Shadwen, an assassin on a quest to kill the king, has a chance encounter with an orphaned girl, Lily. She follows Shadwen on her dangerous journey, but when the ruthless guards get too close, Shadwen must take action right in front of Lily's eyes.
Will Shadwen risk the girl's budding trust by resorting to violence, or try and find another way while keeping her real purpose concealed?
To kill or not to kill - that is the question.
FEATURES
- MOVE FREELY - Sneak and explore around the dark and gritty medieval province and use the environment to your advantage - use your rope to grapple onto rooftops, silently drop from ceilings, or veil yourself in the shadows.

A fun stealth game with a unique and well executed idea.
Poor optimisation for Steam Deck. I know it says not supported but there’s plenty of games not supported that work well on the Deck. It’s just the game crashes often and is stuck in the loading screen a lot, even with different proton compatibility versions.
Shadwen feels more like a college kid's project that barely passed as a video game than it does as an actual game. It feels more experimental than it does an actual finished product, even from an indie studio. Too much of the studio's previous work can be seen here and it's obvious that they didn't want to step too far out of their comfort zone. Full Review Below.

One of the best stealth games I have played. Good gameplay, good history... Is a great game in general terms.
Pretty fun and short stealth game, but you can definitely feel the low budget sometimes.
It's not jank, it's the dark spirits.
Good game. Fun concept. Feels kinda like it had the rug pulled out from under it near the end of it's development period. There are some tell tale signs of unfinished mechanics and unpolished details. Overall it is a game and a full one at that! But there are some things like the grapple hook that don't always work how they are supposed to. Has a few interactions between the characters with still images that don't necessarily go together or are two slightly different art styles. I would say that if it had another 6 months to a year of development it would definitely be a rather heavy hitter. Unfortunately it's just, ok. It's definitely worth $16, there's a lot of content, it's just content that's not quite done cooking.
6/10 would be murderous medieval spider-woman again
I imagine the Plague Tales games had a lot of influence from Shadwen. A female protaganist and a child companion with similar stealth missions to Plague Tales in dark cities with deadly guards wandering about.
The difference to Plague Tales is the time stop and reversal (similar to the game "Iron Danger"), used when you mess up and die, which is so much better than restarting the level. And also the protaganist has a rope gun (like in Dishonored) to spiderman along the rooftops.
The tutorial is in my humble opinion is the hardest level in the game, with an obstacles course more difficult than anything else you will encounter. The controls and time reversal feel super weird initially but do grow easier to use as the game progresses. I could see many players quitting in the first level for these reasons, but if you get thru the early stages, the game truly becomes highly enjoyable.
Spoiler Alert: There is no end boss fight, which is disapointing; sneaking thru the final room ends the game. If you like boss fights, this game is not for you. If you love stealth then I recommend Shadwen. It's fun.
Short but fun indie stealth title. I had enough fun to finish the main playthrough, but didn't bother with the reverse run.

Combination of stealth and physics works well. Your little friend that follows you does not get killed, which is great for smooth gameplay. There is bit of the time control in the game too.
Shadwen is a game that ultimately falls short of expectations. While it presents an interesting concept, the execution leaves much to be desired. The controls are cumbersome, making it frustrating to manage both characters effectively. It often feels like you’re controlling a video—stopping and moving it rather than engaging with the gameplay in a meaningful way. In fact, even if you don’t press the keyboard and mouse, the character will stop, further emphasizing this editing-like experience.
Visually, the game does not impress, even when set to the highest quality. The graphics lack the polish needed to create an immersive experience. Overall, Shadwen fails to deliver enjoyment, making it a struggle to invest time in playing. I found myself disappointed with the overall experience and unable to understand the positive reviews it has received.
Hi, this game is a little bit fun, looks alright and runs well. the game goes really slow , i only done 3 levels, but as its pacing, this is not my type of game. however if you into stealth game like this, might be fun for you. i would recommend.
Turns out, it's way harder not to kill anyone than to just kill everyone.
Uh Mazing! A great stealth game where you move quickly in the shadows! In 3d too! Also comes with a neat level editor! I admit the guards are a bit dumb but this is a very fun game with a great great story!
