This game is essentially a remake of the free-to-play game "Blossoms Bloom Brightest." The original free game is better than this one, so definitely play that first if you're interested at all in Galaxy Girls. Not only is BBB free, but the art style suits the characters much better. A big part of Kotoha's character is that she's the youngest of the group, and Sara frequently mocks her for her age. In the Dharker art style, Kotoha has some MILF energy which doesn't fit with the character at all. The one thing that Galaxy Girls does better is adding an additional love interest. The original game explains that there are three types of "blossoms," but since there are only two love interests, the third blossom type isn't represented. Enter Emilia - the best character. She fits in really well with the rest of the cast, and it feels like she was meant to be there.

So yeah, try the free game first. If you like what you see, then consider picking up this game on sale to experience the new character.

Galaxy Girls is a relatively short story about four women on a space ship. You take on the role of the captain, Erica, and make some choices here and there to direct the narrative. The story contains a prologue where your choices dictate which of the three routes you'll take on.
Each route locks you into a romance with one of the three other girls and depending on your choices, will result in different endings. All told there are ten regular endings, an early bad ending and three endings for each of the three girls. After unlocking the ten endings, five more endings open up, for a total of 15.

The story itself is very basic, nothing really goes on and while there are 15 endings, the majority of your time will be spent skipping everything you've already read to get to the little bits you haven't. It's just not very good overall.

As far as adult scenes, there is an external patch, but there isn't too much content here and most of it doesn't unlock until you've completed the initial ten endings.

On the positive side, I did like the sprites -- each girl has several different facial expressions and different outfits. The CG is pretty good with a number of minor variations for each picture.

The DLC is all pretty short isolated little stories that try to expand on the almost non-existent main story but they do have a sex scene at least.

Overall, Galaxy Girls is a massively overpriced visual novel, particularly when you factor in the DLC episodes. It just isn't worth the money -- perhaps at a steep discount (~75% off) it's worth it, but there are just too many other options out there better than this. It has an occasional fun moment, but there's not enough.

*Externally downloaded patch provides uncensored, non-mosaic'd scenes.

TL;DR - Game is abandoned, play one of the other Dharker Studio VNs instead. Maybe pick it up for the trading cards if you are a badge collector.

The story on this iteration of Dharker Studio's foray into the visual novel genre is OK. Don't really expect anything that will engross you into wanting to click into the next chapter, and the character personalities will be familiar to those that have gotten their feet wet with other VNs before.

Unfortunately re-running routes was hard for me, and I ended up shelving it after just two ends. Adding to the lack of my motivation is that there is a good setup here for some nice yuri scenes, but since the developer abandoned this game, patching files are no longer officially available to restore the game to it's original version. With one of the main motivations for playing through this gone, there is no real incentive to pick this up anymore. It's a real shame because I am personally a fan of the art style that Dharker Studios brings to it various VNs.

Despite negative reviews, decided to try this one after playing Battle Girls which i liked. Definitely advise against anyone following that.

The only good feature here is "sexy content" (all yuri) which IS good. However adult content is not present in Steam and all links are removed from discussions, and half of it is in DLC`s. You can find gallery link in guides.

Setting is a foam over mundane "group of people forced to live together". Story, characters, their clothes and backgrounds don`t fit each other. No plot/events in main game, basically sleep-eat-play-repeat. Even UI is sloppy.

A short, space themed yuri VN that is somewhat of a remake of another VN called: "Blossoms Bloom Brightest". Will the story served by the Dharker studios lift you beyond the sky as well?

You wake up on a spaceship along with two other crew members after a good cryo-nap. As the ship's captain, and the only person aware of the current circumstances, you are responsible for managing your team. Other than assigning practical roles, you also are put in charge of developing and maintaining good relationships between all girls aboard. Not an easy task considering mission's initial secrecy and all being strangers to each other. As expected of a yuri title, good choices lead to romance routes with each heroine. That is also the sole focus of this story as nothing else is explained in depth and there is little to no action other than slice of life. The space setting is almost irrelevant here, and could be easily replaced by a different form of confinement. The rushed, barely two-weeks long, romantic interactions also leave rather weak impression. The story is short but still long enough to contain some non sequitur events. Not the best nor the worst writing I've seen but considering the price I'm not that disappointed; still, near-zero space setting utilisation lowered my enjoyment. 10 possible endings + DLC provide enough content to justify the price (in my opinion ofc).

