This is a very unique and strategy-oriented board game. Been playing for a few years. Love it! Only complaint is that queue times can take awhile. Weekends are the best time to play.
Good one.
This is a timeless great game. Yes, it comes down to luck a lot of the time, and people might rage quit early, but I say, why? I've won a game never getting past my second quest. That's the magic of this game. You might be down and out early, but if you hang in for the long haul (1 hour to maybe 1:30 tops) you can still sneak out a win. I wish it was still supported, there are some bugs that persist, but besides that this has been my most played game on Steam.

I love it so much.
Nothing much to say. if you have 30 mins and patience to learn. its a fantastic board game.
Fun with friends, boring as all fuck when solo. But I feel it isn't the games fault for that, it isn't really meant to be played solo, so if you got no friends who are gonna play with you, pass.
Not overly complicated and pretty streamlined. This fast paced 4 player strategy game has the player(s) choose from 1 of eight characters (2 per 'faction'), each with unique bonuses, unique equipable items, and lean more towards specific win conditions (4 of which exist).
Once you know how to play, the trick is getting better. Knowing what to do and how to go about interactions on the board. Your goal is to: defeat the mad king, cure the mad king, let the mad king die but have the most prestige, or defeat the mad king via corruption. Playing against friend is a bit more enjoyable as playing online with those that know the meta will likely roll you, but if you're up for the challenge be my guest.
I'd recommend this game to those that like semi-involved board games as I am pretty sure there exists a board game of this game (forgot which came first).
The game is cool and is really fun to play with friends but it's a shame that the multiplayer works so fucking bad... if you manage to get into a party (not joking, there are lots of threads online about the shenanigans to do to get into one) god bless your internet because on the minimal interruption you get kicked out and an IA takes over your character and can't rejoin.
This is a very balanced game now. I remember early on when routes to win were much harder but they balanced and the game is still a hit today. Armello has a very active community and the game is a 9.6/10. Very solid strategy game anyone could get into.
Wow, I think this game is so underrated let my try to sell you on it we need more players! I'd describe this game as an EDH-like, and if that doesn't make sense it's a very popular format of Magic: The Gathering. I play it and like most in-person games it can be tough to find players, so I play Armello when I have the Commander urge but can't make it to the store. It's a 4 player free-for-all rpg board game where you pick a hero from 1 of 6 different animal clans and then level up by completing dice-rolling challenges and equipping yourself and casting spells with cards. Yes, that's a lot, but if ya play Magic you know it is also A LOT so know what you're getting into. Ques can be kinda long but on weekends I usually wait around 10-15 minutes to play a very intense hour long pvp game, so I think it's a decent trade and you'll want a little break between games anyway :)
To hit you with a little more Magic jargon, you draw cards up to your hand size every turn, but don't have to discard at any point. So if you have cards stuck in your hand you also can't draw more, but getting in the routine of playing as many cards as you can around the turn cycle (you can play cards on other people's turns OR while the guards/monsters are moving. Don't forget that!) so you can draw a fresh hand of cards next turn.
If you're having trouble, I would try to approach things like this. First, play against the computer until you understand what the win conditions are and how to get them. Then, try to work backwards from what you need to do to win, to what cards and abilities you'd want to achieve that goal, then focus on what you'd need to do to get the best chance of getting those things each game, AND THEN keep in mind you may need a backup plan if you can't get the things you need or other players are disrupting you, and thinking about this ahead of time is useful...
Ok that's a lot of theory let's talk turkey
All of the wins that involve killing the king should be pushed to try and win as fast as possible. Have a plan, know what you need to secure your kill. Only the hero River really wants to wait until the last possible turn to try and kill the king, the advantage of these wins are that you can pull them off quickly. But how? This game is random as heck, so here's some things that help me:
Memorize the symbols you need to match when you attack the castle. You can collect 4 cards that match these ahead of time, giving you an (almost) 100% chance of breaking in and giving you a shot at killing the king. Speaking of killing the king...
Entering the castle usually depletes all your AP, effectively meaning you have to wait a whole turn before you can attack the king, so be prepared to fight off other players as well as the king's guard as the turn rolls around. You can somewhat mitigate this by attacking the castle during the day since the guards move at the start of the daytime turn and (usually) won't attack you at night. But what if you don't want to deal with getting attacked at all?
