Love this game, but it keeps crashing. Sadly, I have to uninstall it.
You have to troubleshoot so much stuff to make this game work on new operating systems and cpus... it's a mess.
I own this game on multiple platforms and I always come back to it. Is it a masterpiece? No, quite frankly its rough around the edges and the keyboard controls were a bit steep to grasp, but the combat has a nice flow to it and the art direction is too good for the lack of attention the game receives. I really can't hype the work present in this game enough.
It's probably not for everybody, but I recommend this game to anyone who will listen. It has some nice puzzles, great voice acting, and a look that's as fresh as the first time I played it. I am incredibly biased, but idc. I love you Darksiders.
A fun action game with a mix of combat and puzzles. The puzzles are fairly easy, but some can take a tedious amount of time to put everything into place. The combat is fun and varied, but can be a little frustrating with the camera/lock on system. Plenty of secret areas to discover currency/upgrades. Generally, a lot of fun, but it would have been improved by being about 5 hours shorter rather. Fighting on horseback was good fun too.
Budget Zelda: Ocarina of Time + God of War
I love this game but I wasnt able to get my controller I used to beat the warmastered version with it for some odd reason. It also wanted me to download mod support installer for some reason. The game booted up when I said no. The keyboard controllers worked fine but doing complicated things felt awkward and locking on. I do perfer controller for action games and since my controller didnt work for some reason, it worked fine eariler today, I cant recommend this version unless your more of a keyboard controls guy.

The game is hack and slash, using combos to inflict more danger. As you progress the story, you get new tools so combat is constantly evolving (you need those tools to defeat the boss of the level) and never gets boring.
While the game is open world, the story must progress linearly, and some areas are inaccessible. Once you've cleared a level you can come back, one you get more tools, to access zones previously unavailable, but otherwise it's a fairly linear game.
Also, the game is filled with puzzles to solve. Very often you enter a room and have to figure out what switches activate, what portals, etc., to progress to the next room. It adds to the variety and I really enjoyed most of them, but you can get stuck pretty easy. The game plays a small music when you made a discovery or progress, so there's a feedback to let you know you're doing it right.
The story is good but nothing spectacular. Overall, I enjoyed it, except for one or two clichés here and there. It is one of betrayal, honor and revenge, and the ending literally leaves you wanting more. The bosses you fight are varied and usually demand you to use the weapon/tool you learned during the battle. They are very predictable, and you'll learn their moves pretty quick. As for your character, there's very little room for customization, as both weapons, powers and armour are fixed. This is not a bad thing unless your expecting an RPG-like game.
The sound and graphics are decent enough, but the performance is a bit lacking (I played on an Xbox One S). At some points during a dungeon, a "loading" screen would appear and I had to wait a bit. Nothing too serious though, fortunately it never happened during boss fights. The controllers felt a bit clunky though, some times pressing the jump button would not make my character jump, and fall to its death. The camera has a few issues as well, nothing too serious but there are places when it would move too fast you can't see what's going on.
It took me about 20 hours to finish the game. I enjoyed most of it, When done with it go for Darksiders II.
It has its ups & downs in the annoying department with its enemies and exploration, but overall it's been an epic journey with really awesome characters and story.

At least this version is cooked because if it isn't the first thing you open in Steam the achievements won't work. You basically have to restart Steam everytime you want to play this game.

