyramid as I unlock them by the seat of my own skill.
Immortal Redneck is also one of the most remarkably unpolished games I've seen come to market. Enemies spawning on top of you or damn close to it is a woefully not-uncommon occurrence. I once had to abandon a run when one of the enemies teleported out of the room and I couldn't kill it. The game's also prone to random stutters in my experience, one of which cost me a run on the final boss. The subtitles almost never match what your character is saying, and while I wouldn't mind it happening once or twice, it being every time Redneck opens his mouth is a bit distracting. These things don't bother me much on principle, but taken together, they come off as a lack of care taken by the developers. It feels like I'm playing an Early Access game, but the game's 8 years old and has been through multiple patches.
In spite of everything, I'd still say I enjoyed my time with Immortal Redneck. As much as I can't stand the jank, damn if the gunplay didn't have me hooked. "Good shooter, bad roguelike" is the best way I can describe it. I recommend Immortal Redneck with the hefty asterisk that it WILL test your patience as much as your aim and movement. If you're okay with that in the name of a fun boomer shooter, give this game a try - just maybe get it on sale.
good
Pros:
Engaging Boss fights with a good learning curve and cleverly designed enemies with tricky mechanics, some level layouts are neat and intuitive, making it easier to devise effective strategies.
Cons:
● The bad scrolls ruins everything, In Issac game, upgrades are visible and player can make their own decisions instead of being forced to accept some useless garbage, FXXK! Monkey see, monkey do.
● All the scrolls are shitty, these upgrades only change the base statics without offering any fun mechanics. Ironically, the bad scrolls have more mechanics than the actual upgrades, some like “You cannot switch weapon until the ammo are used up” or “ You lose HP when you jump”, some lazy and arrogant developers.
● The gunplay feels bad, and the shooting feedback on enemies is terrible. I highly doubt that there are no weak spots in this game. Typically, this game doesn’t even feel like a proper shooting game.
● The progression in this game sucks, a 20-minutes run to upgrade critical chance by 1% ? Do you think you're some kind of GaaS game? Fxxk yourself. and I can hardly ever get a decent weapon, guys this is a roguelite game not a Diablo game, I cannot keep that weapon permanent, what were you thinking?
捂着鼻子玩儿完的
Boss挺有意思学习曲线不错,有些关卡也很直观结构挺新颖;
Good game, i couldn't stop playing for a few days.
why did i buy this game i hate Roguelikes one of my friends warned me it was a Roguelike but i bought it anyway
and unfortunately it has been sitting in my library for too long so I can't get a refund
damn steam with their 50 to 80% discounts I fall for it every single time. damn you steam summer sale damn you
Fun n kewl
You go and get a scroll for a power-up, but it was actually a power-down.
Game would be much more enjoyable without that garbage.
Get on a 50% off sale only.
Rogue Legacy concept except in first person, while on paper it sounds interesting the execution is horrendous. Since this is fps every arena / room is in 3D and some rooms are full of heavy hazards that can actually end your run pretty quick, unlike in Rogue Legacy where destroying urns/vases you can get consumable[s] in this game there is no such thing, sure there are plenty of urns and vases and destroying them nothing drops out. Since this is fps game your weapons have ammunition that depletes but it is so scarce that you cant have enough of it to complete room and instead of game giving you ammo it gives new weapon which you don't want. You would think that using melee could help here, but the fact that melee does not exist in this game is stupid.
Bottom line.
Play Rogue Legacy instead or find better rogue like shooter.👎
At least I paid 2€ for this game.
Game is fun as heck. Got it on sale for $2, some of the best money I've ever spent lol.
Awesome, fast paced, Quake style rouge-like.
A cool roguelike FPS !
Worth it on sales ;)
This game fulfills every game's first and foremost duty: it is fun.
It can remain fun for multiple hours, as you unlock weapons and boosts and reach ever further into the pyramids.
But the difficulty curve is wild, and it's a lot more grindy than it needs to be.
