Life of Greather 2 when?
wtf is this
Life of Greather is probably a game you should not play.
It's a mess of game design, the open world is loaded at full LOD at all times, meaning it runs poorly even on good computers and you need to wait through a loading screen for upwards of 15 minutes at a time every time you die.
That being said. I love Life of Greather. I adore this game.
There is something about it that is under my skin and I fucking love it.
Greather Games needs to create a sequel ASAP. This game needs to continue on.
it has a cool engine that it runs off of, but besides that, the game is empty and sad. I don't like the game because I don't like it still give it a shot.
What can I say, but life changing.
Every aspect of this game is lovingly crafted. The combat mechanics were easy to learn, but difficult to master, as all good combat should be.
This game is audiovisual heaven. I cannot believe this treasure of an interactive experience came out in 2016 considering how innovative it is. The cast of voice actors is jam packed full of the biggest stars of our time. The music was so great, I will be putting it on my phone and rocking out to it in the car.
By far the greatest part of the experience was the narrative. From both a lore and storytelling perspective, it was perfect.
There's nothing of substance here. It's a poorman's version of Skyrim, and that is already giving it too much credit. There's almost no music or sound, the lighting is off, the combat is non-existent, the world is empty and even the optimization for the game is terrible.
The quality is not really surprising, given the fact that the developer is quite fond of creating shovelware and selling it at an appealing price for the few people who happen to come by.
Don't fall for it.
this game is great it has everything a man with a marriage that is falling apart you have to rebuild greathers marriage by finding his wife in this grand open world adventure game where you complete quests in this far away kingdom but watch out it has been over run with bandits and you must survive and defend yourself against the bandits that patrol the roads of this kingdom to get the end of this grand adventure that is why i love the life of greather
low budget scottish skyrim
i will admit i had fun smiting livestock and the general population
i'm having loads of fun in the life of greg, just laughing at the game because how bad it really is.
Obviously simple, but you know what? I had a great time playing this. Getting punch with a bow was awesome.
The Life Of Greather is a captivating game where you walk. That's about it- before you start your journey you rob your entire town blind of enough shekels to buy a dagger from the local merchant. Upon this purchase, the world is your oyster. For me personal- it lead to a life of crime where I raked up a bounty of more than $5000 dollars... this however is meaningless as The Life Of Greather takes place in a lawless land where nothing really matters and your wife is nowhere to be found.
10/10 for $2
I don't like it when I have to start the game to access the menu and settings. Also, the name in the taskbar is "Game Guru", they didn't bother to change that.
Skyrim Grabage Edition.
this garabge is the most most flithy i have ever smelled in ma life
I think this okay I enjoyed it.
Some people won't like it because the graphics don't look that good.
My expectations were really low but i have seen and played far worse!
The Life Of Greather is, hands down, the best game of all time. The simplicity of the game is too hard to understand for simple minded weaklings such as the people in the reviews. You must have an IQ over 700 to understand this game, and clearly, I do.
very bad game ..its a disgrace to even call it a game this is like some EXTREMLY LOW garbage " game"
dont even buy ..unless your making a video about Worst games on steam on youtube.
I enjoy RPG games and can play even not so great titles to see what they can offer, and usually every game has something good to keep playing. Unfortunately not in this case. Graphics is too crude (and not in a way of old school game), slow and awful on close look. You're starting in some kind of tavern and bartender won't speak to you, you go to the village and no one speaks to you. the only option you have is to buy a knife without interaction with a trader. It feels like developtr had no idea how to add interaction with NPCs. Whole game is just like that - empty, bland and no interaction.
Can i recommend it? Sorry, no. It does not look like a game to me, if you see a "game" made with Guru Maker just run away, they are all similar!
I would say pretty good for an asset flip considering they at least gave credit at the end to the people they bought the assets from. That being said, I got this game for twenty cents and I still feel increidibly disapointed. The combat is horrible, everything is ugly, the music drops after the first sound effects, there's no save, everything is a stock asset, there is basically no interactivity, and it's 2 dollars. Don't buy this game and definitely do not play this game.
The Life of Greather is an amicable enough premise wrapped all around a steaming dung heap of a game.
Basically, you play as the town drunk on a rural British Isle in the olden tymes. You wake up plastered in a bar and set out to find your wife. Why you can't just go home and check to see if she's there is a pretty good question.
Meanwhile, you have some money, which you don't ever need to spend. You can buy a weapon, but you can find the same thing all over the map for free. Once armed, you can kill everyone and I suppose all the other island residents just go, "Well, that's Greather for you. Whaddya do." But when you kill an innocent, your Bounty rating goes up, making you think you're going to get into a GTA-style chase with knights and steeds. Don't worry, that doesn't happen.
You do get attacked by bandits constantly, though. All of the weapons barely have any range, but this is just one example of the nearly infinite realism of this game. You see, Greather's quite inebriated, so swinging a battle axe more than three inches in front of him is a tall order.
