It is a VR Experience where you need to find clues to solve puzzles and find your way out of the Room. There are some items that can be grabbed and carried around. With some items you can interact (such as switches and numpads).

Please notice:
- It currently only supports the HTC Vive.
- Medium room size is recommended, but small size should be alright as well.
- Please make sure that you can reach at least a height of 2.10 meters.

Pretty much just a tech demo. Worth it when it's on sale for a dollar I suppose, but it's probably not worth your time in 2024.
Older but solid escape the room experience.
Graphics show their age, but performance is excellent. There is no smooth locomotion or teleporting, you have to physically move around the room and search for items and clues.
Best thing about this game, is that the puzzles work as intended. There is no "am i doing something wrong or is the game bugged?" feel. If nothing is happening, is because you still need to do something, and really everything is laid in front of us from the start.
Took me 20-30 min to finish the game, so a short experience but enteretaining and cheap one (i got it on sale).
Puzzles go from finding hidden object and using them where they are needed, to simple logic puzzles. Id say easy to mid difficulty.
Recommended even in 2024, understanding that this is an older, cheap (wait for a sale) and short escape the room game that mechanically works as intended, anyone that likes escape the room games should try this just for funsies.
I paid £2.89 for this and finished it in just over an hour. It was well worth it and the puzzles were great. Probably took me 30 minutes to finish the final puzzle.
Recommended forna fun gaming break if you can get it for £2/3.
It is cheap and immersive, but short and needs a lot of refinement. For example dropping a balled up piece of paper makes a weird, unrealistic thunking sound.
Controls too could be improved, e.g. only one button seemed to do anything and things I expected to be able to interact with were actually just decoration. Would also love a way to recenter the room to better fit my play space.
Worth the £2 I paid, as long as you have the true room scale area to play in.
For 2022, seamless and playable. Still fun as one of the first vr escape room games from 2016. But, the graphics looked outdated and there were only a few puzzles to solve. I had fun, though it wasn't as good as Belko VR.
The game is not very well optimized. It "auto-grabs" objects for you when you bring your controller near them, but then lets go soon afterwards, and manual grabbing (via pressing the trigger) is very picky; even if your controller as represented on the screen is right on top of the object you are trying to grab, sometimes you will just not be able to. Another issue I have with this game is that a certain object does not spawn until you have interacted with another certain object; in an escape room in real life, nothing would just magically appear from thin air once you've touched something. I would like to add on that this game does not allow you to move freely using the joysticks, meaning that for college students such as myself who are confined to tiny dorm rooms, playing games like this one is next to impossible - if you are curious, I was only able to play this game because I am currently back home.
First of all, this game is very basic. VERY basic. The controls are crude at best and uncomfortable.
The "programmer" expects you to crawl on the ground and stretch up high. There's objects hidden in places you can't see without glitching through the walls and objects. And there's other objects that are impossible to see high up if you're below 1,90m tall. Also it is basically expected that you at least have roomscale of 4 by 4 meters. Unless you live in a huge house, you're not going to have that kind of VR space.
I would call this neither a game nor an experience. Just a rip-off.
The only thing you get out of playing this, is a new prescription for glasses.
This sack of cr*p gets a 1/10 from me.

hmmmm. for me it was Ok. Certainly not the best escape room, but also not the worst.
There are two rounds in the same room.
The first round is pretty easy if you found all the fuses, but I had trouble locating the red fuse as it was IMHO out of the VR 'boundary' of the room to actually be able to get it, and I had to restart the game as the letter with the code for the second vault just vanished after I dropped it.
The second round only made sense if you actually got the 'yellow' cube and knew what it meant, but IMHO there were just too many possibilities and with that I didn't like it, that one should have had a simpel primer before needing to use it to the fullest.
Also I don't like endings where I really have to exit the game through the steam 'exit game'. There should have been an option to quit the game or go back to the main screen, with a quit button there.
I give it a 6 out of 10.
I think I got it at a sale for 2,17 euro and I think that's just enough..
I hope he learned from this first game, so I'm looking forward to playing the VR Vacate the Room 2.

a nice short vr escape room. i enjoyed it in the 15 minutes i used to finish the game. the only problem i encountered is that some items that has to be found and picked up were in corners on my play area and the sensors were going nuts so i had to improvise :)
That was way more fun than we expected. It's also the first VR game we've played since getting the Vive that actually requires object interaction.
Took a couple of tries to get it right but got there in the end.
Looking for more escape room games now!
My First VR escape room play. Roomscale, no-locomotion, room escape is now officially my new favorite kind of computer/video game entertainment. The genre has really stepped it up since then, but this one still holds its own. I like the echo and the ambient sound. It has achievements, and some kind of alternate ending or mode I keep missing. Nothing about the puzzling is hard, but they pace it very well, and you will enjoy your first play-through. The price is a bit high these days, considering the competition.