Art done by Kopianget is possibly the best selling point of this title. Dharker is lucky to have such a good artist in their team. Sprites are well drawn but there ain't many of them and some laughing/surprise poses are a bit too exaggerated. There is a good number of CGs, all colourful and nicely detailed. Some simple animations add even more value to this game. Scarce but nicely done backgrounds are another positive.

Music accompanying the story is somewhat average. Tracks more or less fit the events but there is little variety and all easily forgettable.

Just one bug encountered during one of Sara's ending scenes on standard difficulty. The easy mode avoids this issue.

Overall, a short, sci-fi yuri VN, with way more yuri focus than sci-fi, good quality art and ok music. If yuri stories and slice of life are to your liking, then it should be a sufficiently enjoyable experience. 5.8/10

This is a pretty good visual novel. i kind of wish the events where more spaced out and that some of the choices had more impact, but over all it has been quite enjoyable.

Just a nice cartoon-like interactive romance novel.

5/10

How to improve?
- I`m missing a lot of pictures to describe events
- too static characters - must be live, like in the Emergency scene
- Voice, characters with a real personality would have half impact of the game!
- more music
- DLCs, I do not see value in them

I found positive thing for myself:
+ Interesting Story about some possible feelings between Girls
+ few hours of Gameplay goes in a swoop
+ not bad design and characters, b00b13s who doesn`t like, huh?
+ music is ok
+ intrigue to replay various story-lines again and again to discover something new

Edit1: I'm aware I have 144 hours in this game, but that's only because I'm heavily interested in doing an entire re-write of the game, so that's my reasoning for the high hours.

So I've been needing to collect my thoughts for an extremely long time with this visual novel, mostly in regards to how it progresses and how the story flows.

Lets start with the story and where it stands: It works, but there are some points that need ironing out.

Erica being thrust into a position of leadership, but also being a blank slate of a character puts her character development in a weird situation. She's about as socially awkward as you'd expect from this sort of archetype, but that's not to say it's bad since the player can project themselves onto them. The problem with Erica is that she's expected to make a large character growth in just two weeks of ingame time. I'll just leave it at that.

Kotoha is fine for what it's worth, but she lives overly carefree and you only ever see her stress out during the actual bad ending of the visual novel, but also two weeks to go from stranger to lover(or harem/poly) feels too short for her. Regardless, her character is the best of the four, but only because she's semi-relatable.

Sara... Jesus. For being a Doctor, she definitely is the most unhinged of the four. She snaps at the other characters quite frequently while not missing an opportunity to bash Kotoha for her carefree attitude or Erica's inability to tell the truth of what's going on or for just being a shitty captain. That sort of attitude is weird to me for someone with her background. If her character were to be re-written, it should have her be more sarcastic and sassy rather than rude and asinine. I would've also liked to see some sprinkles of her mental state actually breaking down a bit while in front of the other characters.

Emilia... Was definitely an afterthought with her incorporation into the story. All of her dialogue is the shortest and seems to have the least impact and it shows when you compare Blossoms Bloom Brightest to Galaxy Girls where the dialogue still flows without her being there. Her route is still interesting, but I feel like the story of how she winded up on the ship should have been in the main story rather than a DLC Addon. Rather than stumbling upon the ship, though, have it where she was tricked into getting on the ship by her Mistress or something. *coughcough*
------
What about the overall big picture of the story? It's a great central starting off point. Four characters in space. Put onto a ship by what is essentially a shadow government. Traveling to some unknown location based on the ship's computer.
The issue here is that no one does any maintenance work while in the ship despite Erica having assigned them roles. Unfortunately, there's another problem with there only being four characters on a ship designed to hold twelve people. Emilia cleans the entire inside of the ship. Kotoha is supposed to be the mechanic for the ship. Sara is the ship's doctor. Erica is the captain who looks at the ship's vitals(My assumption). That still leaves any maintenance to be done in other areas of the ship. Just a little too much for only four characters.

The next issue I had with the visual novel was the length. The game is divided into two parts that last one week each with the first week being dedicated to the character you're trying to get involved with(Kotoha, Sara, or Emilia) and the second week being dedicated to one of said character's route. That feels too short and I honestly believe it should be extended to an ingame time of 30 days which would divide up the time to 15 days to getting a route and 15 days dedicated to said route.

