the simplified and slightly watered down little brother of Codename Panzers amped up on copious amounts of weird miscellaneous drugs he found on the side of the road under a garbage can.
if you like the gameplay or general feel of Codename Panzers Phase 1 & 2, you'd probably like this. Though, as said, this game doesn't really try to take itself as seriously as the former, especially in Rush for the Bomb where just about all (little) semblance of historical accuracy this game tried to have originally is thrown into hurricane force winds.
i highly recommend it, i was on a goal from 2021 to play through ALL cdc/storm region ww2 rts games. i own the original blitz kreig on CD, same for code name panzers (both of them which i loved since i was a kid) and now i finally played through most of the game. generally trying to get them all done in as little time as possible.
i love rush for berlin/rush for the bomb and recommend it to any one who likes rts
Great little jewel of an RTS game. I played it for old time's sake but was pleasantly surprised to find it is still very fun. Different story from what we're used to in WWII RTS games, relatively advanced mechanics for its time and super goofy cutscenes. And for $5???
Most amazing WWII Strategy Game I have ever played. It gives the player a lesson in history from all sides of the conflict during the European Theater of Operations.
I found this frustrating and just couldn't engage with it. For some reason even on easy I found it ridiculously hard at times. It just didn't draw me in enough to want to figure it out, so uninstalled after mission 4 which was just annoying. It's not a bad game per se and has aged relatively well, but I just didn't enjoy the time I spent with it.
10/10
I simply cannot find a game more well made and utterly glorious. If I could give it 12/10 i would. Truly a title that cannot be better!
quite pretty wwII game for a good prize, i can only recommend this piece of code.
For a better resolution You must set this optimal lounch options settings: -windowed -width 1280
that same feeling of when I met Commandos 2, challenging in the right measure (although you can break Commandos 2 easily) and very beautiful for a 2007 RTS. if you came from curiosity, play and enjoy a cool game of its time
Rush For Berlin is a 2009 RTS game that is developed by Stormregion and published by Deep Silver. It is set in the middle and final years of World War II.
Gameplay:-
Rush For Berlin is an RTS game, I made that clear, but there is a lot of thinking for it. you got to keep a lot of your tanks active and soldiers alive if you want to win the war. Each tank and unit has special abilities. Like for example a T-34 soviet tank can ram into it's opposing tanks due to the "For the motherland!" run they did in World War II which unfortuantly many russians were killed but they won World War II for us. There are officers in the game that have unique abilities to call special units, airstrikes, artilliary and even battleship artillity. There are six factions in the game, if you count the expansions. There are the British/American pact (Western Allies), Nazi Germany, Soviet Union and Free France. In the expansion "Rush for the Bomb" there is Franco Spain or Spain under adminstration of Nazi Germany and Republican Spain. (This expansion is a altered timeline of the Spainsh Civil War from 1936-1939.
Characters:-
There's not many characters in it much, the only icon character in the game seen is Adolf Hitler. Other characters like Joesph Stalin, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt is mentioned.
Enviroment:-
In the maps and battles, everything is eeire when you start a mission, you can't see anything unless you move your soldiers/tanks up and it's often has peaceful or build-up music to start it off.
Languages:-
Yes all factions speak there own language (English, French, Russian, German, Spainsh)
Final Thought:-
This is one of my first RTS titles that isn't Command & Conquer related back in the day, Rush for Berlin is visually stunning, lots of action, and it can be challenging aswell. So want an RTS, challenging at times, game is for you!
Warning! The following MIGHT turn off players:
-TIME LIMIT
-VOICE ACTING (even though each army is voice acted in his/her own native language, whice is kind of cool)
-GRAPHICS/ANIMATION (standard 2000 era RTS styl)
-CLUNKY CONTROLES
Now before I continue, I have been eyeing this game for 2 years, before I bought it on steam and yes, this game can actually work on mondern systems. I am playing this on Windows 8.1 and it works fine, but here is where things get strange, I have to play this game on MAX GRAPHICAL SETTINGS or the game glitches on low settings, there really isn't any problems the game doesn't slow down on MAX GRAPHICAL SETTINGS and it looks great.
Finally the game, how does it hold up? Well, surprisingly well dispite it's flaws, it plays like a ragular RTS game except you can't build any buildings, you are on a time limit and you have to capture unit producing structures to make an extra set of sodiers. Honestly, this game CAN'T COMPETE with other ww2 RTS's (like Men of War, Company of Heroes, Faces of War, etc. + Command & Conquer for emphisis), because it isn't as young as it use to be.
But, none te less I still strongly recommend this old gem for hardcore and ww2 RTS collecters. Personaly I find this game quite haliarious at times and I am statisfied with this product.
Ps. For the Motherland, Fatherland, Freedom and Liberty!!!!!!
