! That Bastard is Trying to Steal Our Gold ! (2016) by WTFOMGames
The countless voiced negative reviews about this game are ALL warranted to some degree, especially because of its shoddy controls, its boring lack lustre artwork and the constant rehashing of a background texture pack. With the accompanying price tag of $4.50, I tend to agree with the wit of another reviewer who simply typed, “! That Developer is trying to Steal Our Gold !”.
On the flip side however, I actually had some fun with this title. It’s an unforgiving 17 levelled platformer, with 2 of those levels largely being a short animation or tailored scene. While level progression seems all over the place, there is some indication of a logical cohesive forward momentum, largely thanks to an NPC enemy being introduced half way and the realisation that time and effort must have been made by the developer to ensure each level is at least passable though ridiculously challenging at times.
The objective of the game is to make your way through a series of rooms and steal all the gold that’s in them so that the exit portal, which will be the same door which you used as an entry point, re-opens. There will be several obstacles on your venture through such as breakable walls, spikes, and ‘no touch’ dragon fruit like homing obstacles and more.
The title of the game seems to reference that we may in fact be the bad guy who is stealing all the gold from the ‘Lerpikons’. This is a unique suicidal lemming type Leprechaun who constantly throws dynamite in the direction of the player and who moves when dynamite lands within their vicinity.
Made using the Unity engine, this appears to be the second game of this Russian Developer whose real name appears not to be Valentin as he so often prescribes, but really, it’s Petr Petrov. He transitioned to Steam shortly after Desura went bankrupt and openly snickered how easy it was to put poorly optimised products such as his own onto Steam.
While acknowledging its subpar quality, the developer on the other hand has also voiced frustration with the large amount of poster hate he has received and negative feedback which he has micromanaged on the discussion board. This can be quickly chalked to the developer’s immaturity though who tried to emotionally blackmail financial support for his products by falsely claiming that he had brain cancer and that proceeds of his game was going towards treatment.
For someone who claims to be in his 30’s, you would think he would act responsibly and be extremely careful on such a public forum, but alas even in the discussion board of another one of his games I see him irresponsibly jest about suicide if no one buys it.
Peculiar decisions are a constant theme with this developer. Take for instance the fact that he has chosen to use 5 free jazz tracks from Kevin Mc Leod. Why he chose this particular theme, thinking it was fitting to have for a hardcore rage quit platformer is rather odd.
While the game is subpar, it works. It tests you on timing, patience, the ability to plan ahead, to aim while jumping and to collect falling gold. I also applaud the uniqueness of the Lerpikons and their frenzied defensive actions which can be mastered against, especially once you realise that they can be forced to move if you simply get them to throw dynamite where they are in fact standing.
There are several things I thought was missing other than the obvious gruntled complaints from the many of the other reviewers.
1) I thought it would have been a good idea if there was a trophy reward or a bonus section if you were able to master each level using a limited supply of dynamite.
2) I also thought Lerpikon lore was extremely missing here. Since we play as a slender tiny Leprechaun character, maybe we are just stealing back all the gold that the Lerpikons had in fact stolen from us earlier? If this was the case, then maybe we were not the bad guy here as we are led to believe. Will the solitary Lerpikon avenge his friends’ deaths and take back all the gold that was stolen in a sequel?
In final, I had fun, it had a quirkiness to it I liked and while I give the product a barely justifiable thumbs up for those reasons (if you must get it, get it when its on sale). On the other-hand, I give the developers unneeded, unprofessional and deceitful bouts of emotional blackmail a solid thumbs down. I guess like the Lerpikons who foolishly programmed the doors to only open once all their gold had been taken, can only really blame themselves as their own worst enemy. So too, the developer can only really blame himself as his own worst enemy why all his golden sales have been stolen due to his foolish tactics and rants.

