nice little rpg maker game.
Incredibly mid, it's a RPGmaker game without good RPG combat.
Story sucks too.
Visuals are really nice but thats all it has going for it
A Business RPG features quirky humour, unique hand-drawn art, a capitalist dystopia and classic combat.
Intro
Suits: A Business RPG asks us the question that many other RPGM games had asked: what if I made a RPG Maker game that is very fucked up?
In that regard, Suits does manage to hit the mark. Clearly reminiscent of hit pieces like OFF, this short little game brings us through a fucked up story line about how capitalism can destroy a society from the inside and gut it from the inside out. While the positives are very positive, the game still has some errors that holds it a bit back from its full potential as a true Fucked Up RPGM Game classic. Let's dive in a little bit.
TL;DR: A solid 7/10 game on the Fucked Up RPG Maker Games with great inspiration from OFF. An overall good experience only held back by too many silly 420 jokes and some unpolished and unbalanced gameplay that can feel a bit frustrating at times. At 4 hours of playthrough without going 100% (althokught it's possible) it's a great value for 1$
Positives
Let's start with the wrapping. Art-wise, this game clearly drinks from cult classic OFF aesthetics: hand drawn, black and white and grotesque. Still, it manages to have its own vibe and tone, setting the game as colorless from the beginning instead of having the colors fade and making the hand drawn, pen on paper style very clear. The simple pixel art for sprites contrast with the intrincate designs of sprites in combat.
The OST hits the mark with its dark and industrial ambient (save the song about dinosaurs) that is unsettling enough for us to never feel comfortable in any part of the game. Pitched up or down versions of some song can be heard in combat, adding to the strange eerines of the whole ambiance. Overall, a great work form the composer to make us feel like we don't truly belong here.
Finally, the narrative and story in the game is compelling enough for me to keep going. It helps that my anarchist ass also wants to see capitalism crash and burn under it's own weight, so I might also be a bit biased here. Still, it has some shortcomings that I will go into later.
Summing it all up:
- Good stilistic and art choice
- Pretty well made OST
- Interesting plot points and little secrets
- Overall narrative feels compelling to follow

Negatives
Starting where I left it on the positives, the narrative is held back by the insurmountable amount of 420 and scatological jokes. Don't me wrong, I love weed jokes as much as the next guy, but when you have this game trying to tell you a complex story about how capitalism is a soulless machine feeding the meat of discarded workers back to them, it takes you off a bit when there are constant clocks at 4:20 or you find "a dank bag of oregano". I get it, but it feels a bit too much at times.
On that note, some scenes and dialogues feel weirdly too sexual. Again, I'm not against it in a pearl-clutching puritanical way, but more like "why is this here". Especially on the 5 minutes wait section at the bank (which, btw, pretty funny on its own) it really felt uncomfortable at times, since I literally can't do anything as a player to move away from the situation. As much as a I get that is a dark game with dark comedy and all, in this specific case it felt a bit unnecessary.
Finally, let's talk gameplay. Usually a RPGM game is gonna have, well, RPG elements, specially turn based combat. Ignoring the shortcomings that may occur just by the fact of using RPGM as an engine, the combats themselves seemed unbalanced, specially with the addition of Jerome. Seeing that obtaining the one and only party member of the game feels like a secondary quest that can be missed, It's not hard to imagine that combat could get frustrating fast as a one man army. But with Jerome, having the chance of paralysing enemies from 1 to 5 turns to do whatever you want, some boss battles are incredibly trivialized, including the final boss battle, which takes away most of the dramatic charge of the encounter.
Additionally, random encounters, especially in the Undercity, feel way more powerful than their boss counterparts. Farming for some upgrades felt complicated and a bit hard on resources, since save points don't recover HP/MP, but then getting said upgrades and leveling up felt like overkill for certain bosses, since there is a real chance of perma stunning them for the whole combat.
Summing it all up:
- Narrative and overall dialogue is held back by a bit too much of weed and sex jokes
- Gameplay lacks polishing and balancing
- Jerome feels simultaneously too strong because of paralysis and too weak because of low damage output
[*] Lacking a heal on save mechanic strain too many resources on healing items
Conclusions and final notes
Suits: A Business RPG is a love letter to the classics and an overall enjoyable experience if you are used to games on this vibe. With a final personal score of a 7/10, I'd say it's a good entry point in the subgenre of Fucked Up RPGM Games at 4 hours of game time for 1$.
Great references to Mortis Ghost and the Batter, by the way. Got a chuckle out of me
Definetly worth it for a dollar or less.
I mean you can fight a guy who is literally name "Wife beater Peter", what else could you desire from a game?
full of easter eggs and funny references
There is a short sequence in this game that I can only describe as "unwanted sexual advances"
It was a pretty neat game.
a rpg maker classico
After seeing this game many times in hidden RPGM game videos, I decided to give it a shot. But if I’m being honest, I was disappointed.
Suits: A Business RPG is a story- and battle-focused RPGM game made in 2016. With its hand-drawn art and capitalism-themed premise, it got me really interested at first.
Let's start with the story without diving too much into it. Your character is assigned to work as a typical office worker. You decide your character's name and start with an introduction to the world. The world is a capitalist dystopia (if I say something really wrong, please correct me—I’m not familiar with this kind of theme). First, we have to graduate from business school. The game teaches the basics while throwing in some jokes, which were actually funny. After finishing school, we begin our harsh business journey.
I have to mention, with a name like A Business RPG, I expected a lot of mechanics or gameplay related to business. It has some relation to the theme, but it's mostly just used as a setting for the game. Other than that, it's just a classic story- and combat-focused RPG.
The gameplay is really okay. There are combat segments mainly focused on the dystopian story. The balancing is questionable, but I’ve played worse games.
