I like the idea of this and what they're trying to do, but it's quite broken at this time - to the point of being unusable.
The main issue for me was that in visiting any location, the VR controls would stop working and I couldn't navigate away from the location or move around in it. The VR menu button still worked, but attepmting to use any option gives no result in the headset. I found that it was displaying the results on the desktop, requiring me to take off the headset, click the option, then put the headset back on.
Also constantly loading items, which never seem to appear, so I've not seen the game look like anything shown in the screenshots, only a blueprint like mess.
This is a great idea, and I think VR needs something like this, but High Fidelity needs a huge amount of work before it's even useable, let alone enjoyable.
just booted this up thinking it would just work, but im using the vive and had several issues that seem to stop it working
1) first time it started everything was mirrored back to front on the vive
2) did room setup and updated firmware all round and restarted. pre-tutorial seemed to show correct welcome 'hold hands above head'
3) in the welcome area, the avatar or hand controllers arent visible. that means I cant complete the task set
4) figured going into 2d view and just jumping to welcome area, still no interactions working at all.
5) even mirroring vive you can see the avatar has no hand controllers.
6) thats it. nothing worked, and when i di actually jump to a location the rez speed was appalingly slow and im on a fast connection. are these areas hosted on users own desktops?
is there any help page for the hand controllers not showing up? whole experience confusing so far, and im pretty experienced in vr/virtual worlds
I got to say I'm really impressed with this game. The avatars movments look natural when talking to other people. I felt no motion sickness moving around without the teleport and flying is really fun. The ability to shrink and grow in size just adds to the over fun of the game. Lots of locations to visit. If they keep working on this it will be like entering the matrix lol only for fun!! I highly recommend it!
The Game itself is a Development, even though its early acess. its literally so unfinished that even the unity editor is more complete than the game itself.
its so complicated and the tutorial is short. the only way you learn in this game is by figuring things out yourself.
Theres another game thats practically simple and finished, and its better than this 1/4 eaten sandwich.
VRchat (VRchat.net)
i've talked to the developers and it is said that it will be released on steam soon. although you can still play it from vrchat.net
High fidelity = 3/10 VRchat = 9/10
Just spent some time here. Gotta say it was a lot of fun! Met a lot of intertesting people and I can't wait to get back into High Fidelity!