Darksiders is an action-adventure where you play as War, a Horseman of the Apocalypse, framed for ending the world. Now stripped of his powers, War returns to a devastated Earth to hunt down the true culprit. With a striking post-apocalyptic world, Darksiders combines intense hack-and-slash combat, Heaven-and-Hell themes, and intricate dungeons. The game’s mystery unfolds slowly but keeps you engaged, though the Black Throne level can feel tedious. The Warmastered Edition offers improved visuals and smoother performance, but both versions provide a challenging, content-rich experience.
Darksiders was one of the last generation’s hidden gems, a dark, beautifully designed pastiche of several other action-adventure titles. Planned as a four-part series, the franchise only got as far as Darksiders2 before publisher THQ declared bankruptcy in 2011, and its intellectual properties were sold off piece by piece. Most people who’ve played Darksiders were probably disappointed that THQ fell apart before the planned quadrilogy could be completed, as the two games we got were both highly entertaining, enjoyable action titles.
Each of the Darksiders games tells the story of one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and the first centers on War. War and his brothers act as enforcers for the Charred Council that maintains the balance between Heaven and Hell, keeping them in check until the third faction, humanity, is strong enough to provide a challenge to both sides. As the game opens, War finds himself called to Earth as Angels and Demons fight their way through the streets of a nameless city, but the squishy humans who reside there are no match for either. Clearly, he’s been summoned too early.
War fights his way through the streets until he comes up against a demon he can’t defeat, as it seems something is sapping his powers. He’s knocked unconscious and wakes up before a tribunal, accused of being the one responsible for kicking off Armageddon too soon and dooming humanity.
The story takes itself completely seriously, but there’s a disconnect between the heavy-handed narrative and the exaggerated visuals, and it can be hard to tell if Darksiders is being sincere or has its tongue planted in its cheek. The use of Christian end-times mythology as a backdrop for the story works well, and the chunky, colorful Joe Madureira designs resemble decked-out characters in World of Warcraft. Everything is edgy and over-the-top; there’s not a treasure chest in the game that doesn’t have at least three skulls in its design, and War’s enormous sword is known as the “Chaoseater.” Although this can feel overblown, it’s still fun. It gives Darksiders its own charm.
Darksiders borrows heavily from some of the best titles in the action and adventure genres, and although it’s imitative, it comes together to be more than the sum of its parts. Much of the gameplay is borrowed from The Legend of Zelda series, with dungeons that must be explored to find tools that aid in exploration and can also be used in combat. Beating a boss upgrades your life bar, and you literally collect the creatures’ hearts after besting one. The overworld’s visuals resemble Gears of War in their greyish-brown defiled beauty, and bosses might remind you of God of War or possibly Shadow of the Colossus. There’s even a dungeon later in the game that borrows ideas from Portal, with an item that shoots orange and blue rifts at special targets. You’ll come across some genre clichés, but for the most part, they’re fun ones. (A large, slow-moving elevator? Sure hope a bunch of mooks don’t jump in and start whaling on me.)
As I mentioned, neither the audio or the gameplay have been altered for this re-release. Thankfully, neither of these needed any changes. Liam O’Brien gives War a stoic, world-weary voice that sounds like he’s constantly holding back his rage, and Mark Hamill lends the Watcher the same voice as his Fear Feaster character from Adventure Time, basically Joker without the mirth. The boss’s voice lines are too few and spoken too frequently, but it’s a minor annoyance you probably won’t notice if you don’t get stuck on a boss fight.
I did run into some minor problems. During the first couple of hours, lip syncing didn’t quite match up during cutscenes, though this did self-correct after a while. Even though I was playing with a controller, the mouse pointer showed up center screen whenever I was shopping, no matter how many times I moved it offscreen.
Darksiders still holds up exceptionally well, and it’s easy to recommend. It’s not quite as fresh and exciting as it was in 2010, but I still think it’s something everyone should try out. If you’ve played it before, it’s worth revisiting. If you haven’t, it’s a solid adventure that’s well worth your time.

Being War, one of the Four Horsemen in Darksiders, was a ride not to be missed. After 12 years, returning to this game brings back so many fond memories of the time I spent in its apocalyptic world. While the story, characters, and gameplay might not be the best, it still holds up against current-generation games for me. I might play the Warmastered Edition sometime in the future.
You get the Warmastered edition with this, so just play that one - there's no reason to come back to this one.

É exatamente o que você esperaria de um hack n slash de 2010. O jogo tem mecânicas simples e sem dúvidas é divertido. Até o fim do jogo as coisas fluíram muito bem, entretanto buscar o 100% é complicado, as coisas ficam repetitivas e a movimentação dentro do game não é das melhores. Em relação a trilha sonora, para mim foi inexistente. O combate é divertido e até que diversificado, mas depois de 30 horas, pode ficar chato e exaustivo.
No geral, é uma ótima gameplay para o fim da noite depois de um dia cheio.

Playing this game for the first time in 2024 and it was good. Has that kind of nostalgic games feeling.
I also recommend you check the remastered (warmastered) edition. I only realized I had it in my library in the last 60 minutes of the game.