The art style is only great when the hand-drawn segments appear. Some of the enemy designs in battle look good. But the rest—especially the overworld environment and characters—look really bad. Many characters are just blank men in suits, and on the overworld, they look awful. But in the hand-drawn scenes, they actually look great. I feel like they made this design choice because they wanted to create some kind of mascot that would become popular (blank-faced, wearing a suit, looking intimidating—from the trailer, cutscenes, and sequel). Since I haven’t seen it become widely recognized, I guess it failed.
Level designs are just okay. Nothing stands out. My biggest issue here is the interaction with the world. You can’t interact with any items from above, you can’t interact with some items because they are too close to each other, and only one of them has an interaction tile. This isn’t game-breaking, but it becomes really annoying after a while.
The game's strongest aspects are its symbolism and jokes. There are some great symbolic elements that I have to praise. But for a casual player, it might be hard to understand what they mean. The jokes are mostly from the 2010s era, which some people might really like. There are also some reference jokes, but I think today’s players would probably just roll their eyes at them.
The soundtrack is really interesting. It’s not something you would regularly listen to after finishing the game, but it really complements the atmosphere. Even some of the joke tracks are actually great. Some overworld soundtracks really enhance the game’s atmosphere.
I probably mostly praised this game, but what I wrote above are its great points. The bad points are the same across all aspects of the game—bad polishing. Really awkward controls, not deep or well-balanced (just okayish) combat. The overworld art style and main story are just not that great.
I assume this is the developer's first RPGM game. I’ve seen much worse games out there, but I don’t think this game deserves as much praise as it gets (looking at Steam reviews). There is a sequel that looks more polished.
That being said, the game is really cheap. A really mediocre game, but with an interesting premise and lots of 2010s reference jokes. For those who like RPGM games, I recommend it—especially for those who are tired of horror, story, and puzzle-based RPGM games.
Oyunda yapmamız gerekenleri anlamak daha kolay olabilirdi, çok fazla gönderme var adam öldün yazmak yerine kovuldun vs yazıyor biraz daha anlaşılır olabilirdi bence.
SUITS
pretty good
its an awesome game with a simple yet interesting story with a strange but also wicked twist.
Cool, different and old school looking game.
I certainly enjoyed my time with this cheap as sin game. Can't remember when it slipped into my pile but I'm glad it did. It's a bit simply clever but the humour is a weird enjoyable flavour. Kill an afternoon and indulge in
the hand drawn atmosphere of a beautifully playable mess. It's unserious but evocoative nonetheless. :)
this game was funny as hell like why did i find a 100% useless cat in a box, why is there a zang restroom for plants AND WHY IS A GUY NAMED COXTON HITTING ON ME dude this game is the most stupidest ive ever played and i mean that in such a good way i had such a great time playing this truly i love the art style the everything so much
I got it on sale for 50 cents. WHAT A DEAL!
My Man!
This game is so weird. It's an Earthbound inspired RPG, something like Undertale or LISA, but then it's just so odd. However, before I start with what was weird, my favourite part of the game is the art. Very unique, hand-drawn, messy and OFF-inspired. The humour is so weird, there's a segment where you have to stand still for 5 IRL minutes to progress. But it can be quite meta and funny like when you fight a lot of pop culture references and fights, even if the gameplay got got annoying at times, but I mean I guess I'd recommend it just to have a laugh for like a couple hours. It's less than a £ so I can't really complain. It's also got a neat OFF reference with the Batter and Mortis ghost showing up to prove the inspiration. Pretty funny game overall
Fine game, neat story and morals and art and all that, but the thing that got me was the very ~2015 internet references out of the blue haha. Did not expect that and took me back to my younger years. I also got lost a couple of times but hey that's on me
Banger.
Suits: A Business RPG is a quirky, dark, and surreal take on the RPG genre where you play as an office worker navigating a corporate dystopia. The game’s charm lies in its bizarre humor and unique art style, which sets it apart from typical RPGs. Combat is turn-based, but with an absurd twist as you face off against corporate-themed enemies like suits, managers, and even businessmen wielding bizarre weapons. It’s a game full of social satire, offering a fun, unconventional experience for players looking for something different.
A fun game that understands Business is Business nothing personal XD now to enjoy my sandwich and get a new suit
very unique art style. The contrast between the comedy and the game’s melancholic nature is effective. It creates a dynamic narrative that is both entertaining and thought-provoking, that adds depth to the game, making it not just a visual treat but also an emotionally rich journey.
RPG Maker strikes again!
Suits: A Business RPG is one of hundreds of low effort retro-style RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality assets (notably most of the assets here seem to be custom instead of just copy + pasted RPG Maker stock assets... but they're still very low quality) coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. This one comes across as a kids interpretation of what the business world is really like... it's supposed to be some kind of pretentious satire or something, but really it just comes across as a lame concept expressed in a very, very lame way.
The artwork here is terrible, it's a blend of old retro pixel "art" used as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics, and some of the most amateurish MS-Paint/"Baby's First Wacom Tablet" style drawings I've ever hurt my eyes on. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget to arrange someone who can do graphics properly, or lack of talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result of these decisions.
As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development.
RPG Maker is an absolutely terrible construction kit, and never results in games of any reasonable quality or value to gamers.
Suits: A Business RPG didn't appeal much to the people who own a copy of the game, either. It has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game didn't really capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is "Graduation", graduating and starting the game, trivial to get, but less than 29 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. Hardly a success story, even the people who own this game weren't interested in it.
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a modest spike in player counts for the game. But this only happened once, around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam?
Suits: A Business RPG is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 11,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.
Have you played OFF by Mortis Ghost?
Imagine it was a comedy.
That's Suits.
