Not sure what everyone else is on about. This game is worth every bit of $3, just don't expect a game worth above that. I've spent 10 hours or more in offline mode probably. It's hard to get 10 hours of anything for $3.

The Short of it: I'd reccommend this, but ONLY on a pretty good sale, and for a casual player of odd indie games. Reminds me of "50 Years" if you've played that. Simplified kingdom simulator with pixil graphics. 5/10.
I don't understand how anyone dislikes a game like this. It's fun and has replayability. Nice sim, achievements for hunters and that certain something that makes this game great! One of the best games that is priced too low
Discovered this game through coupon drop from crafting.
On the moment when I was writting this review game was buggy and did not launched on my SteamOS machine as well as few minor glitches. (I hope it will be patched by the time you reading my review)
After a few quick deaths in game I read the guide how to survive.
The game goal seems is to survive for 100 turns and you will get a ending depending of your playstyle. But game ends after 100th turn and It is sad because around that moment you are really getting hyped for more.
Game is missing noticeable female characters (a.k.a. waifus).
For me this game was an nice introduction to a genre of economical strategies.
Update: It seems Game Maker games do crash if you got 2 displays connected to the one Steam Machine.

This game was fun. Trying to build your city was a bit hard tho and I wish it had a few more year pass events
I got my money's worth out of it. It's cheap and fun. It feels like a simplified Kairosoft game.
A casual strategy/management game with meager content and atrocious repetitiveness.
Pros:
+ Runs on any computer
+ Pleasant pixel graphics
+ Music is nice though repetitive
+ Intriguing achievements
Cons:
- All fights are the same
- Fighting is just watching units killing each other, you on't make any strategic decision
- Economy is boring and frustrating
- Random events are classified into four kinds accoring how far you are in the game, meaning that you will get them multiple times for each step
Verdict: Casual yet not easy, repetitive and bland, this game probable is probably best to be forgotten. Essentially lacks fun.
Details:
This game works in turns. You have an interface which is your town and each turn, you click on various buildings to manage your "kingdom". Forge creates armors for units, barracks allow you to hire units (5 of them, but boils down to 3 basically), and market allows you to sell goods. You can build buildings to increase the income of these goods. When you end your turn, random events can happen, with choices to be done, or you can face off an orc assault.
You have to balance your gold, population increase, popularity (to my mind the hardest to deal with since I could not quite figure out which missing supplies were making every one to become unhappy).
The game suffers from two things: randomness (if you have to face off heavy orc attacks for two or three turns in a row and if the market prices are low, then you keep loosing army and money). Vicious circles are extremely punishing: the smaller your army, the more losses you get, so you have to hire more units than if your army were big in the first place; unpopularity means loss of money so you cannot build the buildings to get the goods people want, etc. Once the balance is tipping off, you feel like you are doomed to fall, which is not a good feeling in a game. It does not feel challenging, it feels unbalanced.
If you add the fact that all turns look the same, all fights are exactly the same (poorly animated units strike at each other in the most boring way and then you get a statistics account of the battle), you are left with something pretty much devoid of fun, though not without qualities.
This isn't really a No vote from me, dispite the thumbs down. It just wasn't really what i was expecting. I like the concept of running a kindom, but there just wasn't enough, in terms of setting laws, and ordenences and stuff like that. It is a fun little game i guess. its just not my thing as it is.

Review
Survival Kingdom is an enjoyable little game that I am happy that I played. It's not life changing or super amazing, but it's a solid little game. You take charge of a very small town and help them grow. You need to keep the people happy as well get enough gold to buy troops so you can hold back the waves of orcs. You bump into some cool events that are pretty fun too. If you have only a few dollars left in your steam wallet and if you are looking for a game that you can play for a few hours then this is the game for you.

Nice game. I have complete it in a few hours.

