...The gods and their Magic are gone long ago, and everything was left but a prophecy :
“From the Darkness shall rise the Light, From the Light shall rise the Darkness”.
Since then, every 16 years old boy has to challenge the "Sanctuary", as it’s said that Magic will be back with the One who would defeat its Beast.
Your hero will take part in the prophecy and find the true meaning of the "Fall of Gods", the story about the Genesis of the World, and perhaps, more about his lost mother.
The Fall of Gods is a traditional indie old-school action-RPG, where you could revive your favourite 16bit titles, but with more magic, and orchestral pieces of music.
If you like to defeat dungeons, collect & swap items, fight with different weapons, cast spells, wear armours, rafting, hidden spots, puzzles, drive balloon, brew potions, side-quests, fairy fountains, a sense of irony, and of course, if you like to save the World?
Then you will like The fall of gods

i have no idea what that was supposed to be but it was not a fun game
I've not got far but enjoying the working it out, got stuck i don't no how to empty the flasks .
It's a shame this game wasn't given a budget with a big studio, I think it has potential to be a great game. The story is really well crafted, the mechanics are solid, and it doesn't eat a lot of your time. It definitely ended up giving you too much magic in the end, there were spells I hardly used or never used. Some of the weapons were superfluous but this has all the right ideas in the right places. It doesn't eat a lot of your time, either. The pacing is great.
There are definitely some things I'd consider sloppy, mostly regarding collision detection.
I lost count of how many times I got stuck against a wall or the game decided it couldn't finish an automated movement sequence and park me halfway through a tile.
It's kinda like playing Pokemon.... if it had no Pokemon. 0/10
Really cool, inspired by Legend of Zelda, Secret of Mana etc.
Worth the time invested in this. :)
I want to play this game.
I want to enjoy it.
I want to beat and take all achievements.
But crashes and glitches don't want me to.
In counterpart the developer is communicative and always looking to support and fix, by what I saw of that. And still I am expending bunch of hours enjoying the adventure.
I really enjoyed this game. Great story line and animation and everything ties together in the end. Looking forward to more from you guys! :)
DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT A SPOILER OR TWO!!!
Awesome Game!
To me, playing the Fall of Gods made me feel like I was on an adventure. I can stand a turn based battle game with a good story, but it's also fun to play an action one like this. Aside from the few glitches I seemed to be addicted to find,
like going through certain tiles I wasn't supposed to (cliffs, a couple walls, etc.), I felt the game delivered its fun. The story was pretty straight forward with the Four Energies, the gods, and killing the Dark One. I also kind of liked how it ended with the hero finding his mother, but I felt there could have been a bit more... like what happened to the people of Ergia after he sacrifced himself, and not to mention his father. Overall I liked the game. The spelling was a little off, a lot,
but that didn't bother me. The adventure was definately there, and the dungeons were fun to explore. I also liked the leveling up system, where you could choose which area to level up. I love the maps. I love the story. I love the bosses...
except for that weird Viking Boss, or Poseidon... or whoever he was. He looked a little off.
Saying that, I loved the game.
After such a long time playing this game and trying to get into it, I think I've finally given up. Visually, it's pretty impressive for an RPG Maker game - at least I think it's RPG Maker since those resources (artwork and audio) come from RPG Maker XP. But the game just feels so very tedious, even for an open world kind of game, and there's no real rhyme or reason to anything you need to do or accomplish.
The combat felt okay at best, although the hit detection seemed off at times. It was also easy to fall into a pond or lake and then get stuck. In most cases, you fall into a pond or lake you'd lose some health and respawn on the land where you dropped in. But quite often the game would not remember where to respawn you at, and instead just keep respawning you right back in the pond or lake you fell into, and you're helpless to do anything but either reset the game or watch as your health slowly depletes away.
Constantly having to navigate back and forth across a large landmass without any means of fast travel was another time waster for me. NPC's dropped meaningless clues or would send you on a large fetch quest that often times had you going back and forth across various regions far too often to be any sort of fun.
The biggest challenge in the game is trying to locate all the correct cracks in the floor and walls that will actually do anything of value. You spend so much time straining your eyes for any sort of cracks in the earth you can hit with a pitchfork. And then you get an explosion spell that can open up entrances in the walls. Except half the time one crack in the wall that will reveal an entry way looks no different than the cracks in the walls that do not lead anywhere, and you spend so much time wasting spell power trying to blow everything up, only to then have to leave the dungeon or cave or whatever to recharge your MP.
Some might find it fun to spend aimless hours on a game like this, and that's fine. Maybe this is what all the hype surrounding open world games is all about. If it is, it's not for me.
If you're looking for something a bit more streamlined, and perhaps a bit more story and character driven, you might want to find a different game to play.
Suprisingly great game. I'm not only saying that because it was made with RPGmaker (in my opinion Steam should quit allowing EVERY friggin' RPGmaker game to be Greenlit; 99% of them are terrible). This is a very unique RPG that strays away from the 3d/first person view JRPGs. Take The Legend of Zelda, add spells and skills and this is what you get! Dungeons, towns.. great fun so far. 9/10 an hour in. So much like Zelda games, it's wonderful.
