A Long Time Coming
Though I came across RFTG a few years ago in the board game scene, I was initially put off by the wonky artstyle and clunky iconography. However, there was "something" about it that kept drawing me back. So I finally gave it a chance.
Long story short? This is the only game I ever got a both physical and digital copy of (and by that I mean also on iPad, which is a first ever).
The Good
✔️ Tight, succulent, satisfying, elegant game design
✔️ Yes, the artstyle is wonky... but it grows on ya!
✔️ The iconography is actually pretty great!
✔️ Probably the best card game to date
✔️ Plays in 10-15 mins
✔️ Stellar AI
The Bad
❌ Game practically abandoned by devs since 2018
❌ Some cards don't work as intended (*)
❌ A few odd game-breaking bugs
❌ Tiny online playerbase
❌ A bit overpriced
The Neutral
➗ Feels "incomplete" without at least the first 2 expansions (Alien and Gene strats in particular aren't the most viable paths to victory in the base game)
➗ Having no dedicated "card list" is a missed opportunity
Conclusion
Great implementation of a board (card) game! However, devs could have easily added a few more avatars and backgrounds to choose from (especially with 3 expansions). A little more diversity in terms of ambient tracks (there's only one) wouldn't have hurt either. What we got is serviceable, but a bit barebones.

(*) New Military Tactics, for example, should allow you to discard it for +3 military (as per description), regardless of whether you are settling a world or not. The app only allows you to use it to settle a planet.
Liked the original card game. Digital version maintains the card game strategy and simplifies the book keeping for scoring.
fun digitalized version of the real card game. i do much prefer deckbuilding, tcg and the likes though.
i can highly recommend Sushi Go or Gloomhaven for analog ttg
Race for the Galaxy is easily one of my favorite card games. The added expansions are worth it as well. Great game
This is one of my favorite tabletop games, and I think that this is an adequate translation. The bot AI is very good, which keeps the game interesting. I like how fast matches can be played. The interface was obviously designed primarily for mobile - it would be nice to have some faster keyboard shortcuts and if the larger screen space could be used. In particular, it is hard to keep track of what other players are doing since their tableau is minimized all the time - I would like it if it was maximized by default. With very large hands it also can't show all the cards at once, but I think making the cards much smaller on the screen would be fine. Hopefully the rest of the expansions get added eventually.
My favorite card game, digitized! I love this game, the perfect blend of simple mechanics and complex strategy to keep me coming back for more. A fantastic adaptation of a fantastic game.
This is the card game, with an okay interface and surprisingly capable AI opponents.