The final issue I had was the "difficulty" of figuring out what choices affected which character in order to get to a specific route, which was further complicated when you entered the route you wanted, but still had to figure out what combination of choices would get you the ending you probably wanted. I would've liked to see something similar to what Detroit: Become Human did with arrows pointing up or down depending on the choices you made and how it effected the character. There was also the problem of having to make seven correct choices to get into the route you wanted(As well as another seven choices during the actual route itself for one of three endings) and not actually knowing if you picked the right choices only to wind up in the bad ending cause you were going with your gut. Needs an indicator if the game ever gets a re-master.
--------------------
And that kinda covers what I wanted to actually go over. Among the other things, the art is fantastic and the animated bits are great, but the story needs a large overhaul to make it stand the test of time. *coughcough*

So I give this game a 6.5 out of 10 in its current form. I still recommend you go through it and form your own opinions, but take it at face value for what it is: A Yuri title in space.

Another short, yuri, visual based Dharker title. Very short story that ends abruptly and never really goes much of anywhere from the 3 endings I've seen so far (they only wear the space suits in the thumbnail once and you could go the whole story without really realizing they're in space despite the title). The main focus of the novel is the cg's, which you need to go through way too many endings for and even buy additional $20 of dlc just for some extra scenes. Not worth the cash unless you have money to burn for a few nice images and animation to the extent of girls blinking occasionally. I will update once I've gone through all ~14 endings however.

I have no words to how absolutely mundane and overly complicated this game is to "beat" it. After 2 hours of playing, i managed to get 2 ends, both which are bad endings. I genuinely couldn't bring myself to try again as its is just plain annoying to play and chose the perfect answer for everyone so you dont get a bad end, which seems to be most of the time. Overall its just bad, garbage, and just a plain annoyance to play

Let me start by saying I actually enjoyed Galaxy Girls, especially as an expansion/upgrade to Blossoms Bloom Brightest, which is essentially the free premise version of this game available on Steam.

galaxy girls for the most part is a straight upgrade - but in being so it re-uses a lot of content from the free version, with new art, backgrounds, and a new character who feels mostly natural once she's included, but is shoe-horned in really lazily.

The non-recommendation comes from the shallow business practices of packing a bunch of mini-DLCs of very inconsistent quality into the mix that I simply can't approve of. The Card Game DLC is utterly terrible, and while the other four story based ones are interesting, four dollars a pop for them is a bit steep after a 13 dollar base price.

That said, if you played - and enjoyed - Blossoms Bloom Brightest, or enjoy cute, somewhat plot-weak but character-heavy VNs (with an uncensor patch on the Developers website) you'll enjoy this.

The four story-based DLC range from Okay to Good, but all of them are very short; I'd recommend Sara's and Kotoha's the most for character development purposes, as they explore relationships between the characters at different parts of the story moreso than the other two, which are mostly fanservice (with Erica's being the overtly superior of the two focused on smut).

Overall, good game, sucky business practices, only buy it on sale or if you loved the free version.

This is an interesting visual novel. A rewrite and update of a free-to-play visual novel (I think called Blossoms Bloom Brightest), this adds another girl, updates the artwork and refines the story. Whether that is a good thing or not, I really can't say, as I have not experienced the first story.

What I can say is that this ends up being a usual Dharker product. Though even that might not be completely true, as it appears the group called BurstRay has broken off from Dharker...

Anyway, I would suggest getting this on discount. And maybe the Deluxe edition for all the DLCs...

What happened?

I had high hopes for this since I liked the demo/first version, Blossoms Bloom Brightest. But I was mistaken...

  • The art changed. It was what caught my attention in the first version. There's really no reason to change it. It's now harder to take Sara's personality seriously (facial expression looks really, really bad). Because of this, the game now looks like a straight up porno. Don't get me wrong, the art is still good.
  • What happened to the characters? I thought they had MORE depth in the previous version. It's all gone in this.
  • [*] The writing is not decent...just like the characters (get it?). But it is also not bad.

I have never made a mistake in choosing/buying VNs, Galaxy Girls marks my first. Of all the VNs that I have played (in steam and out of steam), this is the worst. I was going to recommend this because yuri but this is just, say disgusting, for the lack of words.

Yuri Is a great creation. Sadly, Galaxy Girls and Dharker Studio is not.

Your time and money are both precious. Don't let them take it away from you!

TLDR : Great art as well as premise, bogged down by a horribly unfinished story, terrible writing and even worse bussiness practice from the developer (dharker studio). If you love yuri and want to support the genre, look elsewhere

Remember: this is a Visual Novel, a game that bears a story.
That story: Is terrible.
Here, the writing is straight up ripped from the free-to-play original, there are almost no liberties taken in this department. Adding in the new chracter (a kickstarter goal) was a neat idea (I <3 albino hair!), that unfortunately has little to no interesting qualit-

--Want to know why the characters are so horribly underdeveloped? WELL SCREW YOU: You have to pay me $30 to unlock the rest of this review!

