I finished this game today after playing for about a week consistently. What once felt like " uh, this will take an eternity to complete the final mission " became " wow , this was/is such an amazing journey "
This is my top two AC Games along with Black Flag. This game is the most balanced of the the new styles of AC games, the map is just the right size, it aesthetic and design is breath taking. the leveling system is good not to easy or grinding, you can play the game with out of side quest but they are fun. the combat was fluid required you to learn fighting patterns, when to dodge, block or parry. the story was good and engaging it was longer than fps but not 60 hours plus which was good. The DLC followed the same pattern would recommend picking them up as well.
UBISOFTCONNET IS GARBGEEEEEE, ALWAYS SIGNING ME out, gOD FROBID u PUT ur Passsword in wrng 1 time now ur account is compromised u HAVE TO CHANGE UR PW OR UR JUS LOCKED OUT ALL UR SHIT, other the that game is great one of the better rpgs in the series, fun game play-wat ever story. ubisoftconnect is jus a nightmare. barley worth the head ache
Assassin’s Creed Origins is a deep-dive into a stunning era of ancient Egypt, with a well dsign of the culture, genuine characters.
The first assassin game to implement RPG mechanic, and it´s quite awesome, in some reviews you hear about some bugs I personally just found a little and minor ones.
One best assassins creed ever made, you can even feel the heat of the desert in you.
Enjoy this beauty!
Game itself is very optimized, very appealing to eyes, mechanics are fine but not as good as Odyssay. I hated the story, and tthe fact that i can't save it manualy, But still, i did like it the graphics. i can say it looks much better than Mirage from 2024.
I only got this for the Ancient Egypt Discovery Tour and never played the actual game. It was worth it.

I really wanted to play the game and i really wanted to enjoy it but guess what? I can't
The game either freezes or crashing after the first cutscene
CPU-AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz
GPU-GeForce RTX 4070 Super Ghost 12 GB
RAM-Viper Venom 32 GB DDR5
These are my specs so i don't think i have a issue running this game
From what I've read on the internet there is a issue with Windows 11 but I couldn't find a fix
I'm not a big fan of AC, but i really wanted to play this one because of the location and environment. If there is anyone that know how to fix this, please leave a comment how to fix this. Thank you guys.
The world looks beautiful, I'll give them that. But the actual game play is clunky, repetitive, and overall annoying. I didn't realize how bad it is until I switched to other games for awhile and compared the differences.
good.
The scenery and architecture of ancient Egypt are all within sight.
The disadvantage is that the enemy cannot be easily assassinated
Cringe dialogues and trash combat system
The narrative is painfully slow and lacks depth, failing to be interesting despite the rich historical setting.
Main character is too one dimensional revenge trope and you as a player can’t change that in any way, making his actions somehow feel hollow and forgettable.
It doesn't help that the emotional impact of significant events, such as character deaths, is undermined by poor cutscene direction and execution.
Side characters are underdeveloped, often reduced to repetitive quest-givers with no meaningful arcs, although many of them have a potential to be very interesting.
Repetitive melee mechanics usually devolve into mindless button-mashing or bow spam until you or all enemies are dead, usually the latter.
To be fair, there might be an amazing twist in the end which makes it all worth it. I could not complete the game, as it just turned into a never-ending tedious grind towards the next main objective, which makes me really sad, honestly, as the world it is set in is one of my favorite periods in human history.
The world is massive, the story hits hard, and exploring ancient Egypt never gets old. Combat feels great unless you count leveling. (Thanks level 45 boost) Only downside? That 50 silica grind for 100% achievements. Spent more time raiding tombs for shiny rocks than actually being an assassin. But hey, totally worth it… I think. Would parkour up pyramids and question my life choices again.
Worthwhile game. Sadly, you have to contend with the Ubisoft launcher, which likes to hold your games hostage from time to time, which is rage inducing, especially in today's fast paced world where your free time can be very very limited. Happened today, happened before, will surely happen again down the road. Before you start looking through the internet for a fix, and this is for any Ubisoft title, I would recommend that you see if the service itself is down, because if that is the case, the work arounds will not work for you, and you'll be tampering with a program that is already unreliable.
That out of the way, yeah, I do recommend the playthrough of this game. I've played this and Mirage, and if you're looking for a desert romp, I'd say this one beats out Mirage for sure. The only thing Mirage has going for it over this one is the Stealth gameplay really, as the combat in that title is a snooze fest. This one's combat is at least engaging enough, and the story is FAR superior.
The RPG titles get a lot of hate, but I will say this one isn't as bloated as Odyssey or Valhalla. Now, this isn't a bother to me at all personally, in fact, I don't like using the term bloated at all. If you want to give me a bigger world to romp, please do, I'll take it for the sights alone, which these RPG games give you tons of. But It is still pretty vast, but not to the degree of the other games. Really it's a win win there, because you still have a varied, beautiful landscape to load into after the story is over, but it's not so large it'll take you an insane amount of time to complete it. I'd also say, if you're on the fence about trying these bigger open world games in the AC universe, I'd try to go into it with the mentality of watching a TV Show over just popping in a movie. You got to go into it knowing you're not going to complete it in a sitting, or two, it's going to be a time investment, not a couple hour romp through the park.
