Love, Guitars, and the Nashville Skyline

The first thing you realize when you fire up Love, Guitars, and the Nashville Skyline is that it is incredibly poorly written. I don't know if it is a bad translation or if both versions are bad but it talks in weird circles.

For example the plot kicks off with Amanda's job becoming a 70 hour a week nightmare, then suddenly she has her boss make her take off two weeks, but then they have to call her back in because she had the only copy of work they needed, I guess she went and gave it back? but then she's just suddenly off on her trip in Nashville. What? None of that made sense. All of the writing is like that, going back and forth all william-nilliam.

The second thing you will realize is that whoever wrote this has definitely never been to America, let alone Nashville. It's weird in small places like Amanda walking down the street eating fried chicken and cornbread; two things that are decidedly not portable foods.

The third thing you realize is that this romance is going to be mad skeevy. Their first sexual encounter is with Amanda black-out drunk and Juliet 100% sober, then it somehow devolves more by constantly having Amanda refer to Juliet as a child.

I'm going for a refund, I don't want to see any more of this poorly written trainwreck. And it's not like I'm missing anything because they also made the baffling decision to have the intro sequence show you the whole entire story.

you dont see any sex scenes. you just hear them talking useless girl stuff and ideas about pony tails and bullsh...

kinda dull, lack of variety in outfits and anything interesting happens off screen :-(

I signed up for a cute f/f romance. I didn't sign up for the two women having nonconsensual sex offscreen (because when one of them is so drunk they literally don't remember the next morning, it's DEFINITELY not consensual).

The art and voice-acting isn't worth that bs. Absolutely requesting a refund.

Really disappointing. Story starts in interesting and funny way but over time it becomes evident that plot is just aimless. Whoever wrote this had good initial idea but then filled it with sometimes very random elements and occasional ramblings. Also there's completely implausible turn of events at one point and that just leaves bad taste. Ending also doesn't make up for it at all. I have to mention that for me the experience of living on the road shown in this game did not feel very authentic.

On a good note voice acting and character design are really good and romance bits are cute, although pacing is a bit weird. Might be worth trying if you are starved for romance and compared to other titles from genre it's alright but I can't shake off my disappointment as my expectations were quite high.

going into this i really thought it'd be good, but like. it really wasn't.
the biggest thing that struck me was the voice acting. it isn't bad, it's more so that it feels really, really out of place. especially when they're in america. and aren't japanese. it doesn't really blend well with the story??
also, like,,, it just wasn't very well written. it's incredibly rushed and actually made me pretty uncomfortable at certain points. it just felt like porn with somewhat of a plot. thats the best way to describe it. and it's very clear that this was meant to be targeted towards straight men who think lesbians are hot.
i got it on sale so i'm not gonna complain about the price, but i wouldn't buy it for full price.
also, after having patched it myself, i wish i hadn't. it costs $5 more if you wanna buy it patched, but like,,,, don't bother. it's genuinely really really uncomfortable unless you're one of the straight men mentioned above. you might like it then, dunno.
in the end, it felt like a huge chore to read. there were points where i just wanted to drop it completely.

OK, it's not 6 hours. It's 90 minutes. It has great potential but just falls off a cliff because it clearly ran out of budget or writer's interest by then.

I can't possibly recommend this. It could have been great, if it was finished. But it's not and as it stands, there are dozens of better VNs out there to spend your money on. Thumbs down.

What a piece of garbage. I thought this was going to be a game where you would be allowed to make choices on the ending, but no it’s more or less a video short story. It’s not even in English it’s in Japanese, the story is completely implausible and almost everything in in the story puts a negative spin on every male person in the story and it portrays them as rapists and abusers. It paints a negative light on the immigration policy, military policy and exaggerates LGBT concerns for the United States even takes a swipe at religion. The only part that was funny when they talked about loyalty to the main characters employer, you can tell the game was created by someone that has never been to the United Sates and just relies on stereotypes that the Japanese have on what the United Sates is like. Save your money and buy something else.

