The player will have to carefully pick their path through the abandoned hallways on Temple Island, through winding catacombs and dark corners to solve the mysteries that lurk within the labyrinth.
The game in it's current state was originally planned to be a part of a much larger game, but we decided to launch this version as a short free adventure, so anyone with a Steam account can play it without paying a dime. We really hope you will enjoy the experience, as we made it public for just that reason: For you people to get a glimpse of what Medusa could have become with a longer production time and additional funding. Right now we are working on something similar, a spiritual sequel to Medusa and we hope to show/tell you more about it soon!

Short atmospheric horror game in Greek mythology which is a bonus point. I did pay for the DLC to support them though I cannot recommend a payment for the game in its current state. It has a severe bug (e.g. bow won't reappear if you cancel during draw); crippled fighting (the bow will just go off when the monster is close) and above all the clunky- and slow movement speed. Still these guys are on the right track if they fix that and add more content to it.
Yeah alright it's free, but that said it simply is not a very good game and I fail to see why it would inspire any of us to actually 'back it' to make it more fully fledged.
You spend most of the game chasing 'it' (the creature) then it chases you. But before that you are given a bow and arrows, but they cannot hurt the creature nor create a sound diversion as as soon as you fire one it looks straight over to where the arrows were fired from. And they are used once only. Lkewise you are told that torches will naturally extinguish themselves, but it only happens at certain points. Eh?!
Yes, there's an atmosphere (of sorts), but no puzzles and not a lot of gameplay all told apart from walking around.
I know there are funding reasons for this but what am I supposed to do? Lie about it when there are 1000s of other games to be played and supported?
It really thinks it can be the Greek Mythology Amnesia or something. Sorry but not even close and it does not have the potential to be so, hence why theit next project is somethng entirely different...
Good horor game, sound so horrible applaud for brave who's playing.
brilliant short game, luved it, thanks
Let's say that this game is decent.
It is pretty much a horror game, not specifically scary, but in a good percentage.
Although small, the story is well done. Based on the Greek mythology, with a decent plot, since you read all the messages around the map. On the other hand, there are some glitches, major and minor, which can make the difference between a decent and a great gameplay. Torches disappearing, the beast can spot you even if you stay hidden. I have even faced some crashes, even though my PC runs this game perfectly on ultra.
To conclude:
Benefits:
- Based on Greek mythology
- Decent plot
- Well-made map
- Decent graphics
Drawbacks:
- Too small gameplay, almost like a demo
- Major and Minor glitches (Torches disappearing, beast can spot you easily, game crash)
Based on my opinion:
Gameplay 9/10
Graphics 8.5/10
Plot 8.5/10
Misc. 7/10
Glitchy the torch you get disappears or at least mine did so i was just stuck in the dark trying to get it to work, it runs pretty slow for the not astouning grahpics. the forest runs fine on medium level on my laptop but this game on medium was jumoy. need to be fixed
A horror game steeped in Greek mythology, as the name hints to.
Was pleasantly surprised that for a horror game, you actually start outdoors, and as you descend into the catacombs you cant help but admire the colorful well designed passageways and rooms.
But you soon discover, a dangerous beast is after you.
You can arm yourself with a bow & arrow and try to defeat him and escape, but don't miss your shot, or it might be your last.
However, was a little disappointed at the ending, as I felt it was a little bit of a slap in the face.
Definitely worth the purchase price of free, but don't be too surprised or frustrated about the ending.
Don't take my word for it, and check out my video by clicking on the link.

Good (free) game; reminds me of Amnesia: The Dark Descent; just set in ancient Greece.
Pretty cool story. Nice atmosphere and ideas used. The only nitpick I have is that the game gives you a bow, but only makes you use it once, and it can't be used against the monster (which I tried to do twice).
I'm not sure if the concept of a horror game set in ancient times was done before, but this is pretty cool. Can recommend.
Note: Currently, the game's about 1 hour long.
Descend the Depths to Hades
In Medusa's Labyrinth you do not fight hordes of mythological creatures. You do not battle the gods in epic warfare. You do not wage war against Sparta's enemies. No, in this unique first person dungeon crawling horror game, you navigate a vast underground labyrinth, piecing together a woeful tale about a young girl named Alyona and her friend Arcas - all the while attempting to evade a ferocious minotaur. Armed only with a torch and a single bow, players must find their way through the dark maze and discover what atrocities occurred down there all those years ago.
Medusa's Labyrinth places emphasis on atmosphere and creating a sense of dread and hopelessness over violence and gore. As you descend deeper and deeper into the labyrinth, the music gets more and more tense and uneasy. Locating more pieces of parchment detailing the horrors of the maze crafts a story of insanity, death, dread and evil beyond words, and really helps lend to the atmosphere of the game.
Medusa's Labyrinth is a modern indie horror masterpiece.
Its free. So.....Thumbs up!
Looks like a game that was abandoned halfway towards being completed by the devs.
Shame........... it would have been worth at least $2 if they finished it.
The game is good but it's very short.
its so damn spooky. shoot the beast when you first find it, do it. really good controls in my mind, well thought out, simple objectives. giving it a strong 8.5/10
This game has a very engaging atmosphere, and got us very scared and nervous as we went through early on. For a free game it is well designed and looks nice. The monster itself wasn't as scary as it could have been, they should make the killing animation scarier. The story wasn't super engaging but it really didn't need to be becuase the tone and feeling of playing was enough to make me want to keep going and I still wanted more when it was done.
The torch was useful for creating tension whenever it went out, andI'm still not sure if that was random or if timed. Suddenly being plunged into darkness was intense and I would start moving quicker to find a fire. THe bow was a bit misleading I think, becuase you are set up to think it would help hurt the monster, but (as I even notice in the trailer now) it doesn't do any damage to him - although it might have value to get the monster angry.
All in all this was a fun hour and a half of gameplay, and although it has some flaws and could do with a slight graphics upgrade, the great atmoshpere, tone and fear all come together to make this a really fun game - especially as its free!
Playing this game with a headset on, really is nerve-racking.
You have no idea what's going on, no idea what horror you are going to encounter.
You have no idea how you are going to defend yourself, you have no idea if you will even be able to see what hits you.
That's what the game does best, along with the sound effects and musical ambience.
It's brilliant. To set the story in an ancient Greece, full of mythology and mysteries...setting is quite the original idea for that kind of horror game. Worked for me. I always picture a minotaur to be more massive than the ones you encounter here but that's just me.
Although, a full game only populated with the same ennemies in the same labyrith might get old quick.
Greek mythology is full of dreadfull and mystic creatures that beg to be used for horror games.
This developper has a huge potential to make an awesome game, capable to rival Amnesia or Alien Isolation in terms of "fuck! the monster is here, I'm shitting my pants right now!"
Well done, guys.
All the best for the future.
The game looked nice, the looked pretty, and pretty okay. Didnt think it was scary, I was wrong. Even amnesia wasn't this tense. God****