The lands of Egypt are drop dead gorgeous. You got desert, oasis, mountains, valleys, the touch of the greek and roman world around you. You can see a mirage as you're riding out through the desert. See a sand storm roll in on you from a mountain. Every day can offer a wonderful sunset, and every night is vibrant and mysterious.
Really enjoy the soundscape in this game. The sounds, the soundtrack, are very immersive.
Bayek and Aya are wonderful characters. They have more fire, ire, lust, and love than most other AC protagonists. Their story is tragic, but their resolve is solid, and you feel like their meant to change the world, not be broken by it.
The weapons and abilities in the game are solid. To me, the ability system feels more organic than in Odyssey or Valhalla (not knocking them. I enjoyed these games.), and by that i mean rather than setting abilities on a wheel, it's really just soft upgrades to what you've already had access to. You can block, cool, well now you can block and push them back at the right time. Simple evolution of core abilities. I do think it's funny that here in Origins, you can use a spear and a shield, but in Odyssey, you can't have a shield. Did they even watch 300 lol?
I personally feel that this title out of the RPG's has the second best parkour. I got to give first place to Mirage here. It's not grand. You can't do anything too crazy, but there are sections in this world that at least do let you use it in a more entertaining fashion. This is very slim in Odyssey, and slimmer still in Valhalla, so I am thankful for it in this game, but again, it's still a very simple system, and there is A LOT of open ground to cover, you'll have a few play grounds, but that's it.
It's not perfect. The traversal can be really jank at times, way more so than in the other RPG titles. It's not always so, but when it hits, it's like it wants to hit rather hard. Clipping through rock, falling and hovering in place rather than landing, phasing through a bit of cover, ect, ect, basic game bugs that are unavoidable, but seem less prevelant in Odyssey or Valhalla. The AI is pretty brain dead most of the time, challenge more so coming by their level. While you do have some ship combat it's only sections, and they are quite short. If you don't care about the ship warfare, then you're losing nothing here. The most irksome thing I've found is how often you're doing a mission, a character is talking, and a cutscene pops up and cuts them off lol. It just happens A LOT. If you're interested in what someone is saying in this game, you might want to stop, go real slow, and listen to them before trudging ahead to the next objective, or you will miss it.
So yeah, very mild complaints, other than the launcher itself, which is a bane to gamers everywhere. Hope one day Ubisoft gets smart and lets us take it off our computers, or at the very least fixes it to where we can play what we paid for, when we want to play it.
The game seems pretty cool, if I could play it more than half the time I'd probably have a lot more praise for it. The Ubisoft Connect client is unreliable and very often is unable to sync achievements and tells me to try again later and is unable to allow me to play the game. It's too bad Ubisoft won't simply allow Steam to handle the game and forces us into the third party Ubisoft Client, what a waste of a perfectly good game.
really good game but unfortunately i can't recommended because of f****** piece of sheet ubisoft connect software , u can't even play game offline , ubisoft services is currently unavailable please try again yepp ,now i know why people pirate the games, i dont understand how steam allowed them to have external game launcher integrated inside of steam .its not user friendly at all , because imagine if this company somehow disappear over night which is very possible, u wouldn't be able to play games that you own (servicers not available please try again) NOT BUYING ANYTHING MORE FROM THEM AGAIN!!!
Accidentally going to the store interface while in the character menu is such a frustration. Needing Ubisoft Connect to play a single player game another frustration. Trying to connect during startup so long, I'm frustrated. Not going to buy another Ubisoft product in the future if this is their formula. Shame, kinda wanted to play Shadows.
Stay your blade from the flesh of the innocent. Hide in plain sight. Never compromise the Brotherhood. Nothing is true, everything is permitted.

AC Origins is one of the better entries into the AC franchise in the past ten years or so, and unlike Odyssey and Valhalla that followed, focused on its story and eventual tie-ins into the Hidden Ones, with as the name implies, the real origins of the Hidden Ones as a group, what would later become the Assassin’s Brotherhood.
Bayek is a really interesting character and has so much depth to him, the poor guy works through so much heartbreak but throughout his time through Egypt comes to terms with a lot, and truly finds his way in the world. Him and Aya I think have one of the most intriguing and heartbreaking dynamics in all of AC, they play really well off each other and while I hate how their story ends, I can respect it. As a Roman fanboy I did also enjoy seeing Caesar and the ever lovely Cleopatra take the stage in part of the story, and honestly this game just made me want a proper AC: Rome someday (Either set during Caesar’s rise to the throne, or Octavian's Triumvirate), though I doubt we’ll get one.