I have 30+ hours on this game, and I barely made it 50% into the game's story. Some difficulty adjustment would be most welcome.
Having said that, if you don't mind the grind, or just want to get a couple of fun hours out of this game, then it's highly recommended.
Immortal Redneck is a competent early Rouge-like FPS that's hard to recommend ahead against its modern contemporaries.
The game is functional, and it is something to keep your hands busy while you're on a completionist grind, but it ends up feeling way more dull, grindy and borderline "clicker-like", that I mentally checked out after like 15 hours of podcast content I burned through.
The game plays like a floaty fast paced shooter, a borderline boomer shooter, set instead in small arena rooms that are connected into a maze like floor, with a boss every few floors. I enjoy fast paced shooters, so I persevered, it is only after some time that my gripes started to solidly form.
First is reload times, they're a massive momentum killer, you have big hordes to get rid off, yet your fun is always on a speed limit. Some weapons are without mags, some are even infinite ammo weapons, that pool however is somewhat limited, and the infinite ammo ones suck absolute balls, unless you luck out on some upgrade scrolls, a side issue as well is how unnecessary slow some of the projectile speeds are, which adds to the feeling.
Next is room design, some of the arenas are complete a*s, I have no power in my heart to defend a "cage fight" where you jump around a small cube and hope for the best, with waves spawning on the sides, some are just a long corridor with basically no room to maneuver around, these are two worst that come to mind, but I could go on for ages, generally - a lot of rooms end up being too convoluted/slow for the game type, level design is something that can make or break a good doomer shooter, and this is on a breaking point.
The enemies are not crazy, it's a combination of mindless melee swarm, and different sniper types, some of the snipers have crazy tracking, prefiring their arrows to where you're heading instead of at you.. The most common damage source is simply ranged snipers catching you in a crossfire, where one shoots at you directly, other prefires, so you might not have enough room to squeeze through. Other times you just forget which sniper has which pattern, as you fall asleep at the wheel, with how dull some of the gameplay is.
You get a wide selection of weapons and scrolls, but even that is not enough to build my excitement over the playtime, as a lot of the weapons just feel bad to use, and scrolls are just randomly making or breaking runs, and even the "making" of runs is rarely exciting, where I feel like I can perform marginally better, or have a decent upgrade at a cost of particular modifier, which I can then be unable to account for, by not getting more complementary scrolls or weapons.
Sometimes when I have the right weapon, am in the right arena, and have the right scrolls, it feels decent, on the verge of pretty good even, but they're moments that sometimes wake me up in an otherwise snoozefest of a game. Long term upgrades are also grindy, which doesn't help this feeling at all, so it's best to go through all the rooms per floor to maximize payout from the ended run, but bosses are just gimmicks to learn perfectly, as they can three shot my character, who has no healing outside of killing trash mobs. So I guess you can either rush for boss rooms to memorize a boring ass gimmick fight quicker, or subject yourself to waterboarding that is long floor clearing, to get as much stat upgrades after ending a run.
Visuals are some of the ugliest I have seen in a game, the art direction is "mobile game trailer", the mashup of a redneck main character and otherwise cartoony vaguely egypt inspired monsters is clashing, and not meshing. The animations have no weight, and my biggest praise overall is that it is clear enough what's happening most of the time, and that it's pretty colorful at times.
Sound is not a high point either, the music I got tired of after a while, the VA accent loses the novelty quick, sounds have weird volumes and I can almost never guess where an attack is coming from, besides the visual feedback. I have barely anything good to say about it, besides not being ear blasted at random, as some games do.
Story is AHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAA
Overall, I got it for a price of a chocolate bar, and I feel I got robbed of my time.
It's no brainer of you want more shoot shoot and trying to see how long you can last for chaotic fun
Forgot to leave a review for this gem. Definitely a good shooter, quite underrated by most people. I enjoyed it and it's very replayable, so will enjoy more of it of course
Love it, can't say anymore
Nice game, but now for days the daily and weekly challenge is botched.
Also it is A LOT of grind.
