Last Days of Spring 2 is a very good visual novel game with a beautiful story. The graphics are nice and the soundtrack is Chill and relaxing... As good as the first one, I recommend it. 💗💗💗
Failed to make me want to read more, and full of unnecessary reading.
Too short to be called a story
Well, that pretty much sums up everything. The visual novel looked promising so I picked it up during a sale; little did I know I would be done in an hour with this story...
First things first, I won't recommend it. I did like the characters and character art but that's pretty much it. The story is extraordinary shallow. It seems like character development took a vacation together with reason on the same weekend: there isn't anything to develop in such a short time and any romance option is completely awkward. I decided to spend a day with Yuri and all I could do was randomly kiss her at a certain point. That just boggles my mind!
Those "more than 25.000 words" consist mostly of idle chatter about what the characters are doing and what their relationships have been (aaand that impressive menu at the restaurant). Any progression is painfully absent. I don't know what I've missed from the previous novel, but I'm glad I didn't buy it. I'm so disappointed with this game. :(
HOLD ON JUST A FUCKING MINUTE!? Was the first one intentionally made to be shitty? Casue this one surpasses it in every conceivable fashion. This one has somewhat of a better story, as well it being longer in length, the characters are actually fully designed and look 100x better and their personalities, although changed slightly due to passing of time, still remain familiar and unique to themselves. The backgrounds weren't cheap inserts, either. I'm pissed, but in a good way. Why is this one so much better, like I genuinely enjoyed this one? Fuck it, y'know what, fine, I'll just accept it. Please don't change how this one is. If this is to mess with us...bravo. That takes real skill and balls to do that to your audience.
This game is a follow-up to Last Days of Spring. It takes place five years after the first volume, and adds to the tale of that game. Though, I am still unsure if it wraps up anything. I mean, you can end up with one of three people (though another end I think you end up very dead... don't be a lightning rod).
It is a fun little read, so if you liked the first one, why not continue the tale?
In “Last Days of Spring 2” we follow in the steps of the Hayabusa Academy gang five years after they’ve graduated. They’ve all finished University now and are beginning their lives as young adults. It’s not necessary to play the first installment to get the gist of what’s going on, I personally didn’t play it but happened on a Let’s Play of it about a year ago. I enjoyed the story so when I saw that the sequel was out I bought it. I did want to have a go at the first one but from what I could see in the video and on the store page for it, it was mostly a kinetic novel anyway so I decided to give it a skip (even though I did pick up a copy anyway haha). Anyway on to the categories:
Themes
Much like “Last Days of Spring 1” the theme is about growing up and finding your place in the world but has other added themes too like the importance of friendship, responsibility and family. The themes are a lot more diverse and subtle in this game and are less obvious.
Art
HUGE improvement in the sequel! The sprites are way nicer than before and are A class, they look like they were ordered from Japan. Probably the best sprites I’ve ever seen from this developer. The oil painting backgrounds are utterly charming, really loved that too. I have to say that this is one of the most colorful and artistic games I’ve played in a while and it was absolute candy for the eye.
Music & Audio
Little or no use of SFX and the button sound is really weird, I think they need to improve that as I found it rather distracting.. The music was fantastic, really loved the organic sounding guitar themes, which really had a nice log cabin forest feel.
Gameplay
Usual Dating Sim style with no minigame. Lots of choices given the length of the game (good choice per word ratio if you understand what I mean). Pretty standard and nothing special in this respect and I found some of the choices a bit random.
UI
Very nice and fitting with the outdoors theme.
Story & Length
Took me about 2 hours to do a single run, I’m a relatively fast reader so maybe 2 and a half for more “normal” readers. I believe there are 2 or 3 main arcs but I haven’t unlocked them all yet. I like the story a lot, continued well from the last game and I enjoyed the dialogue between characters a lot. I got the non-romantic ending, I may try it again to try to get one of the romantic endings but honestly I enjoyed it anyway and felt like it was a realistic outcome given my choices. It was, above all, realistic and perhaps could have had more drama to add some falvor to it, but I’m not too unhappy about it either as it made for a very easy and relaxing read.
Must say that I found Aya’s character utterly charming and I do hope that they release a version of this game from a man’s perspective (as this is an otome) as I would love to have an option for an “Aya” ending.
Conclusion
I liked this game. It was charming, heartfelt and often times funny. The characters were realistic and it really felt like a reunion with friends. Reminded me a lot of the time I went drove to Marseille from Paris with my university friends right after exams. Might have preferred it if it was a tad longer but the length felt good enough for me. Recommended 7/10.
It’s funny because I hated the first game… But I ended up enjoying the sequel a bit? lol
It’s not the best visual novel around, that’s for sure. But it’s readable. The romance routes felt awkward too since things tend to happen out of the blue. It’s definitely a huge improvement since the first game, and that’s why I recommend it. The characters are a bit more developed here, so I could sympathize with them a little. The art style is also pretty.
4/10. Get it only on a good sale and if you’re curious to know what happened after the first game.
After playing the first game which was a japanese background with eurocentric feel, I was quite suprised to read this one was set in the US and has all the same Japanese gang back. Story was very nice continuation, even though I did end the first game alone to have coffee. I can see quite a few improvements in the overall quality. I think the price was reasonable and the experience was generally entertaining with chilled out background tunes. My main issue is I would say taking the characters outside of Japan made it obvious that the only thing Japanese about this game is the character names. I also had no clue how the text speeds worked for a while and it was not covered in the game or in the forum questions.

If you liked “Last Days of Spring” then definitely get it. If you thought it was just ok then wait on a sale but do get it eventually, as it is a major improvement on the last game!
Don't bother with this. It costs twice as much as the original with seemingly half of the effort put in. The story is bad, the visuals are lazy and the music is so so.
I honestly have nothing good to say about this experiance. There is zero romance in this game at all. The romance paths are horribly done. The most natural and best ending is where you end up alone. Any and all of the romance paths feel totally forced and half assed. One has you hanging out and catching up and the choice you get is to kiss them randomly or do nothing.
This was totally phoned in for a fast buck. I really enjoyed the first game, but this hot steaming mess is not worth your time. This game was so bad I may never buy from this dev again.