Sadly Origins does introduce the modern day protagonist of Layla, perhaps the most annoying of the AC protagonists too date, and sadly we’re stuck with her for two more games after this one. I also don’t enjoy the Origin save system, which is purely done on autosaves, you can’t make a manual save at all. Thankfully they change this from Odyssey onwards, but it’s annoying.
Overall I have very much enjoyed playing through Origins here on the PC, I first 100%ed it back on the Xbox when it released, and have fallen in love with a beautiful world, fantastic characters and an interesting story-line all over again. I know you have the skills still in you Ubi, don’t let us down.
It's not a horrible game. As others have said, standing on its own I could see why people would appreciate it, but it's not really an AC game. There are great visuals, but the game-play, story and open-world are actually pretty shallow. I've yet to feel truly immersed in this game. After even less than an hour of playing it begins to feel like a boring chore. The places/cities are void and repetitive. NPCs are distant and uninteresting. There's a real lack of any adventure and discovery.
The cats and other animal encounters (crocs, hippos, lions, etc) are pretty cool.
Assassin's Creed Origins took a new vector for the development of the franchise. Some gamers claim it spoiled the series; others say it brought it to a whole new level. In my opinion, neither is completely true.
Pros:
- The large, detailed, various map: Alexandria, Memphis, Giza, and a bunch of other places to visit: great Nile, lakes, deserts, mountains, pyramids, tombs. The process of exploration is the best the game has to offer.
- A superb depiction of the various conflicts between the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. Different areas of the map are under the control of different factions; there is a lot of drama about issues such as xenophobia, slavery, etc.
- Side quests. They are neither good nor bad, mostly average in quality. But definitely better than in most of the previous games in the series.
- The graphics. Some animations are too abrupt (mounting a horse/a camel, for example), but overall the graphics feel natural; it helps to create the believable, immersive world.
- Weapons, shields, clothes. There are a lot in all categories; collecting legendary items is a nice addition to the exploration.
Cons:
- The main storyline is quite short and has no artistic value at all. The plot, the direction, and the characters are far worse than in most previous games of the series.
- Finishing the map becomes really boring because it is filled with a few types of typical activities: killing dangerous animals, capturing outposts, freeing prisoners of the oppressive regime, etc. Most of the playthrough time is dedicated to it.
- The physics. Driving horses and camels is implemented okay, but the chariots are almost uncontrollable. I suppose they took the physics of the carriages from Syndicate but somehow made it worse.
- The fighting system. One of the worst in the series. It is a great feature to be able to manually (middle mouse button) target or untarget enemies, but controls are awkward, especially dodging. The complex geometry of battles (anyone is able to climb everywhere) also bitters the experience, producing many AI bugs. All the bosses (except Roman war elephants) can be beaten by just consecutively pressing dodge and hit buttons.
- The level system. It is quite frustrating seeing enemies with skull level (almost unbeatable, especially on the Nightmare difficulty) in the beginning of the game.
- Unnecessary storyline in modern times. I don't really understand why the devs still continue it. Thank God, there are no Abstergo buildings to infiltrate or computers to hack for 100% achievements.
- The in-game purchases in the single-player game. I don't need to explain it, right?
Overall, Assassin's Creed Origins delivers a unique experience since Egypt is a country with a long and great history, but I'm sure I will never play this game again because of its tiring repetitiveness.
Why is there no 'Mixed' option in Steam. And why are all latest Ubi games so brain dead in nature. AC Origins and AC Odyssey are the best platform for virtual tour of Egypt and Greece respectively but beyond that, there is padding and only padding. No meaningful content in sight (just bits of story pieces here and there. Huh.)
500 rupay barbaad BC
+ rainbow unicorn
+ good graphics
+ pyramids excavation was somehow interesting
+/- some nice dialogue, but shallow
- the most bad optimized game i have ever played for over 30 years (had to fix hours with communtiy patches, gpu console and tricks)
- very bad audio (characters sound like speaking through a hall or a pole)
- clunky unoptimized buggy and very bad combat
- enemy KI very bad and not responsive, as expected from an Ubish*t game
- very buggy movement and physics
- wacky physiques
- after years not ooptimzed gameplay and gaming performance
- tutorial vanish faster then light
- some tutorial for some action are needed, nothing here i am afraid
- too many quests, mostly are very weak, simple and boring not a work from an AAA studio
- main quest predictable, pretty much lackluster, shallow, purposeless, boring and neglectable
- buggy npcs (double audio, glitching, weird behaviour, not polished etc.)
- open world is pretty much a buggy disaster
- open world leaves some things to be desired (ppl tend to watch you kill as if nothing happend, corpses lying around and its pretty normal for the ppl etc.)