But for this money: not recommended.
The base idea is to play an arena FPS, like UT or Quake 3, against bots, inside a pyramid.
They really wanted the game to be a grindfest so they divided the weapons' damage by 50. Your starting weapons can barely injure a mosquito, and now you have 50 levels of damage to grind before you can play with satisfying weapons.
This is in addition to all the other stuff they found a way to make you grind for. The reload animations are so slow it feels like a bad joke. A literal slap in the face of the player. Also reload doesn't happen automatically, it waits that you try to fire to start the animation.
Most of the guns are unoriginal and boring with only one single fire mode, and it doesn't get much better with what you unlock or discover.
The level design is haphazard with spiral staircases everywhere and hard to reach platforms.
People who like arena-FPS won't be satisfied, and people who want a roguelite won't be satisfied either because apart from a few scrolls giving you bonuses or maluses, there is zero variability between runs.
You'll have seen all that the game has to offer in about 3 hours.
Music is the only thing that doesn't suck in this game.
(follow my curator page GenXPlayers for more retro and indie reviews)
Solid Roguelite FPS but a bit lacking in variety in certain areas. The game features a bunch of different characters and weapons which is cool, but there are only a handful of enemy types, two bosses, and a limited number of room types so despite the tons of different weapons and characters the game starts to feel pretty samey after awhile. Also the weapons are incredibly unbalanced, some weapons are just objectively better than others (the rocket launcher basically turns the final boss into a joke).
Overall a fun game but doesn't have the lasting appeal of other roguelites. Get it on sale if you can.

Description:
Immortal Redneck is a first-person-shooter with rogue-lite elements where you explore pyramids which are each split into stages that consist of rooms and culminate in a boss fight at the end of each stage. There is some character variety (each with differing play-styles) along with a plethora of weaponry/upgrades for the player to choose from during each run.
The setting is unique (Egyptian-esque) for a rogue-lite and the meta progression is good.
Monster variety is decent and the combination of weapons, perks (scrolls) and room modifiers keeps the game-play fresh.
The weak aspects of the game are the randomness of scrolls (some are worse than nothing since they impart negative effects), and poor weapon feedback (lacks punch).
TLDR: Immortal Redneck is a decent rogue-lite shooter that manages to stand out with its unique Egyptian setting.
I really enjoyed this game. Love the guns and the theme just love it. all around a good time if ya have not played this game I say give this game a try. 9/10
Nice game for a small challenge and fun.
Unfortunately, swapping weapons with the mouse-wheel is bugged on Linux. I can rebind them normally in the menu and if I keep scrolling it'll eventually change weapons after 2 or 3 full wheel rotations: showing that it works but it's just bugged.
For a simple game that has all of 10 key-bindings, to have 20% of them not work, I think it's enough to warrant a refund.
If it were a "activate item" key or "open mini-map", I might power through it but these are intrinsic to the core game loop!
I've been playing the vast majority of my games on Linux, including FPS for decades now. I've never had this issue before.
I'll keep playing Z Doom with modifications and the superb Obsidian level-generator instead.
absolutelly love this game
I really wish i could suggest this game, I really wish i could. Mostly because, unlike some of the people on here, I genuinely liked it. Not enough to beat it though... And ill explain why.
So first off you got your scrolls, they can range from good to bad. And honestly that isn't really the problem, the problem is the fact that they're completely random. There's a scroll that you can get that makes it to where you don't get bad scrolls but even then like i just said its still random. And "bad" to your personal play style can be subjective. If I remember correctly, I got that scroll that i just mentioned and the game still gave me a scroll that buffed me in some way, but made it to where I sprinted endlessly (I believe it just gave you more speed which only made the problem worse) , and with a few movement upgrades already obtained if made it impossible to do the platform levels.
second thing is the different characters that you can get, it doesn't really change the play styles at all. It doesn't even change the voice either. of course you get some characters that have move health from the get go, and possibly a better weapon as well. but still doesn't really change much at all in the long run. And depending on how you want to play, your going to use the same character every time, even with the added buffs that are given to the less played heros of your choice, it just doesn't seem worth it in the end.
