RPG in a Box is actually amazing, it has some limitations in size multiple size variations being put into maps and some other small things but I've learnt and made some pretty cool games with this thing, it is very beginner friendly, I like the little pictures on the side of things like each editor has it's own little system, overall I 100% recommend this program, and the full version is a steal in my opinion but the free version works great too!

I am very much a hobbyist game dev. I have tried many systems in the past and never got very far in development. This system really makes me feel like I can finally release a game and make my mark (likely small, but still MY mark) in the game dev world. It is very intuitive to get started and seems like it has the tools to make some more complex games. The in system voxel editor makes creating new assets easy and there are already a bunch of assets you can import to your project if you are artistically challenged (like me!). If you are a full time employed and just generally busy person like myself, this is a great system for you to finally commit to making something. Take the plunge, you won't regret it.

Tip: If you're having lag even with almost nothing in your project, turn off ambient occlusion!

I can tell I'm going to sink TONs of hours into this. Looks super active, with a clear and most importantly exciting roadmap, and plenty of video tutorials online.

This is the most excited an engine has gotten me (a complete beginner in game making), with built in dialogue and quest systems too (would love some documentation on the quests please!), I can't even fathom the amount of hard work and love that's gone into this so major props to Justin and the team - I really hope I can publish something using this one day!

This software is fun and easy to use. and I see it as a good way for enthusiasts to learn more about game design. The skills and concepts learned here will carry over to other engines, so it's a great starting point on anyone's journey to learn game design; even old crusty dudes like me. It's well worth full price.

My 12y old son has been making games with RPG In A Box for years now. And I finally bought a full version for myself to help him out and build some of my own games (I'm using it on a Linux PC). This tool is incredibly approachable and fun to use. The mix of visual code editor and syntax editor really takes the ease of use up a huge degree. It's so nice to see everything all in one place for building a game. We've made adventure games, tower defence games, resource gathering games and more. Really a lot of flexibility.

If I could mention one suggestion - documentation is the weakest part of this tool. The Help content is very brief, doesn't give enough examples of actual code implementing the thing being documented, and the depth of the documentation just doesn't go far enough to keep us from having to constantly scour the Discord and Forum (the addition of the Form was a huge help). I really urge Justin, once the Godot 4 upgrade is complete... to dedicate a few sprints to just really fleshing out the documentation (with lots more example code) and continuing with more YouTube tutorials. I think this would help with new user uptake.

All in all though, I tell everyone about this tool. We entered the Global Game Jam this year and two of my kids made games with RPG In A Box in under a week. Really fun and easy to learn!

It is great for what it offers, doesn't try do much more than RPG stuff, however when it does. it works so well

This is an amazing tool to help get beginners into game design. Very easy to use, and can allow you to make a variety of different types of games without even needing to write a line of code. I'm really excited for the future of this project and look forward to seeing the day it gets the recognition it deserves!

Great game engine. Easy to use with a suprising depth.

Much simpler then unity and you can make 3d and 2d games

This a great whay to get your Ideas of any type of game out there into the world. There are soooooo many possibilities waiting for you.

This game developing engine is easy to learn and create with, you will be able to create a small prototype in a couple of minutes after you learn the basics with this software.

This is an excellent tool for making not only RPGs, but many other types of games as well. The tools are pretty simple to use once you learn how they work and are very versatile, allowing you to create pretty much anything you can think of as long as you have the know-how.

Compared to RPG Maker, I'd say this tool is quite better in almost every aspect. One particular aspect I appreciate is that while RPG Maker makes you pay extra for a lot of basic features in the form of plugins (RPG Maker is already quite pricey, mind you), RPG in a Box has these features built in for no extra charge.

Overall, while RPG Maker is a good tool, I would recommend RPG in a box much more for it's versatility, ease of use, and cost efficiency.

This is the first game engine that I have used that I was able to teach myself on how it works! its so amazing!! I recommend this to every single person in the world!!!

Really good engine. I've used rpg developer bakin and others. This tool has great flexibility with ease of entry into the platform as compared to others.

while not for everyone, it is a great and easy(and Cheap) way of making video games!
