simulacra better, but still decent
Builds up to a disappointing conclusion. But at least the journey is worthwhile...
A Normal Lost Phone
Has a total of 5 trading cards.
A good short game. I got it on sale for less than $1. It tells a story of a teenager who is going through things. Good music. 10 songs is pretty generous for a small game like this. Good gameplay. Decent graphics. Clearly made by some people who care. The first thing to do on linux is to go to the community board to find the files to copy. Was a pretty fun challenge tbh. While most of the game is reading texts, it didn't get boring. I think that's a part of the genre.
It's basically just a bunch of messages and dates that become passwords over & over. Then you get FORCE FED Copious amounts of LGBTXYZLMNOP crap for miles! It's beyond woke to the point of global warming climate change (which is normal) PSAs being disguised as text messages. Don't we already get enough of this crap online and on TV? We come here for a break from it. Epic failure. I wouldn't even mind if it was just what the character was going through so we could all empathize. But this is instead a bonk over the head with all things transvestite. Hard pass out the ass!!
Nice short LGBT-themed story. As a player who has found a phone, you are quite nosy though, and meddling a bit!
Was reminded of this game recently and played it again - it's really well-done and lovingly crafted. I really like the premise of exploring a person's life through their phone.
A Normal Lost Phone is a game where you find a phone and SNOOP LIKE NO TOMORROW.
A furtive investigation reveals all of the phone owners secrets, doubts, fears, guilt, shame, fracturing relationships, and MORE THINGS like... hope?
To reveal the whole story you point, click, and scroll your way through.
I would recommend this game.
7/10
A very good game about the realities as an LGBT youth and young adult, told in a very realistic way. Some of the bigots feel a little over the top, but it still feels grounded in reality. I would definitely recommend people play this!
You play the nosy stranger who is trying to figure out the owner of the lost phone with clues. You slowly uncover the truth with all the clues. Its a nice game.
oh crap, i've had this on my wishlist for so long now i had no idea what it was about... as a trans guy myself this hit so close to home, and finding out little by little the pieces of information to unfold the story was just so heartwrenching... i'm so glad she was able to run away and be herself, i'm lucky to not have needed that, but i'm just glad she just her happy ending
A short phone puzzle, I like how you can find the answers while dugging into the story.
I realy liked the game! i got about 1,5 hours of palytime out of it and it´s a heartworming and uplifting story. i did not know what to expect going into it but i ended up loving it. I would realy reccomend it to anyone but espectially LGBTQ+ people. I don´t want to spoil so i won´t go into much detail but i was realy happy how the story ended and did enjoyed the way the player figures it out. The puzzles are not too difficult and if you are stuck there is a great guid on the community tab. I also loved the music, perfect backround music <3
A short puzzle game, but with a very interesting and cool format. It feels very intimate to be going through someone's "lost phone", and provides a unique perspective to slowly come to know this person. I'd also call it a pretty sweet game- despite the decent amount of hate and sadness in the game, it ends on a hopeful note in my opinion, and ultimately it's about finding your place and making your happiness.
A couple fun puzzles, a message many people need to hear, but a little rudimentary
Fun game with a message.
The game itself is a puzzle and a story all in one! Many thanks to the developer for this game!
quite ok, short game (with Achievements)
also has a spoiler free guide in community hub if you get stuck
if you liked it, maybe also check out its sequel: Another lost phone
P.S. altrights & other deplorables should probably steer clear
Interesting game with unique art, and deep back story into a character with a troubled life. LGBTQ Friendly game with real life situations and scenarios. I love the support in this game, and the way the characters interact with one another via messages. It is a short game with unique puzzles that have you intrigued to find out more about the main character's life.
A Normal Lost Phone is a very good little game where you find a girl's phone. Check her messaging, emails, photos, etc... to find what happened to her. The puzzles are not to difficult, the stoy is good and the grapchics are nice. For his low price, it worth it and I highly recommend it!!! 💗📱💗
WARNING, THIS REVIEW IS BASICALLY SPOILERS
This game fantastically puts in light the trans struggle of self-discovery, and the hardships and joys of defining yourself, and is also pretty amazing at explaining things to the unaware public ! i would recommend you even give that game to family members or friends you came out to if you are transfem, i think this game could do some great job at explaining things, is very simple and quick to play through (around 1.5 hours). salty i know my family wouldn't go through a puzzle game tho 😭
It was kind of like getting lost reading random reddit threads, BUT you get to also uncover a mystery and snoop around, so I liked it. Easy achievements and engaging if you like to read.
This is a really cozy game!