- no challenge at normal levels, which is sad
- buggy assassination skill (targets when they turn they heads or make a slight body movement, they deactivate the assassination option)
- putting a crossover in a game, deserve several punishment, its confusing and unnecessary
- highly pre-woke setting, you can see that some things were still in the makes before today, very dangerous
- also the game setting is pretty rassistic and promotes terrorism on a hardcore level
- game pushes certain ideology idea on you (like brainwashing)
- Ubisoft mal ware connect software, drains performance and overall shit
- mostly a payer game which was expensive ones with expensive shop prices
- lazy armor and weapon design. you want better design? pay for it!
- the open world feels like an empty, cheap china copy of the great and OP openworld which: The Witcher 3 delivers
- long drawn open world = unneccessary
- gameplay is mostly sad and boring, stretches long intuitive side quest over a large margin of boring and lazy designed ideas
- too many weapon/armor and skill systems to confuse the player
- a lot of crashes and stutters which persist even if mods are installed
- lazy open world design (npcs can get killed easily, even your quest giver)
- music often just butchered
- unbalanced voices, bgm and music
- controls are mostly not responding, because of your problems with 4k and therefore following input lag
- also button remapping is a mess
- weapons dont respond and connect attacks often
- markers on maps are buggy
- as well as patchfinding is a horrible mess
- repetitive gameplay and grinding
- camera focus problems while sequence, tend to go sometimes blurry
- unattractive gameplay, sucky behaviour
- arena event rewards just suck
- saves screenshots somewhere but not on steamfolder, well done sh**soft
- ending rushed and uninnovative, greatest fail I have ever seen.
Conclusion:
Please Ubisoft stop making sh*t games or just withdraw from the gamemarket. Its embarassing! Witcher 3 was an improvement, AC with its 1 million installments was not an improvement. Shown here, low quality overall except the graphics. There were only bad points about this game. Quality is a complete sh*t disaster. Good graphics but nothing more and even the good graphics are very buggy. Pretty much a disappointment in all departments. You had years to to repair the problems with High PC settings and you pretty much failed Ubisoft. Poorly ripped of gameplay and skills from other main franchises like: Mordor, Witcher 3 and others. The worst shi*** game I have played so far the last 35 years. It is so bad it doesnt even deserve 0 Points. Shame on you! Wasted 60 hours in my life for this failure! I spared the dlc, because I dont wanna play a boring longdrawn continuation.
Score: 0 Points from 100
13/10 which madman puts cake in a jar?
13/10 lol at FF15 collab
1337/10 pretty much cheap copy of other franchise
the game might be good, i dont know, it wont boot up and just keeps crashing whenever i attempt to play it. Ubisoft cant do their job and make one good game i guess.
the setting is NUTS, seeing the origin story of the assassins is really cool, bayek is one of the best protaginst in the series, i prefer the classic climbing and combat system but it isnt too bad
overall definitely the best of the new ac games
All I want is to open this SINGLE PLAYER OFFLINE game and play to unwind after a day's work yet its been riddled with nothing but Ubisoft Connect "synchronisation" errors for the past 2 days. Why the f"ck do I even need this sh1tty Ubisoft Connect for the game to open properly anyway? Isn't this what Steam & the game itself are for? It's a single-player offline game that I paid money for and you're preventing me to play it properly without your cash-grab connecting app cause you wanna up-sell your dogsh1t pixels. F"ck you and your Ubisoft Connect and f"ck your company! May you be rendered to the oblivion you deserve!
Ubisoft sucks. being forced to use their client is stupid. needing internet to play a single player offline game is insane.
closest you can get to an open world rpg in this style set in rome, so just for that its gud game. Bayek is also easily the best ac protagonist they've written, although I do love Arno. overall: thumbs up
The game is stunning, the atmosphere is amazing...
Yet the story and the RPG elements kinda ruined it.
Did not finish the game, maybe one day, idk
All modern gaming is so weird combat system early just fighting 3 hyenas block doesn't work even lock on target and before my char turns around. Then another attacks me from back already. Weirdest things, weird things happened i cannot put into words even. All moderns games are WTF that i don't even believe what i am seeing. Weirdest game ever!
THere is no even sprint in the game WTF
Good stuff! Nice graphic, interesting areas. Very cool stuff is virtual tours about egiptian life and other stuff.
such good graphics and so much content but its a eygpt rpg not an ac game
Nice, time-consuming adventure. Views are beautiful and completing the game at 100% was a pleasure for me. There are many variarious types of bows and melee weapons as well as skins for horse and Bayek.
Although I'm not a fan of combat here, a big minus was the poor soundtrack, even when i changed the music freqency to high, there were only a few songs.
I'm surprised how well Ubisoft prepared and presented ancient Egyptian history - worth to play.
