Only 3 levels, and a training mode, still had a blast playing this.
My only major gripe with this game is the low-health effect. The less health you have, the stronger the vignette and smaller your field of view. That. Is. Infuriating.
Feels like a demo, way too short and the amount of money you have to pay is not worth the game. Wait until there is a sale for 1€, then it's really good game!

Titan Slayer is a hack n' slash, or gun n' dash, or bow n' go, first-person title for virtual reality. It comes equipped with three levels, with only the first one unlocked in the beginning; the latter two are unlocked upon completion of each subsequent mission. Although there are only three levels in the game, there is still quite a lot of replay value that'll help you get more bang for your buck. Not only are there achievements that act as challenges that you can work towards getting, but more importantly there are three difficulty levels. I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I even found the easy setting to be quite challenging at first. Once you learn each boss's patterns and move sets everything gets easier, so long as you're physically capable of all the ducking and dodging that's required.
The graphics here look good... real good, especially considering that the game is now over two years old; a small eternity when it comes to VR releases. The bosses feel gargantuan and overbearing as they loom and tower over you, an obvious inspiration that beckons nostalgia from Shadow of the Colossus. The smaller foes are equally as well-modelled, though they're nowhere near as interesting as the big bads themselves. The three level environments are also pretty cool; a castle, a ship being dragged through the desert, and a tower surrounded by lava. Oddly enough though, the second boss, a giant snake creature, is the most difficult of the three.
One frustrating thing of note are the controls. There's very little in the way of control schemes here, but what is present is somewhat clunky and at times very irritating. You can have four weapons on you at any given time; left shoulder, right shoulder, left hip, right hip. You can customize what's in these slots in the main menu; ranging anything from a combination of different guns, a bow, swords, grenades, and a shield. If you choose to take the shield with you, a boss can knock it out of your hands which is fine, but sometimes no amount of reaching behind your shoulder will bring the thing back before you get hit again. Likewise, the guns that can be placed in the hip slots are hard to grab sometimes.
Despite its short-lived fun, Titan Slayer is a game that will keep you on your toes. It takes a certain amount of physical fitness to play and actually be good at what you're doing as well; since there's a lot of deep crouching and fast dodging. Expect to be forced down to one knee repeatedly, considering the randomized moves of each boss. There's no doubt that you'll end up getting your heart pumping and work up a sweat while playing this. Alternatively, there are other times where you can kind of beat the enemies at their own game by cheating a little bit if that's your thing. Its low price isn't bad, but if you're not into the replay value offered then it's better to grab this on sale.
Rating: 4.0/5.0 - Excellent, highly worth playing.

This is exactly what I wanted from a VR game. Just fighting some giant stuff. It's well done, it's challenging, it's fun. Biggest issue is it's length. I ended up seeing all of the content available in 22 minutes. Granted, there is more to do i.e. playing on harder difficulties, going for achievments, but that's stuff in every game and doesn't really count as "content" in my opinion.
Still, for what it is, and how much fun it was, I would say this is well worth it's asking price of $13. I definitely got $13 of fun out of it, and I'll be sure to revisit it from time to time.
PLEASE NOTE: After playing Titan Slayer II, I would say get Titan Slayer 2 instead, and maybe only pick this version up in a sale!

My Quick Thoughts:
Short but sweet! A decent looking romp, but I would have liked to see more levels, the experience felt like it was over before it started.
Maybe wait for a discount!
I wanted to refund the game, but missed the timing due to the holidays.
The game is basic, and while okay, feels like a slap-shod arcade style title that was put together quickly for the real purpose of just having something to install on client machines. The reasoning for that is...
The privacy agreement is creepy. It's the now-typical "we're going to siphon your data and share it with everyone, but we're protect your data, no really", kind. The creepy element is that the game fails to run past the title screen if you're not online. Disconnecting from the internet, running Steam in offline mode, or blocking it with your firewall, does not work. It is only when I actually disabled my network hardware directly did the game finally run offline.
This title behaves more like a trojan horse, and I don't feel developers like this are trustworthy.
Super fun game. The baseline mechanics are really good and all of the weapons feel super epic. The dodge mechanic is a lot of fun when you're facing huge bosses. This game is a steal for the price and I would recommend it to anyone who likes RPG Style combat in VR (Swords, bows, shields, etc). The Graphics are a bit basic but the environments are epic as hell. Couldn't recommend higher.

+ for achievements, as it REALLY makes me want to complete the game with a certain weapons.
+ for levels variety and monsers (I layed a brick when I saw second boss :D)