Multiple DLC's have been confirmed containing both het, and tentacles. Dharker's practices (currently and in the past) as an indie dev reeks of money grubbing. The developers transparent desire to cash in on fetishes with het dlc for Negligee and what's going on with Galaxy Girls leaves buyers a bad taste. Yuri is seen as just a fetish to bank on.

I understand if all you want is to look at nicely done, lewd, 2d art.
Believe me, if you just want to flick the bean/milk the sausage, I recommend you look at the screenshots. Negligee is a far better option, if you want a yuri option with a similar art style.

As of October, I will say that it's nice of dharker to address the backlash of having overly-complicated routes in their game with an update that added an "easy" mode.
Will dharker further listen to the concerns of its fans in the future? Maybe. Or maybe only the ones who throw enough money on their kickstarter page?

Only time can tell, as Dharker's fandom remain split. Fans that have purchased dharkers' content. Fans that have supported them on kickstarter. Fans that have told others to buy dharker's games. Fans -which have now been burnt by that very same developer.

Fans: something I no longer am for dharker studios.

Well, to begin - I am not some review writing person, I tend to write reviews about games I really like. So, obviously I really like this game. So, if you just wanted to know that, no need to read further. Haha.

Anyways, I had been looking forward to this game for a while. I typically snatch up any Dharker Studio game since I discovered Negligee. While I have not been disappointed in any of them, I was caught off guard when the main character was male (Army Gals and Battle Girls, this one has a FEMALE MAIN CHARACTER as does NEGLIGEE).

I really like the plot of this one, many seem to not have in reviews I've glanced at. I found the plot very awkward at first, as any mysterious plot would begin as, and has a really neat idea and I really liked it a lot! Oh, I think you may have thought I was going to spoil the plot, no way. After I bought the game, I was so entranced in the plot, I finally made it past this one part (this was before they added in easy mode) and found the game went a whole lot more! Which was nice! After about a good 15 hour run, I managed to acquire all the achievements and see every tidbit of story I could find and I liked how actually going through all the paths, leads you to learn more about the plot and all the characters.

I don't know much about visual novels, so I don't know all these Japanese terms people seem to be using.

So, I found the plot nice, the game was fun, and going down all the many paths was educational on the story. I should ask myself some questions that you all may like to know the answer to. Maybe I should try to mimic the pro reviewer thing.

Pros:
English Visual Novel
Nice Artwork
Very cool sci-fi plot
Homosexuality
Took a lot of hours to get through it
More season pass stuff to look forward to

Normal: (Spoilers?)
My ship blew up a lot
Sara is a crazy bitch (which was hot)
Kotoha is stupid (which was hot)
Emilia is a nympho (which was hot)

Cons: (More spoilers?)
Erica never slapped the shit out of Sara (would have been hot)
Having to learn Japanese to understand what some of these reviewers are even talking about
I am not good at this Pro/Con Stuff

I hope you enjoyed my review! Maybe one day I will be good at this. Either way, the game is awesome to me!

---I edited this to make it more clear of what games I was referring to with male main characters.

I have not played the game since the September 21st update with "easy mode," but I actually appreciated the difficulty of getting "good endings." I played through probably a dozen times, each one ending in the first, disastrous possibility, before successfully making it over that hurdle and getting the chance to explore the some of the many other endings. For me, that just made it all the more enjoyable when I finally succeeded. I have enjoyed the challenge of figuring out how each character feels and reacts to my actions, and I was glad that, in many instances, there was no obvious "best choice."

For example, early in the game, when talking to Kotoha, you're given the chance to ask her about her likes, her dislikes, or her previous life on Earth. None of these three choices jumps out as an obvious "pick me to advance relationship" option, which makes it all the more interesting in my mind.

From there, the different character routes still offer multiple outcomes, both positive and negative, I look forward to putting several more hours into this game and seeing what happens.

I would also like to add that I find the chibi-style DLC placeholders to be fairly amusing, and I kind of hope they'll still be available somewhere to read through once the DLCs come out. It's obvious to me that a lot of work has gone into this game, and I can recommend it for both the challenge and the excellent art style.