Fun little room escape game. I like the way the room automatically adjusts its size to fit your available playspace, so you don't have to worry about navigation. A few quite clever puzzles to solve. Hoping the developer produces more games in this genre.
I think this is a genre for VR that is widly underdeveloped - I love 'Escape the Room' games and have gone to several real life iterations so naturally, I'm happy to see a VR game using that theme.
A few of us played this game and we all enjoyed it - the '?' mode I think is a tad glitchy as (we had learned this after reading on the discussions afterwards) there is a paper that is supposed to fall down that guides you on a certain puzzle and we don't think it fell down for us - we looked thouroughly to no avail but despite that, we still enjoyed the experience - the regular mode worked with no issues at all.
I really enjoyed this game. The use of roomscale is amazing. The puzzles range from obvious to pretty clever and it has you scouring the room for any little bit of information you can find. It's short, but extremely well done and everything felt great. I've paid far more for experiences that gave me the same playtime with less enjoyment. I highly recommend this game. If they make more, I'll buy more. Plain and simple.
That was so much fun! I'd buy these all day for $3-$5 a pop.
Honestly I can't believe there aren't more room escape games. VR is ideal for it.
Vacate the Room is pretty much exactly what it looks like. You get a single escape room to escape from, and also a second bonus mode that's more difficult. The room only takes 20 to 30 minutes or so to escape from (maybe more for the second mode), so $5 might seem like a little much, but actual real-world escape rooms usually cost a lot more than that and typically last about an hour so I didn't mind the price since I'm a sucker for this genre. It'd be nice if we could get more rooms in some way, but as-is it's pretty fun if you like escape rooms. If you've ever done an escape room in real life you probably know how different it feels compared to a video game escape room, and while the VR doesn't 100% replicate the feeling it elevates it to a point that I consider pretty close.
I really enjoyed this VR experience, and would definitely like to see more VR puzzles like this, especially if they take things a bit further and add some trickier puzzles - my only criticism of this game is that it is very short (and has zero replayability since once you escape the first time it will be exactly the same the next time).
I recommend turning the chaparone bounds to developer mode for this game since it is quite dark, so long as your real room is larger than the virtual one and you have no risk of injury. Remember to turn them back to normal bounds afterwards!
Otherwise I'm not going to say much about this - just mentioning what I really liked about it would provide too much of a hint.
Even if the graphics are not as best as they can be, this game for me is what VR is all about. Room scale exploration was invented for these types of games. This is the game I enjoyed most to be honest. I think "quests" and room escapes are much more suitable for VR than timer based, you are in the middle, teleport style FPS games. I really forgot I was not in the room, this was fenomenal. I WANT MORE!
If you're a fan of Room Escape games, and have an HTC Vive, then you MUST play this.
It won't really challenge you, but the feeling of actually BEING in the room, and looking for the clues and figuring out how to exit, is really amazing.
Considering that most real-life Room Escapes can be up to $100 for an hour, this game is ABSOLUTELY worth the $4. I look forward to seeing more of this, and other similar games, from the developer.
Picked this up when it came out, just getting around to reviewing it a bit late. Great little game, well polished and I can't wait for hOSHI to exapand on the game - more room, larger rooms maybe? Hope so :)
As someone who loves ETR games and working on my own ETR style project, I love seeing these starting to show up in the VR store. I met hOSHI from his Vacate the Room facebook page after playing the game, very cool guy and I will be helping support his games for sure. Also, congrats on getting a playthrough video from Markiplier, saw that today! :)
i'm having trouble deciding whether to recommend or not. for a couple of bucks, it's not a bad little experience, but there are a couple of problems: 1- the red note is almost impossible to read. infact, i was convinced i needed to do something other than use the light because all i was seeing was a pure red piece of paper underneath the light.
2- it is literally impossible for me to complete this game because i have a low ceiling in my room. seeing as there is a cane in the room, it would have been cool if there was a way for me to attach the card to the cane so i could complete the game... but i couldn't.
3- most of the clues are more misleading than helpful. i spent a lot of time searching for a clue on the dvds, and looking for time codes in the room based on the clues. that wouldn't be a problem, except that i had solved the puzzle correctly, but i simply could not see that the red note said something, and therefore i was searching around for anything little hint from the clues.
beyond that, i just wish it was longer, and that there were more puzzles to solve. but given the price, i don't think it's unreasonable short. ultimately, though, at this point, i can't recommend.