Crashes the instant it starts. Period. And because Steam won't let you post a review until you've played a game for five minutes, I had to sit there and let it "Not Respond(ing)" long enough to allow this comment. Sux.
Just an amazing game.
My short evaluation after finishing:
(+)
- exciting plot
- much to explore
- good riddles
- witty comments
- enough weapons and skills
- if you're stuck or have problems with game or bugs, GeexGames / community helps you very fast (very good support on steam)
- low price for amazing game ;P
(-)
- most boss-fights and fights generall are maybe to easy (you definitely can be overskilled: some rare fights are somewhat difficult, but than long roads you're just to mighty, "sparing" lots of exp helps!)
- there are elements and alignment on the items etc, but i cant find out the meaning of it
- some bugs, you shouldnt play just with one savegame (!)
- no replayability, you can learn/ find & use all skills (spells) and weapons in one game
I buy it for 50%birthday sale, but I also recommend it for the normal price. It's worth it.
Altogether: a big yes! Thanks to GeexGames!
I enjoyed this throwback to oldschool action rpgs with extra stuff. What do I mean by extra stuff? Well back in the good ole days(yes I'm old) you had some games like this, but if you really really remember they were pretty basic. This game has a boat load of spells(skills) to use, weapons, armor, items. It also has little side things you can do..mostly fetch quests but its nice to have little side things... Overall its not a long game or difficult skill wise because you get experience from killing mobs and also for doing quests and sometimes finding experience in a box. You can then use those experience to up your skills to your liking. I hardly used the spells myself and was all melee putting most into str so I was a wee bit too powerful and the game was on the easy side. Now there are some parts that are not easy but those are where you have to figure out what to do(what skill, item, weapon to use) or where to go but maybe that was just me. Overall I wish we had more games like these to play!
Real time combat (like top down Zelda)! Great controller support. I'll have to get used to the 2 decades old system of holding down a key to invoke strafing but since this isn't a 100% shooter/ranged combat, it shouldn't be too hard. I didn't come here for story, so no comment there (and I've hardly played). But if you're looking for a real time action combat system, this is one of those games. It still has tile based movement (I wish the movement was smoother, though. It kinda locks to either horizontal or vertical). It also works well with xbox 360 controller - the controls are mapped out nicely. This game looks it'll be worth it's pricetag, and definitely worth it on sale especially if the real time combat with this art style is what you're looking for.
Being a major fan of chapter 1 and was even more stoked when the dev. Let me beta test Chapter 2. I loved Zelda so I knew right away I would love this game. It has that old school feel that makes miss the old days of gaming. The game is full of action and will never get tiring. I can sometimes be a completion so I wasn't satisfied until I explored every inch of the world. Lots of weapons, armor and spells to collect. The complexity of some of the puzzles can be mind boggling and have you searching for hours. I was probably the first gamer to ever finish this game. I spent months testing, exploring and maxing my characters stats. I recommend to everyone I know! 10/10
Awesome game with cool concepts and riddles, controls took a while to get used to but no serious complaints
I like the secret of mana reference but the attacks feel kinda wonky and the animation is lacking. Movement is also kinda weird. Music is very nice though.
This game certainly has its charms. Even though I often tend to stay away from RPGMaker games, I bought this one precisely because it chooses another approach than so many other of its kind. Instead of boring me to death with the gazillionth implementation of your typical run of the mill JRPG it chooses to utilize a combat system that brings the player back to the times where "Secret of Mana", "Terranigma" and "Illusion of Time" created some of your fondest gaming memories.
Sure, it does have its quirks (the on occasions rather strange grammar for example), and the bossfights (as far as I played so far) are rather simple (choose the right weapon/magic and smash/shoot/blast it to smithereens), but all in all I feel pleasantly reminded of the games I mentioned above.
In a nutshell: I can recommend this game to everyone who liked classics like "Secret of Mana", "Terranigma" and "Illusion of Time" and who needs a well earned break from all the typical JRPG like games out there in favor of a refreshing (albeit in no way new) combat system, where you beat your enemies yourself instead of waiting for your character to do it for you.
I remember my friend really liking this on xbox years ago so I thought I'd give it a shot.
It does seem to have a lot of depth for such a basic looking game. Definitely more professional than the RPG Maker crap I'm used to on Steam.
However it's just not very impressive on Steam years later. The graphics are really lacking. The characters look stock and the animations are nearly nonexistant.
Doesnt' come close to living up the Zelda pedigree. THe graphics are nice but overall it feels like a game better suited for Newgrounds. Would rather play Link to the Past on emulator for the 20th time.
The fall of gods claims to be inspired by Action-RPG 16-bit consoles games and it doesn’t disappoint.
This game has a rich depth of questing, puzzles, magic, secrets, weapons and much more.
Outstanding things for me, is the amount of content in this little indie title. The world that you explore is charming and is finished off beautifully with well-crafted atmospheric music.
