In this horror adventure game, play as 11-year-old girl Aya Drevis and uncover the secrets of a bizarre incident that befalls the Drevis residence, where maniacal experiments are conducted night after night.
To arrive at the truth, you'll need to make use of chainsaws, knives, hammers, even bottles of eyeballs to explore every inch of the terrifyingly mad mansion.
This is a remade version of the original Mad Father. In addition to updates such as a total revamping of the in-game graphics, this remake adds brand new scenes and Blood Mode: a new second playthrough which alters the story.

I never knew why, but this game always had a special place in my heart. I first saw it 2 years ago on Youtube and never stopped loving it ever since. The game itself isn't too long, but idc, it's still worth it. Ngl, I do feel like the 2 other bonus modes don't really bring anything new except for little extra lore, but why not replay absolute cinema right?
Mad Father is a cool RPGMaker horror game, mainly story driven so it's hard to review without spoilers.
The game has standard RPGmaker gameplay but with some unique quick time event interactions in the horror space, which I really enjoyed and was super fun to do. There's multiple endings, and some with collectables you have to get which aren't the hardest honestly which can give you some extra content.
But overall, I think the story was great, tense in many ways and I did feel genuinely for a lot of the characters. IMO the "true" ending did sort of let it down, but I won't spoil much of it and after all that is subjective, personally I didn't think it was the best but the game does many things well.
It's a short 3 hour experience and does deliver for what it is so I have to give it a 7/10
Mad Father ain't too bad of a game,
A friend recommended it to me and I gave it a shot while it was on sale,
If you yearn for an old school rpg maker horror game with all of bells and whistles it comes with, Mad Father is a good enough purchase, though I would still say only get it on sale as I find it too expensive at full price, at half price it's a fair enough purchase to collect dust in your steam library.
Now if you'll excuse me, I am going to uninstall it to save space.
I'm honestly so happy I came across this game while randomly browsing! At first it was a bit confusing and seemed to throw you right into the story, but once you get the hang of it, it's a lot of fun. I enjoyed the entire game, the characters, and the main story it was the perfect "adventure horror" to dive into. I'm looking forward to the other modes and getting all the achievements!
Its a little bit confusing at first but onse the storyline really starts taking shape it's a lot more fun, playing it so far for about 4 hours and got a ending. Will come back to get them all at some point down the line, It also reminds me of other games such as Alice madness and her backstory too. Would recommend giving it a try.
if i knew my child will side with her cheating murders father i'm aborting her.
A game for true sigmas 10/10.
Also one of my favorite horror RPG game.
I feel like the quizzes in this game is a bit difficulty (or I'm just having skill issue T_T).
Truly a classic Wolf RPG Editor horror game. I had a great time playing it and picking apart all of the secrets! It's not terribly long, and it's got some really solid moments.
My fear of dolls got it’s own fear of dolls. I love the game, like I love most of RPG horrors, but while playing this one I was geniuely stressed because some quick time events are random as hell, and I suck at these. But overall, the story is great, as Well as each of the endings. Overall, love the game. Maria for life <3
you can never go wrong with the classic rpg maker era, wadanohara, ib, misao and the bunch, and mad father is at the top of the food chain, you play as a little girl called aya drevis, waking up in the middle of the night you find the mansion infested with all sorts of monsters, but maybe theres more to it? you tell yourself you have to save your father first, and the journey begins, slowly delving into the basement and finding all the secrets the house itself keeps, maybe theres more to this family than meets the eye, and little aya drevis has fell victim to all of it, its a fantastic remaster of a notorious rpg maker lost to time, the story is engaging but i would suggest going in blind to experience it fully:) there are some parts that will drive you nuts but the end is worth it, its a game with an ending that can be interpreted in more than one ways, but the mystery is there, 10/10.
i first played this game when i was like 10 and i didnt understand anything except that it was peak. on a replay i still come to the same conclusion. shoutout to mad father for being the domino that brought us spookys jumpscare mansion dollhouse dlc
Genuine classic
If you pay attention to the background there's a ton of amazing lore and play through a few times for some details you wouldn't have seen the first time
Genuinely adore this game and love replaying it
+ Good
~ Meh
- Bad
- Story is kinda mid in general, there are some good points though.
- Horror Elements felt flat to me, not scary in the slightest.