My Reviews: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/6843548/
Platformer with stiff gameplay, no story - which you would have imagined there would be one with a name like this - terrible unpolished graphics, repetitive crappy music, and very boring uninspiring levels.
Only thing is good for is trading cards, as its badge is dirt cheap.
Way way overpriced for what it is. The only people trying to steal anything are the developer's. 2/10

! That Bastard Is Trying To Steal Our Gold !
False advertising! Actually named "That Dick is Trying to Steal Our Gold", bad! 0/10
The game is boring and very grinding. In all honesty, for the price it's at, the game isn't worth it. Wait for it to go on sale and then buy it just for a collection! The game really isn't meant to be beaten as there is no real ending achievement of objective that changes throughout the entirity of the game.
This game gives me life
The dev has cancer?

! That Bastard Trying To Steal Our Gold ! is a strategic platformer that requires pinpoint accuracy and precise movements in order to comlete a level. One could say that this is called a "Rage Platformer" such as the likes of other games such as Unfair Platformer. You play as a theif, who I have dubbed "Bob", and have a goal to steal all of the gold in the mine from the green creatures you see in the preview of the game, Leprechauns. The game scales in difficulty as it progresses. New "enemies" appear every few levels to provide a challenge and the precision aspect makes the game repetitive.
There are really only 3 types of enemies. The first is what I call a "virus ball"..... cause it looks like that thing from YuGiOh Kappa. The second is a homing ninja star. And finally we have the glorious leprechauns.
The main issue with this game is just the repetitiveness and blandness of the game. There are only 17 levels and you are only given a limited amount of dynamite in the level to work with. Yes, this does provide some strategy to the game, but overall it just takes away from the core gameplay. Often, the game would require you to do a trickshot with the dynamite and it would take multiple tries. Unless, you get everything perfect in a level, you could end up being one or two dynamite short and have to start the entire level over again.
There is little plot to this game as well (IKR PLOT, never would've guessed with this game). Basically there are like 2 cutscenes. One to introduce the leprichauns and why they are angry at you and the second for the end game. Not much to it.
Overall, the controls are actually not that bad. The first level explains them fairly well. It takes some time to get used to but it is easy once you are able to get it down. As of right now, I would not recommend getting this game. The amount of content the game has to offer, the rage it can provide, and the sheer blandness of the story/gameplay makes it not worth it.
I would recommend it, however if the game is under $1.00. This seems like a game that should be marketed at a $0.99 or lower price. That seems more than reasonable. The inition $3 or even the summer sale $1.19 is not worth it at all. So come back to this game when its price is lower.
Gameplay: 3/10 - Interesting concept but tons of repetition
Plot: 2/10 - Lackluster plot that gets introduced halfway through
Visuals: 1/10 - I thought my character was Bob the Builder - No joke
Overall: 2/10 - Wait for a sale.

Although this game had several negative comments, strangely none of them actually said anything about the game. They were more concerned about calling those who thought the game was okay. I wasn't sure whether to believe the story the developer had posted on the sales page, but purchased the game anyway as I do like platformers and it was very cheap at only £1.99
Contrary to the naysayers (one of which thinks anyone who likes this is basically a simpleton) I enjoyed playing it for well over an hour. It's pretty basic graphic wise, with a retro feel to it and there's no bells or whistles included. The basic premise is to steal gold from the Leprechauns dungeons (I though the gold looked like golden delicious apples), picking up extra dynamite on the way. Once you've collected everything you then need to escape the level through it's portal.
To access many of the gold sacks you need to blast away at the walls and floors/platforms that block your way but the levels become increasingly challenging as you progress. The dynamite needs to be used sparingly; even with the extra sticks Care needs to be taken when using the dynamite when destroying walls to gain access to the gold because you may destroy your only way to gain access to your escape route.
For me it had everything I needed to enjoy the game, that is challenging levels (apart from the early ones), no fuss graphics and dynamite. :)

I will add more once I've played the game for a few more hours (maybe soon maybe much later)
So I bought this game purely because only 2 other people have reviewed it and I want to have a popular review. Overall great gam [10/10 would pay for it install it and play it for 5 minutes so I can post this review again] ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
This game is only for pro gamers. This game is basicaly an add on to CS:GO which is already a decent game, but this game tops it. This game is probobly my favorit shooter ever. Just saying but this game helped me not kill myself and helped me stop cutting. Now that I own this game my parents respect me living inside of their basement. Also top sountrack ever, I think this game should get a game of the year award for best concept. Lets list some of the good things that come from this game