"After completing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, this 'game' feels like a badly made flash game. You can tell that most of the 'new' (and totally not ripped off from Shadow of War) skills and fighting styles are lackluster, while the combat feels worse than playing Skyrim on a toaster." I always hated Assassin’s Creed, but Odyssey changed my mind. Now this game feels just like Pokémon—unoriginal and bland, filled with cutscenes after loading screens, followed by more cutscenes, slow escort missions, and yet another cutscene And there’s always this aftertaste of upper management messing with the game. You can tell they’re too scared to take risks liek a PROPER FUKIGN SKILL TREE
for being the first stab at the RPG elements its the best in my opinion besides combat. will forever miss the original AC formula though. still pretty solid. Bayeks an amazing character. if you like revenge stories this should be ur cup of tea if u focus story
Picked this up for ~$8 during the winter sale (including both DLCs), and I have to say it was an absolute steal.
Thoroughly enjoyed this game, especially the exploration. The world is stunning and full of interesting locations to discover. Combat is satisfying, love the protagonist, and the story is pretty solid, although at times it felt a bit rushed at key moments.
It's been a long time since I played on AC game, so I'm not sure what it's been like in previous titles, but the stealth aspect of the game felt a bit inconsistent at times. I feel like sometimes I was spotted when clearly hidden, and then at other times the enemies seemed to be blindfolded.
Senu, for me, was a great addition. I loved flying around and taking in the landscape. Sometimes it trivialised bandit camps, but for the large fort areas I feel it was really necessary due to the stealth mechanics - knowing where enemies were at all times made it possible to actually remain in the shadows.
There's also a discovery mode which allows you to take tours of ancient Egypt, covering lots of topics from pyramid building to daily life on the Nile which is really a cool feature to add and shows how much the devs respect the history and culture they're portraying in game.
Ubisoft gets a lot of hate online nowadays, but you've got to give them credit for the fantastic titles they've released over the years. Look forward to playing another AC in the future - either Odyssey or Valhalla, since they apparently follow the same format.
Highly recommended for people who love exploring, mystery, sneaking around, and multiple ways to approach combat.
This is the worst kind of open world.
Fast travel is severely limited, and exploration is actively punished due to the following reasons:
- clearing something without the associated quest means you'll have to run there again later when you find the right quest.
- quest markers are only existant for your active quest, making it impossible to work on multiple quests at once.
- stuff you cleared will respawn on fast travel, making it literally pointless to do so without associated quest.
- quest design is literally horrible. It makes you run back and forth multiple times for no reason.
The game is pretty, but thats about it.
The story is meh, killing without reason will get you anywhere. Someone stole from you? Now you have to kill them.
Someone was drunk and did something wrong? Better kill them too.
Meanwhile you're the hero to everyone, while killing the whole youth of egypt twice over. Stealth play is not encouraged or even an option half the time.
There are also still some bugs even years after release. For example, using the eagle, one of the few cool features sometimes makes commanders of camps respawn or disappear.
And then there is the 'have a microtransaction shop in your singleplayer' thing.
Overall its just a bad experience, for me at least.
Disaster of a game
Assassin's Creed Origins was Ubisoft's attempt at rebooting the AC franchise. After pumping out games on an yearly basis they decided to take some time off and bring us something fresh. I went into this game with an open mind, being a fan of the original Assassin's Creed entries I wanted to see how the new ones feel and play. After playing for over 70 hours and basically completing every single task I can definitively say that this is the worst Assassin's Creed game I've ever played and one of the worst RPG games as well. Unfortunately this is also the staple of modern Ubisoft.
Sequence I: The Open World
The Open World is a favorite of Ubisoft these days. Making an absolutely gigantic map where players can lose hours walking around and taking in the sights. Origins is the first game that started this awful trend. Our playground here is Ancient Egypt, an absolutely fantastic setting that looks incredible and is a blessing for photo mode enthusiasts. From the Pyramids of Giza to Alexandria and everything else you can think of, this game has it all. So why is this world awful to me? It's simple, there is close to nothing of interest to do. We'll get to the mission design in a bit but this formula is what completely killed the AC franchise in recent years. Take Assassin's Creed Brotherhood for example, you are confined to Rome. It's not a big map but has enough content to make it memorable while never feeling like a chore to explore. Egypt, as beautiful as it is, felt like an empty void.
Sequence II: The Redesign
Ubisoft wanted to make Origins feel different. People were sick of new Assassin's Creed games each year with little to no changes between them. Then Origins was released as a soft reboot, which changed almost every aspect of what made the series iconic. Assassin's Creed is an RPG now... for whatever reason. To me this change was nonsensical and it made me dislike the game even more. The combat was also redesigned to give it a more RPG-ey vibe. You have to dogde, roll and block with a shield to get through fights. The flair of the series was the powerful and cinematic combat. You could go 20 in 1 and beat everyone with counter-attack finishers, one of the most satisfying things you can do. Speaking of cinematics and gameplay, big scripted moments and set pieces are nowhere to be found, everything just happens in the open world and apart from few special boss fights, there's nothing remotely unique. Parkour also feels like a major downgrade from previous entries. Traversal is painfully slow, especially for such an enormous map. There is no sprinting option, it's either just slow walking or a toggle for "running", which is more like jogging.
