I did not enjoy this one as much as the first game in this series.
This is probably because unless you absolutely know what you're doing and have specced into the right stats, you will run into a dead run like I did and be forced to restart the game and make different choices in order to actually progress. It would have been nice to have known that ahead of time, but I suppose that would have spoiled events and this is somewhat vaguely hinted at throughout the first game.
As for this game's story, it was interesting to incorporate 'shell-shock' and the more insidious realities of war as events continue. Even though I didn't particular find the ending or relationship dynamics with other characters very satisfying, it was nice to have somewhat of a conclusion from the last game's events (even though the series has since carried on in a third game).
I imagine it would have been more exciting to have played the second game years later rather than trying to attempt a back-to-back playthrough in short succession, but what can you do if you didn't enjoy it as much as the first?
this is INCREDIBLY well written, and meeting this universe's version of Sharpe was the absolute highlight.
That's good soldiering.
Everything to do with Cassius alone is enough to recommend and that's before I get into the dopamine rush every Dragoon gets from butchering the Serfs of Antar. Go play Sabers, then play Guns, then play Lords, then wait 8 years until Wars is finished.
Genuinely entertaining experience enough to be replayed multiple times to get the best outcome!