So at first glance this game seems like a visual novel with no thought or heart into. But thats not the case at all. It delves into a lot real life problems and situations. Yes some of the story seem unrealistc but that can be excused because it doesnt detract from the game at all. This is kinetic Visual novel. Meaning no choices are made, just sit back and enjoy the story of these two girls as they travel from Nashville to New York. For me it really hit the heart in a few things. I could tell the creators put a lot of thought and love into the story. The background cards aren't all that great, being stock pictures of real life places or something but the character designs were enjoyable, the music was soothing and fun to listen to and the story kept me engaged. I dont know if its worth $10 bucks per se but it is worth money for sure. Pick this is up if you enjoy Yuri, country music or just music in general and fairl good story.

Conclusion

This was like experiencing a buddy comedy movie, but more gay and romantic. I love the light that it shines on the struggles of not just lesbians, but women in general. It's really powerful, emotional, and adorable. Also, representaion; fuck yeah! The game explains and says more for itself than I could.

If you wanna play a game where a lesbian inexplicably kidnaps a child, this is the game for you! The very badly written game. Don't play this game. Also, Nashville doesn't have a dry heat.

This was a beautiful story and I loved the roadtrip through the south! The story is realistic and relatable. Visuals were nice and accurate to the cities they were representing. Really good job. A lot of love went into this project. I would love a part two or to see a similar theme explored.

This is an interesting novella. The protagonist is Amanda, who works at an advertising agency. A huge project under her care collapsed because of a snafu at the printers, and has been put on paid leave. Unfortunately, she has no idea what to do, since work has been her life since college.

For some reason, she decides to go to Nashville. Probably a whim. And there she meets Juliet, an aspiring musician. They immediately hit it off. (Seriously, the second night ends with them sleeping together.) And together they start an 800-mile trip back to New York (where Amanda is based out of). Along the way, love grows stronger... and is then tested as issues from Juliet's past rear up.

Still an interesting read.

As someone who regularly enjoys yuri visual novels (as you might be able to tell from my most played games), Love, Guitars, and the Nashville Skyline is a bit of an unsteady recommendation. I'll list my points below.

For starters, the story moves at a weirdly fast pace. The romance is basically instant, and the plot points later in seem to just drop from the sky, instead of being built up towards. It felt really weird and sometimes forced.

There was a bit more of an overt political tone in some of the dialogue, and I can fully see that making people quite uncomfortable if they're in it for the long-haul (like I was). A certain political point regarding war might strike badly with people, especialy.

The game seems shockingly anti-Catholic. I understand that the Church has been pretty staunch on their resistance to homosexuality (especially under the former Pope, Benedict), but this painted Catholics as unfeeling twats that are only capable of hating lesbians, something that I don't really see the need for. It felt, like the political aspects, rather forced.

My biggest gripe of all, bar none, was how what I would call the "major" plot twist was not only out of the blue, but it turned Juliet into an absolute cunt for what felt to be absolutely no reason. I had more times than I could count where I stared at the screen, this incredulous look upon my face, as I witnessed the biggest and most bizarre temper tantrum that I had ever seen. It felt really out of place, all things considered.

However, even with all of this here, I still give the game my recommendation. The music choice is very, very solid, as is the art, and I still felt a bit emotional at times, where it was appropriate. The story is still a good read, just..a bit odd at times. So if you're a fan of yuri, as much as I am, then I can recommend this to you fully. If you are looking for something to get into the genre, I'd recommend Highway Blossoms over this, followed by Flowers. A Little Lily Princess, and Nurse Love Addiction. However, don't put this game to the side; it's certainly worth picking up, especially on sale.

A very fun and emotional story, took me a short while to get into it but I liked it alot. I loved the music, I could listen to that any time. Overall, I feel that it was a good story and I recommend this even more for people who are fans of Yuri

A very compelling and down to earth story. There's a bit of political discourse (LGBT, race, family issue) here and there, but a still enjoyable experience.

I ask the developers about adult patch/version of the game. Here is their response:

"Thank you for writing in. The two versions are separate - so you would need to buy the 18+ version from denpasoft"

So you if you buy this game on steam, as i did, you will not get nude gilrs at all. The vast majority of VN game on steam got the adult patch for free but not this one. Why i should buy the same game twice to get full content? What a bullshit

Full Disclosure: I only played 7 minutes of it and didnt really pay attention. But do note, that it was a boring and tedious 7 minutes, even WITH the girl in her underwear scene. I would only play this game if you liked Adult visual novels a lot, if not, this is a NOPE.
