There are no hand held controllers to encumber your experience. Your flight is gentle and relaxing, because NovaWake Smooth Drive (TM) makes flying responsive yet comfortable. Be careful to remember any appointments you may have. Because, some people find Gravity Compass so relaxing, that they do not want to leave. A thirty minute flight, can seem to go by in a moment.

Great Music! Seems to be a lot of fun so far.
A+A+A+A+.
Saw the video and pics on the store page? Congrats, you're done! A few light particles and touch of music, thats it. Improvement suggestions:
- tone down the focus bloom a bunch. It's just washing out the visuals.
- Add visual details as you close more as you pass though
- Add some interactions or at least visual variation.
-- Even a few basic things like streamers, follow the particle, collisions, etc would bring the value closer to the (low) price
NOT RELAXING:
You have a white dot center of the screen at all times.
The cave is dark and you feel confined.
Often the music ends and you have to navigate to the music.
Often you reach the sides and the screen flips around to center you.
The cave itself is dull and needs color, dripping water, anything besides grey.
This needs dancing light not just moving white dots. Colors don't change or move. You just travel through a grey cave to a few colored areas that all rotate clockwise. I grew tired of traveling from the purple area to the blue area to then what, I guess travel to the yellow again. I care not for the $3 spent but I did want to relax. This did not relax me.
This is horribly disappointing. It's not especially soothing or good for meditation. It's actually pretty boring. There's nothing to do in this game except float through a cave, stare at some galaxy-type things that are also in the cave, and listen to the music.
It moves pitifully slow, and you can stare at an option to speed up, but that only lasts for a second or two. If this was early access and they were going to add in more things to do, more songs, maybe a series of cave tunnels to explore with different themes to the music, maybe this might be worth it.
If gravity compass is supposed to be a mental massage, it rubs me the wrong way. It's more like a sedative, not that it's relaxing but that it's boring and dark and you could probably float into a corner of the cave and have the music stop completely and so it'd be dark and quiet enough to actually sleep. That's not a compliment...
They claim a "30 minute flight could go by in a moment" but seriously, there's not even enough to see to take up 30 minutes and the only way you could spend that long is if you DID fall asleep.
I know it's only $3 and hey, what do you expect for $3? I expect a game that lasts more than 10 minutes. Surge is free and is much cooler both visually and musically than this thing. Save your money.
Well, it's what you pay for so they say. For the price it's okay. Nothing special. Graphics are, "meh". Music is okay, and I get the whole premise of relaxation and all of that but most of us are looking for spectacular graphics, imagery and immersery. This is merely a tiny taste of what it could be. For the price? Again, it's okay. Just don't expect a masterpiece on a beer budget.
beautiful although samish, universes are kind of all the same but feel like i want to go back there. music was beautiful but need more like it blended in. overall, money well spent. wonder if its that beautiful before the mosquito hits the bug zapper :/
did not recieve mental massage
entertaining for about 5 mintues, which at 2.99 make it an expensive game. its like paying $36 for a game that gave you 1 hour of entertainment. after you realize the core mechanics of the game it quickly gets boring. you simlply float around a cave with galaxies in them. when you stare at a galaxy, it plays an instruments melody in a song that loops every minute or so. the game/program needs more than one song and enviroment. i was expecting to be seamlessly transitioned to procedurally generated enviroments and music depending on what i was staring at. for instance if i interacted somehow with a plant the enviroment could change to a forest, or if played with something spooky it would put me in a spooky setting, etc etc. nope, just the one song...over and over again...and one enviroment. it also has lowest common denominator controls meant for the gear vr.
I bought this for my wife, to get away from it all.

Agree with traceyshellito, can be a gorgeous relaxing distraction, even the great Pink Floyd when they wrote their Echoes, Meddle or Atom Heart Mother would have loved this game, incredible for meditation and inspiration. Worth a try with this music:)
I would even have added some sort of "autopilot" mode, where you could just sit and watch, riding from galaxy to galaxy...
