Beautiful graphics on the lovely looking boards, I would actually buy one of those workshop designer sets if I could. Only recently learned how to play Backgammon, and do really like the game. Before this I had tried one on the Nintendo DS 42 classic games, but the computer really did cheat you, and I mean like every time it threw the exact dice it needed to win.
Of course any number is possible, so of course it can and will on this game too, it is frustrating when you have blocked off so much and the appalling regularity which which the CPU manages to hit what it needs.
I'm still quite a beginner and not knowledgeable enough to say how good the CPU strategy is.
I didn't try online, I had read the reviews and many people were moaning about this, but if online's that important there are loads of free websites you can play others. Just won't have such pretty boards as this game.
The 'Blitz' mode. Meh. I'd guess the powerups would be more used on another person when you can see and hear their reaction. Not much fun early on when you don't have any and the CPU uses them on you.
All that said, for the low price, I've had some amusement from it and learned a bit more strategy just by playing.
So, yeah, If you like Backgammon game, this is a nice-looking solid offline version.

Just played a round against the AI (I'm not an online gamer, not my cup of tea) and I really like this game allot. I just started learning how to play Backgammon earlier this year and so far, this is my favorite computer game version yet.
The variety of board styles are beautiful and there is this one metal board that is really awesome. I'd like to make one in real life. That was the thing that stood out for me. I love the ascetics.
The game has music and a cool feature is that you can disable genres to suit your mood. I wished more games had this feature.
The graphics are stunning. It's a visual masterpiece.
I might try the online feature sometime, but I'm happy to just play by myself.
Very complex to run for such a simple game. The steps I need to take to play online with friends are just confusing and it almost always crashes mid game. Not recommending.
It did not open I never played at all.
I'm amazed anyone could screw up Backgammon, but this game's terrible AI is only outmatched by the even worse UI. Did you select the piece to move or merely select it to view its available moves? Did you try to select another piece to move to or did you want to expose a piece by moving your previous selection to the piece you wanted to move? Does blue mean move or green?
Given the UI is so bad, you would expect an undo option, but there is none. And, not that it matters, but the keybinds are awkward, and the Escape button is too close to board. Half the time, I can't tell where I'm supposed to click to move a piece, and even then, the click portion of the UI is inconsistent depending on whether you are moving to the near or far side of the board.
Even at $4, this game costs too much. It shouldn't even be free in its current state. Steam, please delist this game and refund everyone their money.
If you don't believe me, try it.
