Dawnfall is a lost wanderer who travels in a fragmented universe where time and space are twisted. There is a mysterious voice that guides him in a journey that will bring him to fabulous places, meeting challenges that he never thought he could face and that will allow him to find the way back home.
Dawnfall’s life has been messed up by a book. He doesn’t know why but somewhere in that book he will find answers to all his questions.
Waking the Glares is a great journey, an exploration-based game that will require the player to pay attention to the environment from a visual and acoustic point of view.
With this release the player will get the first two chapters of Waking the Glares. The complete adventure is intended to be made of seven different chapters and their release will depend on the first release success.
But please note that every single chapter tells a story on its own, just, there’s a thread passing through all the chapters. In game terms, this means that every single chapter is set in a different location with a slightly different gameplay.
The story revolves around a book that has messed up Dawnfall’s life. To “Wake” the “Glares” means to look for answers, to discover secrets and to find out why this book is so important. This book is real and together with Waking the Glares the player will get its ebook version and so the opportunity to live a deeper experience.

Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Xbox One controller
This is just a bad game. My playtime is not correct because I started game straight from Oculus home. I got into Chapter 2 and got stuck after finding 2 of the 4 items / causing 2 of the 4 events. There isn't much to say about this game, which makes it a little difficult to review. Especialy when the chapters differ in quality.
It's a generic walking simulator. Graphics are bad. Interactions are limited to choosing the right location (& time?) to press A on your controller. You have full locomotion and smooth turning. Game starts out with voice narration in the first chapter but is completely missing in the 2nd chapter. In fact, game started out okay in the first chapter, but then just completely goes south in the second. Second chapter has stick figures walking around Paris. Assets / 3D assets are just terrible.
Puzzle element was kind of easy in the first chapter, mostly because you just have this one house to explore around and find the right item. Second chapter has you walking around this pretty big block and having to press A inside buildings or other areas and then having to go a certain route to trigger events by pressing A in another area. It was convuluted and in the end, I just gave up because the whole experience was not enjoyeable.
Rate 3.5/10. It has a low price at least. It's not the worst game, but I just can't recommend this at any price. I had zero fun.
Nice little game.
An intriguing idea, poorly executed. I thought the mannequins kind of a neat though.
Cons:
- VR part is really queasy
-- Needs a fixed rotate option
-- aliasing is really really bad for some reason. And the particle effects are oddly wavy.
-- The forced artificial movement is a big no-no in VR. Use Touch/Vive wands or don't move at all.
- Gameplay isn't really true puzzles. More just collecting random items for no particular reason.
Just having finished Waking the Glares - Chapter I and II, I can not recommend the game. Here is why:
- The game is short - you can complete it in about an hour
- Basically, there are three scenes. While the first and second make little sense, there is at least a glimpse of a story in the third one - that ends with a cliffhanger.
- the game is absolutely no beauty. No offense, that would be no problem if the game did not suffer from casual frame drops at the same time
- while the music is pretty decently playing along in the background, the narrative bits are of poor quality
In short, this game was a disappointment to me, and I am not looking forward to playing further chapters. There are better indie games out there with more gaming value - better spend your money on these.

A surprising game with both chapters being very different from each other in tone and gameplay. I played only using keyboard and mouse, and thoroughly enjoyed the visuals. The first part was more contemplative and slow. But I loved the second chapter's puzzles and the twist at the very end has me hooked for more. I only hope that we eventually will get to see more of Dawnfall's adventures.
Do not buy! Made me sick in VR, the stereoscopic cutscenes change the interocular perspectiuve back and forth it was awful. They did one of the worst jobs I've seen in VR
I've to admit that wasn't easy to find the words to describe this game, because it is so peculiar and unique that is really difficult to define it. Starting from the plot, this game tells us the story of a man who has found a very particular book, which seems to know us; following an unknown voice we will be driven into different worlds, where we have to solve some unusual and stimulating riddles. The game is not that long, but, I mean, there are game that last 8 hours but that are really boring, while this game has a specific soul and it is captivating. It's really difficult to explain the care and the attention that the developers have used to recreate each levels and you'll understand that everything in the game has a specific meaning. Moreover, buying the game you'll also receive the ebook, upon which the game is built and that contains the "lore" of the game.
I've really enjoed playing the game and I would like to congratulate the developers for the game they have created, because it has a specific soul and it is a really brave game and it's only thanks to this kind of game that the industry may grow.