Sometimes you encounter a friendly NPC who's happy to tell you to go to the complete other end of the map to 1) retrieve a trivial item or 2) find your wife. It's not a big map, but it feels gigantic due to (again) Greather's stumbling drunk gait.
Which brings me to the true reason to play this game: Greather himself. He is a hoot. You'll never love a character quite as much as you love Greather when he says, "Ooooouuurrrrgghh my head do hurt," or "Off I go, then." That's really the *only* reason to play this game.
I won't spoil the ending, but suffice it to say it makes about as much sense as the game world into which you awake.
I'm recommending it though, because this game is a million times better than almost every other unity or gamemaker game.
As a long-time PC gamer, I have to play a game before I judge it, regardless of the graphics or existing reviews.
You assume control of a character named 'Greather', a farmer living in the town of Oxlea, waking up to a bartender's pleas for the character to leave his now-closed bar. The mission you have is set immediately, find your wife Ellyn. Unfortunately that's the only information you'll get for now, and all of Oxlea's 3 unique NPCs are unresponsive and no hints can be found in the immediate area. So, the game expects you to search, providing a map of the world. Now, I'm all up for exploration, but when the map doesn't even have a cursor indicating where you are, it's as useful as someone giving me a compass without a needle. NPCs telling me to go to Ferndale Market is fine, but when I can't even figure out where Ferndale is without having a deep knowledge of the world map already indicates a problem.
So, in Oxlea, you find a knife (or dagger). From here you're free to kill all of the NPCs in the world, with no consequences. The only negative thing I've noticed is the Bounty meter which increases upon killing a friendly NPC, although from what I've played of the game it doesn't seem to actually do anything. Naturally, I murder everyone in Oxlea, and they ragdoll in one slash from the knife. The town somehow feels just as empty even with all the NPCs dead, and so far, the game feels emptier than Fallout 3 - or pretty much any apocalyptic game that's SUPPOSED to feel empty. Have more NPC interactions, better dialogue and bring some life and personality into the world.
Heading out of Oxlea, I am greeted with two paths. One goes to Oxlea farm, where my character proudly exclaims that he's going to "plow these fields in the morning". There's one NPC who I quickly murder, and then there's nothing else... no loot, no quests, nothing. Time to head back and go to the other path.
The other path leads to Riuena Camp, a place filled with bandits and axe-wielding.. bandits. Receiving a large axe from a bandit actually felt good, until I realised the knife from the beginning was actually just as strong if not stronger than this massive axe. And even so, there's no depth to the combat - you can just slash, move back a bit, slash, move back a bit and slash again and you are basically invincible. It's almost like Morrowind's combat system except it doesn't even feel as complete as THAT, and I'm not a fan of Morrowind's combat system.
Moving on I find a town called Aldacain. Knights are attacking me here now, it doesn't explain why, they just are. I quickly dispatch the knights and the copy/pasted NPCs from Oxlea (literally the same NPCs) and a cutscene tell me I need to go to Ferndale Market. I have a slight sense of where I am from the map, since I know I'm in Aldacain, and I just have to follow the coastline along to Teiagre castle. Literally 3 minutes of walking and I reach the castle, where a guard tells me I need to recover the king's stolen valuables to enter. Seems strange that the guard isn't doing that and is instead trusting in some random farmer? Oh well. That's just a video game trope, I can't really consider that a fault of this game.
Now what is a fault is that the game relies heavily on two of gamings biggest taboos - fetch quests and backtracking. Not only do you need to fetch 'the king's valuables', you need to heavily backtrack CONSTANTLY to get to where you need to go. This isn't fun, and it feels kind of like the developer is trying to artifically increase the game's length. Oh well, I guess I'll find this cart, I'm already this far in now.
..huh, water instantly kills you, even if you don't step into much of it?
....oh, the game doesn't have saving, so you have to start ALL the way from the beginning?
Yeah. In this state, I wouldn't consider this even alpha, this is more of a proof of concept, and should not be released let alone sold for actual money. I definitely can see that a lot of work was put into this, but it need a lot more work to even be considered ready for retail. It looks like an early PS1 game, menu graphics are hard to read and just look unprofessional, the world feels dead and empty, and the voice acting sounds like it was done by family members in a bathroom. To begin with, it needs music (and not the same 20 second loop repeated), saving/loading, more NPC interactions and more variety to the world's landscapes. It could also do with more land in the actual world.
I hope you listen to this review.
The gameplay isn't too bad except for the framerate and the fact that the dagger is hands down the best weapon. It tries to sell itself as a grimdark realistic game, but some of the first enemies you encounter are bandits wearing skulls with golden battleaxes. Fetch quests are used to make the game last longer. They don't even make any sense in the context of what's happening.
There's no music.
There are almost no sounds at all.
The voice acting isn't the worst but the recording software/hardware seems like it was bad.
The ending was one of the worst endings I've ever seen. I can't recommend the game just because of the ending.
I'd like to see what the dev could do with time and money though. Perhaps a story writer as well.
For $2 it's not the worst game ever.