Sequence III: Mission Design
Oh boy, here is where things get juicy. The absolutely WORST part of Assassin's Creed Origins. The mission design is horrible, there's no other way I can put it. Every single mission, apart from very, VERY rare exceptions, is a blatant copy of the previous one. Everything is just - go and find this person/item, it's not here, check the nearby camp/stronghold. Kill an enemy there, get the item/information, move on. Main quests, when all is said and done, feel like slightly upgraded side quests. Side quests themselves are bland and really offer nothing of value. It's one big mess of ideas, poorly stitched together with little cohesion. I remember during the marketing campaign Ubisoft described quests as memorable and emotional. Sadly a shockingly small number of them felt memorable or even remotely interesting to me. If you think that this is the worst part of Origins, however, you are dead wrong. Because AC is an RPG series now, every single quest requires you to reach a certain character level. Go underleveled and it's an insta-death or go overpowered and it's a complete cakewalk. To grind those levels, however, you'll have to do side activities and quests, which are also terrible and eat up a huge amount of time. That's the reason this game lasts as long as it does, you have to go through a constant, boring and uninspired, grind. Once you finally get to that main quest prepare to do more of the same filler until you assassinate your target and move on.
Sequence IV: Side Content and DLCs
In the beginning I mentioned the map of Ancient Egypt feeling empty with nothing to do. Well that's true, there's nothing meaningful to do. Boot up the game and you'll see that everywhere you go look there's a small question mark on the map, indicating an open world side activity. There's over 400 of those in total, but there's really only 5 or 6 variations to them. You are either going to stumble upon yet another military fort, the same one copy/pasted everywhere on the map, or you might reach a treasure location. Sometimes you'll find an animal lair where you'll have to kill the king animal but that's about all you'll do. Over FOUR HUNDRED TIMES! The same boring activity, multiplied all over the map for the sake of having content. This was not interesting, not rewarding and not fun in the slightest. The only thing that kept me going was knowing I have one less of these garbage activities to do. There are a few other things, such as ancient tombs, which are slightly more interesting but after doing a few of them you'll also have enough. I had hoped the two major DLCs for the game will at least offer something more unique, like a short and more cinematic story, but no, it's the same repetitive garbage from the main game splattered onto the DLC maps as well.
Sequence V: Story
Assassin's Creed Origins has a decent enough story. While it's not my favorite in the series, it's also not my least favorite. The origins of the Creed were laid out and there was a satisfying conclusion and bridge to the older titles. If I were to judge the game only based on the narrative it will get a recommendation, but that's not possible when the rest of the package is a stinker. The Hidden Ones and Curse of Pharaohs DLCs also have their own separate stories, which are fun enough, but again they are part of the larger mess.
Sequence VI: Ubisoft's Greed
Imagine issuing a patch for a 6+ years old game and removing a major source for Gear items. Oh right, that's what Ubisoft did when they removed the Heka chests from Origins in a 2023 patch. Want to get some unique legendary items and skins for your character? Buy them from the in-game store. That's right, a microtransactions store in a triple A game. The shop even has a category called time savers, you can pay real money to get crafting resources to speed up your upgrades. Before someone gets offended I should clear up that you can complete the game and do everything without ever using microtransactions, but the fact they exist and the fact that the game was designed around them is a complete joke. Know what else is a complete joke, Ubisoft's outrageous DRM practices! This seven year old stinker still has a combination of Denuvo, Ubisoft's own DRM and god knows what else. This hogs resources like crazy and introduces poorer performance for all of their games. Every game of theirs is a major commercial flop and they deserve all the bad press they've been getting.
Sequence VII: Conclusion
Assassin's Creed Origins is a disaster! I cannot recommend it especially as someone who's been playing AC from the beginning. It is NEITHER a good AC game nor a good RPG game. The fact it has over 85% positive reviews on Steam is puzzling to me. Have these people not played the previous games in the franchise? Or is this really the quality gamers are happy with these days? Do NOT purchase this game or anything made by Ubisoft, let them dig their own hole as they are already doing. If you are looking for a good AC game, pirate the originals or if you want a good RPG, buy something like The Witcher 3, it will be a much better use of your time than this!
While it was a bit of a struggle to try and find out why this game would crash all the time for me, just capping your FPS between 60-100 FPS seems to get the job done, you may still crash from time to time however. That and some fps drops during cutscenes are the only problems I ran into. Besides that, game runs flawlessly.