+ Atmosphere works, Mood works for Horror
+ Gameplay is fine
+ Puzzles are fine
+ Characters are interesting
+ Locations are interesting, albeit a bit generic.
+ Extra Modes add more depth to the story, there still isn't that much to it.
+ Great Twists in the Story
- Music is pretty forgettable
- Voice Acting that exists is kinda cringy?
~ Silent Hill Style saving, generous amount of saving spots.
One of the few games that got me emotional in a very long time
I'm not used to this kind of games, but definitely loved it! The story is rich, there is a plot-twist, in the end got me emotional. Also multiple endings are making the game even more interesting and re-playable (didn't get to it tho, wanted to express my feelings very badly right away after my 1-st time finishing this masterpiece, gotta see them all!).
I've came across this masterpiece just because heard certain soundtrack (Old Doll), really liked it and decided to check out the origins. As it being said
"I came looking for copper and found GOLD"
since the game has to offer not only one such beautiful and memorable soundtrack but there are quite few, if not all of them! Cutscenes contain very suitable music which makes these sequences and the whole story in general even more emotional and memorableVery good eerie atmosphere is presented, really enjoyed wandering through the creepy locations with necessary elements such as sounds, lighting etc.
These components combined: story, music and atmosphere make the perfect game. Not to mention friendly level design and side quests for more curious, such as myself, players.
Also I'd really like to praise the gameplay, since if it was bad, perhaps, I wouldn't explore this game and complete it at all. It is interesting, I very much liked solving puzzles and saving protagonist's life - QTE timings are more than bearable
Played and 100% in a relatively short amount of time. Highly recommend if you enjoy short, simple, and fun puzzle horror games. Just praying for a sequel now.
I loved playing this game!! The story was great and the puzzle not too hard. But it was too short plus the other mode was just boring with only a few additional content. I've only played the remake so Idk if the original one is longer though. Anyway Aya is adorable ♡!
Beautiful story and really nice and easy gameplay.
Fun game! Not too challenging or harsh on the player. The guide helps a ton if you get stuck.
i struggled a lot with the qtes
I'm sad now. Don't play if you're lonely, or have green eyes. Also, never gonna be able to look at a doll the same way again.
Did a duo playthrough. Fun when playing with a homeboy.
11/10
Got deja vu during the true ending which was cool
Could beat dio with enough of those skill checks
Mad Father is simply one of my favorite game, the gameplay and story are perfect if someone would ask me a recommendation for a game i wouldnt even hesitate with that one
definitely creepy, and a great puzzle game.
I would recommend playing both this and "Misao." I mean, they only take about 3 hours to finish,
and both of them are amazing!
The game has a decent story and some puzzles. Puzzles were quite easy and I liked the music. The remake also adds blood mode which is alright. Good game 8/10.
Finally got the chance to finish this game and truly recommend it, especially If you like this types of games!
Just keep in mind that you need to manually interact with everything so you might feel a little lost at first, other than that truly loved it this games and their other modes.
Nice puzzle horror game. It will take you 3-6 hours to beat and maybe around 10 to 100% it (all endings + extra content). I think that's more than enough given the price, and just right for the game, it neither feels too short nor overstays its welcome.
The puzzles aren't particularly difficult but I found them fun. The story isn't anything crazy but it's engaging and has some interesting lore. If you find it interesting at all I highly reccomend playing the extra "Blood mode" and "IF mode", which you unlock by collecting all the gems before beating the game.
The game itself is ominous and makes you feel uneasy
We take those
Top tier game, fun puzzles, immensely interesting lore.
I played it when I was younger with my sister. When I got older and saw the art got remastered, we played it again. I like it!
I LOVED IT! it was incredible, i wish there was more of it. the story is incredible too and its amazing how there has not been a 2nd part. oh and Of course it has the original with it, it changes some stuff not much from what ive been able to note, but still really good i would 100 porcent recommend
Oh and, it has connection with the RPG Misao
I discovered this game 2days ago,i played all the runs ( normal blood and if) and i was SHATTERED by the story.
