Would love a modern remake with some single player/coop content to play while waiting in lobbies.

I bought this game for $2 and today it still remains the best $2 dollars I've ever spent on anything ever! The game was already well on it's way on the river of styx back when I got it years ago with only about 30 or so servers up at the time but dear god was this a fun game. There were nights I missed going to sleep because my friends and I needed to get another game of Ball in. Every time I see it in my library of games it brings a smile on my face as I remember the fun I had on this game.

Man I loved this game. It's so damn good, rocket league sideswipe reminded me of this. Similar but more complex, perfectly balanced team arcade game.

Shame there's hardly and players anymore. Really could do with a mobile release and cross platform play.

It's been out for more than 10 years, now even free to play, and it's still fun for such a simple game. Good luck trying to find players online for the achievements or actual challenge though.

Fun (and also free now!). Its a little shooty game with plenty of options, and a good laugh. Can't fault it.
There's a very small multiplayer community still going as well, but you can just mess around with bots as well.

Before it was free, this was the first game 11 year old me bought on steam all the way back in 2008. This game really hooked me from the free trial, and it had me hooked ever since. I used to put in a few hours a week on it, but the user base started to die down.

As far as gameplay, its the most unique indie game ive played. Cartoon planes has never been so fun. The controls are super crisp and while it took a long time to master this game, it is well worth the effort to put in the work, because you will see the fruits of your work everytime youre crowned MVP.

I paid 10 bucks but honestly this game could be 30 bucks. Its a great game with lots of community support, probably not so much now but this game is awesome. Highly recommend.

This simple plane flying game is one of my favorite and probably my 4th or 5th most played video games of all time. Playing casually is whatever, but playing ladder on a ranked Plane Ball server (like Rocket League with airships) has been one of my favorite gaming experiences. Yes, the game looks dated, is dead, and really doesn't give any incentive to play it. But the small community of people who have kept it alive and allowed me to revisit the game over the years just brings so much joy and nostalgia to my heart.

It is easy to learn and hard to master. The mechanics of flying and shooting are supremely satisfying. The different ships/weapons are great, distinct, and balanced. If you are bored, give it a try. You can find more info about the more "competitive"/serious/fun games at www.planeball.com or in the Steam Community Hub.People gather most days of the week to play a few games and is much different than staring at a mostly blank server list.

One of those "simple to learn, hard to master" gems. It's a fun game for sure. It's quite dated, now over a decade old. But it's also free. This is one of those fun games that you play once a year with the boys when you just want to relax and have some simple laughs. I would compare it to a game like Brawlhalla in that sense.

The game would be more fun if more people played it, but the community has mostly emptied out over the years. This is reflected in (as I understand it) skins for your planes no longer being acquirable.

Fact: I've played this more then any 60 dollar game. It's just fun, and you can play it for 5 minutes if that's all you got, or two hours. No negatives, just an addicting little cartoon plane game that can hook you.

Altitude is past its prime in server population, but it is easily the best 2D multiplayer combat game I've ever played.

This game knew exactly what it wanted to be and accomplished it beautifully.

The controls are simple. The gameplay is straight forward. The different game modes are interesting.

It's easy for beginners and has a very high skill cap. This is one of the very few games I've ever played where I can stop playing it for a week then jump right back in whenever I want and feel comfortable and relaxed. It's like riding a smooth bike.

When I think about this game, I think of a multiplayer space shooter game I played a long time ago called SubSpace. I feel this is a spiritual successor.

Play this game while you can, before it's gone forever.

One of the best underrated multiplayer games. And it's ultra low spec.
Best part of this is the football. You got football played with planes and you can't underestimate how good that is.
5 different planes add some good depth to it.
If you're a beginner- it's worth finding a football server with bots, and learning how to pass and all that. Also there's a good fun tutorial prepared by altitude.
Most common server is 14 people, and sometimes the skill level can be quite high. In which case be maybe a bit prepared for some grumpy players especially if you don't know which direction you're going, don't know how to pass, and go for enormous kill counts and neglecting the ball.
Otherwise, enjoy one of the most underrated multiplayer games on the internet, and which is free as well.

Multiplayer mayhem with airplanes. Play soccer, deathmatch, team deathmatch, base destruction and more. Nice 2D art graphics that compliment the not so serious yet somewhat serious overtone of the game. This game just became free to play not too long ago. Great fun with decent casual physics which makes flying and killing that much more skillful. I had lots of fun when I played this and highly recommend it.

A few years ago I had a lot of fun with this game. Not sure if it's still alive/active or whatever and I can't exactly find out since my account is just, I don't know, gone? It's weird.

It was really fun, though. Like a lot of games that have an overall account level, though, it wasn't the most balanced. Later upgrades and planes were just, you know, objectively better than starting things. The ships aren't necessarily rock-paper-scissors in design but there are elements like that to them. Having said that, the starting ship is probably the best one, which is good for beginners.

Regardless, the ships were balanced enough that you could play whatever and probably be fine in most situations. The game modes were varied enough. You had death match and team death match, yeah, but there was also a mode where you destroyed an enemy base, and another where you effectively played soccor with the space ships. I really liked the last one, but they were all fun and I'd play whatever when I did.

Controls were fine, graphics were fine, sounds were fine. The only problem I ever encountered were some latency issues, where people would just appear to teleport somewhere else or where you were clearly disconnecting (everyone was falling or flying into walls).

Yeah, every now and then I boot this up and try to figure out my old account, or to make my old account work, but it never happens. Had a lot of good times and I would totally play some more, if not a lot, should I ever fix that. Good game, if you see it on sale, do check it out. Assuming it's still alive. It might not be!

The edit: game is mostly dead except for old elitists, apparently. Shame. Guess they are a pretty closed off community and not friendly to newbs. Oh well. RIP altitude.

Altitude is mostly dead now, but if you can get it cheap and a group of friends to play it with you it is a lot of fun.

It's a fun game to play for a bit, but there isn't really that much replayability. I played it for 6 hours straight on a free weekend and bought it expecting to play it another time but never felt the need to. Worth picking up on the cheap for a quick thrill, much the same as a pint in a pub.

Pure chaotic fun. This game is an ideal time killer when you fancy something different. The football is the best game mode for me, and I don't even like football!

A few years back, this game was great. It had a small community but enough to make the game worth playing. As of now there's probably only a few dozen people playing.

I wouldn't recommend purchasing it now unless it's extremely cheap and you're curious, but during its active lifespan it was a great game.

Get this game. I wish I recommended it earlier, it's very fun and rewarding. It's physics is the most fun part, it is hard to fly so it is hard to master but the satisfaction of killing someone or scoring a goal in the "Ball" mode is amazing.

Easily the best Indie MP game I've encountered. Lots of fun. The team-based multiplayer modes never seem to get old. A lot of teamwork is required as no two games ever play out the same way.

The controls are flawless. I found keyboard best, but you can also use a mouse (even one handed) or gamepad. Very little time is spent in between rounds or in loading screens unlike most mp games.

The game is great for those occasions where you don't have much time so just want to drop in / drop out. There are always plenty of servers ready to join.