Its not fair to compare Origins to any AC games that came before, due to how different they are in nature, but this game has no right being this good. It easily ranks among the best AC games ever made, despite how different it may be to the previous entries. Egypt is genuinely an incredible map, probably the best one in all of the AC games, and not only is it fun to traverse and explore, but landmarks like Alexandria make you feel like you are inside of a painting. The story is very good too, this time we experience the creation of the Assassin brotherhood under the name of the hidden ones. Bayek is one of the most likable protagonists EVER in the entire franchise, and his character is further enhanced thanks to an incredible performance by voice actor Abubakar Salim. The rest of the characters are good too, but some of them just pop in and out of the story randomly which really doesn't help me care about them too much. Gameplay-wise, problems arise. Stealth and parkour have been butchered, it was a public execution. At least combat makes up for this in a way by being a lot more in depth than either stealth or parkour, but its a shame to see AC go further away from its roots. If you go into Origins expecting a good Assassin experience, forget it. What you WILL get is a very good, solid, exploration based action rpg.
DLCs are ok. Just like the base game The Hidden Ones and Curse of the Pharaohs are both set in breathtaking environments but all they really do is expand the story, not much else. More Bayek is a good excuse to me. Deluxe pack comes with a bonus mission, so does the season pass. Horus and Roman Centurion packs are all cosmetics.
9/10
In general it was okay. I LOVE the Egypt concept open world and story, just do not play it right after another AC like Odyssey. I finished Odyssey and right after that played Origins and it was BORING, i mean... same mechanism and repetitive side quests, but after couple of months gave it another try and it was refreshing. also Ubisoft?... ah. I have lots of problems with the launcher.
"Assassin's Creed Origins is a masterpiece! The game's vast, beautifully crafted world of Ancient Egypt is a joy to explore. The combat is intense and satisfying, and the story is both personal and epic. A must-play for fans of open-world adventures!" 9.5/10
I'm a long time player of the AC series (only haven't played the very first AC game up to Origins) and only 1 hour in, I barely have any interest in finishing this game. It feels lazy and unfinished when compared to previous games. I don't ever post steam reviews but I was so disappointed by this latest instalment, I felt compelled to so.
Sure it's playable but when compared to other games out there of similar genres and release dates, it doesn't hold up. If this was a small independent game I'd picked up cheap then I might be pleasantly surprised but for a large Ubisoft title it's an embarrassment. I can only feel sorry for the devs who presumably were not given the time or resources they would have liked to actually polish this game to an acceptable standard.
In terms of specifics, here's what I've noticed an hour in:
-Combat: In general combat feels very lazy. Yes there's a few animations here and there but otherwise your weapon is just hitting what may as well be a large cube with no feeling of actually fighting the enemy in front of you. Similarly with the bow, when arrows hit animals, there's no satisfying contact of the arrow, just a general hit marker and the animal crumples to the ground.
-Graphical glitches:
First I noticed the camel leg movements make no attempt to match the ground they are standing on when on uneven terrain.
When my character moves back and forth, I initially glide across the ground for half a second before my legs begin moving.
During a cutscene, a scorpion crawled up into mid-air (very visibly in the foreground-i.e. I wasn't trying to look for issues).
When entering a cave with a breeze, some loose fabric on my clothing starting dancing around everywhere, including into the character model, with a life of its own.
Not exactly graphics maybe but was very disappointed early on to see that I can essentially climb anything (even a plain stone surface) by just holding a button. Half the fun of the older titles was finding your route up/around/across things, looking for those small cracks/ledges etc. to use, all built carefully into the environment. Even if they were a little convenient, they looked natural. Now it seems I can just climb anything, handholds or not.
-Voices/quests: Although admittedly only a few quests into the game, I am utterly uninspired. Most lines are delivered flatly as if they have no relation to the conversation they are part of. Characters who are meant to be old friends sound like they're reading a script for the first time.
-AI: I read good things in other reviews and honestly haven't experienced this aspect fully yet but couldn't not mention that, when riding back into town after the opening mission, my companion was talking about how he protects the citizens from the oppressive guards, while at the same time trampling any of them that got in his way.
-Equipment and levelling: This one is just personal preference but what is the point of having level locked quests/areas/progression in an open world game? Surely that takes away most of the fun of exploring where you like and finding your own way? I am also not looking forward to scouring the stats of half the weapons I come across just to see if they are an improvement or not.
-Controls: Again, personal preference but the controls feel very un-intuitive to me. To mention a few:
-The instinct to sprint and instead pulling out my shield.
-Awkward key binds for descending (and so many conflicts when I try to change them that I can't find a better solution).
-Holding v to search for loot every 5 seconds because it barely persists.
-As mentioned above, having one button to climb anything is, in my opinion, a backwards addition to the franchise.
I will try controller and see if that is any better.
To conclude, yes I have only played an hour and I sincerely do hope I start enjoying the game more. If I do, I will come back and edit this review. For now though, all I can say is that I'm glad I got this game in a sale. If I had paid full price, I would absolutely be seeking a refund.
I had been looking forward to getting back to the next AC game (I'm a little behind, yes) and instead I found myself having to try and look past a whole load of issues to even begin to enjoy playing the game.