Now I do enjoy hard games but this game is just down right torture.
You lose troops way faster than you can replace them, and in one game I got attacked 3 seasons in a row in the very start of the game. I lose before i could even hope to mount up a defense. However, I am sure others will love it. So I should perhaps try to be a bit objective.
You run a kingdom thats under attack by orcs, you need to produce soldiers and keep a good economy going so you can afford the troops and armor (which works as a chance to save a soldier that gets killed) to survive against the orc horde. Where you decide to fight has a huge impact on the troops, if you have a lot of archers choose a battle field they will be superior over the orcs cavalery. These battle choices can easily make your day. However the random spawning of attacks is really fierce, seeing as most of the time you permanently lose your soldiers if they are wounded unless you have enough armor, in that case you lose the armor not the soldier. The economy aspect of the game is really simple so it isnt really fun to manage it, it is pretty straight forward get the production of food up to maximize soldiers you can have, you need gold to train soldiers and armor so important to get goods you can sell for a nice amount but do not forget to upgrade the buildings so that you get more income ect. Simple management game with torturing combat.
Two hours in and nothing has changed. No story has unfolded. No new buildings were unlocked. No economic chain revealed itself. I made a lot of food and sold it to buy buildings that made more food. I kept an army of mages fortified at the only bridge between my kingdom and the orcs.
I had to ask for a refund on this one as I couldn't play due to the screen resolution cutting off the lower part of the screen. Checking the options menu I only saw a toggle box for tutorial and a scroll bar to adjust tooltip speed. No way to adjust music, dissable fullscreen or adjust the resolution to something that wouldn't cut off part of the screen.
Can't recomend it when this will be a problemb to some people.

I GAVE A THUMBS UP TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEW THAT SAYS THE 1ST TURN IS THE SAME AS THE 85TH.
That said, it took me a few hours to figure out.

This game is Worth the $3 Really its more then worth it i like the how the farther you get into the game the more intense it get more war and such
This is a simple town management game with periodic automated battles in between turns. If you're the type of player who enjoys optimizing your build/approach on successive runs, then there is definitely some fun to be had here.
I don't think it will have much lasting appeal once you figure the system out, but there is enough meat on the bones to justify the meager asking price.
Survival Kingdom is a mixture of Warsong on Mega Drive and Kaiser on C64 with 16 bit graphics.
Why i dont recommend it?
1. The bigger the population, the mooooooooooore food you need; ive had nearly 6000 people and the farm, bakery and mills on lvl 12 and my people have not food at all
the only problem is, every update of the building costs more and more money, on higher levels the prices are so high you cant nearly invest on other things properly
2. Some monsters and enemies are fucking overpowered, the minotauros f.e. killed nearly 900 soldiers of my army (2400)
3. In the battle there is not tactic, its a simulation....big army vs. small army you win/ small army vs. big army you are f.u.c.k.e.d. !!!!!
4. You know the prices of the updates, but not the exact data how much exactly

Sry, but iam really disappointed....try older games like Kaiser, Warsong, Shining Force...but not this crap!

But in summary, i cant recommend the game at now!!
Ive tried the game more than 15 times and every time i got screwed.
First scenario, i focus on economy and public welfare, but keep the army in numbers (and armors) but orcs came in masses....
Secoundly, wellbalanced economy, army and public w., but the game punished me with misfortune, economic breakdown, and masses of orcs...
Thirdly, heavyly investing in all, no reserves in money; big army, lots of people, high rate of update in welfare, but less food, not lots of stuff to sell, no money....games final strike...big bad minotaurus killed 800 soldiers, then an orc army of 3000 kicked my ass....busted!!!
Aaaalright, it took me 95 minutes to beat it.
Now i will refu... no, i was just joking ;)
It is a little game that reminds me on the early '90s, it is not very long,
but i had fun for almost 2 hours, be it only for the nostalgica.
Look over there *points to the bridge at the entrace of his kingdom*...
-you see a giant pile of dead orcs in front of an old, huge stone bridge that is stained with blood-
I gave those fuckers what they needed. My work is done.