Rush for Berlin Gold is a realisticWorld War II strategy game that involves the armed forces of the United States, Free France, Germany and the Soviet Union. The game contains solid graphic even by 2017 standard. Every factions have historically accurate units. The game is very combat focused, which means you don't have to worry about the economy and building bases. All you need to do is "Rush For Berlin".
Works fine on a win 7 laptop. Might be my laptop, but the load time is definitely long on certain maps. A tactical rts with no base building. On certain missions you can recruit more units, but for the majority of those missions your existing units are good enough. I liked how they would give you a video preview of the current mission. You do get a core group that you can level up if they survive, but they only go to the 3rd rank and level up fast and you could only deploy a fraction of them, so there is no reason to give them priority over the noncore units. The medic and sniper are really powerful in the game. The medic can heal your infantry rather quickly and your infantry doesn't even die that easily even to tanks and even move at about the same speed. The AI is bad at threat assessment, just shoots whatever unit is the closets to them. The AI also doesn't react to being shot at if the unit is out of their visual range. There are secret objectives and side objectives, but I really didn't bother going out of my way for them. Pathfinding kind of sucks, you can blockade yourself on narrow paths or your units will go in all directions trying to avoid the traffic jam. Hero units are nothing special expect the tank stealing power one. Weather didn't change my tactics. Also, it seems like you can shoot through buildings.
There are 7 main missions each for the Russian, German, and Allies campaign. 4 for an UNISPIRING french one and two 6 alternative history missions. I only found the German campaign fun, because some of the mission felt more like a war than a skirmish.
I played this game 2 weeks after Blitzkrieg Anthology and it does play similarly, though I prefer Blitzkreig 1 to this. I give this game a 6/10.
If you like RTS warfare with tanks and small squads of men then this is likely something you already have in your library, if not then you might have spoilt your appetite with other games that fit this genre. Personally it's a favourite in this kind of genre and unfortunely it only has spiritual successors since the developers now defunct.
Like I've said in another review, if I could jump into a time machine and intervene at the point of purchasing, I wouldn't intervene since it was worth every penny.
While focused on the combat more then anything else, RFB Gold is a fun game.
Like i said, it focus is on the combat. You don't have workers gather resourses, no buildings to be made, straight to the point; war. And, thankfully, its fun.
There are 3 armies to choose from, Germany, US, and Russia, but aside from one or two unique unites, they all play the same.
I've only started the main story, but have put some time into deathmatches. You can play with or against bots (yay!) and the AI is pretty good..
While I can't give this RTS a 5/5 (no resourses, or building anything), it's worth a try, for sure.
I sunk HOURS into this game when I was younger. Does it hold up to my memories? Hell yes. Even now, when I'm spoiled by games like CoH2, This games is still a good RTS. Graphics are good, (Except for the cutscenes...but those are so hilariously animated that it's hard to hate them.) Controls aren't awkward, and there isn't a butt ton to memorize. There are pop culture refences all over the game (Like, one time as the soviets, I captured the enemy base, and a soldier said: "Run Nazis! All your base are belong to us!). There are cheats for the game that give your units invincibilty, insta-kill, infinite resources, and so on. (I use invincibility, I know it's cheap, but it's so much fun to send my Ranger officer headlong at a bunch of tanks, and capture one with no problem). The only problem I have is that there's no "Select All Units" button, or a UI element that shows all your troops. Which, when dealing with larger armies, can be a bit of a problem. I highly reccommend this game. Especially considering it's price. Definitely more casual than CoH2, but just as difficult.
I will say, the multiplayer maps I have tried with a friend and bots, the ai can problematic as most of the time, they take all their troops and tanks right at the start and just bum rush you while and your friend are taking time to build up your army. But I haven't played it much after that, so...meh.
I first played the vanilla game several years ago, with the Western Allies, Russian, German and French campaigns. It was quite possibly the greatest RTS game I have ever played, using a great system involving infantry, vehicles and crews, artillery, officers, airborne troops, all sorts of good stuff.
With the Gold version, the "Rush for the Bomb" mode is added, detailing a fictional front of WWII with the rush to build the atomic bomb.
Started as a great game, now became better.
Very fun game, great campaign great graphics the only bad part is the multiplayer is lan and bots only. 8/10
For me this game was always an example of how such games should be made, there are several interesting campaigns with great storyline, unique missions and units, many great funny cutscenes, lots of so-called 'easter eggs' in most (if not all) missions, that made me replay them again and again, as it felt like i'd necessarily miss something out.
Five WWII campaigns from a great (although now defunct) developer called Stormregion for $1.24: somewhat dated by today's standards but nonetheless fun to play.
This game is much better than I expected, especially for the price. I've played many games priced higher than this that don't offer the same amount of enjoyment. I am especially fond of how each country speaks their own language, unless addressing something vital.