There are two cards that can grant you +1 AP as soon as you use them. If you use it once you're inside the castle, it will allow you to attack the king the same turn as you enter the castle and this is HUGE it narrows the window where you can be messed with to basically zero. This can be very exciting to do as you can suddenly pull a win out of nowhere and totally dunk on some people, so this is a good place to say...
Be careful with your inputs! I have lost games by accidentally using my cards on the wrong target or moving to another castle tile instead of attacking the king. There are no take-backs in this game and as soon as you click a thing, it happens. Anyway one more tip this got long...
Combining these tips, getting the ability to have at least 5 cards in hand is very useful. 4 cards to break the lock on the castle, plus your secret +1 AP card. If you find one of these early it can be worth hanging onto it for a long time, and this is also a strategy you can practice against the computer because it's more about learning how to dig for what cards you need. It was practicing this that made me really understand how the game works and how to navigate its randomness with purpose, and it's my favorite way to play...
BUT! There is one other win condition that I haven't talked about and why not I'm already writing a blog post. The king will die of natural causes after enough turns pass, and at that point the player with the most Prestige will win the game. You mainly get Prestige by killing monsters, completing quests, and killing other players. It's a playstyle where you are actively trying to disrupt the other players, usually by killing them with your beefy hero. It also means drawing the game out as LONG as possible, so keep in mind that this is a control game played where you have to be ready to for things to run long and be fighting multiple people off a turn in some cases. It is also fun, but it is very hard to practice offline because it's so dependent on what the other players do, and computer players are easy to dupe. So if running around and fighting everything in sight is what you want to do, your best bet is to jump straight into multiplayer once you have a handle on the rules of things.
Oh, and play the tutorial! Also this game has secret hidden lore like you can tell things in the kingdom are in chaos because the king is a lion leading an army of dogs. Cats and dogs living together? C'mon now, the signs are right there! Also birds are evil, there are no bird-people characters only bird monsters, and also horses are magic extinct spirits, and goblins live in the mountains and... and I could go on but I'm done. Play it it's fun!
Yeah, the art is gorgeous and the gameplay is fun and every match feels fresh
But most importantly of all, it feels great to drop 22 dice on an opponent and hear them go clickety-clack before you absolutely annihilate them.
Armello is a tricky game. I like the art style and want to enjoy it but, personally, I just don't get it. I don't understand the strategy or find the gameplay patterns particularly enjoyable or rewarding. I have this game a shot on many different occasions and have still not cracked it.
One thing I think it might struggle with is a lack of a cohesive identity. I really struggle to summarise what exactly is the core gameplay of Armello and because of that it feels like there are many parts of it that just don't feel that important or fit in.
I really want to like this game, but just don't and because of that, I can't recommend it.
Love it. 4/5 for me, simple to learn but very strategic game. The problem with this game is it's bugs and little player base.
Awesome. The only missing feature is a split screen offline PvP
Great animated graphics and game play! Easy to learn and fast paced. Love all the dice collections and lore behind the game.
Love the game, played it on my ps4 back in the days
Sadly have to refund because it keeps crashing in the prologue of the bear
otherwise solid game maybe youll have more luck playing it (obviously)
Aremllo is a really well crafted digital board game offering many hours of fun either solo or playing with other players. There is plenty of variability with how games go and a little bit of luck can turn your fortunes around quick. The art style with the animals is really appealing. It's not weird like anime or fluffy like Animal Crossing. It has more of a Red Wall or Watership Down vibe. It would be cool if someone made a real-time strategy game with this theme one day.
Right then, listen up you lot. Today we're talking about Armello, and let me tell you something – proper Shakespeare stuff, except with wolves and rabbits wearing fancy clothes. This is where real alphas come to establish dominance in a kingdom that separates the wolves from the sheep, literally and figuratively.
Now, I used to be like you lot, sitting there playing casual games, probably eating crisps and wondering why life isn't fair. But then I discovered this absolute beast of a game, and it's like going to the gym for your brain, except instead of lifting weights, you're lifting the crown of a dying king. Mental, right?
First things first: if you're looking for hand-holding and participation trophies, delete this game and go back to Candy Crush. Armello is built different - it's got that rare sigma energy that demands respect. The moment you boot it up, you're hit with absolutely god-tier hand-drawn art that shows the devs weren't playing around. They put in the work, and now it's your turn to grind.
