I don,t like this game. Some things are just hard to find/to do. The other games are more fun from big loop studios
Lil Jon and Metallica Review Dreamcage Escape
Scene: The living room of a massive tour bus. Lil Jon and the members of Metallica—James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo—are sprawled on a couch, controllers in hand, ready to dive into the mysterious world of Dreamcage Escape. A gigantic monitor dominates the room, glowing eerily.
Lil Jon: "Aight, y’all, we ‘bout to ESCAPE this DREAMCAGE! Let’s GO!"
James Hetfield: "YEAAAAAAAH! Dream it, escape it, LOVE it!"
Lil Jon: "YEAAAAH! LET'S GET IT!"
Kirk Hammett: "Let’s not get cocky. This is a puzzle game. We might have to use our brains."
Lars Ulrich: "Hey, I solved the Rubik’s Cube on tour once."
Lil Jon: "Bruh, it was pre-solved, and you peeled the stickers off!"
(The game begins, with its striking visuals. The camera pans across the intricate world inside the cage.)
Robert Trujillo: "Wow, this is nuts. It’s like Salvador Dalí had a nightmare and turned it into a puzzle."
James Hetfield: "YEAAAAAAAH! Look at that lighting! The shadows! The details! It’s METAL AS HELL."
Lil Jon: "YEAAAAAH! For real, this art style is fire. Like, I’d hang this on my wall. But yo… where’s the tutorial at?!"
(A small pop-up tutorial box appears, explaining basic mechanics in excruciating detail.)
Lars Ulrich: "Oh, there it is. And it’s talking to us like we’ve never seen a mouse before."
James Hetfield: "Drag the block? Rotate the thing? YEAAAAAAH, thanks, game. We GET IT!"
Lil Jon: "Bruh, this tutorial’s holding my hand tighter than my mama in a haunted house. YEAAAAH!"
(They finally enter the first real puzzle, an intuitive sliding mechanism. They solve it with ease.)
Kirk Hammett: "Alright! Not bad, not bad. That was satisfying. It’s like when you land the perfect solo."
James Hetfield: "YEAAAAAH! That puzzle’s down for the COUNT!"
Lil Jon: "DOWN FOR THE COUNT! YEAAAAAH!"
(The next puzzle involves timing-based precision. Everyone fails repeatedly. Controllers slam against thighs.)
Lil Jon: "Oh, COME ON, game! I gotta time this perfectly, align these pieces, AND press a button? What is this, an audition for Cirque du Soleil?!"
Lars Ulrich: "This is straight-up cruelty. It’s like trying to hit a snare while blindfolded during a drum solo."
James Hetfield: (suddenly melodramatic) "Alas, fair puzzle! Thy timing is so cruel, thy logic so merciless! Why dost thou test our spirits so?"
Lil Jon: (dramatically responding) "OH JAMES! THOU DOST SPEAK THE TRUTH! YEAAAAH! Shall we EVER escape this infernal cage of riddles?!"
Kirk Hammett: (breaking character) "Guys, stop. You’re scaring me. Get back to the game."
Robert Trujillo: "This is what happens when we have too much downtime on tour."
(A loud, unsettling sound effect suddenly blares as they progress to the next section. Everyone jumps.)
James Hetfield: "YEAAAAAH—HOLY—What WAS THAT?!"
Lil Jon: "Bruh, this game just screamed in my face! YEAAAAH! Like, CHILL! Ain’t nobody here for a horror game!"
Lars Ulrich: "That wasn’t even a scary sound, it was just obnoxious. Like someone dropped a drum kit down the stairs."
Kirk Hammett: "I think they’re trying to scare us. But this isn’t a horror game… right?"
Lil Jon: "YEAAAAH! They’re tryna mix genres, but nah. Stick to puzzles, cage game. You ain’t Silent Hill."
(After calming down, they tackle another visually stunning level. Everyone pauses to admire the design.)
Robert Trujillo: "Okay, credit where it’s due. This world-building? This vibe? It’s incredible."
James Hetfield: "YEAAAAAAH! It’s like walking through the concept art of an epic prog-metal album."
Lil Jon: "YEAAAAH! Facts. I could just vibe in this world, drink my crunk juice, and be happy. But these puzzles… YEAAAAH!"
(They hit a particularly unclear puzzle. Nobody knows what to do.)
Lars Ulrich: "Alright, so… what even is this? Where’s the hint?!"
James Hetfield: "It’s like they dropped us in the middle of a jam session and said, ‘Figure it out, bro!’"
Lil Jon: "YEAAAAH! Man, this puzzle’s got less direction than my GPS in the woods!"
(Finally, after brute-forcing a solution, they complete the game. Everyone leans back, exhausted.)
Kirk Hammett: "Okay… that was an experience. Not sure if I’m smarter or just more stressed."
Robert Trujillo: "It’s got some good stuff, but man, those clunky controls and random sounds? Tough love."