Playing as Aya who reminds me of Alice madness return, resolve traps, collecting gems, see all the poor souls wandering in the mansion because of the "doctor".
spoilers ahead ; Seeing the 3 endings on the normal run broke my heart,Aya is never truly happy,as Maria said,it run in the family. On one she is getting captured by Maria,on the another by her father who transform her as a doll, and the true ending is not a good one for me,as she is,getting like her father..
the fact that her mom get killed by the father is very sad too,i didnt expect that tbh.
i really like this game, and i recommend it,even if it can be tricky sometimes
the lore was wild, the amount of screaming my friends heard on vc was also wild
play this for a spooky rpgmaker type horror game
Off to the mansion fields you go, where the little ones frolic in the snow
Ready for war, says the man with optics
A crescendo of glory, the blaring of chainsaws
Where the poor and aloft become immortalized, punitively
At the decree of a mad family
Hidden from sight, forgotten by God, truly the dead do walk at night
A conniving curse, wrought with the stench of rot
A perpetual dance, of life and death
Lines blurred, in that ignoble palace
Do you have what it takes to make it out alive?
Or would you join them in the forever ball
Of the mansion?
Mad father is a fun little puzzle horror game that lasts about 3-5 hours. I would highly recommend getting it on sale if you enjoy other horror games like it. The story isn't anything crazy, but it is still engaging. It really shines when it comes to the puzzles. I would give it a 8/10, definitely buy and play on sale.
Yep, is funny game about crazy daddy. I was hoping that puzzles must more hard, but not, its really simple and can be solved by anyone. For this price you get a impressive game on RPG Maker and 6-7 hours of running out from cursed dolls. Enjoy!
solid game but salty price tho, you should definitely buy on sale. average play time is 2 - 2.5 hrs and it has decent story. not the scariest but kinda eerie game. 9/10
noice
Who wouldn't love to get chased by a hot dad?
As my first experience with an RPG-maker game, I can only compare Mad Father Remake to itself. I used to shy away from both 2D and pixel graphics until I got so bored of realistic walking simulators that I decided to broaden my horizons. I may not have found my new favorite genre, but every second of this was still time well spent. A straightforward narrative unfurls before you like a roll of paper as you accompany 10-year-old Aya through the dangers of her family mansion housing odd creatures, hidden passages and otherworldly dimensions with the goal of unearthing its dark secrets.
If you have a controller, this game is fairly easy to play with its forgiving QTEs few and far between, multiple manual save points and no-sweat puzzles. Since the beginning of the game passes wandering about the same hallways before entering an underground area for a more linear path, an in-game map could've been of help when revisiting locations, however, this is not indispensable to successful navigation. Excluding a cringy audio effect here and there, the soundscape was well-constructed and supported the unsettling, mystery-thick atmosphere. The static, anime-style CGIs really enhanced the immersion by adding an extra layer of variety to the top-down perspective, breathing life into the pixelated characters by depicting their emotions more accurately.
Neither the story nor execution of Mad father is groundbreaking but the atmosphere surely is a memorable one - despite being on the more casual side of horror, for a game made almost entirely out of pixels, it managed a short and engaging ride. I'd recommend giving away a few bucks to experience the legendary chase by a chainsaw-wielding maniac of a father!

This is my favorite RPGMaker game of all time. The gameplay and puzzles are so much fun and the story is captivating. 10/10 recommend!
🥕
honestly the dad was hot
good game
love rpg horror games like this
great game
Mad father is a game with a terrible story but great execution thats all u need to know.
i have love this game for a long time , i did not expect a remake of the game with more story . this game is beautiful with the music , the story and the design of the game . i highly recommended you play if you love crazy psycho dad
Similar experience to Corpse Party, which I also enjoyed, although much shorter. The puzzles were really easy, but I'd consider that a plus. The story was interesting and I managed to get all the orbs without any guides. I managed to get all the endings, but I was too tired to go for an NG+ / other mode - maybe I will try them in the future. The unsettling atmosphere and gore worked really well with the story this game was trying to tell.
AAAAUUGH!! This is my by far FAVORITE RPG maker horror game. Playing as little Aya seems so innocent, but with the new additions to the remake of the game that came out a few years ago…..nothing seems to have any innocent background anymore. There’s such deep pain in this game though that will also make you feel the sorrow Aya is feeling involving her parents. Every ending this game has to offer either gives you chills down your spine or leaves you with a broken heart. With whichever ending you get though, the game will feel complete. That’s just how Mad Father is. Which really is the true good ending?