Since the game is on the shorter side, with only one ending, it isn't that replayable. However, there are a lot of interesting story elements in the game. The writing is very nice, and describes the experience of being a trans person. Not only binary trans people but non-binary too. While playing the game you really get to know the main character Samira. At the end of the game I was so invested in her story that I was sad the game was ending T-T
Anyways a cute lil game
This is an amazing game. such good story telling and puzzles that really compel you to keep going. this is a great game for trans gamers, just an fyi there is a ton of reading
me and my fiance sat together while I played this all the way through. it took just over an hour, but we were fully captivated by the story and he couldn't stop tearing up at parts. highly recommend this game and cannot believe it's so cheap for such a rich story <3
A Normal Lost Phone is an interesting take on a mystery game! Also the ability to play music in one of the apps is nice and the music is fantastic! I got stuck a few times but i got pass most of it without a guide BUT i enjoyed it! 10/10
Bah, Steam ate my original review.
The short version is that I loved the world-building and satisfaction of piecing everything together. I also think I slightly prefer this over the sequel, but it's close.
If you're looking for a game that allows to solve some puzzles, but won't be an absolute hassle for couple of hours, then this one is perfect. After around 3 hours I've had everything finished / discovered and finished the game. The main story is very interesting, with some nice twists. Perfect game for autumn evening :)
A Normal Lost Phone is an indie game that offers a unique and intimate storytelling approach. The game let you explore the contents of a lost phone, uncovering the life of its owner, Sam. As you delve into messages, photos, and apps, you gradually piece together Sam’s story, which touches on themes of identity, sexuality, and self-discovery.
What makes A Normal Lost Phone stand out is its innovative format. The game is played entirely through the phone interface, making it feel personal and immersive. You feel like a detective, slowly unraveling the emotional struggles and secrets of Sam’s life. The narrative is heartfelt and poignant, tackling sensitive topics with care and empathy.
However, some may feel uneasy about the voyeuristic nature of the gameplay, as it asks players to invade someone’s privacy to progress. But this very discomfort serves as part of the game’s commentary on identity and understanding.
Overall, A Normal Lost Phone is a short yet powerful experience, offering a thoughtful exploration of personal struggles through an innovative format. It’s perfect for players who enjoy narrative-driven games and aren’t afraid to confront tough, real-world issues.
Good game, nice writing and flow of the story. The puzzle elements feel just the right amount of tricky, I was really a stumped a couple of times but managed to unlock everything on my own in the end.
Indoctrination, the Video Game!
This had the promise of being an interesting clicker puzzle game, but once the indoctrination started, it went strong! It was just too on-the-nose. It was more a supplemental read on coming out in the LGTB community and explanation of associated terms, with a hint of click puzzler. Just not much "game" to the game.
I don't want to give away any of the story. It is really an interesting experience and I want anyone who is interested in the game to experience it properly. I do recommend it.
short and simple story. A sad story with a story of hope at the end :) Do give this short game a try espescially if you are a part of the LGBTQIA++ community!
A pretty cute but short game. The puzzles are expected difficulty, though I did reference a guide because I was too lazy to do the math to figure it out. The music is fairly nice to listen to and I recommend spending a little extra time in the game to listen to it. I'm mostly just glad the ending is not the tone so many LGBTQ+ stories get we get a happy ending in this one .
An interesting game where you look through a stranger's lost phone as you slowly uncover who they are and the life they live.
relatively short game about exploring a phone you found, to find out about the owner. bad at writing these, so these are my thoughts, in no order:
short game, about 2 hours to 100%
low price, i bought it on sale for AUD$1.26, but even its original price of AUD$4.50 isnt horrible, especially with AUD exchange rates lol
despite the concept being simple, the puzzle solving is amazing (most of the time - i got stuck on one section)
good art, especially like the hidden photo of the original owner, play the game to find out what i mean!

Spoilers!
Realistic depiction of living in a conservative town with a trans/homophobic family (as far as i am aware, i fortunately was pretty lucky myself)
closeted trans girl main character! and shes cute as well (see comment on the photo above)
all in all, a short and cheap game that takes about 2 hours, exploring themes of homophobia and transphobia, and navigating though a closeted trans girls phone to find out where she went
oh this one hit hard
If you don't mind reading in video games, this game is very cool with a cute little story :)
Sifting through personal information to learn their story is a shockingly engaging gameplay concept, trying to guess which specific dates are important enough to be passwords is not.
Overall it's a captivating slice of voyeurism with a very cute story, but don't be afraid to use a guide if you get stuck.
100% in 13m
I really liked this game. The story was good and i liked the puzzles.
cutest little game!! nice and short if your attention span isnt super long, i love cute little detective games like this! very beautiful story. 10/10!!!
This game is definitely better than your average "LGBTQ-in-a-can" content written by old cishet men trying to stay "hip" with the gaymers. It's also not left-extremist content that demonizes everyone who isn't LGBTQ to the point where you're like "We get it already, sheesh".
I would say this game puts you in the shoes of a very authentic teenage/young adult experience of self-discovery and is also educational in the process.
I remember desperately and awkwardly grasping at straws to make sense of similar things as a kid. Most of my help and information also came from people online.
I was Navigating a world where entire friend groups could be lost in a single moment, or even worse your life is now in danger for existing. Through it all, you find what few people that still love and support you and hold on to them tightly as you start a slow journey of intense introspection and self-acceptance.
I recommend it if that's what you are looking for.
