If you have never played Broken Sword, DO NOT play this version first. There is a ton of missing content, including missing dialogue, puzzles, animations, and storytelling. Most characters' speaking animations (among some other animations) have been totally removed, which makes the scenes feel less alive. One or two characters have disappeared entirely. The text is too small and visually doesn't fit the game.
The original Broken Sword is an excellent adventure game and well worth playing. Luckily, you can install additional content to access the original game if you've bought this version. Someone has posted helpful instructions on how to do this on the discussion forum.
There is a new remastered version of Broken Sword out as well, but I don't know if it corrects all of the problems in this one or not.
IF you have already played the original Broken Sword, there is some enjoyable added content here, and the remastered art looks very nice.
Perfect blend of history, adventure, romance, story, and puzzles. I really enjoyed this classic game from start to finish. On to the sequel!
An adventure game I sadly overlooked for many years. Fun characters, witty writing, interesting historical lore, and satisfying like a good movie. An easy recommendation.
Cool game, was very nostalgic to play it for the first time since I was a kid and hadn't really lost it's charm. One of my favourite point and clicks from this era.
When Broken Sword was released back in '96 it was a great point-and-click adventure and it still holds up after all these years. So why the downvote? Cause this version simply isn't it. The "Director's cut" adds a new sideplot with Nico that is at best inconsequential. Additionally it adds "fullscreen puzzles" that were clearly designed for the touchscreen device port this version is originally based on. Finally it removes all death scenes from the game by putting George on autopilot every time you encounter a dangerous situation.
All of this muddles a superb game, therefore I'd recommend checking out the "Original version"-DLC or the new remaster instead of this version.
A true classic. A legend.
I loved this game when I played it as a kid and I loved it just as much when I replayed it as an adult! Works well on the Steam Deck too!

Memorable Characters: George’s sarcastic humor and Nico’s sharp wit make for a great dynamic duo.
Beautiful Visuals: The hand-drawn 2D animation adds charm and atmosphere, especially for its time.
Varied Puzzles: A mix of logical and exploration-based puzzles, though some can be frustrating.
Immersive Atmosphere: Subtle music and detailed locations make exploring the world captivating.
Timeless Appeal: Despite minor flaws, it remains one of the best classic adventure games.
I have played this for years and it never, ever gets old
One of the best point and click games ever made. Brilliant story and excellent puzzles.

It's a lovely game.
Played using the classic (original) DLC version, Its just as I remembered as a kid, My dad showed me this game when i was about 6yrs old and we stayed up all night with my brother trying to solve the mystery before the days of walkthroughs at the click of a button. Some of my best memories. I'm so glad i got to play it again.
Great edition of this old gem.