The technical side looks good, the images, colors, shapes, effects are beautiful, low on frame rate, very smooth with no stutter. Use it on a standard monitor, no VR yet, but had to struggle a bit because of the default resolution (320x200) way too low, that makes the texts unreadable (using Win10). Everything Ok after setting 1920x1080, but tricky to find the way when texts are unreadable:)
Now, I would say what all other comments state also: what's next ?
This is a good conceptual demonstrator for such kind of galactic immersion, but it lacks some sort of story or mission, which is still to invent. Curently, difficult to categorize it as a game, a simulation, a relaxation tool ... or something else ?
Let's wait and see what the designers will propose next, but I find it to be a good entertainement driver for the moment.
Ummm.... its ok if you want to float around a bit with the same music track but with little change-ups. It says "Level One" when you start but I have no earthly idea how to get to level 2. I floated to every galaxy I could find but nothing happens. I play as many galaxies as possible by looking at as many as I can and still nothing. I'm not sure what's supposed to happen here (if anything). Some guide or expectations should be set in steam so we know a little of what's to expect. I'm not sure if I can consider this a game really. Maybe I'm missing something...
I don't have VR as yet, so I've run this in 'flat screen' mode on my PC. Anybody who ever watched the media player visualisations to music will be familiar with the premise. If you've watched the sequence in 2001 a Space Odyssey with the space ship approach to the majestically spinning space station (and if not why not?) this is probably for you. Its pretty and relaxing - but it goes nowhere and does nothing - while I can see the appeal of walking through a galaxy of stars, this is a sit down simulation, so not sure what the point would be in VR. I think you need to go somewhere, be taken on a journey through those spiral arm galaxies and feel like there might be a destination, like watching the galaxies birth. I confess to not being keen on the music provided. Vangelis music for Cosmos from the Heaven & Hell album or something classical feels like it might be a better fit. The ability to switch the music for something trance like of your choice would be a future improvement I'd make. On the plus side, it ran wall without stutter and the mouse can guide your path but you can't speed up or slow down the gliding motition. Cons: it needs to be higher res. (I ran it using my monitors native resolution and it made the white blobs a bit intrusive.) Well worth it for the money as a relaxing way to chill out at the end of a stressful day light some fragrant diffuser candles and go and lay on the bed and watch it would be my advice. will be interesting to see if Nova makes more levels and what they do with them. (And undersea journey? A flight through the clouds from dawn to sunset? From earth through the clouds and into space and beyond our galaxy? The possibilities are endless!) This is officially my new favourite waste of time!
For the price it is a nice experience. I did have 2 issues with it. 1. the dot didnt go away once the game was started which broke the immersion a bit always having a white dot exactly where I wanted to look and 2. I was unable to change the graphics beyond 1176x664 even tho it appeared like I should be able to run the slider down to select higher values, the selector dot just went behind the slider bar and did not affect it in any way. I was able to change down to 640x480 or anything inbetween the two visible extremes, just couldnt get it to scroll down for higher values.
Both issues seemed like easy enough fixes, so no points deducted for them :)
The visuals are very nice and if your looking for something calming for people to try who otherwise might not want to venture into shooters or scary games this is a good deal for 2 bucks.
This is a sit down game that uses the keyboard/mouse according to the description, but I was unable to use the keyboard and mouse to do much (and I tried the mouses scroll wheel to try to change the resolutions and the arrow keys with no luck.
It is indeed a relaxing experience and I liked how each galaxy I looked at added a new element to the musical score. I liked how it moved me in the direction I was looking ever so slowly. It's worth the money if you enjoy self-meditation, as I do. The latest update allows it to work on both Oculus and Vive. UPDATE: In response to Cyrix, I'll just say that time seems to slow down when you're in Gravity Compass. 6 Minutes feels like 60 : )