A really fun game, and a great way to unwind. Also, a good way to get a quick bit of cardio in, depending on how 'serious' you are about dodging things! It makes you feel like a hero, especially when you have to swap and change out weapons.
The only con really is that the whole experience is only 3 levels long. Each boss is unique and it does feel like you are indeed slaying titans. I hope that the developers either will release DLCs for this game, or will release updates for some new ones.
If you fancy having a bit of VR fun, this is definitely a great game to have in your collection for a super quick 'pick up and play' game.
I'm giving this a positive because I want more, not because I feel it's worth spending money on yet. I was having a blast, ducking, dodging, swinging ma sword and shooting crazy cool baddies until I suddenly wasn't because it was over. I had to go back and reload the game because I was expecting at least an hour of gameplay for $13 bucks. Instead is was a few minutes of tutorial, and then maybe 5 minutes spread across 3 increasingly cool levels before the game farts out.
This is ANOTHER one of those cases where a company puts out a game demo thats awesome and fun, but then thinks it's cool to charge for the demo. It isn't. A demo is supposed to make you want to buy the product, like the summer sausage salespeople at the mall that rope you into buying the holiday sausage box by giving you a piece of sausage for free and making you hungry. You buy the box because you liked the sample and wanted more because it was awesome sausage.
The problem here isn't the product, the demo is awesome and the reason im still giving it a positive. The problem here is that this is a 13 dollar tiny sausage sample with no holiday box to buy even if you were willing to pay more. I wouldn't even be mad if it were just a few bucks but once you break the 5 or MAX 10 dollar price point you are in territory that is best reserved for products that have more than 20 minutes worth of content.
TLDR: Developers need to stop pushing this "HURR IMMA CHARGE 10+ DOLLARS FOR A DEMO" mentality and perhaps we as consumers need to stop enabling it. Great gameplay but not worth more than a couple bucks due to it BEING A DEMO AND NOT A FULL GAME.
This game is shorter than I thought it would be, but it was still a lot of fun. There could have been much more content and a bit more polish, but its still a good game. I love how its just bigger than most anything else out there right now. The scale of the game is just huge, and a very good use of VR's potential. 7.5/10 not a must play, but I dont feel bad having spent my money on it.
Pros :
Nice sense of scale with the enemies, especially the bosses
Decent combat mechanics - dodging attacks, attacking back with a sword at certain points (or can just shoot guns).

Great exercise with all the dodging! After the first time playing my legs were sore the next day from all the super low ducking I had to do, works up a decent sweat! Main reason I kept the game.
Cons :
It's short. And fairly easy.
Sword combat has no finesse or skill to it (not that its meant to in this game).
The developer has completely abandoned it and has left a few bugs in it. (Bug I have - dropping guns to switch to other weapons doesn't work, I have to hit pause which auto-drops them. Grip button is supposed to drop guns, but it works like 1/100 times I press the button. My grip buttons work fine in other games)
Basically a fun, short, game that has done a great job of letting you fight giant enemies without it feeling cheesy, with a few bugs that will likely never be fixed.
If its on sale, a definate recommend. Otherwise a ok recommend.
The most fun I've had in VR in a while.
Visually it really nails the sense of scale - a giant lava dude the size of a 10 story building is quite something to behold.
The combat system is really fluid, it feels great to dodge attacks at the last moment, get in a couple of quick slashes with your swords, then drop them grabbing your shotguns for some long range damage as the enemy retreats - you can really pull of some cool shit if you're willing to put in a bit of time to get good at it.
It's short, but there's a ton of replayability - the goal is not just to beat the levels, but to do it as quickly and cleanly as possible, go for the high score.
Plus it's great exercise on the harder difficulty levels.
I played this for about 5 minutes just hacking and slashing the same enemy in a generic environment. I was hoping the melee would be satisfying and specific to my moves with the swords but it feels very unpolished.

Seriously fun! This is a great first step to what i crave to see in VR one day, a D&D style RPG. This gets the feel and combat down well of that. the third level is legit freaky the first time, I love it. Gonna put more hours into this for sure, and its good at keeping your heart rate up!
Good visuals. Poor sound design. Somewhat innovative gameplay mechanics. weapons dont seem to have any weight to them, the combat experience isnt exactly polished. I would give this 3.5 stars out of 5. Worth the $10 for me.
For the price this is a very solid game.
They start you off slow and i was thinking "okay,,,, this is just another hack and slash VR game...."
they you start to see how the game play mechanics work. Dodging, blocking, parrying....
and the difficulty ramps up really quick.
after i reached the second stage i was doging and swinging and shooting with 100% effort.
now the weapons are a little shaky and a bit weird, but the intensity just completly draws your attention away from it, i only noticed in the training stage.
for the content in here now it is worth it.
I really hope they add more to this, as it could be a solid VR game and has a lot of potential for a "AAA" VR game.
TL;DR: It's VR Darksouls.... Get it....
Pros:
1. Very, very active game. Will make you sweat.
2. Cool actions, good choice of weapons
3. Thrill of killing massive enemies
4. Actually challenging bosses
Cons:
1. You'll need a lot of space to move around in. or else you'll end up breaking something
2. Short game without a narrative
3. No mechanism to help aim with the bow
Content is leaning towards the short end but the rock-solid gameplay and the phenomenal visuals/presentation more than make up for it. I'll admit, the opening sequence caught me by surprise. Gave me a good spook.
Additonal Notes:
Runs fine on low spec machine.
The interactive menu screen is a nice touch.
Just finished playing the entire game. You'll see I'm at 26 minutes and a good 8 minutes of that was sorting out some technical difficulties. For the amount of content I would keep the game at its sale price, because is just a demo. Though a REALLY GOOD DEMO. Two more difficulties to work through, so I'm sure a lot more time will have to go into besting them.
Pros:
- The combat was exciting.
- The second level required going back and forth between melee and range, and it required some brain and coordintation to rapidly switch between the two.
- I'm drenched in sweath. Bosses constantly throw attacks at you that require a lot of bobbing and weaving.
Cons:
- Just the amount of content. Three five minute levels. They're not charging a whole lot, but I'd hope that more levels are on their way, or I'd feel a little short-changed.
- A little bit choppy on the end boss. Running a i7-6700k 4ghz and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070. The graphics are pretty epic, so not sure if what I have is still "good"
Overall: 8/10 Exactly the kind of VR genre I want to see developed more. A fun, action packed adventure that takes real skill to beat, and also gets you a six-pack along the way. This game isn't everything I hoped for, but it's an exciting step.