The gameplay? It's like they took every board game in existence, put it through a brutal training regime, and came out with this absolute unit of a strategy game. You've got cards, dice, and more ways to assert dominance than at a business meeting with Jared Kushner. And let me tell you something about the combat - it's about as balanced as my diet during bulking season, which is to say, it isn't. But that's life, innit?
You know what's properly based? The fact that there's no comeback mechanic. When you're behind in this game, you're proper behind. It's like nature - survival of the fittest. Some people complain about this, saying it's "unfair." You know what else is unfair? Evolution. Deal with it.
The multiplayer? It's like trying to organize a reunion tour for your old class, except everyone's a sigma male trying to establish dominance. People quit faster than men backing out of a conversation about women's rights. But that's good! Natural selection, innit? The weak leave, the strong survive, and I'm sitting here becoming more based by the minute.
Here's the thing though - and this is absolutely crucial - despite all its flaws, it's properly addictive. It's like going to the gym: sometimes you hate it, sometimes you love it, but you always come back for more because you're on that grind. The stories it creates are more epic than my Twitter feed during a cancel attempt.
Look, I'll be honest with you - this game isn't perfect. It's got bugs that'll make you want to throw your protein shake at the wall. The multiplayer setup is more complicated than explaining comedy to someone who's trying to cancel you. But you know what? That's part of the grindset. Embrace the pain, embrace the chaos.
Final verdict? - PROPERLY BASED AND ABSOLUTELY MENTAL. If you can embrace the chaos and don't mind occasionally shouting at your screen when a rabbit assassin murders your carefully crafted plans, you'll have a good time.
To all you kings reading this: stop sitting there nodding along. Get in there and start your grind. And remember what I always say: "Life is like Armello - the weak complain about RNG, while the strong adapt and keep grinding."
Stay blessed, keep lifting, and remember - if you're not failing, you're not trying hard enough. Now excuse me while I go practice my dice rolls with these 50kg dumbbells.
Ugh, this game is absolutely amazing. I love it, and i love all the characters. There's a few bugs & minor issues, but i wouldn't let that stop you. Me & my roommate have literally been playing this nonstop for the last day or two, we love it so much.
The Characters:
The characters are so unique & creative and you can tell lots of thought went into their lore. There's not only little backstory blurbs for each individual character, but literal novella's that give you even more character & clan lore. I love the different poses each character has, and the voice lines as well! Honestly the lore of this game, and the character development is probably my favorite thing.
The Gameplay:
It's super fun! But it does have a bit of a learning curve, so i highly recommend playing a solo game or two after finishing the prologue. This way you can figure out the loadouts of characters, and play around with others instead of the four in the prologue (don't worry folks who didn't buy any DLC content, you get two characters from each clan to play with from the base game). I love the different ways to play & win, as well as the many different cards to choose from. The dice rolling & fate choosing aspect is also really fun! If you're a fan of DnD, Catan, or any other strategy board game i definetly reccomend this one. It feels like there's a lot to do & lots of new game play with the different play styles, characters & collectables. Also, don't fret if you have no video gamer friends (or any friends for that matter) because theres an online co-op mode!
The Artstyle:
There is so much art for this game, oh my lord. While i'm not the biggest fan of the characters 3D models, the character portraits & fight animations are absolutley GORGEOUS. I love how they're drawn, and all of the attacking & blocking moves are so so cool. You get to see each characters personality bleed into their fight style, and it's amazing. Plus, the board is also beautiful and i love the different season elements that help spice up the game.
Some Drawbacks:
When you're collecting rewards & chests, they don't always load, leaving you to collect them later. While not a huge issue, it is pretty annoying if you're trying to collect multiple rewards or open chests and the game refuses to let you. It's an easy enough fix, to either just wait it out or restart the game. Another downside is that when you're playing with AI, the AI doesn't always know how to play one of the characters that's been chosen, which can lead to some very annoying & very funny moments in game. Another issue is that it's a bit confusing to figure out setting up a game room with your friends (especially Steam Friends). The Steam invite doesn't really work, and once you have everyone, it's confusing to set up a co-op game with them (especially if you have open slots & don't want to play with other online members).
