This original story, based on the mythology of the massively popular PARANORMAL ACTIVITY film franchise, features our proprietary scare engine allowing a different experience every time you dare to play.
Armed with a battery hungry flashlight, you find yourself exploring what appears to be a quiet average looking home in a woodsy neighborhood. Before long, you discover you’re not alone as you discover the clues unraveling the horrifying mystery of what’s gone on in this house and struggle to survive the terror that hunts you.
For an even more terrifying experience, switch to the highly popular VR Mode which immerses you in the environment using minimum Room Scale combined with our Immersive Movement Role-play System (IMRS). After the tutorial, you're on your own. Zero onscreen directions or HUD in your face, you’re never taken out of the immersion.

GAMEPLAY LENGTH:
Gameplay length will vary on gameplay style. There are no Quicktime events in this game and its up to the player to discover and unravel the story. Its pretty much an open world in the house, so explore where you can. Completionist can be in this game for many many hours. Standard playtime will still be hours unless you knew exactly where every item was. So please don't share the location of items and ruin it for others. We will include some randomization of the in the future to make it more difficult.

Random moments of terror means you never know when a haunting will strike, you must be alert at all times. Our proprietary Scare Randomizer system will create random scares beyond story moments. This means you never know when a scare is going to happen. This is like a real haunted house. sometimes there a bunch of scares and others times maybe very little or nothing at all. There is tremendous terror in the unknown. keep yours eyes open at all times, and be sure to wear headphones, the sound alone will make you crap your pants.

WARNING: WILL NOT WORK WITH "NEXT GEN" VR HEADSETS (STEAM LINK)! COULD NOT GET TO RUN!
I have an Oculus quest 3 and use steam link for every VR game. After attempting multiple ways to run the game it will always have a fatal crash error as soon as I click run game. I understand it is an older game however, kind of ridiculous you cant play a STEAM VR game using STEAM LINK. From all I could find it looks like virtual desktop does not work as well. Seems like it comes down to Unreal Engine not being able to recognize/identify steam link (or other wireless VR connections) and immediately shuts down, giving an error. This is not the first game to have this problem however, there is no known fix for this game. I was able to start the game and walk around in non-VR mode.
The ONLY way I found users being able to play the game using newer headsets was using a direct cable to the PC to your headset. Other than that, between discussions on the steam community page and Reddit forms, no one has seem to find a fix and the game has become "abandoned" from around 2018.
I will not be refunding due to picking up the game for around $2 however, this is in hope someone finds a fix or devs will magically make a patch...........
I bought this game for $1.99 on sale. I paid too much. The controls are insufferable. It runs horribly. The game is nearly unplayable. Clearly, someone cashed in on a franchise name and developed a game without any knowledge. This doesn't even seem to have anything to do with Paranormal Activity. Bad.

Although I enjoyed the game very much, the devs inability or unwillingness to fix their achievements in the game has really bummed me out. If you don't care for achievements then this game is great. Not $20 great (too short for that) but I enjoyed it. If you are a completionist, you will be upset to find your work goes wasted here. I'll change this review if it ever gets fixed.

At the beginning it's unclear where to find the house key.

terrible controls. you can go forward/backward OR strafe. you can't walk diagonally. the hitbox of your character collides constantly with thing that are far away. the game gives almost unnoticeable feedback if you can open a door or not.
Amazing game with some genuine scares!
This is one of the first horror games that actually gave me a real scare. Sure, there are a few bugs—some achievements are glitched and can’t be unlocked, and picking a mode doesn’t always explain what it does—but overall, it’s a solid experience. Being a game from 2017, it has some issues with modern controllers, though there are workarounds.
Even with those minor issues, the game is awesome. The story is fun, the scares are spot on, and I’d love to see a remake. With updated graphics and systems, this could easily become one of the best VR horror games again. If that ever happens, I’ll be there on day one, ready to play, record, and stream it :D
i might be fun, it might not. idk. i have the quest 2 and the controls are so bad i cannot get through the main menu/tutorial. idk how anyone could design this game and release it in good faith knowing it doesnt work. i requested a refund. just do not buy this game.
I couldn't play this for the longest time because the game didn't support the quest 2. I decided to try again, and now am able to enjoy it. It is a very very good horror game. Great for seeing your friends shake as they try to enter rooms. Recommended!