Lars Ulrich: "But hey, those visuals? They deserve an award. They carried the whole thing."
Lil Jon: "YEAAAAH! The art style is like… a Grammy-level vibe. The puzzles? More like a participation trophy."
James Hetfield: "YEAAAAAH! Dreamcage Escape: beautiful, ambitious, but man… FIX. THE. PUZZLES."
(They all raise their hands in mock victory as the camera pans out, with Enter Sandman starting to play in the background.)

Ryan George Style Pitch Meeting – Dreamcage Escape
Publisher: So, you have a dreamlike puzzle game for me?
Game Designer: Yes, sir, I do! It’s called Dreamcage Escape, a surreal puzzle adventure where players explore interconnected dream worlds and solve abstract puzzles!
Publisher: Exploring dream worlds? That’s tight! So, what’s the story?
Game Designer: There isn’t one!
Publisher: Oh.
Game Designer: But there’s an implied story! Like, maybe players are trapped in a mysterious, metaphorical situation—or maybe not. Who knows?
Publisher: So players are escaping from… vibes?
Game Designer: Exactly! They’ll solve puzzles and feel really smart until they hit one of the hard ones!
Publisher: Hard puzzles? What makes them hard?
Game Designer: Oh, you know, the usual: cryptic hints, random pixel clicking, and occasionally requiring knowledge of ancient Sanskrit.
Publisher: Oh my god.
Game Designer: And some puzzles are so obscure that even we don’t remember how they work!
Publisher: That sounds infuriating.
Game Designer: Not if you call it “immersive”!
Publisher: Fair enough. So what’s the gameplay vibe?
Game Designer: It’s super relaxing—beautiful visuals, ambient music, very chill.
Publisher: Relaxing? That’s tight!
Game Designer: And then, BAM! We hit players with a random loud noise to scare the daylights out of them.
Publisher: Wait, what?
Game Designer: What?
Publisher: Why would you throw random jump scares into a relaxing puzzle game?
Game Designer: So players stay vigilant! They’ll be terrified of their own mouse clicks.
Publisher: Oh my god.
Game Designer: And people who enjoy hearing loud noises for no reason!
Publisher: Okay, now it’s getting weird.
Game Designer: Well, I’m gonna need you to get all the way off my back about that.
Publisher: Alright, let me get off of that thing.
Game Designer: Perfect!
Publisher: So, what kind of audience are we targeting?
Game Designer: Oh, people who love beautiful art, mysterious worlds, and hate having any idea what’s going on.
Publisher: Oh, very specific.
Game Designer: And also hardcore puzzle fans who like yelling, “Why won’t this work?!” at their screens for hours.
Publisher: Very broad.
Game Designer: And casual players who refund the game after the first loud noise.
Publisher: So what’s the feedback been like?
Game Designer: Oh, mixed. People love the art style and vibes, but they’re not super thrilled about the random scares, unclear puzzles, and the feeling that we just hate them.
Publisher: So we’ll address those issues?
Game Designer: Absolutely not!
Publisher: Well, okay then!
Game Designer: Great!
Cue outro music.

Dreamcage Escape: A Poetic Reflection
In cages vast where dreams reside,
A puzzle-bound surreal divide.
Through crafted doors of painted art,
The mind must seek to play its part.
Each twist of logic, each mystic key,
Unlocks a path, though not easily.
The whispers loud, the silence rare,
A sudden scare disturbs the air.
Yet beauty lingers, soft and deep,
In this strange world where mysteries sleep.
Through fractured dreams, the puzzles twist,
In realms unknown, we still persist.
The truth eludes, but still we chase,
A fleeting hope in endless space.
Puzzle 12 requires impossibly precise positioning and semi-resets itself after each try. It's basically softlocking the game.
Some of the graphics are iffy and the game isn't long enough, but the puzzles are fun to figure out. You basically go through 16 stages trying to find the exit by solving rudimentary puzzles related to numbers, using a screwdriver to unscrew something, etc. It's much easier than a game like Myst but does contain a few challenging segments. There are a couple parts that require slight math or memorization skills but it's at a grade school level.
With that said the hardest thing about the game is knowing where to click. There is one particular puzzle that I got stuck at because I needed to apply the inverse solution, which in itself seemed nonsensical but made logical sense in terms of how the puzzle works. The game takes a couple hours to complete and you need to collect 40 coins scattered through the maps to unlock the final puzzle room and get to the ending screen. If you like this game, I recommend Doors: Paradox as it is a more graphically enhanced version of a similar concept.
Great game! Really well designed puzzles. Worth your time!
Its ALRIGHT. took me about an hour and a half.
i wouldnt consider it replayable
Im going to go ahead and refund this game, its 2 bucks so fair enough but it had a mild ammount of jank, it was very easy, and all steam achievements are bugged and unobtainable.
I enjoyed the game, but if you are after achievements, skip this one - they don't work. They've been a known issue since 2016 (it's 2024).