Ubisoft surprises me, they can rip off Metal Gear Solid 5, Dark Souls, and the Witcher 3 and combine them to make this game, but despite ripping off three universally loved games the end result is this bland, grindy slop of a game with terrible, repetitive skillless and weightless combat, boring and brainless parkour that involves holding A to climb anything you want, and a story that doesn't even attempt to grab you.
I'm honestly shocked that this game and the subsequent reboot sequels have done as well as they have after playing this for even a couple hours. It does make me appreciate the aforementioned games that this game obviously draws inspiration from for not only doing it first, but also doing it much better.
I lost my save game when switching from Ubisoft's launcher to Steam, which is unfortunate. I really enjoyed it before that but I've been meaning to get into it again. The story is interesting, the game play is fun. It is a lot different from the earlier games but that doesn't make this worse than the others, just different. The newer games are fine they just play differently. The movement is good, the audio and music is great, the story is fairly immersive (with the exception of the modern day missions, which I always dislike), the combat is fine but vastly different than earlier games. The Climbing and parkour is much easier than other previous AC games. Odyssey is probably better and maybe Valhalla too, but this is still a solid entry despite Ubisoft changing the formula and this being the test. The atmosphere is incredible, the visuals are amazing. There really seems to be care and detail put into the game and that is always appreciated. Travelling the desert feels very immersive and special.
Assassin's Creed Origins is my favorite game in the series. It's a refreshing take on the AC franchise, with the setting of ancient Egypt (probably the best setting in all the games). While I’m not the biggest fan of the RPG elements, the story is incredibly captivating, and Bayek is just soo badass and tragic as a character. His journey on hunting down the people responsible for his son's death makes him one of the most memorable protagonists in the series. It's really sad that bro never got a happy ending.
I give it a 10/10.
Literally can't play the game because I can't login to their launcher.
It's asking me for 2 step verification that I don't have access to and when I ask for the code to be sent by SMS I don't receive anything.
When I try to troubleshoot on their customer support web page it won't let me submit a ticket unless I login. If I say I can't login it sends me to a page asking what the problem is and when I select 2 step verification it then asks me to submit a ticket which I can't do without logging in using 2 step verification.
Ubisoft can't go bankrupt soon enough.
such a amazing game loved a lot of it but the Curse Dlc is my Favorite
Doesn't run on my ROG Ally, crashes when loading a mission. Always the same result: screen with character shows, 2 brief stutters and crash to desktop, no error message. Tried all settings and ram sizes, same result.
Crash issues on my desktop were recently resolved so I can play there, but not on the Ally, which it was meant for...
Assassin's Creed Origins revitalizes the beloved franchise by taking players on a journey to Ancient Egypt, exploring the very roots of the Assassin Brotherhood. With its expansive open world and a fresh take on gameplay, Origins sets a new standard for the series.
The game focuses on a blend of exploration, combat, and storytelling, with its new RPG-inspired mechanics bringing depth to both character progression and combat. The seamless transition to a loot-based system and skill trees allows players to tailor Bayek’s abilities to their playstyle, making every fight and quest feel personal and rewarding.
Ancient Egypt is the true star of the game, with its breathtaking landscapes, from the towering pyramids to the bustling cities and serene deserts. The world is alive, filled with hidden secrets, side quests, and diverse wildlife, creating an immersive experience that invites exploration and curiosity at every turn.
The story follows Bayek, a Medjay, as he seeks vengeance and uncovers a deeper conspiracy that leads to the foundation of the Assassin Brotherhood. The narrative is emotional and deeply personal, offering a level of character depth that stands out in the series.
Combat in Origins feels fresh, with a revamped system that prioritizes skill, positioning, and timing. Gone are the days of simple counter-kills, replaced by a dynamic system where every encounter feels engaging and challenging.
While Assassin’s Creed Origins brings a much-needed evolution to the series, some might find the pacing of the story slow at times due to the sheer volume of optional content. However, for fans of immersive worlds and exploration, this is a minor issue.
In conclusion, Assassin's Creed Origins is a triumphant return to form for the franchise. Its blend of breathtaking visuals, compelling storytelling, and revamped gameplay mechanics makes it a must-play for fans of open-world RPGs and historical adventures alike. Whether you’re a veteran of the series or a newcomer, this is a journey worth taking.
After the windows 11 update this game need to sign in ubisoft connect first. just lic ac mirage. We can't play offline without signed in.we can't go offline mode anyways. This is so bad from devolopers side. There's no any other companies doing like this. If this still going... I'll never buy a ubisoft game ever
Truly an amazing game! 🎮✨
I still don’t understand why I haven’t played it until now. Maybe its time was now. I waited for it to go on sale, and I finally got it. Next, I’m planning to buy the entire Assassin’s Creed series and play for about a month. 😍🎉
The achievements are super fun, and the game really pulls you in! I hope all the other games in the series are just as good. 🙌🔥 If they add Turkish voice and text support, it would make it even better, and I could focus more on the story. 🇹🇷📝
Thank you, Ubisoft! 💖🙏
My rating for the game: 9/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