My biggest "complaint" would likely be that there isn't *more* to the mystery of why these women are in space. I found myself wishing there was even more background to dig up on each of the characters, and on the organization that sent them into space. Maybe there will be in the DLC or in further playthroughs.

A yuri VN by Dharker Studios. The art style is my favorite among the variety of games by Dharker. Not counting my idle time, it took around 5-6 hours of play to get every ending. I'm satisfied with what I bought even if it's a bit short. I did purchase the DLC too, so I'll hope to see more yuri and ero in those later additions.

Kotoha>Emilia>Sara
I liked Kotoha's route the most for her peppy character and went through it first. Sara's initial sass from the start cemented my initial impressions of her. I pretty much trudged through her route extremely reluctantly for completionist reasons. Emilia was in the middle since I had a route I liked and one I hated.

I was a tad disappointed that this game didn't wow me enough to take over 1st place from Negligee for the games released by Dharker, but I got sweet erotic yuri so I can't really complain.

Overall I would give the game a 7/10 right now.

There's a lot of things wrong with this game. As soon as you open the game you're prompted to buy DLC. As soon as you try to start the game you're again encouraged to buy DLC.

The prologue lasts forever, and the story is pretty boring.

I've liked almost all Dharker Studios games, but this is the first I've ever refunded.

The art design of this game is very good but it feel's short. Also the price is kinda high, should be around 10 USD (in my opinion), as well as the DLC's price. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it for 13 USD on it's current state. Buying Battle Girls is a better option I believe.

tl;dr: A decent ~4-10 hour yuri VN about a group of women finding themselves on a space craft far away from anyone they've ever known. Not perfectly written, but enjoyable. Basically an overhaul for Blossoms Bloom Brightest, though it retains a lot of the original dialogue.
If you're a slave to the goddesses of yuri, buy it. Otherwise, stay away.

Most important thing first: Two of the routes are—even with the uncensor patch—rather light on lewd content, the third on the other hand is quite steamy. So keep that in mind; mashing muffs is the strawberry on top, not the entire cake.

If you have played Blossoms Bloom Brightest, this is a continuation of it. Or more precisely, it doesn't bring the story much further, but instead fleshes it out with more scenes and a new character. And bigger mammaries.

Let's get the negatives out early:

  • The text field cannot be adjusted in height or transparence
  • Save slots are limited to a meager six
  • Some choices are not quite clear as to how they would affect a character's path and will require some trial and error at worst to get the desired endings
  • The premise and backstory is nothing to write home about, really, and littered with plot holes if you think about it too hard. Some are explained, but sorry mate, I'm not buying that
  • [*]On the same note, the "big reveal" (that they're all genetically altered) could have been used a lot more. It felt like there was hardly any point to it at all

The art is splendid and clean all throughout. Dharker had some rather amateurish art and styles I didn't personally enjoy in the past, but this one hits the nail quite nicely. Complements the overall themes and atmosphere, no weird faces or impossible postures and quite an amount of detail, especially on the backgrounds.
Same for the music. Fitting futuristic-sounding tunes all throughout, blending in easily with the scenes. None struck me as particularly catchy or noteworthy, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing; they don't distract you from reading.
The story is no Shakespearean drama, although a drama it is. It focuses mainly on the characters and their rather solitary lives on a space ship. And of course, you, the protagonist, are gunning for either some sort of romance or face a bad end. Speaking of the characters, I found them rather refreshing. Without spoiling much, they're diverse, each with their own sets of more or less serious issues. The resulting interactions might be angsty and overdramatised at times, but I've never been put off by them and they get mostly resolved in a timely manner.
The smut is fine. As I said, it is not the main focus, although a lot of scenes contain erotic undertones and flirting. It is a romance-heavy novel, after all. An additional erotic scene for each character is gated behind perfectly picking all the right choices. Someone in the guide section figured them out already, go check the bonus endings there if you have trouble.

There will be be DLCs further down the line. An odd choice, for a visual novel, and one I cannot agree with, from a player's perspective. At this point, I cannot say anything about these, but they appear to be background stories for each character and one extra—possibly quite lewd—chapter.

The pricing seems fair to me. 13 euro or your regional equivalent™ and the same again for the season pass. What you get for it is a decent short-medium length yuri visual novel with nice art—although it's mostly grey space ship interiors—fitting music and a crew that might have been better off with a psychiatrist instead of a doctor.

Addendum:
With all DLCs now out and played through, all I can say is that it was a rather mediocre experience altogether. As I said in the beginning, if you're desperate, get it, if not, don't.