Overall:
Despite it's flaws i do highly recommend this game, and give it an 8/10! It's drawbacks aren't too bad, and despite being almost 10 years old at this point, it's still receiving updates & DLC's. If you're on the fence, wait for it to go on sale or watch a play through! Play Frame on Youtube does a lovely job with going through the prologue, and it was that video that got me hooked on this. ^-^
10/10
used to play this game all the time in school and it's still just as good as I remember
the board game concept is really unique and I love the visuals, genuinely one of my favourite strategy games of all time
wish I had the physical board game
a fun game full of back stabbing and scandal.
great game.
The greatest game I've ever played!!
Good game for multiplayer
A joy to play with a gorgeous artstyle. Gather your friends and play a round, I say!
It was once a great game and i still to this day enjoy playing the game BUT i wont recommend the game anymore, i encountered way to many bugs and glitches where the game just breaks to the point where you cant even finish a game anymore just because someone left the game, sadly the devs of this game stoped giving it any updates and abandoned it for games that were doing alot worse and are still doing worse than armello ever did but here we are with a once good game now slowly fadeing away.
Beautiful art and fun game-play. I find myself coming back to this game regularly.
I wanted to like this game. Had my eye on it for a hot minute because of the art style. However after finishing the tutorial, I'm finding that it's almost entirely RNG based whether you do well or not more than anything else. Seems like it'd be a really fun game to play with 3 other IRL friends who like similar games, because then it wouldn't really matter about the RNG and lack of skill required to win. However, it's pretty niche, and as a solo gamer, I'm not finding a lot of love for it beyond the art direction (which is great).
This game needs a revival, like a expansion or something.
Can't actually play offline, game breaks and doesn't let you start. RNG is bad. Not sure what else to say
Luck can be both your greatest ally and your worst enemy in this game. That being said, the game's really fun, especially with the DLC characters. Each Character (Except maybe Fang and Sana) is deceptively versatile and can effectively achieve any of the 4 victory types with enough strategizing. Again, though, strategy wont always save you; may the odds ever be in your favor.
The best way to play this game is with friends. This game is also a good way to end a friendship.
It's any easy game to play, but it has so many intricate details that you'll love. The animation style is gorgeous
Game has interesting mechanics - I'm enjoying combining cards and dice to win fights and complete quests. Don't fully have the hang of everything yet, but enjoying the learning process.
The multiplayer matchmaking is unsupported or isn't active. I purchased this game with the expectation that I would be able to play the game multiplayer but after a half an hour of waiting on matchmaking I gave up
One of my favorite "board game style" video games. The game play allows for some varied play styles. The mechanics are solid and simple to grasp after a few quick games. The art and animation for the cards especially is amazing! A recommendation for any board game fan. My biggest gripe is that the AI is pretty easy but you can play online too.
Play it on and off. It is a fun casual game. Lovely art style.
Very mediocre boardgame.
Artstyle is great, and the overall idea is not bad at all.
However its badly balanced and extremely RNG, you win by luck and lose by having bad luck each run.
4 Win conditions that are very badly balanced, Prestige victory is the easiest as it only requires you to collect points and make sure the others dont win in the limited time period. All other victory conditions can be countered by players, but Prestige only gets countered by RNG.
The king gives a random buff or debuff to players every 2 turns, this is also extremely unbalanced since you can be forced to choose between ''lose the game or lose the game'' options.
UI elements cant be scaled and are sometimes unreadable.
Overall its a good attempt at making a boardgame thats unique, but because its so badly balanced it also falls short in delivering what potential it has. Its not a terrible game, but you dont get to fully play it either with how much RNG there is. And boardgames should be played by the player, not be a gamble of RNG.

Armello is an absolute blast! It’s incredibly fun to play with friends, and the excitement of new character releases keeps things fresh and thrilling. We’re eagerly looking forward to trying out the board game version too. Highly recommend!
buggy
Nice boardgame imitation
Armello is a lot of fun, and worth your time, with engaging sub-games and interesting lore that makes it overall a fun romp with a definite end.
Beautiful art style. Heartwarming Redwallesque setting. Each playthrough can weave a little story for the imaginative mind.
Join lobbies via roomcode, invites have always been janky.
Best played in a call with friends.
Don't anticipate updates with new skins or dice or anything, most have moved on from this game. But I still love it.
Sweet red hot wine
Sweet red hot wine
When everyone knows how to use the emote system to shit talk each other this game is at its absolute peak.
