buggy, difficult to play, constant crashing. I was hoping it would be a good trip down memory lane as I played it back when it first came out, but was sorely disappointed.

This has got to be one of, if not, the worst game I have ever had the displeasure of playing. I wish I could go back in time to before I played this piece of slop. I would rather eat a lactating sack of toenail sandwiches than ever have play this game again.

Don't bother. The game is badly optimized, freezes a lot. And just like when I first played it back in the day, it is not that good. Certainly not worth the price of Steam.

controls suck, and now game glitches as it tries to edit registry, great game during its time 23 yrs ago, wished it was less glitchy on my game pc

This is a very good game however this release is broken. There's a certain point in the game where the game crashes. You need to install a patch from PCGamingWiki. However this patch breaks the CD audio pathing, thus ruining cutscenes and worldbuilding TVs. Reinstalling the game after the next map does fix it.

I HATE giving negative reviews for games I enjoyed playing, but the people who paid $$ for this shouldn't have to suffer with patching a game.

I heard the GOG version of Messiah fixes everything so go buy that.

Dont Buy! Worst port I have played so far!

At one of the levels at the start of the game, the game crashes every time

best PC game ever, I wish someone would fix it to run on WIN 10, I would STILL be playing it !!

Crazy game I played back in 90s with unique gameplay and story!

Pretty fun game if you can get it to work right with your rig. Used to play it alot as a kid. I got to a point where I couldn't continue the game anymore because it wouldn't load the next level and kept crashing. Ended up getting refunded.

ok. 2 things first

1. BUGGY AS FUCK. the port to windows 10 is despicable. before buying this read the community guide on how to install the patch. it is ESSENTIAL to run on windows. I MEANT IT. then after you do that you will have to run it through one of the real launchers, not the buggy steam launcher. forget fricking overlays, all you want is to play this game.

2. Beware that this game apparently got rushed, and its still too pricey for the size. so i recommend buying ONLY when its on SALE. otherwise its not very worth the price. its an ok game though, so its nice for a gamer who likes old games.

now for the actual review.

This game is one of those interesting cyberpunk games like Project Eden or Slave Zero. with HUGE cities, futuristic tech and lots and lots of crazy evil. its basically a 90s version of a evil cyberpunk city that is uncaring. you might even see some bottomless pits while you are walking, and dont forget to enjoy the sights.

Ambience/ Aesthetic: Its a cyberpunk city with some generic citizens, there arent many characters besides you(BOB), god(voice only), and the the villain, so dont expect memorable characters with different 3d models. you will see for example. ONE model with ONE texture for all workers, 3 different model and textures for police/soldiers, one for commanders, and some other few special skins and other npcs, but trust me, you will get tired of seeing the same texture, with the same animation cycles. Thankfully that gets saved by the great lines by bob and some of the npcs, making the game feel a little bit more "real" than just a level.

the world feels vibrant and full of life, some areas feel as if they have revised the levels to make everything as a living breath world full of people working or living. images and lines might get played to show the consequences of your actions.

As for level design, its great, you can clearly see when they want you to platform, and when they want you to possess someone, it could get some more work but its a very good level design. the levels are short puzzles which you have to pass either by shooting your enemies, platforming, or doing some sort of puzzle. hopefully you will learn how to enjoy the somewhat well crafted world with the somewhat good levels. i loved them very much, for the love of old platformers.

"You play as BOB, a cute little angel that can posses people and use their abilities". great concept which gave this game great puzzles. you can pose as someone while posessing them *HURDUR* but some people might think you are acting weird, and if they noticed 'you' are being possessed they might act accordingly.

but ok. i love this game very much, great world, level design and puzzles. lets go to the bad sides.

SPOILERS WARNING.

THE BOSS SUCKS. it should have been 2 bosses, but remeber i said it felt rushed? yeah, your character just starts an animation which you cant stop and he defeats the 'first boss" for me. thats also when the italian language bug appeared for me for the first time. the second and last boss is a fucking joke. its the easiest part of the game. this game is fricking easy in lots of times, especially in the platforming section. your character has wings, but he does not has full flight, he can hop in the air while starting to descend, but you almost dont die unless you suck like me. platforming could have been better, maybe remove the wings? who knows.

you can also posses anyone on easy, and the harder the difficulty i think the easier it is for the agressive characters to kick you and prevent you from possessing them if they are alerted. but you can still make everyone kill each other until you are possessing the last person alive.

TLDR. Many problems, many bugs, feels unfinished and short. is it worth on sale? yes, not on full price though. i had some fun and thats what counts, the game was designed with lots of love but it was left unpolished and unfinished. lookup some other reviews on youtube

The game itself is fine, a problem solving sabotage game where careful platforming and finding the right item to progress (in this case often bodies) passed each new hurdle is a welcome throw-back to when puzzle games were about retracing the developer's logic for any given situation. Quite a few bits of dark-humor as well - I do love that game overcomes the God-can-do-anything protagonist problem by making God only just caring enough about the planet to be slightly annoyed by a dystopia - balanced out by a wide-eyed, though homicidal, angel as your player avatar. Really I should love this. So why am I not recommending it? The GAME DOES NOT WORK passed a certain point, the technical support for the game is all long since gone and so if you buy this game, you are only buying the first 2ish levels of it. Have what fun you can with what is there, but know there will be no end-game for your purchase.

Unwieldy, dated controls, hardly any clue as to what's going on, confusing layouts, general stiffness, with the only positives being the concept and the pulse-pounding Fear Factory soundtrack.

Plus the platforming aspect of this game is abysmal, and figuring out how to finally get things going control-wise just isn't worth the stress. No thank you.

I owned this game on CD Rom way back and it has always been one of my favourites. When I saw it on Steam I bought it for the sake of nostalgia. This game is old so be prepared for low res textures, glitchy sound, awkward control layout and general old-timey weirdness. It's pretty buggy. But if you can handle all that, the concept of this game is really cool. In case you're unclear about it - you're an angel baby, and you're completely defenseless. But you possess others in order to use weapons, tools, gain access to areas of the map, sneak past guards without raising suspicion, and so on. I'm not sure if there's another game like it. Still in my top 5 games of all time.

The game itself isn't bad. Or at least it wasn't bad. When it was released back in 2000 it was a state of the art game. And it's based around a interesting idea. However there are some serious reasons why I am not going to give it a thumbs up for now:

1st: It's a very bad port. Instead of fixing the Direct3D incompatibilities relating to the new Windows versions the publisher just added a compatibility layer for the old 3dfx Glide API (which became obsolete approximately 15 years ago). Because of that settings that were present in the original Direct3D version (which is still in the same directory but is no longer working) are missing. Also there are only 4:3-resolutions up to 1600x1200. That's an issue for new widescreen monitors. And then there are issues with sound. Also the ugly visual deformations of the characters are not nesessary anymore, since the computing power increased by several orders of magnitude. There is just so mutch stuff that could have been improved in this game, but nobody took care of that.

2nd: The game's big pricetag is unjustified. Plainly spoken it's not 2000 anymore and the game does not meet today's standards in order to cost that mutch. However if the 1st reason wasn't there then the 2nd reason probably would not been such a big issue for me.

bob is not your average baby because he has wings. the controls are obscure. videogames are art. highly recommended for players wanting a little more PANACHE in their gaming diet.
