Dämmerlicht is a game based around the many worlds theory,
where the actions of the player create alternate universes and
allow you to experience each potential path the game world could take.
About
Dämmerlicht is mostly an adventure game.
The most important aspect of this game is that it is based on the many worlds theory
(an explanation of this theory follows).
The game is level based, meaning that you don't run around a big open world.
Instead you have a level select screen that represents the map of the game world,
and the various worlds that your choices create.
Each level takes place in a selected area (Your house, the village, a forest...)
and possesses many possible outcomes that are unlocked by doing different actions.
Short example:
You could join the king, unlocking a level which is the universe where our hero joins the king.
Then you could attempt this level again but instead kill the king, unlocking a new level which
is a completely different universe than the previous one since in this universe, the king is dead.
Not every single action in the game has a different outcome.
but the player has the option to attempt to unlock every possible outcome of this world.
Each path will be different and in each one of those, the player will experience different things:
pure combat, love story, research, treason, or even all at once!
Things to expect from the game:
- Between 1 to 4 hours of gameplay(depending on how long it takes the player to find each endings)
- 19 playable levels that unlocks a total of 25 endings (some similar other completely different)
- Diversified dialogues through a nice dialogue system
- Interesting, simple combat system, and different enemy types.
- No procedural generation--every single thing in the game is carefully placed
- A story-rich game
Things you won't get in this game:
- This is by no mean a roguelike or an rpg
- No procedural generation

Story
Dämmerlicht takes place in a medieval fantasy inspired universe
where strangely everything is named after some sort of a tableware.
The Kingdom of the Small Cup is the smallest kingdom to be known in the Table World.
Even if the Small Cup is lacking the military force of the Butcher's Knife Kingdom, or the
economic power of the Silverware Kingdom, it lives fairly in peace providing well being to all its inhabitants.
Following strange phenomenon and a spontaneous event, the Table World saw itself changed.
This event started to cause frenzy among the inhabitants of this world,
as well as increase the relentless behavior of monsters who in
the past weren't aggressive unless provoked.
Consecutively, the tension started to rise all around the Table World.
Kingdoms started to suspect each other, while others tried
to solve this problem together. The royalty aren't the only affected,
however, as some people see their family and friends fall into insanity
and begin doubt the rulers above them.

Unfortunately the game is no where near EA release even. The controls are wonky and when you follow the instructions just as they say you still die immediately because the response time is so laggy. Buyer beware.
Honestly, if this game was even double it's current price, I wouldn't reccomend it. The grammar is consistently crappy, the combat is pretty lacklustre, and the multiple worlds concept is kind of wasted, in my opinion. What IS here is just about good enough, though. It's got some fairly interesting missions, there's some difficult levels here and there to actually give you a slightly hard time, and some of the dialogue is pretty funny. If it's on sale, then I would definetly reccomend you pick this one up. Just don't set your hopes too high.
With the way the description talks about the many worlds theory, I was expecting a game with way more options than what I received.
This is an odd duck. It is cute, fun, simple, and reminds me of an 8-bit rendering of text adventures. Which I suppose is what it is. It is a bit clunky both in English translation and mechanics, but it is fun and worth .99. It does smack of a rushed release and enthusiatic devs with minimal game planning experience. But hey, it was less than $1 and it was cute as a button. I think the music is what kept me playing. Like old-timey text adventures the way to unlock different endings is sometimes not at all obvious. Frustratingly so. But, it seems to work meaning you can unlock the various endings if you can figure out what the heck you're supposed to do next.
I want to give it a sideways thumb. Thumbs down is too harsh, but I can't stongly recommend a thumbs up... ah screw it. Thumbs up it is. I've paid more playing Spy Hunter in the arcade and this is more fun. Thumbs up it is.
This game is rather intresting, very minimal but also very catchy (+). The story is based on the player's choice's and its intresting really(+). not much more than a sword enemies and allies, but i suppose is a good thing because its more a story based game, and the gameplay is eazy and simple (+)
the only flaw that i have found is that the dialogue is vague (-) and its confusing at first. There are wierd result from an certain action.
The game is overall intresting and fun it earns and 3/4 from me.
If the developer is still alive, please give us a guide, because it's a bit confusing.
I would write a positive review, since i really enjoyed this game. The problem is that several of the dialogue boxes are bugged, so they can't be clicked. Also, quitting and reentering the game, even after saving, puts you back at level 1 with nothing. The grammar in this game is also pretty poor
Very Hesitant Positive. There are several grammar issues (tough instead of though, poor wording in sentences, etc) that make me feel this wasn't originally made in English.
However, the branching is neat...but it is the kind of game that almost NEEDS Achievements to really warrant trying to explore each and every branching path.
+Cute little pixel game with easy mechanics
+Good price point
+Each level shows how many branching paths, so you aren't spending forever trying to figure out how many you have left
+While poorly written at times (grammar) it's a neat little story that is playing out
-Seems Short. I've played for only 15 minutes and not only have a feel for the game, but have unlocked about 10 levels and done all their subsequent branches to completion (save the ones moving the story forward)
-The Grammar and word choice is really, really bad sometimes. Either ESL, or someone who didn't have a proofreader. It's not a full deal breaker for me, but it can be for others
-No Achievements. While I know this may not matter to some, for the type of game this is, they would almost enhance it ten-fold; a reason to go back and find the branches, which may not be all that interesting on their own.
-Repetitive. You have to go back to the levels and replay them, but there's no way to skip past text so it can be a bit of a slough.
TLDR: Decent game, good price, not the best grammar.