PERSONAL STUFF
With all that said, I can also say that its not all bad. if changes were made to the scroll system i would go back to play this the rest of the way. because it was fun, it has a cute personality that i thought was silly and the gun play inst bad either. But considering they haven't updated this game in some time, i don't think that's going to happen. I don't want to be this person but gunfire reborn is what I wanted out of this game. but at the time Gunfire wasn't a thing, And thought this was my only option. And another thing, I honestly thought that the messed up scrolls were an accident from the developers but when i learned that they were a conscious decision..... That's when I just straight up stopped playing. The game isn't terrible, just really flawed. Buy it on sale i would say. Not a bad game if you can get get it for a few bucks that's for sure. Thanks for reading.
This little game has a high skill ceiling, but is easily picked up by most FPS fans. I love the rhetoric and snarky comments of the main character. The atmosphere of each room is really compelling, and the movement has a lot to offer. I think it is not only highly replayable, but one of the better indie titles I've ever had the privilege of playing.
Quite a good little roguelike. The thing keeping me around is the _insane_ movement speed cap and a very competent focus on the maneuvering and parkour. Some of the guns are just TOTALLY worthless, however, and I swear some of these negative scrolls are just totally awful. I DETEST a single scroll just ruining the entire run's fun. Solid Recommend on a small sale, Would maybe avoid full price.
random scrolls to upgrade throughout the entire game is such a terrible idea for a roguelike.
feels like it's just a full game of chance rather than being able to choose your own build to beat the pyramid.
so much unnecessary platforming.
the character has like <8 voicelines he repeats.
pharaoh mid pyramid boss battle was cool
but unfortunately the game felt pyraMID
the twitch interaction was kind of cool but chat ends up just bricking your build.
why would there even be a "delete all prior scrolls" upgrade?
not worth $19.95. maybe worth $1.99 it was on sale but insanely grindy.
surprisingly good

Very cool game, a predecessor to roboquest, i got it due to curiosity from the mentioned roboquest and Gunfire Reborn, a nice recommendation on sale.
The only bad thing it's that is somewhat janky and grindy
Played this game a lot on my switch before getting it on PC. It's absolutely fine! totally acceptable. It's a real good podcast game. Kind of feels like the world of Serious Sam 2, but it Enter the Gungeon.
Literally nothing special, but it's also a good little time! If you've played Zigguraut, it's literally that, but with better and more numerous guns.
Soft recommend. The core game play loop is fun, but the game needs more variety in enemies, level design, weapons and some much needed QoL changes. Get it if it's cheap.
Bruh.. If you're looking for a run and gun, look no further. Immortal Redneck is an absolute blast. The Scrolls and Powerups you find through out your run add a fairly good amount of variety. Im still finding new weapons that are really fun to play with. I picked this game up while it was on sale and it was absolutely worth it. And as a piece of advice, don't underestimate frogs...
I can recommend it. The weapons, and monsters feel different the rounds are not to long or to short. So overall a nice game.
Anti-stress game.Awesome with smooth movement
Yeah it kind of gives old serious sam vibes in a way. I really want a serious sam fps roguelike now. Decent enough for some casual shooting. The whole shooting stuff feels kind of weightless though, like lack the proper feedback after or during firing the guns. Pick up during sale
Roguelite BoomerShooter with an undead redneck protagonist.. need i say more?
I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this game at first but damn I’m glad I stuck with it. Never played a roguelite before and now I think I’ve found a new genre to love. It was challenging, frustrating but also lots of fun and hard to put down! Just one more run, I know I can beat it this time! I probably died 100+ times but that didn’t stop me from coming back for 55 hours before I finished it. I ended up using a combination of Sekhmet, the Goddess of Healing, and the cursed medallion to get through the third and final pyramid. The unlimited ammo and only one gun was definitely a gift and a curse and it made for a fun final run to beat the game. I hope to see more games like this!
